Deauthorized all computers, cant authorize a new one.
I just purchased a Mac and move my itunes library from my PC to it. Everything migrated well including the database; however, some of my content will not play indicating I have authorized 5 computers which is the max. I chose "deauthorize all computers" since I no longer need this music on my PCs, but when I go to authorize my mac it still says 5 computers are authorized. Ideas? Thank you.
Additional info on my question-
I have downloaded several hundred songs from itunes. About a year ago someone sold me their itunes gift card and apple support told me the whatever card was used to purchase it disputed the charges. While all my other itunes stuff was purchased the regular way under my account, the songs I bought through this gift card now will not authorize and I cant play them. I don't know what happened here but I I did purchase them so I should be able to play them. I tried a few programs that will convert it from aac to something else but that does not work because itunes says they are not authorized. Also cant burn to CD for this same reason. I have had these songs for at least 3-4 months and even have the email purchase receipts, anyone know how I can get to play again or is this just a lesson learned?

My old computer crashed andI bought a new one. When I went to Itunes I deauthorized all computers and then authorized my new one but I can not get my prevous purchases and I can not add my new purchases to my IPods with out it deleting all the music. How can I transfer everything that was on the old computer to this new one?
Whether you can redownload previous purchases depends upon the type of item (audiobooks and ringtones are one-time only downloads), what country that you are in (music, films, TV shows can't be redownloaded in all countries), and whether the item is still in your country's store (content providers occasionally remove their items) - what you can redownload will show under the Purchased link under Quicklinks on the right-hand side of the iTunes store homepage
Or you should be able to copy purchases back from your iPod via the File > Devices > Transfer Purchases menu option (if the drop-down menus aren't showing then control-B should get them to show).
If you have music from other sources on your iPod (e.g. copied from CDs) then there are some programs listed half-way down this page which should be able to copy them back : https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3991
Or do you have a copy of them anywhere else e.g. on your backup of your downloads/library that you can copy them onto your new computer from ? -
I have multiple authorisations and can't remember who has them. have now bought another computer and it is at its limit of 5. trying to sync my devices and cannot is the best way to de-authorise all computers then authorise this one
That really is your only option. See iTunes Store- About authorization and deauthorization.

My computer was stolen so I deauthorized all computers that had iTunes on them on 10/28/2011. I have a new computer and it was authorized for iTunes. When I checked my account it says I have 2 authorized computers, but this new computer should be the only one. How can I deauthorize whatever the other computer is? I don't want whoever stole my old computer to be able to use my iTunes account.
Get all that music back in itunes and sync again.

i need to deauthorize all of my computers before adding my new one. will my library remain intact and will i need to simply plug my ipod touch back in to the pc? thx
1. The library will remain as is. Back it up anyway.
2. Authorize that computer individually before connecting the iPod touch to it.

I have gone to all the comnputers I do not want authorized for iTunes and deauthorized them. When I log on to a new computer to authorize, it states I can only authorized 5 computers. I do not want to deauthorized all computers associated with this ID so is there another option to see what actual computers are authorized?
Thanks!Open itunes
Click the word Store at the top of your computer screen
Click Authorize -
Only one song won't play after authorizing my computer. I authorized it over and over. I even deauthorized all computers, and still same results. How can I fix this ? I'm using a MacBook Pro with iTunes 11
Hi Deb,
Deauthorizing all is definitely the way to go. You will just need to authorize your computer again after, as well as your husband's.
Here's some additional information on deauthorizing all:
iTunes Store: About authorization and deauthorization

I hope this helps!

i connected my new iphone 4 to itunes before backing up my old one but now it wont recognise my old 3gs. My name doesnt appear on the left. i want to transfer all my songs to my new one but cant sync now. can anyone help
Plug your phone into the wall charger for at least 30 minutes...make sure you have a sim card in the phone...then:
Leave the USB cable connected to your computer, but NOT your phone, iTunes running, press & hold the home button while connecting the USB cable to your dock connector, continue holding the home button until you see “Connect to iTunes” on the screen. You may now release the home button. iTunes should now display that it has detected your phone in recovery mode, if not quit and reopen iTunes. If you still don’t see the recovery message repeat these steps again. iTunes will give you the option to restore from a backup or set up as new.
Make sure you have no anti-virus software running or any firewalls...turn all of that stuff off. -
once i deactived all 5 of my computers and added my new one, how do i see my music that i have purchased
Select the store on the left side of iTunes.
Click on Purchased on the right side under Quick Links.
You can re-download your available previous purchases.
Hopefully those apply to iTunes for Windows too, but since you posted in the iTunes for Mac forum that's what you get. -
my old computer crashed so I couldnt deauthorize it, and i need to authorize my new one. how do i do it without having to deauthorize all of them and redo all of them?
... how do i do it without having to deauthorize all of them and redo all of them?
This is not possible. If the old computer is unusable the only option is "deauthorize all". -
Where is the store menu in iTunes? I updated my computer and want to authorize it. I deauthorized the old computer (and probably my desktop at a different location, and want to authorize the new one. The help says that I need to clickon the store menu in iTunes. I do not see any store menu. I can access songs that I purchased a while back, but cannot download any new purchases. If I cannot get this worked out, how do I recoup my money for the new songs? Also, can I transfer the songs I purchased to another service? Brad
It's in the same spot on a Windows machine as well

I had to change to a new Apple MacBook Pro. I deauthorized my old computer, authorized the new one and the only media that shows up are items with a cloud. Everything that was downloaded from a cd, including personal movie files, are missing. It's as if my former library is gone. How can I find it again? Or is this just Apples way of screwing with me?
No. Firewire and Ethernet are not the same. Ethernet would be used to connect the computers to your network. A Firewire cable is used to connect the computers directly. They are different ports.
The above shows what an Ethernet port and a Firewire 400 port look like.
These are the plugs used for FW800 on the left and FW400 on the right. -
My Macbook pro won't sync with my iPad. It says it isn't authorised. I have gone as far as deauthorizing all computers then authorizing the Macbook & still no luck. Any ideas?
Sorry, not sure how to screenshot on my computer, but this is what is says word for word:-
The Ipad could not b synced because the computer is not longer authorised for purchased items that are on this ipad.
To authorise this computer for items purchased from the iTunes Store, choose Store>Authorise this computer.
I have done all of that but not luck. That's when I tried deauthorising all computer which it did ok. I then authorised my Macbook pro again, it said I had one computer now authorised. I tried to delete apps via Itunes then sync to my iPad, but the above message keeps popping up & it wont do what I want. -
If I have "deauthorized all" computers how can I re-authorized my computer? The button to authorize does not appear in my account where the "deauthorize all" button once did.
Open itunes
Click the word Store at the top of your computer screen
Click Authorize
