Dbconsole aint running! ;O(

Gentlemans....!
Im trying to first run the 11g on windows XP and when I try to start the dbconsole with
emctl start dbconsole
the system throws:
DBConsole service cannot start
Server error: 2
To get help type NET HELPMSG 3547
I checked the status with
emctl status dbconsole
and it says that the EM Daemon is not running
The LISTENER is up and apparently set correctly!
I get http access normally but when I do so the db is down!
PS. I had a little issue when installing the db, at 89% it says that the EM couldnt be started and I could do it later running the emca script.
I tryed
emca -deconfig dbcontrol db
emca -config dbcontrol db
the same error apperars at the end. The EM couldnt be started.
has anyone ever been through it?
tks

Sonic,
I think that you should manually configure dbconsole. See if the following link helps:

    Hi Asma,
Lai had a good suggestion for you to check on the local machine. Did that help?
There are known issues with hostnames that contain an underscore "_" or other characters that are not commonly used for hostnames.

  • Dbconsole job running forever

    Hi,
I have a job (refreshfrommetaling) running for almost a month now. The database and the oms have both been down in that time. After the bounce the job still had the status running. So I tried to stop the job and now the status is 'stopping' and it does not look like it's ever going to get stopped.
How can I get rid of this execution ?

i have same problem here. i tried
    sql>DBMS_SCHEDULER.STOP_JOB ('REFRESHFROMMETALINK', TRUE);
where TRUE is FORCE STOP_JOB, but it doesn't seem to find the job class or job.
Perhaps the jobs scheduled by OEM are administered somewhere else.
Can anyone help with this ?

    then i have command
    emctl status dbconsole
    is not running

Dbconsole doesn't work proper without temp files. So you should create temp file for temporary tablespace in some other tool.

/opt/oracle/product/10.2/db_1/linux-tkuk.site_orcl/sysman/config/emd.propertiesdoes not match the current environment TZ setting().
The dbconsole cannot run with this mismatch.
If GMT is the correct timezone, set your timezone environment variable to GMT and repeat the 'emctl start dbconsole' operation.
If GMT is not the correct timezone, make sure that the timezone in your environment is correct, and then run the following command in your local Oracle Home: 'emctl resetTZ agent'
The output of this command will include detailed instructions to follow, to correct the mismatch.
here it says to change the time zone...how to do that.....!

  • Can't Connect to the DBConsole

I have just installed 10.1.0.2 on an 64-bit AIX server running version 5.2.04. A new repository database was created automatically as part of the installation. Everything went just fine as far as the install is concerned, but I am unable to connect to the DBConsole at port 5500, or anywhere else. I can reach the Agent without any problem at port 1830. Also, EMCTL STATUS indicates that both the Agent and DBConsole are started and functioning properly. What I observe is the following:
    1) When I issue 'emctl start dbconsole' it runs for a considerably long period before it finally completes (10 minutes). When I issue a status request, it completes normally, but I can't connect to http://servername:5500/em/console.
    2) The log files contain no information, however the EMDCTL.TRC file indicates that my connection is being refused --- 2004-12-10 11:43:18 Thread-1 WARN http: snmehl_connect: connect failed to (servername:5500): A re
mote host refused an attempted connect operation. (error = 79).
I've checked and rechecked my listener.ora and tnsnames.ora, and see nothing missing or wrong. My Agent log file indicates life is good, as-far-as it's concerned.
    3) If I attempt to FTP to servername:5500, the connection attempt fails. It acts as if there is nothing running out there that's listening on the port.
    4) When I examine the emdb.nohup file, I see reports that the dbconsole app was terminated due to thrashing. Bug report 3972792 contains the same details as what I'm seeing. However, no resolution is listed.
Has anyone experienced this and know how to correct it? Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Regards. . . .

Figured it out. We were attempting to configure and
start DBConsole from remote Telnet consoles.
Apparently, DBConsole attempts to make a connection
to XWindows when it is started (why?), and our
server had access control enabled. Once we executed
'xhost +' at the server, everything began working
(mostly). We still get errors from the Apache
webserver from time-to-time, but we're running. This is one of the things I didn't understand. Why do I need X11 to run a "headless" application?
Did you set DISPLAY to some valid destination? DBConsole would not run on AIX 4.x without it being set properly.
    Regards,
    Martin

  • DBConsole Access Trouble

    Background:
Customer has a new Windows 2003 R2 Enterprise x64 Edition server. Installed 11.1.0.6.0 software, followed by 11.1.0.7.0 patchset. Created new 11.1.0.7.0 database, listener, and dbconsole.
ALL installation/creation processes completed wtihout any errors.
Attempts to access dbconsole using IE7 have all been unsuccessful.
Stopped and re-started all services. Rebooted server. Dropped and re-created dbconsole. Each of these completed without errors, but still unable to view dbconsole.
    Note:
V11.1.0.7.0 database and dbconsole are running on a different Windows 2003 R2 (32-bit) server without any trouble. Both systems are not on the same network.
    Questions:
    1) Does anyone have ideas as to why the dbconsole cannot be viewed?
    2) Are there any REQUIRED settings/security policies within IE7 or Win2003 that must be set to allow the dbconsole to be seen?? If so, what are they and how should they be set??
    Thanks!

Unfortunately, telnet is not turned on. At this time, I cannot even user Remote Access - they are trying to determine why this is locked out.
I have attempted to access dbconsole from the database server and receive the same connection error messages from IE as I do on any workstation.
Status, and re-creates, of the dbconsole show it is running and the logs have no errors during attempts and/or creation.
    Thanks.

  • Dbconsole on win2003 cluster

    Hi guys,
    i have a w2003 with a 10g db on it (10.1.0.5).
Dbconsole doesn't work. I tried to drop and recreate the repository but no way..
    I still got this error:
"No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it"
There is no firewall or other things that could drop the connection.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

    Sorry, my fault.
On each node a separate dbconsole can run.
I start it manually upon logged in the active node.
No rac, only two windows cluster node with failsafe.
I have another enviroment, almost specular, where dbconsole runs without probs.
    :)

  • Dbconsole question on 2 node RAC

    Hi,
If you have a 2 node cluster and dbconsole is running on one node, if that node dies then how do you get dbconsole to run on the second node?
    thanks

dbconsole is instance and host specific, BUT you need to have agent running on other node in order see and collect all stats.
If one node goes down and you start dbconsole on another node, but URL will not work becoz it points to node1 only .so you need to update the URL in the config files of NODE2.

  • Oracle database does not start timezone mismatch

    Hi
I am new on oracle database. My server has restart and now when I try to start oracle database I get this error can anyone help to come out this error.
    oracle@host [~]# /home/u01/app/oracle/oracle/product/10.2.0/db_1/bin/emctl start dbconsole
    TZ set to US/Michigan

And now You see the reason for error message.
emctl thinks that time zone is US/Michigan (its from emd.properties file)
but on linux timezone is set to Asia/Calcutta
Yoiu should understand which one timezone is correct. If it's US - then talk with server sysadmin, he will set correct one timezone on linux.
If correct one is on linux - then follow metalink note how to change timezone for agent.
If none of them are correct, then You will have to follow both steps.

  • Problem with CentOS 4.4 and TimeZone

The oracle is already running in server.
But when i want start the em console give the following error.
Timezone mismatch: The agentTZRegion value (Europe/Madrid) in
    /oracle/10g/localhost.localdomain_TIJAVA/sysman/config/emd.properties
does not match the current environment TZ setting(Europe/Madrid).
The dbconsole cannot run with this mismatch.
If Europe/Madrid is the correct timezone, set your timezone environment variable to Europe/Madrid and repeat the 'emctl start dbconsole' operation.
If Europe/Madrid is not the correct timezone, make sure that the timezone in your environment is correct, and then run the following command in your local Oracle Home: 'emctl resetTZ agent'
The output of this command will include detailed instructions to follow, to correct the mismatch.
im /etc/timezone is defined the correct timezone.
    HELP ME!!!!
    Thanks

  • ORA-01403: no data found ORA-06512: in SYSMAN.MGMT_CREDENTIAL

    Hi all,
I'm trying to configure grid agent 10.2.0.5 on Windows server 2008 (x64).
One step is to configure host credentials in GRID enterprise manager.
When I put those credentials (user and password) I recive the following error:
    ORA-01403: no data found ORA-06512: in "SYSMAN.MGMT_CREDENTIAL"
    File emoms.trc shows the following:
    2010-09-15 12:21:10,152 [EMUI_12_21_10_/console/pref/setCredentials$targetType=oracle*_emd] ERROR creds.SetPrefCreds saveCreds.1478 - SetPrefCreds.saveCreds(): SQLException: ORA-01403: no data found

    ORA-06512: in "SYSMAN.MGMT_CREDENTIAL", line 1588
    ORA-06512: in line 1
In order to perform the deploy of the Agent for MS SQL Server it is mandatory to set host/agent credentials
I could not find anything in MetaLink.
    Any suggestion?
    Thanks in advance.

If you search in MOS for: ORA-06512: in "SYSMAN.MGMT_CREDENTIAL"
    you will find 9 hits.
Could be a number of things.
1- target server does not have a FQDN but only short name. Check your targets.xml file on de target server if the server has a short or long name.
Can you ping the OMS server by ip-address, short name, FQDN from the target server. From the OMS server can you ping the target server by ip,short name and FQDN?. If not check your hosts file or DNS.
2- Is the host user giving the problem or is it the SYDBA user? Is the SYSDBA user granted sysdba rights?
3- Is the DBConsole agent running also on the target?
    4- Other?
    If 1:
Drop all targets from the target server in OMS (drop the agent as the last one)
    Stop the agent
    set oma_home= <path to agent_home>
    / should be \
    del %OMA_HOME%/sysman/emd/state/*
    del %OMA_HOME%/sysman/emd/collection/*
    del %OMA_HOME%/sysman/emd/upload/*.xml
    del %OMA_HOME%/sysman/emd/lastupld.xml
    del %OMA_HOME%/sysman/emd/agntstmp.txt
    del %OMA_HOME%/sysman/emd/blackouts.xml
On the target server run: agentca -f

    hi
    thanks for the reply.
but i am not able to monitor multiple database, but one sid at a time.
i need to monitor multiple database at a time using OEM or through SQL
please help me out and let me know the procedureIdeally you would install and use Grid Control.
But you can also have multiple databases on one host, each with it's own configuration of dbcontrol. You have to make sure ORACLE_SID is properly set when you run emca to create the dbcontrol and when you run emctl to start the dbconsole. Each instance of dbconsole will run on a different port that you have to include in the url when you try to acess it through your browser. The correct url (with port) is reported at dbcontrol creation, and at dbconsole startup.
