DE failure to recognise ereader

Digital Editions does not recognise my ereader

Yeah it's Apple Mac Mail. It gets confused. If you do a search for your topic "Can't Send" or "Can't Receive" Emails you will find Thousands of threads on it.
Your best option is to find some other Mail program that actually work correctly all the time.

  • Failure to recognise internet account

I have suddenly stopped receiving e-mails on one of my accounts
I checked Preferences, but the System fails to recognise that account.  I have checked that the account details and password are corect.  When I tried to reload my account details the system said that that account already existed.  However, it still fails to recognise that e-address for incoming messages.
Any ideas what might have gone wrong?

  • Failure to Recognise ACR on new Canon D70 whilst continuing  to recognise D50 images in ACR ACR

C 5Ext says that the D70 is not supported. Lightroom 5.3 however does recognise it an opens in ACR - what is going on.

Because your LR is newer than your PS/ACR version, you should be using Edit in PS with LR Adjustments, rather than Open Anyway, and if you are not being asked that question when you invoke Edit In because you indicated not to ask the question, again, at some point, then you should reset your warning dialogs using the button with the same name in LR Preferences.

  • Tether Failure Not Recognising Camera

I use Canon 1Ds MkII for professional commercial photography and undertake the majority of my work tethered. Installed latest Aperture up-date/pro-fix and have not been able to tether since. Aperture does not recognise the camera. Has anyone experienced this and/or have come across a fix?

You have no idea how many people have posted here trying get Aperture stop recognizing their iPhone.
In any case, try this: launch Image Capture, go to preferences and see what the drop down next to "when camera is connected, open" says. Change it to Aperture.
If that isn't it, what does aperture do when you specifically choose the Import command?

  • Printer and printer-scanner isn't recognised by Acrobat 7.1 Professional, though it is by Reader

I'm running Acrobat 7.1 Professional with latest updates, on a WinXP system (SP3). Printer-scanner is a Brother 420CN and a laser printer HL 2040. Neither is recognised by Acrobat, although I can print to them from Reader (latest version) and any other program. This failure to recognise printer occurred failry recently, possibly after a recent update to Acrobat? I've tried "Detect and repair", but it appears to not run. (A dialogue screen flashes and disappears too fast to read) I've reinstalled Acrobat using the msi file in the Acrobat folder. Nothing has made any diference - still no printer!
In print set-up or print, a dialogue box asks "Before you can perform printer related taks, such as print set-up or printing a document, you need to install a printer. Do you want to install a printer now?". On selecting "Yes" another box opens stating that "Operation could not be completed. The print spooler service is not running" However on checking component services, print spooler is running! I've checked this both before and after going through this dialogue.
I was unable to reinstall Acrobat over the present installation using the opriginal CD as it recognised the installed (and updated) Acrobat as being of a later version than the version on the CD, and I didn't want to uninstall and then reinstall as I wanted to keep the document history. (Is history in a file that I can copy and keep during an install, or is it not deleted during uninstall?)
Has anyone else faced and solved this printing problem? Has anyone any suggestions?
Thanks in advance for your advice

If you are using a Windows based computer, follow the instructions for resetting the AMDS >  How to restart the Apple Mobile Device Service (AMDS) on Windows
Reset the AMDS then see if the battery will charge while the iPhone is on.
    If not, try a reset.
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
If that doesn't help, tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings
No data is lost due to a reset.

  • Strange behaviour since installing iTunes 7.1.1 upgrade, (my iBook that is)

Since installing iTunes 7.1.1 update only a few days ago strange things are happening.
    1. Incorrect disc and track names
I insert a music CD, the usual question comes up: do you wish to import this CD into your iTunes library? I click on yes and wait a second the CD title and tracks are all wrong. usually it is something I imported a short while ago but once it came up with a disc title I must have imported like 6 months ago
Yes I remembered to check the box for automatic gracenotes access but still this error comes up. If unknown disc, and track 1, track2 etc came up that would make logical sense, but I never saw this before.
If I then click on Access gracenotes assuming the data is available it comes up correct.
    2. Failure to recognise disc already imported
If I take out the disc and insert again the one I just imported, up comes the question again "do I wish to import?" I thought iTunes was smarter than that.
    3. Plying audio affects slide bar action adversely
While checking through sound files in a Finder window, I play an aiff or MP3 file from the Quicktime style control bar displayed there, while the audio is playing the blue bubble at the bottom of the window does not move smoothly when I try to move left or right.
    Note:
I've been trying to organise my music library onto a remote hard drive to free up hard drive space. I did this by copying the folders out of the default iTunes music folder into another iTunes music folder on the hard drive such that all the other related folders are present in the main iTunes folder. Could this move be the source of my problems?
    iBook G4, 1.07 GHz   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

Here is the latest on the iTunes problem.
Focussing on iTunes issues only, (I think there are some system issues which I will try to resolve in the appropriate forum).
    1. About 6 months ago my hard disc was so full of music fies I moved most of my iTunes music folder content to DVDs for later transfer to an external HD drive.
    2. Now I have a small portable HD onto which I have copied all iTunes music folder content into one place. I created a new folder called 'iTunes music' and within Finder I moved the files and re arranged and re-named some of the subfolders to make better sense of the library structure. Incidentally some of the folders seemed to have got locked, and marked as owned by the system? I don't understand how this happened.
    3. When I run the iTunes 7 application it finds the new music folder but only a fraction of its true content is displayed as playlists in the left hand column.
    4. Thinking that the application would create its own (updated) ' iTunes library' file if it did not find one in the iTunes folder when launching, I moved the existing one to another folder, but the same incomplete list appears!!
    So the question is please,
how do I get the application to construct a new and complete iTunes library file?
Have I really screwed things up?
There does not seem to be any reference to this kind of problem in the help files.

  • Unable to Execute Explain Plan for the selected SQL

When working with several SQL statements in one SQL Worksheet you execute the specific statement by selecting it and pressing F9.
The same is not possible for the explain plan though.
If you select the first SQL statement and press F6, the explain plan is executed correctly. If you try the same for any other statement, all you get is 'No SQL statement entered.' on the status bar.
    Maciej

    It is available.
    Type this in.
    create table xx (yy number(10));
    create table zz (aa number(10));
    select * from xx;
select * from zz;Run all these statements by pressing f5.
Place the cursor on 'select * from xx;'.
Press f6 gives you a plan.
Place the cursor on 'select * from zz;'
press f6 gives you a different plan.
The problem seems to be that F6 is still suffering from a statement selection bug which is already fixed for f9. That is selecting a whole statement results in failure to recognise a statement and the 'No statement entered' message.

  • Pioneer issues continue...through tiger 10.4.6?

    Hi there,
****, seeing all the related issues peops are having with DVD drives and OSX begs one to ask, why aren't the manufacters trying to suss out a solution?...
well, like a great percentage of others here, I'm having the
"trouble" with a new pioneer DVR-112D installed on my mac, along with a fresh install of Tiger 10.4.6... seems to read and write DVD's without stress but trying to burn some humble ole files to a humble ole CD-R seems to cause grief...through both Toast and i-Tunes! the finder won't even recognise the blank disc! getting "write errors, drive errors and failure to recognise disc errors"...
have tried patchburn, verify, repairs even exchanging the DVD drive for a new one...same prob...
is there something I'm missing here??

    Hi-
    Welcome to Discussions!
Have you tried a different brand of media? Media quality makes a difference. Verbatim is recognized as a quality, highly compatible brand.

Does the drive read CD's? If you can't read CD's, you may have a bum drive (on the CD side). The CD laser could be bad.

  • T500 will not boot from bootable CDs/DVDs, but will read and open files on them

System: 2 T500s, both manufactured early April 2009, win XP, ATI Radeon 3650 graphics,4GB RAM, latest Lenovo drivers installed..
Problem:-   Our 2 T500s cannot boot from any windows coded recovery CD -except Lenovo's rescue/recovery discs. Some -but not all- Linux code recovery CDs do boot the T500. Every other kind of CD and DVD such as audio and video works fine in windows XP.
Here an example of our 2 T500s' failure to recognise bootable CD/DVD discs. All the files and folders on a Paragon Partition Mgr v8.5 Recovery CD can be viewed in windows explorer and files such as jpg, txt and zip can be opened. This CD will not boot the T500, however, it will boot our other -non-Lenovo- computers. The same applies when the media are DVDs with identical content.
We have tried several different kinds of CD and DVD media to no avail. Burning the media on other computers and using several kinds of burning software does not help, ourT500s refuse to boot from them too.
The problem seems clear enough, on starup our T500s fail to distinguish between windows coded bootable and ordinary CDs/DVDs -unless they are Lenovo recovery/restore discs.
A solution would be gratefully received.

Thank you for your very kind assistance,
Q: "1. Did you apply the DVD firmware fix here?"
    A. It was` already installed on our 2 T500s. We have also applied just about every driver update from Lenovo.
Q: "2. Did you try booting from a USB optical drive that you first attached to another system where you could verify that booting from it was possible?"
     A. Yes, many times from a USB CD/DVD drive, it failed too. We burned on that drive too, but the T500s will not boot from those CDs either.
Q: "3. In this thread the solution was to use another burning program than Roxio..".
     A. We have used the Paragon internal ISO creator/burner, the Roxio burner that was preinstalled wth the T500, BartPE internal ISO/burner ,InfraRecorder and others too. Made ISOs and burned from them, burned CDs directly on the fly etc, all to no avail..
For some reason, our two T500s' CD/DVD drive controllers or some intermediate software act as if the CD's boot sector is not present. Clearly, something (BIOS, software, unstable hardware, or ? ) is blocking the read or write of the data necessary to boot these CDs. Whatever that 'something' is, it has no effect on burning and booting Lenovo recovery CDs.
The bizarre part of all this is that a`Lenovo recovery CD burned on the T500 drive WILL BOOT the T500. A Paragon v8.5 recovery CD or BartPE CD burned in one of our non-Lenovo computers will boot ithat and every other computer we have except our T500s.
PS Thank you for the link to the new version of Roxio, will download and install it.

  • BT Openzone keeps logging me out

Ever since I got my iPhone, I've had trouble using BT Openzone. BT Openzone keeps logging me out and bringing up a login page in Safari, even if I stop using it for only several minutes but stay on the hotspot. I've spoken to Orange and BT, but although they admit there must be a fault, they haven't resolved it. I understand that I need to log in once to BT Openzone using my mobile number and password that Orange give me, and then BT Openzone is supposed to remember my iPhone's MAC address indefinitely if I subsequently connect to any BT Openzone hotspot. The password that Orange issued me (which I can't change) is not designed for repeated use, as it can't be easily remembered or typed. What could be causing this, and should it be Orange or BT whom I pressure to resolve it?

    PAWY wrote:
I had the same problem with BTOpenzone. I resolved it my just turning the option Settings/Wi-fi/'Ask to Join Networks' to OFF.
Thanks for the reply. However, clearly the problem is server-side rather than client-side, given that returning clients are recognised through their MAC address rather than any client-side settings that a wireless network is unable to interrogate. Therefore I did not expect the advice of changing client-side settings to work, and it didn't when I tried it.
BT Openzone today told me that when I log into BT Openzone, they transmit my MAC address to Orange for authentication. If Orange doesn't validate my MAC address immeditely, then the login page is presented in the browser for me to enter my user ID and password, which is likewise transmitted to Orange for authentication. BT are blaming this failure to recognise my MAC address on Orange. Are they right?

  • Keyboard: Lost Volume Controls and CD Eject after (****) RAM upgrade

G5 1.8 MHz tower, OSX 10.4.8: Upgraded RAM, chips kept producing errors, so replaced them with different brand. However, during the error/shutdown/reboot process the apple volume keys and CD eject buttons stopped responding. Replaced keyboard with working spare, rebuilt permissions, tried disconnect and reconnect, changed keyboard for Macally Icekeys and installed software, zapped PRAM, carbon-copy cloned OS to another G5 (1.6 MHz) on which the keyboard worked, and found the error recurred after the new OS was up and running. Recurrs in admin and user boots on both G5's. Therefore must be in OS. Didn't want to do reinstall of OS, so hoped I could find relevant code and review it. Only effects the volume up, down, mute and CD eject keys on apple pro and macally keyboard. Now how's that for bizarre?
Nothing in system prefs seems to permit modification of keyboard, Macally installation didn't fix it. Assume during reboots with faulty (unsuitable) RAM - which was DDR 400 3200U chips, 512Mb, 3.0n/s (not 2.5 - unobtainable here at present) the OS became corrupted. (Hence copying startup drive to other G5 reproduces the error.)
Interestingly software options such as commandE in iTunes and Toast6 work to eject. I think therefore it's a keyboard recognition problem, only for those four keys.
Nobody can say I don't try hard to cause (and resolve) problems.
My FINAL SOLUTION will be to reinstall the OS, and do all the upgrades again, but I thought I'd see if anyone else had any thoughts. Oh, I didn't reset the CUDA switch once I'd decided it was probably software related.
    (Classics, SE's, LC's, PPC's) iMac's, eMac's, G3's, G4, G5's, G5 iMacs,Powerbook G3   Mac OS X (10.4.8)   Reluctant PC user also (Don't ask)

Further: Finally used Cartbon Copy Cloner to copy boot drive to spare HDD, then reinstalled OSX, copied original files/preferences etc back, and keyboard works, fully functional.
Did have to do all the updates for OSX10.4 iof course. But still no anwer as to why?
A failure to recognise keyboard, corrupt system files.
    No thoughts?
    No easier solution?

  • Why i left

Sorry guys, I hate to leave but after getting irritated again by spotify's design i bit the bullet and last night moved my subscription to Rdio.  My frustration is on the general experience i get using the spotify service, I appreciate this maybe different to the rest of you so please dont take this as an attack, its merely my personal experience and some of these may not mean anything to you.  My requirement is simple, I want to be able to kick back with songs i like and get a continous flow of tracks i like or are near to what i like, and find new music. Whilst listening, if im not busy working (as i am now of course) I want to maybe check latest releases and store interesting albums, play them now or queue for later, I would then decide if i like the track or few tracks to 'save' the album, but i may only like several songs on the album that much to say they are favourites. I want to be able to playback the whole album another time, and sometimes only play the album with just favourites included. At the same time i want to be recommended tracks, albums or artists based on my listening and favourites. Rdio meets these requirements and does it with good design.  So some of the things that frustrated me are: - the save songs/albums is terrible, i have posted about it several times and noone can really tell me why albums cant be saved seperate - downloaded items arent easy to find or reset (in Rdio there is a 'downloaded' section)- removal of starred tracks (favourites work well in Rdio, you can favourite tracks, albums, artists) (personal radio stations in Rdio work brilliantly) - when i want to queue up albums or tracks there are too many extra steps, one of my posts was introduce a 'play later' button (Rdio queues work so much better)- discover is not based on my actual favourites, merely a random collection, of which there is no way to easily preview the album or track (theres trending songs, new albums, recommendations etc all seperate in Rdio, i found i was listening to music for 2 hours last night finding new music) - to go offline you have to click a tiny button go to settings and then click a switch to offline, as downloaded tracks are good for driving (not using dataplan) the use of tiny buttons is daft in my opinion. (a swipe and tap is all thats needed in Rdio)- cast not supported, on tivo or chromecast (rdio works well on chromecast)- you cant dislike/like songs to enhance recommendations (you can in Rdio)- when a playlist ends music stops (in Rdio theres a function that plays another load of songs based on the last music listened to) - constant updates with nothing really changing- slow load times of lists or screens- unable to hide albums or playlists that you dont want to share- failure to recognise trends from the community or communicate decisions made with some level of empathy Generally i know the above arent big things, and some would argue they arent really important but for me these are only words, the fact is using Spotify frustrated me, and it shouldnt have. it seems to be geared toward a single user and not me, not the way i want to listen to my music. So moving away from it seemed the best thing in search of a better experience.  I do not regret it, Rdio is brilliant. simple yet intuitive. Fun to use. Ok, I needed support from their tech desk with an android issue but tbf got a personal 'empathic' response within an hour, noone from spotify ever really seems to care, undeniabily the way the starring was ripped out was a good example of this.  I seriously couldnt be happier cancelling my spotify subscription and moving to Rdio. I know its the best move for me to enjoy streaming music collections again. Good luck to all you waiting for basic things to get better, but tell you the truth your better to leave and try another service,(rdio has built in chromecast support btw)  FYI - for those interested I used re/spin to port all my spotify playlists and apart from a few hours of setting up favourites and a few niggles, the app is now upto date, working well and has me remembering the good old days when spotiy was designed with the users goals in mind. See you on the other side ladies and gents and best luck.

Came here to post just this, looks like I've got beat to it. I've been with Spotify for a while now, and it looks like the efficient and minimalist coding it all began with (by the same guy who did the super thin and fast utorrent client?) has gone well out of the window, and the program is sluggish, unintuitive and VERY irritating to use. Organising albums is still the biggest chore in the world, but at least it used to be a smooth and quick enough program for it not to be so taxing. Filters and search, local tracks are now completely separate to your library (or at least mine don't show any more) and STILL no equaliser. Most of this (and more) applies to the mobile app. I genuinely hope something else comes along as a good alternative and addresses all these issues - goodbye for now spotify!

  • A1288 iPod stuck in recovery mode; all troubleshooters fail

I have an A1288 iPod touch (2nd generation, largely unused I am told) stuck in recovery mode. It spontaneously entered recovery mode while I was attempting to remove all songs from it. To my knowledge (it is a borrowed device -- this is why recovery is of paramount importance), it has not been modified from factory settings.
Windows 7 Home/Premium does not acknowledge the device's existence; there is not even a message that the device cannot be recognised. The computer does produce a sound to acknowledge that something has been connected/disconnected to a USB port; however, the device does not become visible anywhere.
Other devices, including other iPods (without iOS), are recognisable. The problem persists regardless of the Windows 7 computer to which the device is connected. iTunes and Windows 7 are fully updated. The Apple Mobile Device driver is completely up to date.
I have completed the troubleshooters for failure to recognise ( http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1538 ) and for iOS restoration ( http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808 ; I do not receive the recovery mode alert from iTunes) multiple times. (I have deactivated AVG and Firewall.)

Try DFU mode and then connect to computer and restore
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try restoring again
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Sim not recognised / SIM failure

Hi all, hope you can help a frustrated iphone 3GS user
I was given the phone by a friend a few days ago and had it unlocked (from Orange) before I flew home to Spain.
I put in my Vodaphone payg sim card but the phone keeps coming up as sim failure.  I managed to get the phone to synch with my itunes account by putting it in flight mode, I can get the wifi working, music .. everything ... but can I get it to recognise the sim card and let me make a call ... no!!!!!
I know the Vodaphone sim card works as I have another phone here.  In settings / phone / my number is showing "unknown".  At the bottom is still an Orange button so you can link to their site
Sometimes it tells me the sim is locked, and then I put in the pin but nothing changes .. still cant make a call.
The phone was unlocked with an invalid sim card in it I think.
So anyone have any ideas?  As far as I know UK iphones work with Spanish SIMS, ...... I'm beginning to wonder if the unlock has worked, which is a bit annoying because I paid £35 for it as I was in a rush
    Would appreciate any thoughts
    Thanks
    Jon

No, it doesn't give me any satisfaction. I think services like the one you linked to and the "stores" that will 'unlock' iPhones for people should be shut down and their owners jailed for the criminals they are. They can not deliver the service they claim to deliver. It saddens me to see people here on a daily basis who have been robbed.
Every carrier that offers unlocking has slightly different policies for processing an unlock request, so it's not possible to say there is no way you can buy a second hand iPhone and have it unlocked, but it's not a good bargain. Buying a second hand phone that has ALREADY been legitimately unlocked is OK. The problem there is being able to trust the seller that it wa actually legitimately unlocked and not hacked. Hacked phones will revert to their locked state if iOS is restored or updated.
