Death of a spouse -- kills AU-based credit history?

Hello everyone.  I have tried doing a lot of google searches on the credit scoring implications of the death of a spouse.  They seem exculsively interested in whether the survivor is liable for the debts of the deceased. My question is different.  In the case of my aging parents, my father has traditionally handled money issues: loans, mortgages, paying utility bills and credit cards, etc.  He's been doing this for probably at least 20 years, maybe 30. My mother probably has four credit cards, maybe five.  But it recently occured to me that it is possible that the actual accounts are in my father's name, and she is actually just an Authorized User -- perhaps on one, two, or all five. If that is so then I am guessing that, if my father were to die first, then for every account of his on which she is only an AU, this account would vanish from her report fairly soon after his death.  Is that true?  Or would the account stay on her report but as a closed account?  (Thus giving her the benefit of its age for another ten years.) My concern of course is for her not to go in an instant from 20+ years of credit history to no history whatsoever.  Does anyone know how an AU account is handled upon the death of the account's owner? My guess is that this is easily solvable by my father putting at least a couple of the older cards in both their names: joint accounts rather than her as an AU.

Unfortunately, this is a problem that is driven by the DRM Dictatorship.  Despite the proliferation of mobile devices and the fact that there are many of us who do a lot of international travel, content providers don't want you to have access to their products outside of your homeland.  The Balkanized mentality of the DRM Dictatorship is way out of touch with the modern world.
At least Apple, to its credit, allows you to use your accounts outside of your homeland as long as you have the proper credentials for them.  Most other services use the more Draconian geolocation filtering which does require you to be physically present in your homeland.  For the most part, you are not allowed to leave home if you want access to your favorite entertainment!

  • Verizon employees admit their error--then Verizon decimates my credit history, and my life

Hurricane Sandy knocked out Time Warner's high-speed cable internet service in my NYC neighborhood for a few days. I would later learn that Verizon FIOS and DSL were both disputed in other neighborhoods, but in the immediate post-Sandy confusion, Verizon sales staff targeted non-Verizon customers in areas where Sandy had disrupted cable internet but not Verizon service. My contact with the outside world having been just restored, Verizon offered me the "deal I couldn't refuse": Just "try" Verizon high-speed DSL for 30 days. "No obligation. If you don't like it, simply cancel within 30 days, and  you'll owe nothing," So I figured, Heck, why not, I'll take the "free" trial.
I quickly learned that Verizon DSL service is worth about as much as Verizon had said I'd have to pay. (Nothing.) In the third week of experimenting with Verizon's shockingly slow, unreliable service , I sent Verizon written notice of cancellation, via my online account page on Verizon's own site, well within the 30-day deadline, stating clearly that I wished to cancel within the 30-day trial period, and that I found the service almost worthless. Verizon ignored me, and in subsequent months sent me bills for increasing hundreds of dollars. I responded with increasingly strident ALL CAPS messages demanding Verizon honor its 30-day "no-risk" trial offer, within which time I'd canceled. Verizon continued to ignore me, sent increasingly threatening notices for ever larger amounts "threatening" to cut off the so-called "service" that I'd long since stopped using, finally did cut off service, and then sent me notices claiming I owed nearly $400.
I called and spoke with two Verizon representatives, the second of whom acknowledged a mistake on Verizon's part. She promised to have the matter resolved.
I then heard nothing for nearly a month, at which point Verizon or the entity to which it "sells" its "bad accounts" reported to all three credit bureaus that I'd defaulted on my account (the existence of which it was also reporting for the first time to the three credit bureaus). Amount claimed due: $150. My credit rating, which I'd be carefully protecting and improving upon as I'm of trying to refinance a mortgage, dropped to its lowest level ever. The banks that service my credit cards consequently slashed my credit lines, increasing my debt to equity ratio, and further decimating my credit rating.
At this point, even if Verizon corrects its false report that set off the falling dominoe effect in my credit reports, at best it would take months if not years to repair the damage Verizon caused my credit history through a fraudulent report. More likely, the damage is beyond repair. I cannot refinance my mortgage, and I am stuck with a 30-year interest rate on which I'll pay many tens of thousands of dollars extra over the next several decades thanks to Verizon's lies, deceptions and violations of my legal rights and fundamental normal of human decency.
As if all that isn't bad enough, Verizon's 3rd-party bill collector never ceases calling me, 8 a.m.. to 8 p.m.. I'm just one person, and I never wanted any business relationship with Verizon at all. Yet this corporate monstrosity and its vultures mercilessly, endlessly trample over my life. "Just pay the 150 bucks and be done with it," you say? Of course I'd pay {please keep your posts courteous} their unlawful ransom, but even if that finally made them go away, it wouldn't repair what they've done to me.

  • AMEX Approved!!! 6 month credit history today!

Today is my official 6 months of credit history and received an Experian FICO score of 677 (still debating spending the money to find out the other scores). I applied for AMEX Plenti and got approved!!!  Not only that, but a $5000 limit!   Should I apply for any other AMEX cards today?  I thought I saw that they use the same pull if you apply the same day.  And if so, which card or does it matter? Thank you again myFico members!  I cannot believe this is happening!   (I had NO credit score 6 months ago, and a thin file... now I have Chase Freedom and Amex Plenti!)

Plenti is probably their easiest card to get right now, so your approval doesn't say anything about likelihood of other approvals. 2. The fact that you just got a card might cause them to deny you automatically. 3. Your scores aren't that strong  yet. 4. Best bet is to wait at least 6 months before applying for another Amex card.

  • Tried to buy an iphone online. Lack of credit history.  Got some questions.

Hey, just tried to buy an iphone online, but cause of lack of credit history I had to pay a $100 deposit and pick it up at my local store. Does any of you know if I need to go and pick it up in person or if I could send my brother to pick it up and pay the $100 deposit, as long as I order it online in advance. Kind of on a busy schedule for the moment .

Call the local store and ask. Most likely, you'll need to pick it up yourself, as there will probably be a signature required for the contract.

  • Credit Days based credit check

    1) Credit Check should be according to credit value and No. of credit days
    e.g 60 days-90 days-120 days
if credit is available but credit days are crossed the order/delivery should get blocked for above days.
Can this be maintain using any of the facility in OVA8
    Thankyou

    Hi,
In OVA8 set the following fields:
Dynamic -Check the Box and put the reaction "C"-->Also check status/Block box
Oldest open item -Check the Box and put the reaction "C"-->Also check status/Block box
Set the credit limit in tcode FD32.
As far as credit days is concerned there is no such functionality in SAP.
The Credit period would be calculated basis the payment term assigned on the customer master.
System would block the sales order either credit limit exceeds or the customer invoice has become due.
This due date would be calculated from Posting date+Period defined in payment terms.
    Hope it clarifes the requirement.
    Regards
    Sanjay

    Hello Raja,
I believe this topic is discussed earlier in this forum.
Go to T-Code OVA8 & make the following settings:
Put a Tick mark in Oldest Open Item & set Reaction as B or D. Also put tick mark in Status/Block.
Mention "0" or "1" in Days oldestItem.
This will make sure that if there is any Open Item in Customer Account, system will block creation of new Orders.
You can also use "Max.open.item %" feild as per your requirement.
    Thanks,

    Hi Sundar,
The invoice cannot be edited once it is added.
If you always need to update an invoice, please check if the following is feasible.
1, Create a draft invoice with the apporximate amount first.
2, Create payment on account (note based on any invoice) with partial amount
3, update the draft invoice and add it when you get revised bill from your vendor
4, create a payment with remaing amount due
5, reconcile the invoice with the two payment created in step 2 and 4.

  • Death of firefox ..killed by flash plugin

Firefox is very slow due to flashplugin running every now and then.I have been with firefox for last 10 years
Could not find a suitable solution to this issue. This is my first and last complaint.I am able to run things smoothly (better) with internet explorer
    so goodbye firefox

    Hello pemr1,
We are sad to see you go.
I'm confident that with a bit of work we can resolve the issues you are having with flash. I'm running the same version of Firefox on the same OS as you and am having no problems with Flash - it tends to be specific other programs or settings that are causing the issues.
Recent crashes of certain multimedia contents (this includes Youtube videos, certain flash games and other applications) in conjunction with Firefox are most probably caused by a recent Flash update and/or a malfunctioning browser plugin such as Real Player.
In order to remedy the problem, please perform the steps mentioned in these Knowledge Base articles:
    * [[Flash Plugin - Keep it up to date and troubleshoot problems]]
    * [[Flash 11.3 crashes]]
    * [[Flash 11.3 doesn't load video in Firefox]]

  • Kill Session based on  apex_040000.wwwv_flow_sessions$

    Hi,
I am trying to find a way to terminate a session which exist in apex_040000.wwwv_flow_sessions$
The requirement is that I check apex_040000.wwwv_flow_sessions$ for a particular ID and if it exist, must terminate the session.
To be done in Application Express 4.0.2.00.07
    Thank you

    Hi,
I believe that the termination of sessions is not supported. However, I am sure that I am not the only one who has found themselves in this situation?
The alternative solution would be to grammatically somehow log the user off?
    Any suggestion are welcome.
    Thank you

  • Capio showing up 3 times on my credit history

I am in the process of rebuilding my credit. I had a bankruptcy 9 years ago and a devastating divorce. Many things happened and I have been unable to get ANY type of credit whatsoever. About 7 months ago, I was reading about easy ways to start rebuilding my credit. Once suggestion was getting a Fingerhut card. I thought...what the heck. I applied and it worked! From there, I was able to add Capital One secured and a couple of other cards such as Amazon store card and a Kohl’s charge card. I have not been late at all on any of my payments. However, my score right now is 554. It went down a several points over the last few day because a company called Capio put 3 strikes on it. I am not sure what the items are, but it really made me angry. I do not know much yet about the credit-rebuilding saga, but I am reaching out to all of you in hopes that you can tell me how to get this taken care of.   Any ideas on how I can get these what it means and how I can get them removed? Thank you so much in advance for any assistance. SlippedHalo

Thank you DagsKY for the reply. I have already pulled my yearly credit report so I can't do it again (without paying). I would like to dispute them but, like I said in my original post, I really don't know how to go about doing that. I hate to sound inept, but since I have just started on this journey of cleaning up my act (credit) - any direction would be sincerely appreciated. Thank you,SlippedHalo

As it has been said, but without a US based credit card and billing address, this is impossible

Gift cards are regional as well and still require a US based address in your case. You have to show some kind of residency in said country to buy it.
