  • Plugin crashes when I select an adjustment layer in a layer parm

If I drop my plugin on any layer and select an adjustment layer that is on top of the plugin's layer from the plugin's layer param, After Effects crashes. What gives? I'd love to paste some code here but it even happens when my plugin is doing nothing at all. I can comment out all of the render code and the plugin works UNTIL I select an adjustment layer as mentioned.
Is this a problem with After Effects or is there a way I can fix this?
Eidt: It seems native After Effects plugins also crash when I select an adjustment layer from a layer param, not just my own plugins.

Exact same thing happening to me. Are you on CS6 as well?

It would help to have more information, but try this: Quit the editor, then restart it while holding down ctrl+alt+shift (command+option+shift on a mac). Keep the keys down till you see a window asking if you want to delete the settings file. You do.

    HI Ohhh Kaye,
This may not help you since I'm not using a macOS.  I'm running windows 7 with PS 2014.2.2.  However the problem seems similar.  I found this workaround on photoshop.com where people using windows and OSx versions were reporting the issue for well over a year.
It appears one trigger for this problem is when reusing older photoshop files.  These older Photoshop files have older print settings saved within them.  If your printer driver is newer/changed since the file was made and/or your Photoshop version is newer than when it was created it appears to cause a crash when trying to enter printer driver settings to change them.
The workaround that worked for me:  Open the old photoshop file.  Jot down the dimensions.  Create a new file w/same dimensions.  Arrange your workspace to "2-up vertical" or something that allows you to see both files at once.  Select all layers on the old file and drag to the new file.  Close the old file.  Align all your layers and content to the new file (keep all layers selected).  Then save the new file.  Now choose print, and then choose print settings.   It should not crash this time. And it will be fine the next time you open it.  That is if this workaround will work for both operating systems and errors anyway. (might not)   Worth a try if you are really trying to print something directly from photoshop.  Otherwise export a pdf and print that.
Hope it works for you OSX people too.

  • 8.0.5 crashes when events selected...

Hi all, and thank you in advance!
I have read, I believe all the threads I could relating to iMovie crashes, and tried everything but an OS re-install :/ Anyway, the problem just started today for some reason: The default selection in the Event Library is "iPhoto Video". When I select any of the "New Events", all appears OK, until I 1. try to do ANYTHING with a selected event, or 2. highlight another New Event. I eventually get the beachball and the resulting log which Apple's forum server WON'T allow me to post (size??).
Anyway, I have tried: cleaning up my disk by verifying and/or repairing permissions and the disk itself, removing Flip4Mac and other components from the QuickTime library (except for the two Apple codecs), ensured everything was up to date, removed iMove preference files, and re-installed iMovie...all to no avail. I can post bits and pieces of the error log I am sure, but not the whole thing at once…ideas?
This is all particularly humbling since my wife is a dedicated Windows user and finds this very entertaining. For this and other reasons, I would appreciate any and all help, and will build a small shrine to whom solves this puzzle. MMM

    Hi
How about Perian - some versions seems problematic.
Program Updates under Apple menu - updated ?
    else
*Not knowing the origin to Your problem - General approach when in trouble is as follows.*
    • Free space on internal (start-up) hard disk if it is less than 10Gb should rather have 25Gb
    • Delete iMovie pref file - or rather start a new user/account - log into this and re-try
    iMovie pref file resides.
    Mac Hard Disk (start-up HD)/Users/"Your account"/Library/Preferences
    and is named. *com.apple.iMovie.plist *
While iMovie is NOT RUNNING - move this file out to desk-top.
    Now restart iMovie.
    • Hard disk is untidy. Repair Permissions, Repair Hard disk (Apple Disc Util tool)
    • Garageband-fix. Start it, Play a note and Close it. Re-try (Corrects an audio problem that hinders iMovie)
    • Screen must be set to Million-colors
    • Third party plug-ins that doesn't work OK (not relevant for iMovie’08 or 09)
    iMovie updated ?
    QuickTime updated ?
    Mac OS version ?
    • Program miss-match. iMovie 5.0.2, up to Mac OS X.4.11 AND QuickTime 7.4.1 - is OK
    • Program miss-match. iMovie 6.0.3 or 6.0.4, Mac OS X.4.11 AND QuickTime 7.4.1 - is OK (might work under Leopard)
    • Program miss-match. iMovie’08 v. 7.0.1, Mac OS X.4.11 AND QuickTime 7.4.1 - is OK (might work under Leopard)
From LKN 1935. (in this case = iMovie HD (5), I tried it all, but nothing worked.
Your answer (above) has been helpfull insofar as all the different trials led to the conclusion that
there was something wrong with my iMovie software. I therefore threw everything away and reinstalled
iMovie from the HD. After that the exportation of DV videos (there has not been any problem with HDV videos)
to my Sony camcorders worked properly as it did before.
    Lennart Thelander
I run "Cache Out X", clear out all caches and restarts the Mac.

    Hi hg,
I didn’t found relevant settings in remote desktop connection manager, I checked the “Use multiple monitors when necessary” under tools->options, but seems like it is used for span a full screen over multiple monitors. For now I’d suggest figuring out
why your remote session keeps crushing.
I suspect the crash is not related to password changing, similar cases normally occurs after some local device driver, please try to disable the local printer in Remote desktop connection local resources first.

  • Can we rename the clustered instance and change its IP address?

    Hi,
We have an Sql Server 2008R2 Clustered production instance by name 'ProdVir' configured in 2 nodes(Active-passive) with
WIndows Server 2008 R2. We also have another clustered instance as disaster recovery by name 'VirDr' configured again
in another 2 nodes of Windows Server 2008 R2. Every day morning there is mainatenace plan which backups all the database
in production and another maintenace plan in the disaster recovery server 'VirDr' which restores the backups into the
VirDr instance. I would like to know that in an eventuality of a disaster in the clustered production instance of 'ProdVir'
could we rename the the instance VirDr(meant for disaster recovery) to ProdVir and also change the Ip addresses accordingly
so that the application programs do not have to change the details for the datasource in the connection strings.
    Thanking you in advance,
    Binny Mathew

Binny - Yes this is quite achievable, higher level steps (You also need to consider other operational checks):
In the cluster administrator landing page, select your SQL Server Network Name, Press f2 or right click and select rename, give it a new name and then
    Take resource OFFLINE and then
Bring it ONLINE back again, test your application
    Changing IP Address:
Add one more Network resource with the new IP Address
Then you add this IP address to the SQL Server group and set dependency accordingly
Take SQL Server Application OFFLINE and ONLINE again
Here you will end-up with 2 IP Addresses, you can keep both of them or remove the old one later

  • Acrobat Pro XI does not work as it was claimed like when convert Pdf to Excel it changed its content

When we convert a pdf to excel it changed its content for a example see this Pdf

It's working exactly as it's supposed to. If you save a PDF to a spreadsheet Acrobat expects the page to contain tabular data, as that is all Excel can work with. Your PDF has no tables, and a bunch of complex formulae and LTR typefaces which Excel simply doesn't support.

  • Need Help, Elements keeps crashing when I select the "Organize" option

    Hey Everyone,
Hopefully someone here can help me out because the customer support has not been very helpful at figuring this out.
    I am running Windows 7.
I purchased Adobe Premiere Elements and Photoshop at my local Best Buy, and then installed them onto my computer. When I click to open up Premiere Elements I get the a window that pops open, and it has 3 different options:
    Organize
    New Project
Edit Project (or something along those lines. I forget the exact title of this option).
If I choose New Project or Edit project everything is fine, and the program opens up for me and I can start working on my videos.
Whenever I select Organize, the program crashes and a crash report is generated. I am basically unable to access the program through the Organize option because it crashed and then shuts down.
The same thing happens with Adobe Photoshop when I click on the Organize option there. So far the customer support guys on line have not been able to give me any instructions that have worked to fix it.
I was hoping maybe one of you out there had a similar problem when you first started running this program and might be able to help me out. Any help will be appreciated.
    Thank You,
    Gerry

There can be many reasons for Organizer crash.Try the troubleshooting steps mentioned in: http://www.johnrellis.com/psedbtool/photoshop-elements-faq.htm#_Troubleshooting_Organizer_ crashes

  • Soundbooth crashes when I select built-in microphone input on Mac

Every time I go into audio hardware preferences and select the built-in input or the built-in microphone options, the system crashes.
The same thing happens when I make the same selections in Premiere Pro or in After Effects, so I know it's not specifically a Soundbooth problem, but I thought maybe someone here might have an idea as to what might be going wrong and what I can do to fix it.

You may have a corrupted webpage but you can try the following:
1 - delete the iWeb preference file, com.apple.iWeb.plist, that resides in your
         User/Home/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete iWeb's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
User/Home/Library/Caches/com.apple.iWeb folder (Snow Leopard and Earlier).
3 - launch iWeb and try again.
If that doesn't help continue with:
move the domain file from your Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder to the Desktop.
launch iWeb, create a new test site, save the new domain file and close iWeb.
go to the your Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder and delete the new domain file.
move your original domain file from the Desktop to the iWeb folder.
    launch iWeb and try again.
