Dead Zones

My iPod Touch 2G has developed Dead Zones. I brought it from Singapore. Warranty is over. Will I get replacement if I take it to the local Apple Store ?

Hello mate,
Send it back to warranty. Problem with the screen....

  • How to disable status bar from creating a dead zone in the simulator

Is this a known bug in the simulator, where a hidden status bar is still grabbing touches? I constantly get frustrated by the inability to click at the top 20 or so pixels of the screen because that is a dead zone, and even though I have a hidden status bar the status bar is still grabbing touches there. Any way around this? And will this happen in the iPhone version, or is it just the simulator?

You have a point, if your users are filling the form in with Reader, they won't be able to save the data with the form unless the form has been "Reader Extended" (which enables this functionality in Reader for the particular form)
If you have Acrobat Pro, you can "extend" the form before you send it to the users.  The following is from the Acrobat Pro help...
Enable Reader users to save form data
Ordinarily, Reader users can’t save filled-in copies of forms that they complete. However, you can extend rights to Reader users so they have the ability to do so. These extended rights also include the ability to add comments, use the Typewriter tool, and digitally sign the PDF.
       1. Open a single PDF, or select one or more PDFs in a PDF Portfolio.
       2. Choose Advanced > Extend Features In Adobe Reader.
These extended privileges are limited to the current PDF. When you create a different PDF form, you must perform this task again if you want to enable Reader users to save their own filled-in copies of that PDF.

  • Adobe Flash Player not working for Armorgames Dead Zone

I used to play Dead Zone on Armor Games a while ago, when I recently attempted to start again, it will not start. I have followed all the troubleshooting steps provided by both you and Armor Games. I can load the game on facebook but it does not have my save file. I normally use IE and I get stuck loading with this screen if I try to http://i1367.photobucket.com/albums/r786/adam_smiley1/IEArmorGames_zps7ad1f35f.png if I attempt to use FF I get this error instead http://i1367.photobucket.com/albums/r786/adam_smiley1/FFArmorGames_zpsf81f75d4.png. FF will never recognize that I have ANY version of Flash installed in this case. I have also contacted Armor Games Support for this Issue. I do not have troubles with any other game, just this one. Please Assist.

Hi, Since youtube/Google have not responded to the issue, no one knows for sure what their problem is. This is what I found and posted here last night. Then what I found and posted this morning, which you evidently found about the https.
It appears either one or both are being used to try solving the issue. It's been users coming up with these, not youtube nor Google. It effects all browsers, even Chrome. The only one I haven't seen so far is Safari. Flash Player version doesn't matter, nor Operating Systems.
    From last night:
YouTube just updated their video player, so the old version could still be cached in your browser causing it to fail. I would suggest rebooting, and if that's already done then make sure your drivers are up to date.
If that does not work make sure you download the new version of flash.  Posted3 hours ago
No, I had the exact same problem but it worked the second I cleared my internet cache which could have to do with what another user above said about that.
Go to tools, options, clear recent history, and only check the 'cache' option, clear now, okay, and then refresh or exit it and open it again. I didn't even have to restart my browser. I'm using firefox too, by the way. Good luck! I hope this helped!  Posted 2 hours ago
    From today 7/7/11:
Now youtube is having major issues as you could read from what I posted. There is nothing wrong with your computer nor Flash Player. Here is what many users are doing in addition to clearing the cache, history etc.
They are using https instead of http. So try it. Here is one that you can check to see if it works. If so, use the https until youtube/google respond.
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N1RiMHpUi1w
Until we hear from youtube or our own Flash Player Team, since I'm sure they are in touch with youtube, I don't know what else to do.
My guess is, that if youtube changed their video player for the videos, then that would be a factor. Right now it is a wait and see.
    Thanks,

  • IPad "Dead Zone" near Home button

In certain apps, my iPad screen has an unresponsive area about an inch or more along the edge closest to the Home button. I need to rotate the screen orientation so that controls I want to interact with ware out of this dead zone. For some of my friends experiencing this same issue, the problem mysteriously "fixed" itself one day with no update to the app nor iOS version. Most people I know using the app have never had this problem. Several people I know even have the same model and iOS version as me. I just don't get it.
Has anyone ever experienced something like this or know what could cause this? At first I thought it was a software problem, then a hardware config problem, now I'm not sure what it is.

Are you in the US?  If so, google Craigslist, find your local one and do a search for iPad repair, you ought to be able to find something there to help and at a reasonable cost.
Your AppleCare has expired on your iPad 2, so no, the Apple store cannot help you.
If you purchase your next iPad, from say ebay, you can get a TWO YEAR warranty from Square Trade, they are EXCELLENT, I have had a few items under their warranty go bad over the years, I call them, tell them what's wrong, they send me a PRE PAID SHIPPING LABEL, I send the item off, within 7 day my original purchase price is back in my Paypal balance!  I HIGHLY recommend them.

  • I bought airport extreme to increase coverage in my 2 story home.  It uses an ethernet connection. There are dead zones which I had hoped to cover with the addition of the airport extreme, but it didn't help.  Any suggestions?

I bought an airport extreme to increase the coverage in my 2 story home.  I get good fast coverage in some spots on both floors, but complete dead zones in other areas.  The airport extreme did not help.  It is connected by ethernet to my cable modem which has a high speed connection.  Is there a configuration I should try to help with these dead zones?
    Thank you- CC in Minneapolis

Please check out the following AirPort User Tip for details on how to best place your base stations for maximum coverage.

  • Dead zone near the notification center "sliding" zone

I've noticed that on IE11 and webviews (didn't check with regular apps), when you touch the zone where you would slide down the notification center, there is a half a second latency before the event is dispatched. I assume this is to enable the user to slide
the notification center without triggering a touch event on the page/app, but in my case this latency can be really inconvenient.
Is there a way to disable the notification center sliding in an app or at least to disable this "dead zone" near the top of the screen ?

Disabling touches to StatusBar area with:
    Windows::UI::ViewManagement::ApplicationView::GetForCurrentView()->SuppressSystemOverlays = true;
fixes this problem. It took some digging, but I'm happy to say it works.

  • Dead zone?

How is it that there can be a dead zone in my house for incoming calls but I can make outgoing calls perfectly from the same spot?  Quite often I'm sitting in my kitchen and get a notification that I have a voicemail - the phone hasn't rung and there is no record of a missed call.  The signal is just fine - I immediately make an outgoing call to voicemail to hear what I've missed.  Thanks

Using Airport Utility > Airport > Wireless > "Wireless Options..."
    What are your settings?

  • Droid Virtual Keyboard Dead Zone - can't type p,l or DEL

It seems that my screen now has a dead zone in the bottom-right part of the screen. When I go to type the letters p,l or DEL, i get the letters to the left of them (o,k,m). The odd thing is that I can click directly on o,k,m and it works fine. It's almost like the keys were remapped.
Anyone else experience this one? Defective phone? I've had it for quote a while -- no cracks in it, no bad falls. Help!
Oh, and a restart or a battery pull did not fix it. Nor did a keyboard app replacement.

I have almost same issue... This is my post on the htc support forums.
I just got my incredible in the mail. I was trying to enter a couple contacts. I found the letter "t" will not type. Switched to number mode. It is even worse, Can't type 5, %, ), all are in the same column. Contacts will not allow you to turn the droid on its side and use the horizontal keyboard. Tried calibrating the keyboard it makes it worse. I can touch the letter "Q" and drag my finger across the screen and every letter in that row will highlight as I drag over it except the letter "t". Same thing happens in number / symbols mode start at either the 1, !, _,  drag across everything will highlight as it is touched except the 5, %, ). I have 3 other coworkers with the incredible they do not have this issue on their phones. The issue occurs for them when they try on my phone so, it is not me fat fingering. They all got theirs at least a month before me. So I am wondering if it is an issue with the new screens or just a defect in my phone?
    UPDATE
Called htc... No help suggested factory reset which I didn't mind as I have no data on the phone yet. Did not work. Next suggestion... Download a keyboard app... The free ones are crap. Why should I have to pay extra to make the device usable? I thought a working keyboard was apart of the initial $200.

  • Dead Zone then not coming back....

is it happening to anyone else that when u enter a dead zone (no signal) your iphone doesnt get the service back on when u leave the dead zone?? everytime this happens i have to turn on the airplane mode and back off to "restart" the service.
    any help?

Yup, try setting it up as a "new phone" in iTunes, but if what you're saying is true and it never comes back into service then that will probably be your only option, if it does come into service again, just live with it. But you seemed to have found a quick way about it by putting it in and out of Airplane Mode.
I'm replying because I get the same problem where it goes into one of the many deadzones in my area and then does take about a minute or 2 when I know I'm out of the deadzone

  • How to finalize iDVD burn with dead zones

  • Dead zone on iPhone touch screen?

My iPhone 5 suddenly has a dead column on the touch screen where it won't respond at all. It started suddenly in the middle of texting. I've had this phone for almost a year and never had a problem. Any advice? I tried turning it off and back on, etc.

Well it was clearly a dead column in the display...I took it to the Apple store and they installed a new display module while I shopped. Came back 1/2 our later and it was as good as new! And it was under warranty so I paid nothing.

  • Random WiFi dead zones in the house???

So I've noticed that I have at least one WiFi dead spot about 8 feet from my router, but its ONLY on the iPhone that I have the dead spot. I can go out in the yard, to the other end of the house, the front and back porch and get WiFi but if I sit on one particular end of my couch its nearly impossible to access my home network. When I am able to access it, it drops after a single page loads in safari.
Has anyone else experienced this or know what could cause this? It works with my Blackberry, my iBook, the Wii, my work laptop, and everything else, EXCEPT the iPhone. Any ideas?
I should also add that I do show WiFi at 2 of 3 bars on the iPhone's signal meter. The router is a fairly new Netgear Rangemax Wireless N and I have verified that it does have excellent range.

I have noticed that my MacBook often has the same problem as your iPhone. The Airport network will drop out totally, while my iPhone works fine.
My guess is that the signal from the router is weak in that spot due to interference within the wireless signals themselves. I'm sure there is some nice and complex mathematical way to show that these dead spots exist, but I find just moving my router to the side or shifting the position of my device slightly fixes the problem.
At least you know you're not the only one!

  • Text "dead zone" in tables

    Go to this page:
    http://thedecoartist.com/ARCHERwebsite/CAT_USinteriorDetails.html
In Dreamweaver I cannot select any text in the far right two columns of the table with the text cursor. The only way I can either edit or enter text into those two columns is by either tabbing from the column to the left or using the arrow key to walk the cursor into that column.
Also when I tab into either of those colums and enter text it's not visible until I tab out to the next column.
Am I doing something wrong or is this a known issue?
    Thank you for any help.

I have not heard of this issue before.  What OS/version are you using?  And what version of DW?

  • I phone Touch screen Dead Zone

I have had my I phone since it first came out.
Now a year and a week after I got it. My lower1/4" of the touch screen dose not responde to touch making the phone useless.
It kind of ***** because I treated this thing like baby the whole time I had it.
The phone is in perfect not one single mark on it never been dropped or wet.. I took it to get check out and all they did was run a restore.. that didn't help.
They said it would have to be sent in but since my warranty was over a a week ago I would have to pay $199...
dose any one know a way to fix this with out having to pay 199 on a phone I paid $499 only a year ago.
    Please help

You have really take a diplomatic approach. Apple has some longitude in certain areas.
Try to go into an Apple store and tell them that this issue had started to appear and you didn't pay close attention to it, and now that you are 1 week out of warranty it appears to be a defect. Face to Face interaction at the store is the best place to start.
If that fails try calling customer service. If you still have problems, then right a letter. Yes, good old fashioned pen and paper - NOT EMAIL. Politely detail the timeline and attempts to get this fixed. There are other threads about this issue (search for them), so maybe mention that others have experienced this too, but be prepared to have references (the thread or newsgroup where you found the issue). When your letter is finished send it registered mail/return receipt requested to Apple customer service.
It never hurts to mention how satisfied you are with Apple products and a loyal customer. Don't lie or go over the top. Be truthful, polite and factual. Ask to have your device repaired or replaced, but don't ask for a new 3G unit as they will then think you are trying to scam them.
You want to make a good case for yourself, and acting in good faith, try to show them that this is something that they should cover under warranty. If you can show lots of others had the same issue, then they will most likely cover this for you.
    Good Luck!

  • Do "Dead Zones" move around?

I recently upgraded from and IPhone 4 to an IPhone 5 three weeks ago.  With my IPhone 4 I was able to make and receive calls in my home and the reception was good anywhere in the house.  With my new IPhone 5 I usually have just 1 bar and no matter where I stand in the house the reception is awful.  I can hear one or two words the per sentence from the person I am talking to. If I do have 2 bars I can sit perfectly still in the same chair facing the same direction and watch the bars drop to one in a matter of seconds. I went to the Verizon Wireless store where I bought the IPhone 5 and asked about this and their only suggestion was to get an extender, which is not cheap. Three weeks ago, I didn't need an extender. My house hasn't moved so why is my phone service so much worse?

Roaming agreements change, trees bloom, more people using the towers (population), made made structures... yes, they can change.
