Dbms_jobs Query

i have created some procs and wants to execute them using DBSM_jobs.
All the procs are created sucessfully and when run alone, i am able to run them with expected output.
I am also able to run the proc using dbms_jobs.run but when i am submmiiting the job it is failing again and again and inrementing the no of failures in user_jobs. Can anybody help me to figure out the problem.
I got job_queue_processes_paramter set from the DBA.

i am not able to figure out the directory path for these traces or alerts?What version of Oracle are you using? If it's pre-11g then the trace files will be in the directory specified by the parameter background_dump_dest. The file format (at least in 10gR2 on Windows) is <sid>jnnn<spid>.trc where nnn is the job process number.

  • Need to run the package

    Hi friends,
    i need to run a package which will send a mail as soon after it runned. I have a package. But i need to run that package for each and every 10 min in a day. For that how i can create a job to execute that package.
    As a result of the job for each and every 10 min ill be receiving a mail. How to create a job to execute my package for every 10 min.
    Regards,
    Mini

    Hi srikanth and hoek,
    Thanks for your reply.
    i dont know why the job is not running and executing the package.
    if i compiled the package separately means, i can able to execute it successfully and also im receiving mails correspondingly.
    begin
    it_check_overdue_issues.email_overdue;
    end;But if i tried to execute the above package using a job means, it is not running corresponding to the time and also not receiving emails. This is my DBMS_JOB query that i used, it is compiling successfully without errors, but not working what is wrong with it.

    First of all, Disco scheduling in Plus works fine in our production instance. In our test instance, I have a user whom wants to schedule workbooks from time to time where a new folder is being tested. My problem is that when I am on step two of the schedule wizard and I select immediate (or manually place a time in that is very soon (e.g. 5 minutes from now)), the workbook took hours yesterday to show as “scheduled” in the “Managed Scheduled Workbooks” tool.
    Today it works fine and runs immediately. I created a very simple workbook titled, "scheduling test", which has one column, a calculation which is set to sysdate. I began testing this yesterday.
    Does any thoughts on what is causing this trouble?
    I did the following:
    1. I notice that a package is created in the scheduling schema for the workbook scheduled.
    2. I tried to query for scheduled jobs created by dbms_job (queried Dba_Jobs using the system account and could not find the job...either yesterday or today).
    3. I tried to query v$sql with the intent of seeing when the package, batch_rep_secure.submit_job,is executed...but could not find the scheduled records.
    4. I tried gleaning information from the "Manage Scheduled Workbooks" tool associated with the Disco Administrator, and the time column was null (yesterday).
    5. I had our dba check the init<sid>.ora file and confirmed that the job_queue_processes have been set to 10.
    To rectify this yesterday, I just manually executed the package, EUL5_BATCH_PACKAGE10061409140713, and shortly thereafter, the scheduled workbook would have a new table associated with it which was consumable through Disco Plus.
    My hunch is that our job queue was backed-up significantly yesterday and this was delaying the scheduling and running of scheduled workbooks.
    Does any one have any thoughts about what the root cause was here and how I could confirm this?
    Thanks,
    Patrick

    Hi Patrick
    That would be my hunch too. You could also check the database privileges granted tp each user. Here's what I use:
    accept username prompt'Enter Username: '
    accept pword prompt'Enter Password: '
    create user &username identified by &password;
    grant connect, resource to &&username;
    grant analyze any to &&username;
    grant create procedure, create sequence to &&username;
    grant create session, create table, create view to &&username;
    grant execute any procedure to &&username;
    grant global query rewrite to &&username;
    grant select any table, unlimited tablespace to &&username;
    grant execute on sys.dbms_job to &&username;
    grant select on sys.v_$parameter to &&username;
    Best wishes
    Michael

    I've tried all your recommendations without any success.
    For the dbms_output.put_line:
    - I've found there was a problem with the interval => null. In the final statement it looked like: DBMS_JOB.SUBMIT(1, INSERT_SCHEMA(TEST), 2012-08-31...., ); obviously wrong. Since the default value of interval is NULL I've taken out that parameter.
    For the formatting:
    - Thanks for pointing that out! It was surely a problem with that part, as I've seen when printing the statement.
    execute immediate
          'BEGIN '                    ||
            'DBMS_JOB.SUBMIT'         ||

              'next_date  => '        || sysdate            ||
            ');'                      ||
          'END;'
        );With the qnotation:
    - I get an immediate syntactical error when inserting your code right at the second 'q{' part. On the other hand the first parameter: job is a number type so to_char is meaningless in my opinion.

  • Sending email using PL/SQL based on a query result

    Hello all,
    I want to create a procedure using PL/SQL, based on a query result.Here is the scenario:
    I have multiple tables in Target and Source databases that I want to compare(not the whole table but queries on these tables) and if they differ, I want to shoot an email. I have some ideas how to implement this but not sure whether it is the best approach.
    select Acct_id, total from SourceTableA
    minus
    select Acct_id, total from TargetTableA
    select Acct_id, sum from SourceTableB
    minus
    select Acct_id, sum from TargetTableB
    If the result of any of above queries > 0 then I want to shoot an email and want to repeat this procedure in the morning every day.
    I know how to implement send_mail procedure using UTL_SMTP package and how to schedule tha job by dbms_job package. But I am not sure how to implement the result of minus query. In case if minus > 0 then I also want to send the name of tables in the email message where source and target tables are not same. Should i use cursor, variable or insert the result in a new table? any help would be highly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
    Khan

    Actually these queries are the part of our daily testing that we run everyday manually(after the scheduled ETL load) to see if there are any discrepencies between our datawarehouse tables and source tables. So instead of running these queries manually everyday we want to schedula a procedure that will shoot an email in case of any discrepency and indicate which tables have problems.

  • Tuning a procedure and using dbms_job.submit proc that call's functions

    Hi
    I have Procedure that have 3 curosrs which are nested one below with in each other
    and it looks as below
    it's structure will look some thing look like this
    declare
    empno_fetch number;
    CURSOR deu_process IS
    SELECT empno
    FROM emp
    WHERE flg_process = 'N'
    AND ROWNUM <= 5000
    ORDER BY empno;
    CURSOR dup_all IS --c1 fetch around 400000 records
    (select empno
    from emp
    where empno>l_empno
    order by empno
    where rownum<=empno_fetch;
    CURSOR rules IS --c2
    SELECT rule_id, rule_score, name_Of_func
    FROM rule;
    begin
    l_count := 1;
    OPEN dedupe_rule_attr;
    LOOP
    BEGIN
    Here one loop is used for fetching 5000 records at time and
    Here deu_process cursor is opened ,assume it fetches one record
    Here another cursor dup_all is used for fetching the records and assume it fetched 400000 then
    Here another cursor is opened name where it fetches 10 rows
    Here logic is if first row then
    call's stored function which has following functionalty
    it compares fields such as address of outer most cursor i.e deu_process with all the address of the other rows i.e 400000 rows and return a number
    if second row then
    call's another stored function which has
    compares other fields such as first name,last name
    if third then other field
    so on ....
    up to 10
    and then finally ends
    so if i comment all the rules loop then it takes only one min to execute .If it validaes all of them if takes 14 minutes to execute .so there is problem in that 10 procedures to execute
    So i found an approach to run all the rules simultaneously using dbms_job .But i face a problem that i can't uderstand how to send the input and out put parameter's to calling procedure.And these parameter's must be passed by variable from called procedure to calling procedure
    Please suggest me what is the syntax of dbms_job with input and output parameters with variable's that must be passed as formal parameter's
    Regarding DBMS_JOB.SUBMIT I am getting following error

    using dbms_job.submit proc that call's functions which returns out and in parameters to calling procedure environment .I can't get this with out using data base table's.
    If you have any method for this Plese suggest
    And also please suggest me weather using job's is a good idea ,If not than suggest me what ever will the other approach.

    Hi <br>
    I have looked at all sql trace file ,<br>
    I found that there is no problem in sql statemens all of them are using proper <br>indexes execpt the folllowing statement<br>

    FROM ci_cust_dedupe_mast<br>

    This statement executes only once for 1*3,77000*10 times <br>
    The function that i had sent previously executes more than 4000000*20 times .<br>
    I think all it takes is only for iterations that are caused<br>

  • Dbms_job.submit failed

    Hi all,
    I'm just wondering why is it that when i submit a job using dbms_job.submit, it always fails.. But when I try dbms_job.run or execute the procedure itself, the procedure was executed successfully and I was able to get the output that i want.
    Here's my code snippet:
    declare
    x_job number;
    begin
    sys.dbms_job.submit(x_job, 'begin cl_msg2.cl_msg_call; end;', sysdate,NULL);
    commit;
    end;
    I tried to check the alert_log.txt and it shows this error:
    Errors in file /u1/oracle/admin/ABC4/bdump/snp3_1854.trc:
    ORA-12012: error on auto execute of job 694
    ORA-20001:
    ORA-06512: at "ABCDEV.SYSTOR", line 81
    ORA-06512: at "ABCDEV.CL_MSG2", line 512
    ORA-06512: at "ABCDEV.CL_MSG2", line 21
    ORA-06512: at line 1
    When i check for the source of the error, I found out that the sqlcode it returns is 100.. which means no_data_found. It's doing an update on a table. (I've tried running the )
    It's kinda weird because when I checked the record on the table, it DOES exists.. And as I've mentioned earlier, there's no problem when i use dbms_job.run to run the procedure.
    I really don't have an idea as to what have caused the failure on the job.
    Thanks and regards,
    Anna

    Hi,
    Thanks for the immediate reply. Sorry, but I have a very little knowledge when it comes to database issues.. And this is my first time to use dbms_job utility. Here is the code snippet of where the error occurs:
    BEGIN
    UPDATE CL_DRAWDOWN SET msg_cnf = 'Y'
    WHERE dd_key = cmsg.dd_key
    AND loan_no = cmsg.loan_no
    AND dd_no = cmsg.dd_no;
    EXCEPTION
    WHEN OTHERS THEN
    Systor.insert_error_msg (SQLCODE, 'CL_MSG2', 'MSG_PAY', 'O', '10 '|| TO_CHAR(cmsg.dd_key));
    END;
    As you can see on the above snippet, SYSTOR package is being used to handle exception and for monitoring/recording of errors. It actually inserts the error encountered on a table and raise an application error with code -20001.
    Im not really sure I understand this part
    'Ordinary session and job session have different environment. Your code can (recursively) query v$session in unappropriate way.'. Could you please elaborate?
    Thanks a lot for your help!

  • DBMS_JOB.SUBMIT works, Job runs, but no information in dictinary views.

    Job # = 462Job runs successfully. i.e. the procedure chs_job_test is executed OK. Problem is when we query the USER_JOBS view, we don't see any record for Job 462??
    Why is this??
    Where can we get information of the jobs submitted???
    If an error occured when running job, from where, which DD View we can get this?

    If you submit a job without specifying the NEXT_DATE and INTERVAL, Oracle treats it as a "single execution" job. It is removed from the job queue once it is completed.

  • Error when executing dbms_job.submit

    I work with ORACLE server 8.1.7 and I have executed the subprogram SUBMIT of the package dbms_job under an account which has not the DBA privilege . I have already defined a bind variable of type number in SQL*Plus, and there is a simple stored procedure, named GO, which shows only 'Hello'. Here are the codes :
    SQL>create or replace procedure go
    SQL>is
    SQL>begin
    SQL>dbms_output.put_line('Hello');
    SQL>end;
    SQL>/

    SQL>set serveroutput on
    SQL>var x number
    SQL>execute dbms_job.submit(:x,'go;',sysdate,'sysdate+(1/288)')
    Then I received this error message :
    ORA-01422: l'extraction exacte ram&egrave;ne plus que le nombre de lignes demand&eacute;
    ORA-06512: &agrave; "SYS.STANDARD", ligne 586
    Please help me to resolve this problem. Thank you very much.

    Well, it works for me on my 8.1.7 installation (see below).

  • Daily query

    Is there a way I can create something like a trigger but the query should be ran every day morning?
    I mean, we can have a trigger to run when something is inserted or deleted and send an email.. but I don't want one email for each new data updated in the table... I want just one email being send to user in the end of the day.
    Not sure if I was clear, if not, let me know.
    Thanks,
    Leandro Takeda

    Hi Friend
    Could you Please answer these questions
    1.Which version of oracle are you using and platform details?
    2.Trigger is associated with DML. Do you really want to have DML Everyday morning.
    3.Do you have only one user to whom e-mail has to be reach upto the last mint change. Before scheduler / DBMS_Jobs starts
    Please confirm
    Are you looking for integrated changes on a particular table for the last day which should connected via email integration setup.
    Thanks

  • Killing Parallel Query Session

    Hi,
    I am running Oracle 11.2.0.1.0 on Solaris 5.10.
    Couple of hours ago, I ran a job through DBMS_JOB (Yes, I need to use dbms_schedular), and in the job I used parallel query. Now I want to remove the job. Also I want to clean up the sessions. I can remove the job by doing DBMS_JOB.remove(job id). Is there a way that I kill one parallel query coordinator session, and it would automatically kill all the slave sessions?
    Thanks and regards

  • About DBMS_JOB Package

    Hi Everyone,
    I assinged a job using dbms_job package whose interval is after every 5 minutes. But the jobs are not activated i.e, not running. Can anybody explain me to solve this problem.
    Thanks
    Krishna

    Hi, Krishna
    Also, you may need to change some initialization parameters in your database.
    In order for jobs to be executed, you have to define how many processes will be ready to execute jobs.
    You will also have to define how frequently the database checks for jobs (the default is every 10 minutes).
    Both values are defined in the INIT<databasename>.ORA file.
    Examples:
    job_queue_processes = 2
    job_queue_interval = 60 (seconds)
    The lower the interval, the slower the database. Adjust the number of processes according to the number of simultaneous jobs.
    You can check if the values are already defined by the following query:
    select name, value from v$parameter
    where name like '%job%';If you change the init.ora file, remember to shutdown and restart your database.
    Hope this gets you started,
    Pedro.

  • *Urgent* Query with dates

    Hi Gurus,
    I am having problem in developing such a query which has calculations with dates. The problem is:
    I have
    base date for example 26-feb-2006
    statring day: 4
    interval: 5
    input date: 15-mar-2006
    Now the problem is I want to get the results from the query which will start 26-feb-2006+4 which is 02-mar-2006 and calculate the interval which is 5 days from '02-mar-2006' and run it every 5 (interval) days
    02-mar-2006
    07-mar-2006
    12-mar-2006
    I hope I have cleared everything.
    Please let me know as soon as possible.
    Thanks in advance.
    Aqil

    Where is the base_date coming from?
    declare
    v_jobno number;
    dbms_job.submit(v_jobno, 'SCHEMA_NAME.sp_my_proc();',
    -- first time running I schedule for 11 pm staring in 4 days
                              trunc(sysdate+4)+23/24,
    -- here the interval
                              'trunc(sysdate+5)+23/24' );
    end;
