Dcp too XMP

Can I use a camera profile DCP file in Photoshop camera raw? How can I do that?
Because I can only load XMP files.
Thank you.

DNG Camera Profile files that you create go into a different place than the Adobe-supplied ones.
On my Windows computer, the profiles I create with a Color Checker go here:
C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\CameraRaw\CameraProfiles\

  • Missing Wraptor DCP Format for Export

    Good morning.
I have a fresh install of Windows 7 64bit and a new install of Premiere Pro CC 2014 8.1.0 (81) Build.  When opening a previous project from Premiere Pro CC I do not have the Wraptor DCP format for exporting.  If I create a new project and sequence and dump a video file on the timeline and try and export it's still not there.  I checked the plug-ins/common folder and I do have the Wraptor.prm file in there.   I've searched and searched the web and have not seen an issue like this before. I did see something from Oct about it not being supported yet, but I have a second Windows machine (Windows 7 64bit) that I installed PPro on and it's there.  I should note that in Encore (build 8.1.0.122) I'm missing the Cinema System Preset with Wraptor DCP too.  Is there a prerequisite for getting the DCP option that I missed?  I don't remember doing anything special on the other machine for it.  Also, to note, I have uninstalled both and reinstalled to make sure it wasn't a botched install.
    Anyone have any ideas?
    Thanks.

Solved my own issue.  Apparently in the barrage of Windows updates I had not yet grabbed SP1.  Once that downloaded Wraptor DCP was now a selection in both PPro and Encore.  Anyone else that comes across this in Windows 7, make sure you have SP1 installed.

  • Embedding sub-docs within compound docs

    hello there,
according to all the documentation about XMP it should be possible to import a file with an XMP Packet into another with its own Packet. I tested this with multiple Adobe applications, but the packet of the imported file seems to be lost, leaving only the packet of the containing file (at least in any readable format). The XAPscanner utility revealed the same results.
If this is true, it makes the whole idea of XMP useless...!
    Hans
    things I tested:
psd and ai file with file info filled in -> XMP visible. Imported this in InDesign 2 and added file info there too ->XMP of ID visible, but psd and ai is gone. Did the same with Illustrator 10.

Please see my combined response in your other thread:

  • LR2 too problems: xmp autowrite and 1.1 previews

    Hi,
after updating to LR2 from 1.4.1 and importing my catalogues i noticed two things that bug me:
    1. even though i have "automatically write changes to xmp data" enabled it sometimes happens that when i open a raw file in CS3 bridge or ACR 4.5 the changes made in LR2 are simply not visible unless i choose to update metatdata manually in the appropriate LR2 menu.
    2. even though i have selected to discard 1:1 previews after 30 days, sometimes it happens that when i zoom in on a picture that LR2 has definitely generated a 1:1 preview a day before, LR2 insists to generate the 1:1 preview AGAIN, it seems that the preview has not been stored...
    Any hints on these problems?
    Thank you!

Great to see your offer to help here, thanks!

  • XMP questions and more switching from LR questions too.

    Hey all,
I recently downloaded the trial version of Aperture 3, as I'm thinking about switching from Lightroom 2. I do have a couple questions about XMP data though.
I understand that if I switch over my library to Aperture, I will lose all edits I currently have in LR because that information is subjective to Adobe dialog and so on. That's not a big deal, as I could just start new with Aperture while still keeping my old LR catalogs.
What I don't understand is if it's true that you can't save out edited XMP data? I work for a color-correction company, and we typically save out XMPs to send back to our clients. It appears that the only XMP data Aperture saves is core data, such as date, time, et cetera, but no adjustments. Sometimes I'll work on a photo, and, if I'm not liking my result, then send the original to a friend to see how they edit it. They will send their XMP back to me, and that way it's easy to compare and make small adjustments without having to work off a jpeg. XMP support would be the one huge thing that might be a dealbreaker.
Some thing I miss in Lightroom are before/after view mode, the ability to see my history and take snapshots (and easily revert to the original), and the ability to see what channels were clipping in my histogram.
The last question is speed. Most of the articles I've read have pointed out speed as a big jump of Aperture over LR. While I've definitely had my share of slow LR, Aperture doesn't seem to be significantly faster, if it is at all. I'm working on a MBP with 4GB of RAM and 40 free GBs on a 160GB HD...any ideas?
    All feedback is much appreciated!

I had sidecar XMP files with my Lightroom masters. Everything worked perfectly when I imported my images into Aperture 3. I would like to use both applications as I really love the map in Aperture 3, but I cannot embed the geotag information into the image, and if I want this information to be read by both applications, I use Geotagger, or Geophoto which can embed the image into the file, and that will be read by both Lightroom and Aperture immediately.
I was really pleased when I found that Aperture 3 read all the other metadata correctly!

  • CR6.4 RC1 - XMP export bug, anybody else has it?

I think I found a bug, and although I also found a workaround, here it is.
My environment: Windows 7, Photoshop CS5, Camera Raw 6.4 RC1, all of them 64-bits.
    Steps to reproduce the bug:
    1. Open several raw files at once in Camera Raw (in my case, Olympus E-PL2 ORF files, but it probably doesn`t matter). For this bug, take images that are likely to have different white balance settings. Also make sure that those are original files, never modified by Camera Raw (or anything else) and that they have no XMP sidecars yet.
    2. Wait until thumbnails are generated (may not be relevant...). Don't click on any of them, just let them be created.
    3. Click on "Select All". Again, don't change the displayed image, just select them all.
    4. In Basic/White Balance, select Auto. All thumbnails are properly updated
    5. Export settings to XMP (from the menu on the right-most toolbar, i.e. still "Basic" if you haven`t changed it)
    6. Keep Camera Raw open, and have a look at the XMP files.
The BUG : they all contain the same white balance settings (crs:WhiteBalance, crs:Temperature and crs:Tint) which happen to be the computed settings for the first image (the only one displayed so far). All other settings seems to be fine though (i.e. they are from their respective image).
However, if you go back in Camera Raw and then click on some other images, not all of them. You can see that their WB settings are different and properly computed (as far as "Auto" can properly compute them). Export to XMP again. WB settings are then right, but only for the images that you clicked on. Those that were never displayed full size still have the wrong WB settings (from the first image).
Obviously, the workaround is to click on each of them. Still that's a bit awkward, especially in my "quite-automated" workflow, where I'm not yet to the point to look at each image individually. Can't tell if this bug exist too on any other version of CR, and my E-PL2 raw files can only be opened in CR 6.4 anyway (unless I change some tags to fool CR).
Can anybody can reproduce that bug on similar or different environment? And could Adobe fix it, if it is a bug?

btw, don't know why I wrote RC1... I just meant Release Candidate!

  • Why is Acrobat DC so unstable? Why does it crash when i try to use any tool on a simple document? how can i stabilize the app so i can use it? the license is too expensive for this nonsense/

i want to be able to use the app asap - all i need to do is extract some pages from a document. the thing just keeps quitting. i installed it last night, have uninstalled it and reinstalled, and still no joy. i have also installed the reader version on my mac laptop, and the same happens there. why release so unstable a program? but that i suppose is conjecture.
how can i make this program stable is the most relevant questions.
i am running Mac OS X 10.10.2 on an iMac (21.5-inch, Late 2009). I have 8gb ram. I have the CC license, all other adobe products work well on this machine. acrobat always has too...

This latest crash occurred while Acrobat was attempting to OCR a page. This never caused crashes with the most recent, previous versions of Acrobat. What did you people do to mess things up ??

  • How can I make metadata saved to xmp file stay saved?

When a raw file badge shows that the file has been changed, I use Metadata Save to File & for the large majority of my images, the badge goes away and Metadata Status Changed does not show the file.  For some of my files, however, the Save to File command doesn't work properly.  If I am only displaying files with changes, the file briefly disappears, then returns.  Even if I go to Windows Explorer and delete the xmp file, then again Save metadata to file, it pops up again with the badge saying it needs to be saved.  Can anyone tell me what I might be doing wrong, or is there a bug?  I'm using Lightroom 4.3 64 bit on Windows 7.

I have determined one definite cause for this problem, documented (see 2nd post) here:
    http://feedback.photoshop.com/photoshop_family/topics/lightroom_4_4rc_metadata_needs_to_be _saved_status_not_cleared_by_saving_metadata
As has been mentioned, following metadata save with metadata read is a work-around.
Note: you can see exactly, everything, the difference between metadata in catalog and metadata in xmp on disk, using ChangeManager's "Compare Catalog to Disk" feature; hint: choose 'No Exclusions' to see the "inconsequential" differences too. Reminder: this does a bunch of stuff involving xmp file copying and saving xmp / reading metadata / restoring afterward... - which presents lots of hoops to jump through, at first, in Windows, and forever, on Mac, but if you tough it out, you will get the pot of result gold at the end of the hoop rainbow...
    Cheers,
    Rob

  • Possible to generate xmp thumbnails for PDF files in Acrobat?

    Hi,
Apps from the Creative Suite 5.5 allow to embed a tiny preview (as XMP thumbnail) when saving to some .ai .indd or .pdf file. However, I could not find the option in Acrobat X Pro.
Such XMP thumbnails prove useful when visually browsing through PDF documents in Windows' explorer. I'm surprised Acrobat X lacks such a feature whereas other apps from the Suite do it fine.
Please not I'm not talking about embedding page previews, this is a completely different topic.

sample file, you can use any name and append the xml data elements too...

  • Problem writing meta data changes in xmp in spite of enabled settings

    Dear Adobe Community
After struggling with this for two full days and one night, you are my last hope before I give up and migrate to Aperture instead.
I am having problems with Lightroom 5 writing meta data changes into xmp and including development settings in JPEG, inspite of having ticked all three boxed in catalog settings.
In spite of having checked all boxes, Lightroom refused to actually perform the actions. I allowed the save action to take a lot longer than the saving indicator showed was needed, but regardless of this no edits made in the photo would be visible outside Lightroom. I also tried unticking and ticking and restarting my compute.
Therefore, I uninstalled the program and the reinstalled it again (the trial version both times). I added about 5000 images to Lightroom (i.e. referenced). After having made a couple of changes for one photo in development settings, I tried closing the program. However, then this message was then displayed:
I left the program open and running for about 5-5 hours, then tried closing the program, but the message still came up so I closed the program and restarted the computer. I tried making changes to another photo, saving and then closing and the same message comes up. The program also becomes unresponsive, and of course still no meta data has been saved to the photo, i.e. when opening it outside Lightroom, the edits of the photos is not shown.
What do do? I would greatly appreciate any insights, since I have now completely hit the wall.
    Oh yes, that´s right:
What version of Lightroom? Include the minor version number (e.g., Lighroom 4 with the 4.1 update).
    Lightroom 5.3
Have you installed the recent updates? (If not, you should. They fix a lot of problems.)
I installed the program two days ago and then for the second time today.
What operating system? This should include specific minor version numbers, like "Mac OSX v10.6.8"---not just "Mac".
    Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10_8_5) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/31.0.1650.63 Safari/537.36
What kind(s) of image file(s)? When talking about camera raw files, include the model of camera.
    JPEG
If you are getting error message(s), what is the full text of the error message(s)?
    Please see screen dumps above
What were you doing when the problem occurred?
Trying to save metadata + trying to open images that it seemed I had saved meta data to
    Has this ever worked before?
    No
What other software are you running?
For some time Chrome, Firefox, Itunes. Then I closed all other software.
Tell us about your computer hardware. How much RAM is installed?  How much free space is on your system (C:) drive?
    4 GB 1333 MHz DDR3
Has this ever worked before?  If so, do you recall any changes you made to Lightroom, such as adding Plug-ins, presets, etc.?  Did you make any changes to your system, such as updating hardware, printers or drivers, or installing/uninstalling any programs?
No, the problems have been there all the time.

I think you succeeded in partly convincing me. : ) I think I will go for a non-destrucitve program like LR when I am back in Sweden, but will opt for a destructive one for now.  Unfortuntately, I have an Olypmus- so judging from your comment NX2 might not be for me.
    Hi AnnaK (see below).

My old snaps are JPEG, but I recently upgraded to an Olympus e-pl5 and will notw (edited by RC) start shooting RAW.
Note: I edited your statement: I assume you meant now instead of not.
If you start shooting raw, then you're gonna need a raw processor, regardless of what the next step in the process will be. And there are none better for this purpose than Lightroom, in my opinion. As has been said, you can export those back to Lightroom as jpeg then delete the raws, if storage is a major issue, or convert to Lossy DNG. Both of those options assume you're willing to adopt a non-destructive workflow, from there on out anyway (not an absolute requirement, but probably makes the most sense). It's generally a bad idea to edit a jpeg then resave it as a jpeg, because quality gets progressively worse every time you do that. Still, it's what I (and everybody else) did for years before Lightroom, and if you want to adopt such a workflow then yeah: you'll need a destructive editor that you like (or as I said, you can continue to use Lightroom in that fashion, by exporting new jpegs and deleting originals - really? that's how you want to go???). Reminder: NX2 works great on jpegs, and so is still very much a candidate in my mind - my biggest reservation in recommending it is uncertainty of it's future (it's kinda in limbo right now).

There is a plugin which will automatically delete originals upon export, but relying on plugins makes for additional complication too.
    Which plugin is this?
Exportant (the option is invisible by default, but can be made visible by editing a text config file). To be clear: I do not recommend using Exportant for this purpose until after you've got everything else setup and functioning, and even then it would be worth reconsidering.

What I do is auto-publish to all consumption destinations after each round of edits, but that takes more space.
    How do you do this?
    Via Publish Services.
PS - I also use features in 'Publish Service Assistant' and 'Change Manager' plugins (for complete automation), but most people just select publish collections and/or sets and click 'Publish' - if you only have a few collections/services it's convenient enough.

No - sorry, maybe somebody else does.

  • Is there a way to read/write original .xmp settings of a CR2 loaded as smart object onto a .psd layer?

Hello all. This has been asked in varying degrees before, but many of the discussions I found relative to my question are from the period 2010 to 2013. Thought I would throw this out there again medio 2014 to see if anything new has developed that I'm somehow missing.
    Here's the situation:
    1. In the filesystem, a CR2 file and a sidecar .xmp file with ACR settings applied via Bridge (CS6).
    2. CR2 file is opened in Photoshop (CS6) as a smart object (.xmp sidecar settings are applied in the process).
    3. CR2 file and .xmp now exist on a .psd layer as a smart object...in some unknown form.
    4. File is saved as .psd
    My question is this:
Is there ANY way at all via Bridge and/or Photoshop scripting to read/write/access/touch/poke/prod the original ACR "development" settings, originally stored in the .xmp sidecar file, that apparently now exist in some form on the smart object layer in the .psd? Via scripting in Bridge, one can alter the metadata on this saved .psd file, no problem, but this is not the same .xmp data that is being referenced by the image loaded as a smart object onto the .psd layer in that file. Where is this second set of data? Can it be accessed?
Any info, enlightenment would be much appreciated. Thanks.

    No, not too late.
InDesign is for layout for press in this case.
Photoshop is for design, which is using the .jpg's.
I'm half way there, but stuck at:
Getting a file location reference when the .jpg is first brought into PS as a layer.
Getting a script to write the location of the file into the medata for the PSD in some field
Reading back the metadata file location for the .jpg and bringing it back into the PSD again.
Any help would really be appreciated.
I can make the completed script(s) available when its complete, as this has possibilities for other uses, batch process, and more.

  • Bridge CS6 Mac XMP File Info Panel Bug: can't copy and paste metadata

The cmd-keys / shortcuts doesn't work in the xmp file info panel btw. in the xmp / iptc fields (e.g. cmd+c, cmd+v, ...) of Adobe Bridge CS6 (Mac OS 10.6.8 and 10.7.3). You are not able to cut and paste info from one box to another like previous versions.
This bug only appears in the xmp file info window (opened via alt+i) in Bridge CS6 - if you edit information or metadata in the file info panel in Photoshop CS6 copy and paste from one field to another works.
The shortcuts also work under Windows (tested under Vista).
I noticed this minor bug already one in the Photoshop CS6 Beta more than one months ago. I hoped that this was corrected in the official test version, but unfortunately it is not. Although it is a minor bug, it is IMHO a basic function and would be very helpful in my daily work - it is too bad, that such a small thing is making working with the application a little bit annoying.

Thanks! If there is a workaround or simple solution, I would be very glad if you could inform me.

  • DCP 23.976 24p

I need to make a DCP from a 23.976 material I have no trouble with the video but last time i did the 0.1% time change to the audio I had lot of sync problem's.
I finally vent to some cinema sound guy who told me the only solution to the problem was using some Pro-toole ploug-inn. So we did so and it worked. It took like 8 hour to render the file, but it worked. This was a lot of trouble and expensive so I ask is there a way to do this in Audition?

Yes,  I'd have you try two things
    1) Restamp the sample rate that is in the audio file.  This is the "Edit > Interpret Sample Rate" command.  So if your audio is too fast, then set the sample rate to be 47952 instead of 48000, save the file and then try it in Premiere Pro.  It will take a long time to conform in PPro.  If your audio is too slow, then set the sample rate to be 48048 and so forth.
    2) You can resample the file directly in Audition with its high-quality resampler by using the Effects > Time and Pitch > Stretch and Pitch.  Look at the speed up or slow down presets, and adjust accordingly, paying attention to the new timecode duration shown in the effect.

  • Custom xmp in Lightroom?

I have written a few custom xmp panels that work beautifully in PS, IL, IND, Acrobat, Portfolio etc.. Alas I can't seem to access this info in LR.
Am i missing some crucial step?
I have the txt file in the adobe custom xmp panels folder but it is nowhere to be found in Lightroom's workspace.
    Thanks.
    a

I have also experimented with customized XMP data with Bridge and found it quite powerful and useful. You do need to work with a bit of Javascript to do this, but this is not too difficult to learn.
For example, you can create your own namespace (e.g. "http://ns.mynamespace.com/customdata/1.0/"). and then a series of custom fields (e.g. CustomSetting, CustomName, CustomGroup etc.).
You can then add this namespace and custom fields to any image (except RAW) without affecting any of the existing metadata or the image itself. Once you have this extra metatdata imbedded in images you can use it in a number of other metadata-aware programs for advanced searching or sorting purposes.
Creating a custom metadata field is better than using an existing metadata field (e.g. IPTC fields) for your own purposes. In this way you are free to define the purpose of these fields without worrying that other programs will mess-up this metadata or choke on your image.
    Regards, Nigel

  • XMP basics - Creating custom file for catalogue

    Hi,
I have read other discussions, but fall at the first herdle.
From what I undersand XMP can embed custom data int your images. This is great for me.
I have a database of rugs (excel format), and unnassociated images. I would like to find a way to embed information about the rug (e.g. size, weave etc), so I could filter images according to these attributes, and potentially print it, under the images when outputting to PDF/Web.
However, I dont seem to be able to create a custom file. I have CS5 and want to run through the images on Bridge. I have downloaded a toolkit for CS5 @ http://www.adobe.com/devnet/xmp.html, but this seems to be for flash.
I was hoping to download a file, paste some information onto, and import/link this data to the images, but this doesn't seem possible.
My programming skills are too limited to get deep into it. Please help, or let me know if I am wasting my time.
    Thanks,
    Rami

    Hi Rami,
I agree to Olaf and Paul that an ExtendScript seems to be right solution for you problem -- the batch insertion of metadata into your images.
If you have a little JavaScript knowledge (or a programmer at your hand), you should download the Bridge SDK which contains a very detailed JavaScript Guide and Reference: http://www.adobe.com/devnet/bridge.html
