Debug owb 11gR1

Hi everybody,
I have a mapping that validates and deploys fine. During debug, I get the following error:
DEBUG INPUT ROW: 15
TABLE: DBG$ID7_D_CLIENTES_GRP0
STATEMENT: TRACE 689: SELECT
ORA-06502: PL/SQL: numeric or value error: Bulk bind: Error in define
DEBUG INPUT ROW: 15
CursorFetchMapTerminationRTV20007
Finalizing debug package
I googled and checked many Blogs but all have solutions for version 10g or 11gR2
where it shows the line and column number where the error is, but can any one please tell me how to find in 11gR1 at what line and column the error is occuring or please can any one give me a solution or where to look for this error?
can i see code in debug?
thanks

See thread below..., the Windows 32 it and 64 bit database 11gR2 versions are now out which include OWB.

    Hi
For OWB 10gR2 and 11gR1 for example check out the article here:

  • Multi_Config expert in OWB 11gR1

Hi, I'm trying to use the MULTI_CONFIG expert in OWB 11g. I've successfully used this previously in OWB 10gR2, but in OWB 11g I keep getting an error message saying it can't find java class oracle.owb.jexpert.DataEntryTable.
Has anyone else had this problem and/or been able to get this expert to work properly under OWB 11g?
    Thanks!
    Scott

    Hi Scott
    Sorry about that....the component was missed from the install image in 11gR1, copy it to owb/lib/ext and download from here;
    http://static7.userland.com/oracle/gems/antonioRomero/jexpert.jar
    The 11.1.0.7 OWB patch should resolve this, I posted this on the UI extensions screens and referenced the link above towards the end;
    http://blogs.oracle.com/warehousebuilder/newsItems/viewFullItem$210
    Also the expert was updated for 11g (to cope with workspaces), so if you have the old version download the new one from the exchange;

    Hey guys,
I recently down loaded oracle 11gR1 (win32_11gR1_database_1013.zip) from oracle free downloads and tried to create a repository using repository assistant. It went up to 97% and hanged over there for ages. Anyone knows how to fix this?

  • OWB pukes on RESULT_CACHE function

I created a PL/SQL function that uses the result cache - it works well.
But when I try to import it into OWB, the tool pukes out the following error:
oracle.wh.ui.integrator.oracle.parser.ParseException: Encountered "RESULT_CACHE" at line 2, column 17OWB and database are both 11g.
Anyone had success importing result cached functions in OWB?

The import in the OWB 11g release did not support the result cache functions. You can still use/refer result cache functions in mappings just not import/deploy them, the OWB 11gR1 release was primarily the 10gR2 release with 11g certification and components seeded in the database.

  • Can you use 11gR2 database for 11gR1 standalone?

Do to the fact that Oracle has not released 11gR2 standalone on windows, our users want us to install the 11gR1 OWB components
I would like to keep the database version 11gR2, so installed the standalone 11gR1 on the server.
When I try to create the workspace I get the following error

  • OWB x64 bit client installed with RDBMS does not work?

Has anyone tried the OWB 11gR1 (11.1.0.7) client installed with Oracle database x64? I found out that I could not perform the following tasks:
    1. could not create a new table
    2. could not import MDL file the first time for a project (only project name is added; I had to run the second time to get all the profile and maps imported)
It throw out an OWB internal error and hangs after having the above two problems. Is there any configuration need to be done to get it to work correctly?
    Thanks,

  • Repository Browser 11gr1

    Hi all,
I am using OWB 11GR1. I am unable to use repository browser. I've run the startOwbbInst.bat file. It is opening and closing after sometime by itself.
    Could anybody suggest about that?
    Thanks in advance....

    You got it Robert,
my owbb folder contained only 500 files against the 1400 inside the owbb.war.
I extracted a fresh copy from owbb.war and now it works.
The strange thing is I got no errors when I installed Oracle 11 last week.
By the way, there's a bug related to Windows Vista.
The Repository Browser Listener need to be started as Administrator.
But starting a batch file as Administrator reset the working directory to C:\Windows\System32.
This way startOwbbInst.bat can't find anymore another batch file it references (setowbenv.bat).A quick workaround is to add
    cd C:\oracle\product\11.1.0\db_1\owb\bin\win32
(replace it with your real path of course) at the start of startOwbbInst.bat and stopOwbbInst.bat.
    Kind regards,
    Corrado

  • Dynamic import of metadata in owb?

    hello,
I have to create a data warehouse in an Oracle database 11gR1, the production system is based on Oracle 9.2.0.1, to capture data changes I have to use synchronous cdc because the asynchronous mode requires at least version 9.2.0.6
in synchronous mode I must generate views each time I want to capture the changes but in owb 11gR1 I can not import views in dynamic mode
what can you suggest to me in this case?
    thank you
    tarek

    That's unfortunate.
You'll probably have to write some PL/SQL that does one of two things. First, you could us a synonym to pull the view into OWB. You'll have to use some PL/SQL that drops and recreates the synonym every time you extend the window, to have the synonym point to the new name of the change view. You could do the same thing with a view if you are more comfortable with using a view. One of the parameters passed to the procedure would be the dynamic change view.
The other thing you could do is have a PL/SQL procedure that selects all the rows out of the change view and inserts them to a regular staging table. Similar to the procedure above, you could pass the dynamic name of the change view but the staging table would always be constant. That way it could be brought into OWB and used successfully.

  • OWB and Windows 7

Hi, we're trying to get OWB running under Windows 7. Right now, we're constrained on staying with OWB 10.2.0.4 (or possibly 10.2.0.5 if upgrade is needed). Anyone had luck getting this to run? Maybe by using the special Vista version or something?
p.s. Oracle support says OWB 10.2.xxx will not (ever) be supported on Windows 7 - but we've got to try something....
I'd try this out myself - but I don't have access to Windows 7, it's on a production control person's machine we need to get this working.
    Thx,
    Scott

    I'm running 64 bit Windows 7 and OWB 11gR1.
OWB 11g won't work properly when installed natively - there are far too many places where exceptions are trapped and ignored - hiding errors.
OWB works fine when installed in a 32bit XP VM.
If you are on Windows 7 Business or Ultimate, you can install Windows Virtual PC and XP mode.
Install in a VM and it works fine. Windows 7 actually has some nice integration features to make this layering of Operating Systems a little more transparent.
I think the problems relate to the 64 bit java vs the 32 bit java and the crappy exception handling that went into OWB.
A well written java program (see SQL Developer) shouldn't have too much difficulty in the port to 64 bit.
I'd wager that OWB will never make it to 64 bit. Some form of the future merged OWB and ODI will make it's way to 64 bit Windows.

  • Error while deploying a Cube * OLAPSYS packages invalid

    Hi,
I'm really new with OWB, I'm using a Oracle 10.2.0.4, and OWB 11gR1 (Windows Server).
I'm having a problem while trying to deploy a Cube (a simple cube, that I made to try to understand how this works).

I check the OLAPSYS schema I found a lot of package (including CWM2_OLAP_MANAGER) Invalid, I try to compile them but without success, and I didn't see what is missing (cause it is encrypted).
I didn't Installed this database, so I don't know what they did to upgrade it from 10.2.0.1 to 10.2.0.4, but:
There is a way to re-create or reload all this packages?
    I really appreciate your help!
    Thanks

  • How to import flat file with date in filename on a regular basis

    Hi,
    Using OWB 11gR1
I have a file that will be delivered to an FTP each night with the date in the filename having the form YYYYMMDD-FILE.txt (ex: 20100326-FILE.txt) that I want to import to an external table.
Now I've set up the import to the external table but am only able to import files that I specify the name for exactly. I've tried pointing to filenames such as "*-FILE.txt" and "%-FILE.txt" but that only results in errors.
It must be possible to automatically import files with different filenames but the same structure, or isn't it? Could anyone help me solve this it'd be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you in advance.

    Hi
    For dynamic files you can;
    1. either do the DDL on the external table to point to the file with the changing name
2Copy the file to a fixed name before using the external table/maps
    3. Use the preprocessor to cat/pipe these files for the external table. See the post here http://blogs.oracle.com/warehousebuilder/2009/06/file_staging_using_external_table_preprocessor.html it shows using gunzip but could simply be doing 'cat' on a bunch of files to standard output

  • How to cope with surrogate id's after migrating to OWB10gR2

We are busy converting an OWB 9.2 environment to OWB 10gR2.
I already had problems with the way dimensions and cubes are used in OWB 10gR2.
Some of my dimensions will have a steep growth curve because of the level rows that are inserted into the new dimensions. These new rows exist to enable you to link cubes to dimensions at all levels and not only to the lowest level.
But when building the new mappings surrogate keys will also be used to make the join between dimension and cube but this again causes problems for existing reports.
In OWB 9.2 we prepared the cubes and dimensions in the staging area and then loaded them into the data warehouse.
We can still keep the existing columns in the newly defined dimensions we have to add the surrogate keys. But when loading data with the new dimensions and cubes the cubes will refer to the dimension with the new surrogate id’s and not with the old id’s which the business keys are now. So we are losing the relation between cube and dimension based on the business key and we have it now based on the surrogate key.
But the reports we have (made with Information Builders) are still working with the relationships based on the business id’s but since the foreign keys in the cube refer to the surrogate id’s instead of the bushiness id’s the reports will return without results.
I know I can resolve it by redesigning the reports but this is a lot of work and not the way we want to go.
    My alternative solutions are
    1.keep the new dimensions
    but rename them
make views with the old dimension names
in the views switch the old business id and surrogate
the reports will then work with the views and the old joins will keep
    on working
2.do not use dimensions and cubes
migrate the mappings to use tables , as a matter of fact this is what
you get after importing a 9.2 MDL into 10.2
    no change in table names
    the reports keep on working
Alternative solution 1 is rather dangerous because the column names are switched; this makes the model more difficult to understand
Alternative solutions can become a problem if we want to use slowly changing dimensions, we have to build them as we would have done in OWB 9.2, this leads to complex mappings.
Are there any other alternatives, can somebody advise for the best answer to these challenges

    Well, couple of ideas here.
First off, do you HAVE to use levels in the dimension? For some of our dimensions, we just define a single "default" level, and tie all attributes to it. For example, with a time dimension, we'd define a default level, and then tie month_id, month_name, quarter_id, quarter_name, year_id, and year_name to that default level. This works out well - you basically get a "flat" dimension with all attributes on the row, thus preventing the generation of keys for the other levels. You'll still get a DEFAULT_LEVEL_KEY, but it will always equal the dimension key and you can just ignore the column.
FYI - I've just started playing with OWB 11gR1, and I discovered a few minutes ago that when setting up a dimension level, you don't appear to have to have the surrogate_id attribute turned on. Not sure if this works yet, will let you know.
Last and not least, I read your problem re: the business keys vs. surrogate keys to be "we used business keys instead of surrogate keys as the dimension PKs and fact table FKs on our initial DW, and now we have to migrate that...where OWB of course wants to use surrogates. Couple of thoughts. First off, I don't think you're going to get any auto-magic way to do this - using business keys instead of surrogate keys is definitely non-standard.
The one suggestion I would have is to do this: keep the original business IDs on the fact table as their own columns. Set them us as "measures" with a data type of varchar2 or whatever they already are. OWB will still of course create the "proper" FK columns based on the surrogate keys, but your users will still be able to join based on the "old" business id joins. The only real price you'd have to pay for this option is a) it takes more space per row on the fact table, and b) you'll probably have to do some indexing. OWB will build the proper bitmap indexes on the surrogate keys, but you'll probably want to add bitmap indexes on the business ID columns.
    Hope this helps,
    Scott

  • Use of patch_paris_repos_sys.sql & patch_paris_repos.bat in OWB11gR2?

    Hi Gurus,
I am using OWB 11gR1 & Oracle 10gR2 as a repository database on a windows machine.
There are patch_paris_repos_sys.sql & patch_paris_repos.bat given in the

What is the use of this script?
Has anybody ever tried this script?

  • Mapping complete - process flow busy

    Hi all,
I've a problem with a process flow I've imported from another server.
If I run this process flow in the testing server it runs and complete without problems.
Now, I've imported this process flow in the production server but it doesn't complete. In Audit browser I see that all mappings have "complete" status but the process flow is still busy after 1 hour.
In the process flow there are 7 mappings and 3 user defined operations that use shell scripts.
    What I've missed?
    Oracle and OWB 11gR1
    OS: Sles 10
    Thanks
    Gul.

    Hi Gul,
We are using OWB 11.1 and we've experienced the same thing.
    We solved this by:
    - adding an index on the runtime repository
    - clean up the runtime audit tables
    - collect statistics on the runtime tables
There should be plenty information about the step above.
If you're not familiair with it, then I can include it in a next message.
    - check the process flows for errors.
We found out that some process flows got corrupted after export-import.
    Some transitions had flase numbering.
Example: a mapping had an success (0), error (1) and warning (1).
The error and warning lines had the same number.
After correcting this the flows worked correctly.
    Regards,
    Emile
