Declaration: what do mean by TABLE OF

Hi,
I have a basic question.
If there is a declaration:
DATA: a1 type TABLE OF table1.
What does it mean.
How it differs from this declaration:
DATA: a1 type table1.
Thanks.
- Deepan

Hi
I suppose <TABLE1> is a dictionary table or staructure, there are several way to define an internal table, one is:
DATA: A1 TYPE TABLE OF <TABLE1>.
This declaration creates a standard table, so it's equal to:
DATA: A1 TYPE STANDARD TABLE OF <TABLE1>.
In both cases it creates an internal (standard) table without header line.
Probably u can use declaration like these:
DATA: BEGIN OF A1 OCCURS 0.
              INCLUDE STRUCTURE <TABLE1>.
DATA: END    OF A1.
or
DATA: A1 TYPE <TABLE1> OCCURS 0.
U can use one of those definitions to create an internal (standard) table structurated like TABLE1.
DATA: A1 TYPE <TABLE1>.
This creates a variable A1 structurated as <TABL1>, so it could be used as header line for a internal table declarated like above.

  • What does mean You can include static and dynamic tables into a Smart Form?

    Hi guys,
If you check the official documentation for Smart forms in the Internet you will read that the initial pharagraphs of the text tell you "Tables - You can include static and dynamic tables into a Smart Form. Dynamic tables enable you to display tables whose size is determined only at the moment of their output by the number of the table items to be displayed". The link is the following: http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/a5/de6838abce021ae10000009b38f842/frameset.htm
I was wondering if this means that I can use field symbols with dynamical number of columns to print a smart form. Because it would be great since the customer wanted a dynamical report depending on the week day it was (If Monday, there was only 12 columns, but if Friday, it will be 52 columns (1 column more for every day elapsed in the current week)). I had to create 5 different forms, but I think using field symbols I had spent less effort. Do you know if it is really possible? If not, then what does mean "You can include static and dynamic tables into a Smart Form"?
    Thank you in advance

    Hi ,
The concept of static and dynamic tables in smartforms, means you can use template- ( static table as no of rows and columns is fixed). Also you can use table- dynamic as the no of rows will depend on your line items.
Hope this will help you to close this thread.
Also, try to find this answer in posted forums. Creating a new forum everytime just increases the network traffic. So please try to avoid it.

  • What does "AMS" mean in table  AMS.AMS_CAMPAIGNS_ALL_B

what does "AMS" mean in table AMS.AMS_CAMPAIGNS_ALL_B

    Hi,
AMS is simply the preffix of the Marketing module in the E-Business Suite. So, all the tables in that module should start by AMS. I think it stands for Analytical Marketing System.

    hi Kiran,
means no aleremote user maintained for bw, you can maintain via rsa1->settings->global settings->glob settings enter bw user ale. normally ALEREMOTE is used.
Creating source system: No entry for BW_USER in table RSADMIN available
    hope this helps.
    oss note 410952
    Symptom
You receive the error message when trying to connect a source system to the Admininistrator Workbench:
"No entry for BW_USER in table RSADMIN exists" (message number RSAR 059).
    Additional key words
    RSAR059, APO, RSADMINA
    Cause and prerequisites
In table RSADMINA, the BW user is not maintained for ALE.
    Solution
Maintain the entry using the following path:
    Call Administrator workbench (transaction RSA1).
From the 'Settings' menu, select Global Settings'.
If an entry already exists in the field "BW user for ALE", delete this.
Enter the correct names for the BW users in this field.
    Save the entry.
You must restart the Administrator Workbench (RSA1) now.
The source system can now be linked without errors.

  • What are nested Internal tables

    Hi Guru's,
I am new to ABAP ...just trying to learn things. Can you please explain me what are nested internal tables and what is the purpose of nested internal table?where can it be used and why a header line is not written in a Nested Internal table...
Kindly explain it (scenario where nested internal tables are used) with an example it will be helpful.
    Cheers,
    Priyanka

    Hi,
When storing data in internal tables, you often use one internal table for each database you read.
Each one contains some or all columns of the relevant database table. It is up to you whether
you create an internal table with a flat structure for each database table or if you create, for
example, internal tables with nested structures. If you have several tables, each one with a flat
structure, you have to work with redundant key fields to link the tables. If, on the other hand, you
use nested internal tables, you can store the data from the database tables hierarchically.
Saving and processing very large amounts of data in internal tables has disadvantages. If you
divide up the data into different internal tables, processing it can be very runtime-intensive, since
the tables have to be processed individually. Furthermore, it requires a lot of storage space,
since internal tables are not stored in compressed form. The system may even need to store the
dataset outside of its working memory. This means that processing it takes even longer.
An example of nested internal table:
Assume the following program is linked to the logical database [Page 1163] F1S.

  • ABAP Certification - What exactly means the "dynamic programming" topic?

    Hi all,
Actually i´m studying for my ABAP exam and i´d like to know what exactly means dynamic programming(of ABAP Advanced topic, take a look at http://www50.sap.com/useducation/certification/curriculum.asp?rid=493&vid=5).
Is it only about creating a new program dynamically? or anything else? I just want to know where will be my focus on it.
    thank you!
    André

Dynamic programming could refer to a number of things, but here I assume that it refers to such things like, creating a dynamic internal table at runtime, and/or using RTTS, or it could mean, simply using fields symbols.

    Thanks

    Ummm, because it is ;)
However, if that isn't enough to convince you, just take a look at the description in the error message.
If that's not enough, then perhaps this demo might help (note database has 8K block size):
    SQL> create tablespace small datafile 'c:\temp\small01.dbf' size 2M extent management local uniform size 1m;
    Tablespace created.
    SQL> create table t1 (id number) tablespace small;
    Table created.

    alter table t1 allocate extent
    ERROR at line 1:
ORA-01653: unable to extend table BOWIE.T1 by 128 in tablespace SMALL
Finally, what temporary tablespace are you referring to, where did the user state the version of Oracle, the type of tablespace they were using or the fact uniform sizes are being used ?
Therefore, your assumption that the "temp" tablespace has fixed extent sizes might not be correct ...

  • I get an error message on Lynx, can someone tell me what this means?

When I check my home page on lynx I get what I would expect 2 links to 2 galleries below that the alt text for my logo and the photograph, and the footer info with an e-mail link.  If I click any link I get a message "Bad Request - Your browser sent a request this server could not understand, the request contained invalid characters following the protocol string."  All the links on the site  www.hayhurst-photography.com  do work.  Should this show the next page (there are 42 others each have a table with 21 links + 3).  Can you tell me what this means?  and which are the invalid characters?
    Thanks Chris

I just tested your pages using Firefox and IE7.  I could click on both Business and Commercial links and venture into the inner pages with no error message showing up at all.  Clicking on any of the thumbnails showed the larger images, again, with no error messages.

Anyone have any idea what this means or how to fix it?
    Best regards, Mike

    Hi,
According to your post, my understanding is that you got the funky error from the PowerPivot Management Dashboard Processing Timer Job.
The error means that there is no such file which exists on that location. If the PowerPivot was removed but the target application remained, it was trying to refresh on schedule and was failing.
In general we can disable the setting to disallow users to use their own credentials by following below steps:
    1. Central Admin->Application Management->Manage Service Applications
    2. Click the PowerPivot service application name. The PowerPivot Management Dashboard appears.
    3. In Actions click Configure service application settings to open the PowerPivot Service Application Settings
    4. In the Data Refresh section clear the “Allow users to enter custom Windows credentials” checkbox.
For more information, you can refer to:
PowerPivot – Error while loading sandbox cube

  • Whats the meaning when variables are enclosed by brackets

    Hi,
Whats the meaning when variables are enclosed by brackets?
    like say
    lv_fieldname(25) TYPE c.
    lv_fieldname  = 'Material01'.
what does it mean by saying
    ASSIGN (lv_fieldname) TO <fs_fieldname>.

In many statement in ABAP, brackets mean that real "name" of operand (object) will be determined during runtime.
    Normally you would write
    data lv_fieldname(25) TYPE c VAUE 'SOME_FIELD'.
    assign lv_fieldname to <fs>.
    write: <fs>.
This code is static . It means that when syntax check takes place, compilator looks for definition of lv_fieldname.
It then assigns value of this field. The resuts is printintg on screen text "SOME_VALUE"
Now you have similar code, but with brackets
    data: lv_fieldname(25) TYPE c VAUE 'SOME_FIELD',
             some_field type i vlaue 5.
    assign (lv_fieldname) to <fs>.
    write: <fs>.
Here code is dynamic . It means that compilator doens't realy know the field name which will be assigned to <fs>.
We told him that this will be determined during runtime ( by means of brackets ) and the real field name we want to assing, is stored in LV_FIELDNAME.
    This is equal to writing
    assign ('SOME_FIELD') to <fs>.
When program starts, it is no LV_FIELDNAME which is assinged to <fs>, but the field which is stored in LV_FIELDNAME, namely 'SOME_FIELD'.
So the printed result will be 5 .
The same rule with dynamic operands applies i.e. in select statement
data: my_table(5) type c value 'SPFLI'.
    select * from (my_table) ...
There is no table in DB named my_table , but compilator "knows" that we don't what to fetch data from MY_TABLE, but we want table name to be determined dynamically (during runtime). So, it is  'SPFLI' table which here will be taken into account.
    One more note!
Such dynamic statements are generic (doesn't constitute fixed code) and open new range of possiblities.
Simple extending above example will create flexible (generic) program which can fetch data from different tables with one statement.
    parameters: pa_tabname(40) type c.
    select * from (pa_tabname) into ....
Of course here you need also dynamic internal table as target area, but this is of no importance here.
Hope this claryfies magic with brackets;)
    Regards
    Marcin
