DBServlet

I just wonder if it's possible to deploy DBServlet to OAS4.0.8.0? ( not 4.0.8.1 ).
Thank you very much
Naichen

Not very sure which version of JDeveloper you are using.
DBServlet feature has been deprecated from JDeveloper 3.x onwards.
You can use JSP application wizard to get the same functionality of what you have in DBServelts.
If you are using JDeveloper 2.0 we would strongly recommend moving to JDeveloper 3.1.x release .
To answer your question
A HTML page can be built with mutilple Frames where one of the frame can be an Applet and other frame showing the Servlet pages.

String are immutable so just initialize it with the number of characters you want.
You might want to look at java.lang.StringBuffer and see if that's what you want.

  • Deploying DBServlet w/ Java WebServer

I am deploying my first DBServlet developed w/ JDeveloper 3.0. I am deploying using Java Web Server 2.0. The servlet works fine in the development environment, however not in the deployed environment.
I have read and followed the deployment instructions to the letter, I hope. Unfortunately I can't get past the login prompt. Once I hit connect, I get a "Not Found (404)" error. The servlet appears to be launching because I am getting the login prompt but fails from that point with the error above.
    Any help would be appreciated.

You might want to confirm the actual name of your servlet
    by checking the statement:
    setServletName("/servlets/DbServlet1");
^ This should be the URL used to invoke your DBServlet.
    in your DBServlet.
This statement allows the servlet to call itself. For example when logging in ..etc.
    Hope this helps..

  • JServlet / DBServlet in OAS 4081

I created a Servlet according to the steps given in the OTN website.
It access tables EMP and DEPT from the database.
When I tested it from JDeveloper, it worked perfectly well.
When I tried to access it through Browser / OAS 4081, it didn't work.
    It is looking for DBServletImpl.class
Can anybody help me to find out where this class exists and how to include it.

JDeveloper 3.0 release notes has detailed steps to deploy DBservlets on OAS. Check it out.

  • How to modify the toolbar in DBServlet

    Help ! everybody,
I am new to JDeveloper, I created a DBServlet with wizard, and I need to add a extra button on the Toolbar of View form, but I don't know how to do it. It seems to me everything are inside of DBServletImp.java, so do I need to modify this file in order to just add one more button on toolbar? I am stuck here for one week! any idea would be appreciated!!
    Naichen

    What software?
There is no one answer to your question. Each application can have its own options for manipulating a toolbar. At the very least you need to tell us which application you're trying to change, then maybe someone can tell you how (if at all).

  • JSP and DBServlett

I have a requirement from my customer that no java applets or java code can port through their firewall. They will allow java script and all other java code should run on the server-side. I know that DBServletts satisfy this requirement, but I don't like them very much. I was wondering if JSPs would satisfy this requirement. It seems that JSPs are more open to customization than the DBServletts and so I really want to use them instead, but I am confused as to whether they are applets or servletts. Please advise and clarify whether it meets the requirement I mentioned or whether I need to do something special to them so that they will meet the requirement.

I have a requirement from my customer that
no java applets or java code can port >>through their firewall.Do you mean Tunnel?
Applets are sand boxed via a strict security manager (which can be over-ridden).
They will allow java script and all other >>java code should run on the server-side.Javascript is NOT at all related to Java.
Javascript is interpreted by the browser.
Javascript runs on the client not server.
Javascript can be much more un-secure than Java.
Some sites do not allow solutions involving Javascript.
I know that DBServletts satisfy this >>requirement, but I don't like them very >>much. I was wondering if JSPs would satisfy >>this requirement. Which (updated) requirement are you referring to?
It seems that JSPs are more open to
customization than the DBServletts and so I
really want to use them instead,
but I am confused as to whether they are >>applets or servletts.A DBServlet is a Servlet that is customized
to include access to the database.
A JSP is a Servlet which is easier to code
and maintain. JSPs are transformed (compiled) into Servlets.
Servlets are middle tier Java components.
JDeveloper includes the JSP Project wizard
which does things similar to the DBServlet,
but much more so and at the project level
    for all your business components.
Please advise and clarify whether it meets >>the requirement I mentioned or whether I >>need to do something special to them so >>that they will meet the requirement. You should read some of the white papers and
follow some of the Development scripts or samples before procedding too much further.
I would suggest you wait until JDeveloper 3.1 becomes available for download (any time now)
    for the latest updated samples.
In the mean time, there is plenty of other information available on OTN which can help
you better understand the mentioned issues.
    I hope this helps,

  • Dbservlets - redistributable at no cost?

    Hi,
I've developed a few servlets for my site 'by hand' using JDBC
and the standard HTTP servlet classes from Sun. I used MS
Frontpage for the basic site design, and use IBM's Websphere as
    the 'application' server.
If I switched to developing my servlets using Oracle's dbServlet
code in JDeveloper 2.0 (or 3.0, which I've downloaded), would
this require license fees to be paid to Oracle?
The only reason I ask is that if you read the fine print in the
release notes for all those nice new 'Object Framework
Components (or whatever they're called)' that are added to
JDeveloper 3.0, you end up having to pay Oracle for distribution
licenses. And having been an Oracle DBA/Developer for 10 years
now, I know how expensive that can be.
    Any clear ideas on this?
    Thanks,
    Steve Phelan.

  • Deploy DbServlet

Hi, i am newbie in JDeveloper...
i developed dbServlet using wizard, and it's run well in Jdeveloper, and i want deploy it in Linux's Apache Jserv, what should i do because i still don't understand the step describe in help "deploying servlet"...
is there an archive somewhere in internet that describe the step?...
    help me, please....thanks

To run servlet on IIS, you need a servlet engine. You can download JRun 2.3.3 at http://www.allaire.com, and then deploy the servlet class file into %JRUN_HOME%/servlets.
I have no problem what-so-ever with this configuration in running servlets and puuling data out of Oracle. If you need more details, just email me.

  • Dbservlet and html in textarea

    Hi,
I have followin problem with a dbservlet, in a db field I store html code (which is populated via a cgi script). When I create a dbservlet to manage this field, the html is perfectly displayed in browse mode, but when I edit the html (in a TextArea) some of the html is translated (e.g. some cahracter such as < > etc. becomes the equivalent &xxx
code). The same info (so the &xxx code) is stored in the DB and the html code becomes corrupted !
    HOW CAN THIS BE PREVENTED?
Any help would be very much appreciated.
P.S.: The problem I got in the past with JDEV 2.0 (running 2 dbservlet's under apache) is solved with JDEV 3.0.
    Kind regards,
    Stefaan

This is a common problem , the only way to get around it is to un-escape the characters when your update is submitted. Netscape also has some problems in trying to display HTML characters inside of a textarea, it doesn't render them properly.

Is there any way to setup LOV (list of values) for fields in

With JDeveloper 2.0 there does not exist a simple way of creating
an LOV exactly as with the WebDB product, however we are looking
to add this type of functionality and a lot more in our
    subsequent releases of JDeveloper.

  • Keep more than one DBServlets running in JDeveloper

    Hi, there.
How do I run more than one DBServlets from JDeveloper? Each time I create a new DBServlet, it overwrites the former one. The DBServlet Launcher only luaunches the most recent one.
Thank you for your time. Enjoy the spring.

    Hi, raghu.
I tried your suggestion and the WebAppRunner.htm file could show more registered DBServlets. It worked fine. I'm now trying to deploy it to IIS.
Thank you very much. Good luck.

  • Loading DBServlets

I am very new to java and JDeveloper 3.1 so any help would be appreciated. I created a simple DBServlet using JDeveloper 3.1 and I get an error message at run time which states that the "required internet protocol is not installed or the web address is invalid". What is the solution?

What kind of a connection are you using? Are you able to successfully connect to the database using the connection that you have created in your connection manager? If so, can you please send the same, else, you need to first make sure that the connection that you are specifying is working indeed.

The error means that you don't have all the required zip/jar files in the classpath of your Dbservlet application deployed in OAS.
check the release notes of JDeveloper 3.0 . It has a section detailing the steps of configuring DbServlets on OAS.

  • DBServlets, anybody known anything

Is there anybody who has change the default layout generated from a DBServlets wizard?

The flash problem fix was announced much later and was set for late April.  The original April firmware release didn't give a date.

You're probably right that Canon will screw those of us waiting for the earlier announced enhancements and not release anything until the flash issue is resolved.  The problem with that is, if they insist on waiting for the flash fix before releasing the feature enhancement firmware, they could easily miss an April release if the problem ends up requiring more time to implement a solution...

  • DBServlets and Internet Information Server

I create a DBServlet in JDeveloper, I deployed it and got 5 files:
    single.prf
    single.jar
    single.bat
    single.sh
I'm using Internet Information Server as web server. I put single.jar in my root directoy and y run the single.bat. I created a HTML page from I called my servlet:
    <applet codebase = "." code = "single_class" archive = "single.jar" width=500 height=200>
    </applet>
but when I called the HTML page from my web server the following message appears:
applet single_class error: java.lang.Class FormatError: Wrong class name inside class file
But I don4t know if I call the sevlet in the proper way.
How can I call a sevlet (after deploy it) from a HTML page without use JDeveloper?
    Thanks for all.

    Hi,
Yes, you can run both iWS and IIS on same machine(BOX).
But make sure that both are running in different port.
Still now there are not much of known issue with this senario.
