Dead pixel repair, dead pixel repair

I have a dead pixel in my macbook pro (black pixel), there's any software or video to repair that??? Thank you so much.

Hi l,
In the "old days" of LCDs, some people had success "massaging" the affected area. I wouldn't put to much hope into that, but it's something you can try.

  • Difference between dead and stuck/lazy pixel?

OK, I have a 4 month old powerbook and 3 months ago dead/stuck pixels started appearing on my screen (Believe it or not, ever since I bought it I have never touch or let anyone touch my screen, I clean it with the smooth cloth I use to clean my glasses). I brought it to an apple center in melbourne, and they said that my warranty doesn't cover it unless I have a certain amount of it on a certain area of my screen or I have 8 of them across my screen.
I heard that u can't fix dead pixel and that we can only unstuck stuck pixel? is this true?
Then can anyone tell me If the problem I'm having on my screen are stuck pixels or dead pixels? I use a software called Pixelcheck to check, It loops on my screen with R,G,B, black and white wallpaper.
    I have one thats:
    - OK on red
    - Turns black on green
    - OK on blue
    - OK on black
    - Turns red on white
    And another one thats:
    - OK on red
    - Turns red/white on green
    - Turns red on blue
    - Turns red on black
    - OK on white

    Hi
First of all I should point out that a pixel as we usually refer to them is actually made up of three sub-pixels. One of each of the primary colours, red, green and blue and it is the combination of these sub-pixels that give us the various colours on the screen.
A dead pixel / sub-pixel is one that remains black whatever the 'signal' being sent. A stuck sub-pixel is one that is always on and will show up as one of the three primary colours.
Apple have a policy on stuck or dead pixels and it depends where on the screen they are as well. I thought the number of faulty pixels was five, but I would check with Apple to see if that is correct.
Some people believe that 'massaging' the area of the screen can 'repair' stuck pixels. But I think you need a liberal application of snake oil to make it work myself

  • Dead pixel or stuck pixel??

    Hi,
Have just received my Core 2 MacBook, I'll cut straight to the problem.
There's one problem pixel on the display. A little way below and left of the centre of the screen. The pixel is black when on a white, red or blue screen, however the pixel is capable of displaying green, i.e. when I pass a green panel over it, it appears as normal.
Does this indicate that the pixel is dead, or merely stuck? Or to ask my question in another way, will the Pixel Widget (or similar flashy thing ) have any effect on it?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hello
I had 6 dead pixels on my macbook pro screen. I was quite annoyed about it.
After a huge research I did find solution. At least you can try it is for free
It is a small Jawa applet which flickers and can unstuck pixels.
I had 6 dead pixels. After using this flickering applet for 10 minutes 4 of the pixels disappeared They were in the center of the screen.
The last two are placed on the top of the screen. On the top dock where the blue apple is. Fortunately there is no way I know about how to hide this dock. Therefor stuck pixels remain. (if you know how to get this flickering applet over entire screen please let me know, the videos on the website did not work for me)
Anyway check this website and good luck, Hope it helps.

  • Can image for blue pixels and report pixel x,y coordinates

    Hi
I am not sure if I am posting in the right forum so please excuse me.
I have a number of images (100 +) which are 400 pixels by 400 pixels each. On these images I have a number of blue dots which are probababally 2 by 2 pixels each. I want to write a program that will scan an image for me and report the exact point of a blue dot back to me i.e. I want in pixels the x and y coordinates of the blue dots.
    Notes
An image can contain zero or more blue dots.
Some blue dots may cross other blue dots (very rarely)
    Urgent help needed please!!!

  • Pixels/cm vs Pixels/inch

    Hi,
Is there a setting in the Photoshop scripting that determines whether images export in pixels/cm or pixels/inch? The software program that we have written will ask the user for a preferred print resolution (always using pixels/inch), and will then output the images to Photoshop at that preferred resolution. However, for some reason, on some computers it saves the images using pixels/cm. For example, in our software the user may choose to export at 250 pixels/inch, but when they subsequently open the exported image in Photoshop, the image size shows the size as 98 pixels/cm. Changing the Photoshop preferences doesn't seem to affect this in any way.
    Cheers,
    Ian

    Hi Ramon,
Thanks for your suggestion, however the Preferences> Units and Rulers setting does not have anything to do with the Contact Sheet function. The Contact Sheet function itself asks for the Units (which I set to 'cm' as I want to specify the contact sheet dimensions in cm's). The 'Resolution' is a separate setting that I set to 'Pixels/Inch'. I have a friend who is doing exactly the same thing as me and the Resolution gets set correctly as 'per/inch' in the final contact sheet. Their Unit/Rulers preference setting is CM so this proves that it is not related to the contact sheet function.
The reason I don't think that the preferences is the issue is because this behavior is happening on 3 separate installations on 3 separate machines.
I will try this anyway and see how I go?
    Cheers

Hi there is no SAP standard process for this. I can give you work around for that.
1.. Receive the repairable product in the warehouse from customer - Normal customer returns or customise a movement type to receive it with our without value as per requirement
    2. Do the inspection in warehouse - Normal inspection
    3. Create a service PO with the vendor.
    4. Send the repairable product to the subcontractor to do the repair - Send using 541 movement type to vendor or use the copy of 541 movement type to send to vendor.(you can refer PO also system does not validate)
    5. Receive the repaired product from the subcontractor - Reversal of 541
    6. Send the repaired part to the customer.
    7. Bill the customer

  • My MBP won't boot anymore after "repair disk" and "repair disk permission"

My 2011 MBP 15 with Lion stopped working after I attempted to use Disk Utility to "repair disk" and "repair disk permission".
It was having weird issues before I attempted the repairs, it was freezing every few seconds no matter what I am doing, the whole thing would freeze with only the mouse movable. then after a few seconds it goes back to normal again. This happened after I downloaded and installed some updates from Apple. I don't know if the updates would cause this or it's something else.
In Disk Utility, "Repair Disk Permission" took 5 hours.  While "Repair Disk" resulted in "Disk utility can't repair this disk. Back up as many of your files as possible, reformat the disk, and restore your backed up files".
Now when it boots, there's a loading bar under the Apple logo, it loads half way and shuts down itself.
I can still get into CMD+R Utilities though.
Any idea how I can extract the data out of the disk?  I'm going to format and do a clean install.

A stopped loading bar is indicative of a failed firmware install that didn't complete, it's trying to install and is failing.
    Do a PRAM reset
    https://support.apple.com/kb/HT1379
Reboot into Safe Mode, (shift key down) then reboot normally and see if that fixes the issue.
    https://support.apple.com/kb/TS2570
You may have to try to reinstall your firmware manually, you'll need another disk burning Mac
Find your exact firmware(s) here (or on Apple Downloads page)
    https://support.apple.com/kb/HT1237
    Apply instructions here
    https://support.apple.com/kb/HT2213
Lastly it could be your boot drive is failing or something wrong happened with the update and accounting for all the to the other issues.
A OS X "overwrite" may solve the issue, may not.
    See 10.5, 106. 10.7 OS X "overwrite" here

  • How do I make a pixel stay a pixel?

It surprises me that after several thousand hours of using InDesign, I still don't know how to place an object and know what InDesign is doing. Amazing, really.
Playing around with CS6, I thought I'd jump into the Digital Publishing mode and see what goes. I really thought a pixel would have been a pixel, but nothing's ever easy in InDesign. I'd like my placed images to come in pixel-for-pixel. As it is, they come in with this formula:
    Pixel Width (CS6) = Pixel Width (Image) * 72 / (Image DPI)
So a 989 crop from a slide scanned at 4000 dpi, comes in as a microscopic dot on the CS6 page, with a width of 989 * 72/4000 pixels. At least CS6 does the maths correctly and states the width as 17.802. But I would like the width to be 989 (as shown in the "W" box up top).
I'm not fussed about whether one image-pixel actually maps to one screen-pixel (that's probably beyond CS6), just a simple: if an image comes in as 989 pixels wide, then CS6 knows it is working with a 989-width image, and displays it as a decent-sized image and not a spec of dust.
What boxes do I have to tick to achieve that (other than typing in "400000/72 %" in the % box).

You are approching it from the wrong way, even though you say yourself that
    > [a]t least CS6 does the maths correctly ..
What would you like, then? That ID does NOT take DPI in consideration?
There is no "box to tick" to work in pixels. InDesign is designed to work with physical dimensions (since it's meant for print output, NOT screen -- pixel-based). "The" pixel as a measurement unit does not exist.
To work with pixels and live all of the side effects of that (such as that your image "dimension" will be different on different monitors), you need to work in a pixel-based program, such as Photoshop.

  • Disk utility repair doesn't repair os disk

    Disk utility (13) keeps saying
    Invalid B-tree node size
The volume  could not be verified completely.
and, once it has shown "updating boot support partitions for the volume as required", says "This disk needs to be repaired. Click Repair Disk."
But I'm getting the impression that clicking repair disk does not help - even after about ten times, the messages stay the same.
I can't re-partition the disk as all those options are grey, even though I'm booted from an external USB drive.
The machine is a MacPro, early 2009, OS X 10.9.3 (13D65), disk is encrypted journaled HFS+, used to have a Bootcamp partition a few years ago but is now a single partition.
I can probably no longer boot from this drive, each time takes longer and last time took almost thirty minutes, so I'm really looking of a good fix.
    Any suggestions?
    Regards,
    Bob

    Eric,
I've first tried Disk Utility when booted from the Recovery of the disk itself. Didn't help and also didn't offer a re-format option.
I've then made a USB bootable, booted from that and tried Disk Utility - didn't help.
I've then booted from the Recovery of the USB and tried Disk Utility - didn't help.
I've since used diskutil reformat on the command line and found to my surprise that the disk is now empty but the "Invalid B-tree node size" remains.
It seems reformatting does not reset the indexes of the disk
And every now and then I still see a remark about the "Windows boot.ini files" - which I also wouldn't expect after reformatting.

  • How can I "repair disk" with Repair disk grayed out?

My external back-up has been complaining of late, Time Machine can no longer access it, and now, after trying Verify Disk, it stopped that process and told me to use Repair Disk.
Repair Disk is grayed out. But my WD unit isn't even six months old.
    Where do I turn?

I found a Grab of part of the response from Verify Disk.
If that's impossible to read, (1) blame Apple and (2) let me know -- I'll punch it up.

  • How to: Cut Selection to 0 pixels by 0 pixels using alpha channel

    Hello,
I am trying to understand an action I found online. The action can be used to age a photograph. In this action
there is a part that cuts a selection 0 pixels by 0 pixels using an alpha channel.
For the past few days I have tried to duplicate that part of the action. And needless to say: I failed beyond words!
All I want is to cut away the so called marching ants, not the part inside or outside of the selection, marching ants
    only.
The original action can be downloaded here:
    http://mutato-nomine.deviantart.com/art/Vintage-Photo-10893481
Thank you for taking a look.
    Kind regards,
    TackoDing
    (Pardon my English, I'm Dutch)
Here's an image to give you a rough idea of the final result:

    Silkrooster,
I only wish to cut the marching ants of the selected portion.
Unfortenately when I use CTRL+X or EDIT>CUT the whole portion gets cut,
not just the marching ants (cut selection to 0pixels by 0pixels).

  • Use 40 black 1 pixel x 400 pixel vertical lines, and create an experimental composition using varying vertical spacing?

Ive been pulling my hair out on how to do this all day and im getting no where i dont even know where to begin! Please help if anyone knows how to do this.

    enforcer4u,
she said posting here if help was needed was a good idea...
This is Classroom in a forum.
I believe the first line should have read Use 40 black 1 pixel x 400 pixel vertical lines, and create an experimental composition using varying vertical > horizontal spacing.
One way (she may be following this thread, you know) would be to:
    1) create a horizontal/vertical (composition Three/Four) line with the Pen Tool with a length corresponding to the whole composition and two or more Anchor Points, ShiftClickDragging at each with different lengths of the Handles;
    2) Create a vertical/horizontal line by ClickDragging with the Line Tool (or just Click with the Line Tool and set the Length and direction, then move a copy (ShiftAlt/OptionDrag the original, start dragging a tiny bit before you press the keys);
    3) Object>Blend>Blend Options, set Spacing to Specified Steps, 38 steps;
    4) Select the lines from 2) and Object>Blend>Make;
    5) Select both the Blend from 4) and the line from 1) and Object>Blend>Replace Spine.
Other ways include creating the first line and then ShiftAlt/OptionDragging to create the other lines up/down/left/right depending on composition, or creating or all the lines (maybe using the blend) and then ShiftClickDragging individual lines.

  • PNY 128 GB "This disk needs to be repaired. Click Repair Disk"

I have used three PNY 128 GB USB drives on my iMac.  One works fine, one worked briefly but was never recognized again, and the third has the following problem.
New out of the box today, it was recognized immediately on the iMac (FAT32).  I reformatted it to OS X Journaled with no problem.
I tried to encrypt it, but got an alert that it had to be partitioned with a GUID partition scheme first.  I created 1 GUID partition for the entire disk without issue.
I then encrypted it with no problem.
When I tried to remount it, it didn't show up.
Unlike my other PNY 128 GB that was never recognized again, this drive did show up in red text in disk utility.
I verified the disk in disk utility and got the following alert "This disk needs to be repaired. Click Repair Disk.'
When I run "Repair Disk," it runs then gives me the alert again "This disk needs to be repaired. Click Repair Disk."  It never repairs the disk and just keeps the same loop going.
I have restarted the computer, mounted and remounted the drive numerous times and get the same result.  I have a fresh install of Yosemite (due to a number of other issues with the iMac).
Can I do something or does this go back to the store tomorrow?

OWC and Amazon carry nice small external drives like following.

  • Stuck pixel or dead pixel?

I have a question I'm hoping someone can help me with. I recently purchased a macbook off of craigslist. It was purchased by the original owner in February so is still under warranty. A few days ago I noticed a single dead/stuck pixel in the lower left part of the screen. Not sure if it has always been there and I just didn't notice it or if it just popped up. On a white screen it appears slightly reddish, on a red screen it's not visible, on a blue screen it's not visible, and on a green screen it's black. My first question is whether this would be a stuck pixel or a dead pixel? And secondly, do I have any chance at all of this being fixed under the warranty? I don't have a Apple store in my area or I would take it in there to get looked at, so I'm relying on you guys for support. I've tried using the various "stuck pixel fixer" images on the net that flash colors, nothing seems to work. I tried lightly massaging the pixel, but am not really crazy about putting too much pressure on the display.

That's an odd combination of appearances. If it's not visible on red or blue then I would assume it's a stuck pixel rather than a dead one (which should appear 'off'/black on every background colour), although it should only disappear in sympathy with the colour on which it is stuck (i.e. either red or blue, not both).
You can phone Applecare and ask them about it, but I think you'll find they'll only do something about it if you have a certain number of 'pixel anomalies'.
    See here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1721?viewlocale=en_US
    Best of luck with it.
