Hi,
Assuming you want to debug a datasource or extractor, goto tcode RSA3 and put in the datasource/extrator name and run it in debug mode. You can then watch the values.
Execute the same in RSRT and in the execute and debug options - select "Explain SQL" to see the order in which you are executing the query .. also there is an explain SQL available in RSRT that you can use...
also available are default breakpoints which you can use..

Hi Narshimha,
Make any mapping error during mapping and check the syntax of mapping it will drag you to the lsmw report there you can put your break point. You can check the report name from transaction code as well.
Remember this mapping block will execute when you execute the step Convert Data in LSMW.

Enhanced Field is Blank - Debug with RSA3 - Unable to see the code in Exit

Hi all,
I have created a View on a table and created the Generic Extractor on that View and enhanced the Extract Structure to add a Amount field along with Currency Key. I have added the ABAP code to fill that new field. The same code has worked fine in Sandbox and copied the same into Dev. Everything worked fine and it populated the data into that enhanced field in Sandbox, but something is wrong in Dev. I have set the Break-Point after my Generic Extractor in the Exit's Include member ZXRSAU01 and tried to debug in RSA3, but it is not going there. Some how it is not recognizing the code in the User Exit. I am doing the same that I have done in the sandbox. Only initial values (0.00) are there in that field. That field is un-hided.
What could be the problem, please ?

Look at ur Datasource is Trancsaction Data or Materdata Attributes/Text.If it T.Data use Incled ZXRSAU01 or For Master Data attributes use ZXRSAU02 or Text
ZXRSAU03.
And Observe the Exit is Active or not and Debug the code once.

Report Problem need to fix the code

I am new to apex, I was given a task to interpret the code and fix the problem.
This Apex application has a list of value where the user select the institution as a drop down list menu. After selecting the institution the main report below the drop down list will be populated based on the selection. The problem is that when the user insert record for standalone program, this insert don't appear on the report when the user select the instituion.
can someone look at the code below and explain to me line by line what it does and how can I twick it to solve this problem? I am cloue less and I need expert help

ran the code, got results
then set indep_degree to 'Y' on a row in your database
ran the code again and saw the results you are looking for?
If true, your code is working and should operate the same in APEX.
So if your code is working, we need to understand what processes are running on the form and when they are firing.

I am calling a Custom Functional module in Background mode using the syntax CALL FUNCTION ZFM in background task.
Can anyone tell how to debug the code using this..

You could try to use the following trick:
(1) Put an endless loop into the coding of your function module where you want to start debugging, e.g.
DATA:
    lx_exit_loop(1)     TYPE c.
lx_exit_loop = ' '.
DO.
    IF ( lx_exit_loop = 'X' ).
      EXIT.
    ENDIF.
ENDDO.
(2) Call your function module in background task
(3) Call transaction <b>SM50</b> and search for the background process.
(3) Choose from menu <i>Program/Mode -> Program -> Debugging</i>
Now you the debugger should bring you right to your endless loop. Set lx_loop_exit = 'X' in the debugger and continue (F5 or F6).

LOGO on Smartform
1) In Smart Forms Editor, In left pane, right Click any Page (say Page1) and select Create -> Window, Give it a name and Description (Say Window1)
2) Right Click on Window (Window 1) and select Create -> Graphics, Give it a name and description
3) In general Attributes, Select Name, get search help (F4) , you will find a list of pictures
4) Select any picture and set its Resolution in DPI
5) Press F9 to open Smart Forms Builder, Select window (Window1) and In Output options window set, size and position of the Logo
6) Set any other parameters if required, save and activate.
7) If there is only 1 Window in the forms, set it as Main Window in general attributes.
8) Use TCode SE78 to upload new pictures and logos.

In the Smartform, within the Code Node you can hardcode a normal abap Break Point ..
Please set a break point in side the smartform:
BREAK <USERNAME>.
Then at the time of print/ preview the program stops there.
Example : If you set the break point in initializationas
BREAK <USERNAME>.
Program stops at break point. After that use Serach and set more break points.
>Search the program logic/Textelement/Address via search and set the break point at that code.
Other way to debug smartform is to debug the Function Module of that smartforms. Smart forms
They are two ways to debug the SAPScript.
1). Use Tools - Word Processing - Layout Set (SE71). Enter name of layout set and then Utilities - Activate Debugger.
It is of no consequence which layoutset you enter when selecting the SAPscript debugger. (Menu path: Tools-Wordprocessing - Forms, Utilities - Activate Debugger) The next layoutset called will invoke the debugger.
2). Another way to set the SAPScript debugger is to run program RSTXDBUG.
When you debug Print program it is same as you debug any other ABAP program.
While when you debug SAPScript, you actually debug the code ( scripting) you have written SAPScript Form.

Unless you put the decompiled java files into the myprojects folder, you can't use the jdev debugger.
As for debugging on instance, if you enable the debug profile, only the debug statements included in the seeded code will be seen. You can't any debugging of your own.

Flash Builder doesn't rebuild the project everytime I modify the code

Hi,
Flash Builder doesn't rebuild the project everytime I modify the code.
I find myself chasing ghosts when trying to debug my project. Flash Builder 4.0 doesn't rebuild my project after every change I make.
The "Project - Build Automatically" is of course selected. To make sure the problem is real I ran "Project - Build All" several times. Nothing helped.
For example, I am using a boolean constant to select different code in an if block. Even if I change the value of the boolean, When I debug the code, I see that the constant's value doesn't change. Only If I log out login again, FB will rebuild my code.
This happens too many times and it is very confusing to debug, when you don't know if the result now is with or without your changes.
It also affects the following:
- breakpoints that are set or disabled are not taken into account and the debugger will skip them even if they are set or stop on them if they are disabled.
- the debugger stops the debug on empty lines, if those lines previously contained code.
- When I comment out the declaration of variables. Eclipse doesn't recognize them and doesn't show any hint on them when you hold the CTRL key and hover over, but while in debug mode, when you hover over the variable instance, its shows a value for it.

The problem is with the SDK settings selected for the Compiler.
Try going to 'Project' > 'Properties' > 'ActionScript Compiler'.
Now, in the 'Flex SDK section', try changing the SDK. Click on 'Apply'.
This will force FB to rebuild all settings for the project.
You can try again. FB should now have started compiling with latest code changes again.
Please Note: This is not a permanent fix though!
In case the problem re-occurs, you'll need to again perform the steps mentioned above to get FB back on track.

How to debug the IC Web client?

I have requirement to debug the contact serach in the IC. When a user search by entering the first name and last name, It does not pull a single record. Actually there is lots of records are in the system. If I enter a letter with wild card, it pulls the relevant records of first name and last name. I want to debug the code behind the interaction center. Your reply is highly appreciated.

in our project we are using a CIN for certain Algorithms. The annoying thing
there is, that we are not able to debug the code(?). And every SegFault
crashes LabView completely.
Q:
Is there a way to debug the code provided in an lsb?
Is it possible to debug a DLL with VC++? If so, how can I achieve this?
Are there any other debugging techniques not covered above?

I do that regularly, however I create the CIN resource trough the command line. If you create it with the Visual C IDE you will have to make sure you enable the debugging features in the Compile and Link tab of the project settings. This would be mainly:
Compile (C/C++): Optimization: Disable (debug) (/Od)
Linking: Generate debug info (/debug)
In addition you may want to define following makro in your source file:
#ifdef _DEBUG
#define DebugBreaking() {__asm int 3}
#else
#define DebugBreaking()
#endif
and add the DebugBreaking(); call whereever in your source code where you want to break into the debugger. The standard Win32 API DebugBreak() never was able to find my source code to do source code debugging in VC.
Also VC may not be setup automa
tically to catch exceptions and you only get a General Protection fault dialog or a Dr. Watson dialog. There are some registry settings you can make to get VC to be your system debugger and there should be information about how to set that up in your VC documentation or alternatingly on msdn.microsoft.com.

How to skip a selection screen mandatory field in debugging mode with out changing the code?

In my report there is two fields on selection screen, one is obligatory field , but i just want to execute the report(for testing per pus) with out entering the data for the mandatory field with out changing the code. could u let me know which event and how to debug the report. or else in debugging mode how can i change that field as non mandatory field.

If the value is not of importance how come it became obligatory in your program?
Any how you can do one thing...Put some value in your obligatory field, put a debugger point where you are interested in and use the pencil tool to change the value of the field while debugging.

Hi Divya,
It's possible to debug the dynamic measure. Just go to include MPPERS00 and put a break-point inside subrotines DYN_MEASURE and MEASURE. Then, in PA30, trigger the dynamic action and the system automaticaly will enter in debug mode.
I'm assuming that you understand ABAP (in order to realize what SAP is doing behind the scenes) and know how to create a break-point in the ABAP editor.

Debugging a smartform without modifying the code ?

Hi all, please forgive my noobyness but it's the first time I'm working on smartforms...
Basically; I have a smartform that prints out a pdf showing all the entries of a purchase order, but there's a thing that I have to correct... The price amount for position is not correct, because it doesn't contains an extra amount, let's call this quantity "limit", that is a specific property of each row in the order.
Problem: I'm not that good to find in the code the exact point in which the price for a row is calculated, or better.... I thought I found it, did a little correction but without success.
I'd like to debug exactly the pieces of code that are in the smartform, how to do it without modifying the code ? I've read something about hardcoding a break-point but I won't insert new code because I'm working on a pre-production machine and porting a CR is not as easy. Is there any way to debug without doing a mod on the code? Thanks in advance.

it's quite simple.
Found the Fm name of the SMARTFORM (Menu Utilities-> F.M. Name) (Something like
/1BCDWB/SF00000015).
Then go in SE37 transaction and put the FM founded and then display it.
Go in the main info of the FM (tab. Propierties) and the double click on the main program.
Then double click on the include that ends with *F01. There you will find all the code of your SF. Then you can put a breakpoint the piece of code that you want.
This should be works.
