Debugging Help - NetBeans IDE

I am trying to debug java programs in NetBeans IDE but when I start the debugger using F7 Key, it points to some old class file that I had debugged previously.
Can somebody suggest what's going on? What setting do I need to do in order to debug my current class file/ source code.
Any help would be greatly aprpeciated.....
Thanks!

  • Please Help.  NetBeans IDE Problem + rt.jar.  Trouble compiling MIDlets.

    Hi all. For the past few weeks I have undertaken learning Java for mobile devices. I am having a slight problem with NetBeans 5.5 which I would appreciate help in fixing.
    Currently installed on my system:-
    - Wireless Toolkit 2.5
    - NetBeans IDE 5.5 + Mobility Pack
    - j2sdk1.4.2_13
    - jdk1.6.0
    - jre1.6.0
    - javaee sdk5_02
    (So pretty much every Java application!)
    Now the problem. Basically, if I import the following at the beginning for my MIDlet...
    import java.io.*;
    import java.text.*;
    import java.util.*;
    import javax.servlet.*;
    import javax.servlet.http.*;
    import java.sql.*;... the java.sql has red line underneath saying "package does not exist". Now, what I found is that I need to import .jar files into the Library section. I managed to fix the javax.servlet package and some others, by importing the correct .jar files, but I found that to remove the red line for java.sql I need rt.jar.
    However, this is located under one of my jre folders and not the j2me / jdk folders I have. Even though it removes the red line, when I compile the project I keep receiving "PREVERIFY" errors and "CONSTANT POOL" errors.
    Yet, if I remove the rt.jar file, these go away, but it won't compile then because it says the package is missing (back to square one!).
    So, any ideas please??? I have spent days and days just adding random .jar files to try and fix the problem but to no avail. An example of current imported .jar files in NetBeans:-
    - rt.jar
    - midpapai.zip
    - jdbc.jar
    - servlet.jar
    - runtime12.jar
    - classes12.jar
    - ojdbc.jar
    Try not to be too technical, I've only just started out. Lol. Thanks in advance!!

    well... J2ME world is quite diffirent from usual Java. Actually you will not be able to use much of the staff, that you have imported, including java.io.* (it will be only available in CDC), java.servlet.*, java.servlet.http.*, java.sql.*
    So don't even try to find where are those packages are located....
    Try from simple tutorial like:
    http://developers.sun.com/techtopics/mobility/midp/articles/wtoolkit/
    Or from documentation on Netbeans.org:

  • Java NetBeans IDE 6.1 Desing out of control, help needed!!! Please...

    Hi,
    I have a problem positionning the components in the desing view in NetBeans IDE.
    I see some tutorial, its look realy easy but still, I don't get the result I want.
    Did it exist a way to fix(lock) my component using the desing view?
    When I try to rezise or move my component, the others start moving to and rezise making a complet non-sense and it's the free-for-all help!
    Anyone know a link talking of desing in the netbeans more that the basic?(English or french or anyway any other language it's will stay more easy to understand than the move of the components in my interface)
    How to select deselect blue anchor when I rezising to select what components will affect another one?
    I know it's suppose to be more easy but maybe I do sometinhg wrong when I use the desing view I consider using another ide now ...
    Thanks for your help and comment!

    This is a forum for matters concerning the Java programming language, not for the NetBeans IDE. Try to find a NetBeans forum for your NetBeans problems.
    I believe there's one on nabble.com and another on java-forums.org.

    -MikeHi Mike,
    Even I got a similar error message inspite of trying to re-install atleast 10 times! So I gave up and did this:
    1) I downloded J2SE SDK 1.4.2 seperately.
    2) I then downloded JPad Pro IDE (latest version).
    Now both are working really fine for me. :-) Could'nt be bothered to try again and again.
    Its up to you if you want to get the NetBeans installation done but all I wanted was a good IDE and the latest version of the JDK. I have been using it for the last 3 days and it is working perfectly fine!
    Regards :-)

    using the following code
    try
    Class.forName("org.apache.derby.jdbc.ClientDriver");
    catch(ClassNotFoundException exception)
    exception.printStackTrace();
    but it is giving the runtime error that "Unable to load Driver"

    Try adding the following to your class:
    import org.apache.derby.jdbc.ClientDriver;
    If it produces an error, your driver *.jar file is not in the classpath.

    In the code you have posted, some places refer to '.CustomerFacader' while others refer to '.CustomerFacade' leading to issues.
    Also: Have you considered using NetBeans 5.5.1 as an alternative to JSE 8.1?

  • Sun Studio is unable to find a supported version of the NetBeans IDE at the

    I'm following the system install instructions in the Grid Compute Utility guide, Appendix A "Building a Local Development Environment" and am getting stuck on step 4, installing sunstudio. I'm running Solaris 5.10 on x86 and can run netbeans IDE without problem. Here is some info, I'm not sure what other system info is relevant:
    bash-3.00# which netbeans
    /opt/netbeans-5.5.1/bin/netbeans
    bash-3.00# which sunstudio
    /usr/bin/sunstudio
    bash-3.00# sunstudio

    Sun Studio is unable to find a supported version of the NetBeans IDE at the specified location.
    Sun Studio requires a NetBeans IDE version 5.5.1 with NetBeans C/C++ Development Pack version 5.5.1
    installed. Sun Studio looks for a valid NetBeans IDE installation in the following order:
    1) Location specified with --netbeanshome command line option
    2) At /opt/netbeans-5.5.1 location, if exists
    3) At /opt/SUNWspro/../netbeans-5.5.1 location, if exists
    4) At /opt/SUNWspro/../../netbeans-5.5.1 location, if exists
    Please run the System Preparation Tool (prepare_system), if available, to set up your environment.
    Any help!?

    Did you install NetBeans separately or let Sun Studio installer do it? The latter usually results in working configuration.
    I think that NetBeans installation simply doesn't have c++ pack; you can install one following usual NetBeans modules installation path and then re-try starting Sun Studio.
    Another option is to uninstall NetBeans and re-install Sun Studio using its installer, which should set up NetBeans properly.

  • Problem with netbeans IDE

    hey! i am a learner of j2se 5.0 and am horrible at command line compiling. so i use netbeans IDE and well it has been doing excellently till now.
    recently i had a porblem with ImageIcons and i found the exact problem which i was having but with repect to applets , that is, the images were not displaying properly. i have managed to solve the problem as far as applets are concerned, but it is not so with applications.
    the thing is when i use the run function of the IDE, it displays all icons perfectly and its as if nothing is wrong.
    it creates a .jar file which when i separately click to execute by going to its folder, does so but does not display any images. In fact it executes and behaves in such a way that it's exactly as if i have not used icons in the program- it displays everything else. should i change some setting of the IDE? but if some setting is to be changed, y is it running normally when run from the IDE( F6 key).
    also when i used the command line (after some research to learn to use it) to extract all files from the .jar file, all the images were in it!!!as well as all the class files. so i can't even say that the IDE has not bundled up the images into the .jar file.
    could some1 please help??i need help with .jar files and not applets.

    first i deefined a method as shown in the Java tutorial
    ImageIcon icon =createImageIcon("lion.jpg","name");
    ( within the contructor of the class)
    then after completing the constructor for the class- (I am trying to display an ImageIcon on the background of a JFrame)
    i provided the following definition after the constructor and b4 the main method:
    protected static ImageIcon createImageIcon(String path,
    String description) {
    java.net.URL imgURL = LabelDemo.class.getResource(path);
    if (imgURL != null) {
    return new ImageIcon(imgURL, description);
    } else {
    System.err.println("Couldn't find file: " + path);
    return null;
    this is what i did-and when run from the IDE-it is perfect, but the jar file ggenerated when executed displays every single thing-all swing components e.t.c EXCEPT the image
    the image is in the same folder as the source file- i checked because if not, an error is indicated- so that is not the problem here.
    this same exact code works perfectly with applets and they execute perfectly both from the IDE and also when executed separately.
    the same problem also iccurs when trying to display on labels and buttons.(only for JFrames not for JApplets)
    the thing is in the java tutorial the method is given for applets and so my applets worked -so is there somethin i'm missing for frames- as far as i know they r very similar as far as usage is concerned.

  • Runtime Error using JDBC Driver in NetBeans IDE 6.9.1

    Hello,
    I receive a compiler error which reads as follows;
    java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: org.apache.derby.jdbc.EmbeddedDriver
    java.sql.SQLSyntaxErrorException: Schema 'DEMO' does not exist
    Heres the main body of code i am trying to execute.
    public class Main {
    @param args the command line arguments
    public static void main(String[] args) {
    // TODO code application logic here
    try{
    Class.forName("org.apache.derby.jdbc.EmbeddedDriver");
    }catch(ClassNotFoundException e){
    System.out.println(e);
    try{
    Connection con = DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:derby://localhost:1527/SimpleDBDemo", "demo", "demo");
    Statement stmt = con.createStatement();
    ResultSet rs = stmt.executeQuery("SELECT * FROM DEMO.Table1");
    while (rs.next()) {
    String s = rs.getString("Name");
    float n = rs.getFloat("Age");
    System.out.println(s " " n);
    }catch(SQLException e){
    System.err.println(e);
    I am using NetBeans IDE and have created a database under: Services->Databases-> Java DB->SimpleDBDemo.
    I have a database connection in which theres a simple table (called "TABLE1") created which contains the names and ages of two people. I am trying to access the data of these two people.
    From what i can figure out i am getting a runtime error. I have downloaded a folder called "Microsoft SQL Driver 2005 JDBC Driver" which contains the "sqljdbc.jar" executable file. I copied the jar file to the library in "Program files->Sun->javadb" and then added the file to the project libraries section i.e. "Project->properties->add JAR/Folder->sqljdbc.jar" in netbeans.
    I am still getting the same runtime error. Have i the sqljdbc.jar file added in the wrong place?
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Microsoft SQL Driver 2005 JDBC Driver is not the Derby driver.
    You need the correct JDBC driver for the database you are using, you can't simply grab the first one you find.

  • Java 3D and NetBeans IDE 6.0.1

    Hi All
    I've installed Java3D after installing NetBeans 6.0.1.
    How would I integrate Java3D with the NetBeans IDE?
    I am trying to compile Java3D program I wrote a couple of years ago but it can't find the Java3D libraries.
    Any help would be appreciated in integrating Java3D with NetBeans. Java3D is installed correctly. I know this as I can execute Java3D executables but I can't build / compile programs in NetBeans.
    Thank you in advance.

    The NetBeans version 6.0.1 you are using is a old one.
    I dont know about that version
    I am using NetBeans 6.5 and I also had installed Java 3D after installing Netbeans IDE.
    I haven't done anything extra to integrate Java3D with NetBeans IDE.
    I don't know the cause of your problem but for sure for NetBeans 6.5 you don't need to do anything extra
    So I suggest may be you can upgrade your version of IDE and try once.

  • JBoss Application server setup with netbeans IDE.

    Hi All,
    I need to configure the JBoss Application server with netbeans IDE. I have tried this scenario,
    1) Unzip the jboss-4.2.2.GA.zip into jboss dir.
    2) Selected the JBoss Application server 4.
    3) And i have set the Installation location like this j:/jboss/jboss-4.2.2.GA. In this i got some problem.
    The problem is: Next button did not selected.
    Error: provide valid installation dir path.
    How to resolve this problem? Can anyone give suggestions for resolving this error?
    Its very urgent!!

    A couple of things:
    1. if you are using SJSAS 9.0 it's Glassfish v1 (not v2 - that's probably for the 9.1 version? I don't know, I'm running 9.0 and installs fine with Gf v1 - thanks for the tip, btw!)
    2. as for the domain, just pick the default offered (unless you have some specific requirement) - in any event, it's under the domains/domain1 folder
    you can always create a new one and register (it will have its very own folder under /domains) but given that's probably a dev box, I can hardly see the point (and when I did it a long time ago, it was more pain that any human being should be subjected to :-)
    Finally, one cannot but wonder why on earth someone (at Sun) developed NB and put Sun Java Application Server (developed at Sun) as one of the options that won't work with SJAS 9.0+ (developed at Sun) but one has to instead choose Glassfish (developed at Sun) and that won't work if one chooses v2 instead of v1 if it's SJAS 9.0 instead of 9.1 (or vice versa)...
    Don't these guys test the thingy with THEIR own stuff?
    Don't get me wrong, I totally love Sun, and all the good stuff they come up with (NB, SJAS, etc. etc.) but done it properly it would help them to gain market share, now, wouldn't it?

    scphan,
    thanks a lot for your reply! It is helpful! (although not "solved" - alas).
    The thing still doesn't work: maybe I missed some magic trick?
    If you bear with me, here is what I did:
    a) downloaded jdk-6u10-docs.zip
    (from "Java SE Development Kit Documentation 6"
    -->
    https://cds.sun.com/is-bin/INTERSHOP.enfinity/WFS/CDS-CDS_Developer-Site/en_US/-/USD/ViewFilteredProducts-SingleVariationTypeFilter)
    -- it was unzipped automatically by my Safari downloader, creating the "docs" directory);
    b) then I pointed the Netnbeans to this dir (it says "Add ZIP/Folder", so to my understanding the "dir" should work, only faster), --
    -- still "Show Javadoc" results in "Cannot perform"... (:-.
    Anything I did terribly wrong?
    Note that I stared at the http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index.jsp for a while before finding the "documentation" link.
    Noticeable also that the page starts with "What Java Do I Need?" but doesn't answer that question.
    Why does Sun make it so freaking hard for the beginners?..
    Does it make sence to ship something without documentation?..
    Why doesn't Apple distribution include it for 1.6 although it does for 1.5 and 1.4?..
    Why do creators of Java not care that Java actually works out of the box, -- including (and that I think makes my question a Java question) in one of the two most popular Java IDEs?
    (The last few sentences are mostly for flounder).
