Decode failures using ora:getAttachmentContent or ora:getAttachmentProperty functoins

Hi,
I have a BPEL process that is started using the ums-email-adapter. The bpel process should abstract each attachment in the email and upload it to an ORacle BPM 12c ACM case.
In the basis I got this working, with pretty simple emails. But in other cases, where the email is more complex the abstraction of the attachment using the ora:getAttachmentContent or ora:getAttachmentProperty function fail with a error like:
<bpelFault><faultType>0</faultType><subLanguageExecutionFault xmlns="http://docs.oasis-open.org/wsbpel/2.0/process/executable"><part name="summary"><summary>An error occurs while processing the XPath expression; the expression is ora:getAttachmentProperty('Content-Type', 'ReceiveMessage_ReceiveNotification_InputVariable','body', '/ns2:message/ns2:attachment[$AttachmentId]').</summary></part><part name="detail"><detail>XPath expression failed to execute.
An error occurs while processing the XPath expression; the expression is ora:getAttachmentProperty('Content-Type', 'ReceiveMessage_ReceiveNotification_InputVariable','body', '/ns2:message/ns2:attachment[$AttachmentId]').
The XPath expression failed to execute; the reason was: java.lang.RuntimeException: Failed to decode properties string ,att.contentId=1,Content-Type=multipart/related;
    boundary "---- _Part_188_790028878.1418047669530",.
Check the detailed root cause described in the exception message text and verify that the XPath query is correct.
</detail></part><part name="code"><code>XPath expression failed to execute</code></part></subLanguageExecutionFault></bpelFault>
This exception is not even catched by the faultHandler, so I can't even simply ignore or handle it.
Has anyone an idea on what causes this and how to work around it? Or simply detect this case before calling the the ora:getAttachmentContent or ora:getAttachmentProperty functions?
Btw: I used the simple 'String' option in configuring the ums-email adapter. Tried with the Opaque option as well, but same issue there.
Thanks in advance.
Regards,
Martien

I found a workaround myself: Darwin-IT: ora:getAttachmentProperty: Failed to decode properties string.

So far I see no indication that it is using the wrong listener.ora, only that some incorrect environment variables are preventing it from completely reporting any problems. Can anyone please help regarding this issue and defunct oracle process?
    Thanks

    Well, You should get one.
    But this error is related to too low opsystem parameters. Check system logs (/var/adm), dmesg and others to see is there any at time of crash with some more detailed information.
    Check You swap space, if some process ocuppied 8GB, then it can happen that You run out of swap.
    and I would suggest to bounce database, kill all defunct processes and start database again.

    Hi reshumakur
    As this is your PRODUCTION system THEN_ The best help to offer in case of ORA-600, and ORA-7445 is to open SR with metalink. Submit with the SR the following
    1- Alert log
    2- Trace files (in ur case e:\oracle\product\10.2.0\admin\orcl\udump\orcl_ora_6012.trc: and e:\oracle\product\10.2.0\em_2\rdbms\trace\orcl_ora_4756.trc:)
    3- Describe what was happening when you had these errors.
    Try to avoid free help when you have ORA-600 and ORA-07445. This errors could be becuase of BUGS. Oracle Support will know this from the call stack in the trace file.
    Then Do your best to patch 10.2.0.4 and the latest CPU patch.
    Good Luck

  • ORA-01180 and ORA-01110 error when restoring database by RMAN in 11.1.0.6.0

    I have a new installed database running in ARCIHVELOG mode on SUSE 10SP3. Catalog is not used. When I try to restore the database from a level 0 backup based on SCN, ORA-01180 and ORA-01110 were raised out today. Please help me through this. Thx. The senario follows:
    1. I got the current SCN by "select dbms_flashback.get_system_change_number from dual". Say it's 12345;
    2. I did a level 0 hot backup with current control file, archived logs and parameter files. Everything went well;
    3. Some other DMLs are applied to the database;
    4. I want to do a SCN-based incomplete recovery for this database to SCN 12345. Then I
    1) shutdown immediate;
    2) startup nomount;
    3) restore the control file from backupset;
    5) startup mount;
    6) catalog start with "[backupset path]";
    7) restore database until scn 12345.
    Just at step 4.7, ORA-01180 and ORA-01110 were raised out, saying cannot create data file 1. Note: Backup files are existing and file permissions are all OK.
    Then I issues "list incarnation of database". There is just one record with incarnation id 1.
    So I queried v$log_history, found serveral record there. The most recent one has NEXT_SCN later than 12345, say 12400. Then I tried to restore database until this SCN. It WORKED! The restore and recovery succeeded.
    My questions are:
    1. Why cannot I restore the database to a previous SCN, say 12345, but 12400 is OK?.
    2. If the database was RESETLOG prior to my recovery, should I reset database to the incarnation where I took my backup? What can I do if there is no that incarnation information in my control file?
    Waiting for your suggestion.

    Hi guys. There is one update.
    This issue is caused by the incorrect SCN vs. backup set. I got this SCN before the backup started. According to Oracle docs, it's not allowed for an SCN based recovery.
    Now, I changed the sequence of my operations, so that SCN is got once backup is done, which is exact the "most recent sequence# and least SCN" mentioned by some thread in this forum. It works now.
    Anyone could explain why the SCN got prior to the level 0 backup is not recognized by restore/recovery phase? Thanks.

  • ORA-03113 and ORA-07445 ACCESS_VIOLATION (again)

    On:
    10g
    Windows 2003 server
    IIS 6
    ASP.NET 2.0
    Oracle client 10.2.0.1.0
    ODAC 10.2.0.2.21
    odp.net 2.102.2.20
    Validate Connection=true;Min Pool Size=0 in connection string
    All odp.net connection, command and parameter objects are closed/disposed after use.
    The issue:
    ORA-03113 is returned to asp.net.
    ORA-07445 ACCESS_VIOLATION is logged on database side. (see below)
    It is ALWAYS the same select query (in stored procedure).
    This is NOT a heavy query. Whole table is only 20K rows. (see below)
    The rest of web application is UNAFFECTED. oracle connection and queries working normally.
    Memory and threads used w3wp.exe are normal
    Our only solution is for DBA to re-allocate table on db server.
    I have read all related posts on this Forum but please any advice is welcome!
    Thanks,

    according to this article:
    <span> [Oracle ORA-07445 exception tips|<a class="smarterwiki-linkify" href="http://www.dba-oracle.com/t_ora_07445_exception_encountered.htm]">http://www.dba-oracle.com/t_ora_07445_exception_encountered.htm]</a>
    </span>
    ther is a lot of reasons for this issue I suggest that you try to do some action to try to understand where is the problem:
    1. Change the connection string to contain only the schema parameter (no pooling parameters).
    2. Change the select to return only 1:
    _SELECT 1 as val_
    FROM IIL_RUN_SETS ILRS
    INNER JOIN IIL_RN_SET_STA_VALS ISSV
    ON ILRS.ILRS_ID = ISSV.ILRS_ID
    AND CURRENT_TIMESTAMP BETWEEN ISSV.TRANS_FROM AND ISSV.TRANS_TO
    INNER JOIN IIL_RN_SET_STATUSES ISST
    ON ISSV.ISST_ID = ISST.ISST_ID
    INNER JOIN IIL_RUNS ILRN
    ON ILRS.ILRS_ID = ILRN.ILRS_ID
    LEFT OUTER JOIN IIL_RUN_LABELS IRLB
    ON ILRN.IRLB_ID = IRLB.IRLB_ID
    INNER JOIN IIL_RUN_STA_VALS IRSV
    ON ILRN.ILRN_ID = IRSV.ILRN_ID
    AND CURRENT_TIMESTAMP BETWEEN IRSV.TRANS_FROM AND IRSV.TRANS_TO
    INNER JOIN IIL_RUN_STATUSES IRST
    ON IRSV.IRST_ID = IRST.IRST_ID
    INNER JOIN IIL_RUN_TYPES IRTY
    ON ILRN.IRTY_ID = IRTY.IRTY_ID
    INNER JOIN PRODUCTS PDCT
    ON ILRN.PDCT_ID = PDCT.PDCT_ID
    INNER JOIN USERS UPDATE_USER
    ON ILRN.UPDATE_USER_ID = UPDATE_USER.USER_ID
    WHERE ILRS.ILRS_ID ; = :B1
    _AND rownum=1_
    ORDER BY ILRN.ILRN_ID
    if this result will not return the value that means that the problem is in the SQL/Procedure
    3. Try to run on diffrent client - it maybe related to some ODP problem one one client.

  • ORA-03113 and ORA-03114 problems

    Hi,
    I'm experimenting Oracle8i. I'm installing 8.1.7 to RedHat Linux 7.0 out of box without recompiling the kernel. I set the SHMMAX to 0.5*258MB memory on the machine by echoing the number to /proc/sys/kernel/shmmax.
    I checked that the system meets the requirements of Oracle's Installation Guide except SEMOPM. The RedHat Linux 7.0 sets it to 32, but Oracle requires 100.
    I chose Oracle8i EE Typical Installation. The installation was ok to the point of running root.sh. Several syntax errors occur from root.sh. But they are minor syntax errors. I checked the code, regardless of errors, the scripts accomplished what it intends to do. The installation continued. I choose automatic configure Net8 when it ran Net8 Configuration Assistant and the Net8 Configuration was completed successful.
    When it started Oracle Database Configuration Assistant, it created a database. But when it initialized the database, error messages ORA-03114 and ORA-03113 appeared many times. Each time, I chose to ignore. The final message was "Database creation completed with warnings."
    After installation, I ran svrmgrl
    $svrmgrl
    SVRMGR> connect INTERNAL
    Connected.
    SVRMGR> startup
    ORA-03113 end-of-file on communication channel
    Checking the meaning of error messages, it says that if ORA-03113 occurs during a connection attempt, check the setup files for the appropriate Net8 driver and confirm Net8 software is correctly installed on the server.
    During installation, I chose Local naming method. There are following files in $ORACLE_HOME/network/admin/
    listener.ora
    sqlnet.ora
    tnsnames.ora
    shrept.lst
    To my layman's eye, they looked ok. I can even telnet to the linux machine with database name, although I don't know how the machine has acquired the alias without any changes to /etc/named.conf nor any changes to any files in /var/named directory.
    Please tell me what is correctly installed Net8? or what went wrong and how I should fix the problem.
    Thanks,
    Wayne

    I seem to have 8.1.7 creating a database with RH Linux 7.1 now. This was an important clue, since 7.1 hiccups 65% into the link phase of installation, thereby requiring the stubs patch to be run at that time, whereas 7.0 runs quite happily through the install & link without using the patch.
    HOWEVER... before invoking dbassist to create the database under 7.1, you apparently need to export ASSUME_LD_LIBRARY = 2.2.5, etc., again, as you would do for the first time installing under RH 7.0.

    This makes no sense.  You don't configure a listener nor a tnsnames.ora "in a database".   I hope this is just a language issue and not reflective of a fundamental misunderstanding of how tns works.

    Regards,
    HossamThe Oracle docs note this on the ora-01405 error*:
    ORA-01405 fetched column value is NULL
    Cause: The INTO clause of a FETCH operation contained a NULL value, and no indicator was used. The column buffer in the program remained unchanged, and the cursor return code was +2. This is an error unless you are running Oracle with DBMS=6, emulating version 6, in which case it is only a warning.
    Action: You may do any of the following:
    * Use the NVL function to convert the retrieved NULL to another value, such as zero or blank. This is the simplest solution.
    * Use an indicator to record the presence of the NULL. You probably should use this option when you want a specific action to be taken when a NULL arises.
    * Revise the cursor definition so that no columns possibly containing NULL values are retrieved.
    ORA-01405 is thrown when you attempt to execute FETCH, which was returned as a NULL value, but there was no indicator in use. If you are using Oracle DBMS=6 (version 6) ORA-01405 is only a warning.
    You might try resolving ORA-01405 by substituting a value with NVL function when a NULL value appears, or simply construct your cursor so that NULL values are not returned (you may also specify that columns with NULL values are not received).
    The error ORA-8180 is reported when the time which is specified, is
    mapped to a SCN which is beyond the bounds of a valid scn. Most likely
    the specified time corresponds with a date which is more than 5 days ago
    (server uptime). You can never flashback more than 5 days ago (server
    uptime), irrespective of UNDO_RETENTION.
    SOLUTION: Specify a more recent date to flashback. E.g.:
    exp scott/tiger file=exp_flash.dmp log=exp_flash.log tables=flash
    flashback_time='"2004-06-12 13:24:26"'

  • What should have in equal tnsnames,ora and listener.ora?

    Hi forum members again I'm very new in oracle, and I'm trying to create a sucessfull net service name, using oracle net configuration assitant, but when I try to test it I got this error, .***"""ORA-12514: TNS:listener does not currently know of service requested in connect descriptor."""*** And I have read that tnsnames.ora and listener.ora should have some parameters in common, but exactly I don't know, Do you know what parameters should be? or The ORA-12514 problem , doesn't have relation with the tnsnames.ora and listener files?, If doesn't wich is the reason of this message?
    By the way I put what contain these files:
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------listener.ora
    # listener.ora Network Configuration File: /opt/oracle/product/10.1.0.3/network/admin/listener.ora
    # Generated by Oracle configuration tools.

    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = tux)(PORT = 1521))

    By the way what must be the username and the pasword that ask the ORACLE CONFIGURATION ASSINTANT to test the net service name? Must be the user name and password of the system user?
    Thanks in advance

    OK, here we go ... extra long as I intend to bookmark this and make reference, as this is a very common question ... skip to the bottom if you want my guess to the solution.
    Oracle Net Services (formerly SQL*Net, Net8, Oracle Networking) has two parts - the client and the server side. I'll discuss the server first, then the client.
    1) Server, and specifically Listener:
    The Oracle Listener is a monitor that listens for Oracle service requests on one or more ports. Usually this is on TCP/IP port 1521. When it gets an Oracle request from any network client, it checks whether it's in the list of Oracle Services for which it is monitoring. If found, it will contact that service, request a connection for the client, tell the service and client where and how to connect, and get itself out of the loop.
    Notes:
    a) It can listen on behalf of any number of services;
    b) A service can be a database instance, an EPG service (the DBMS_EPG is the replacement for Apache in the database in 10gR2), an external job, etc;
    c) One listener can listen on behalf of multiple database instances;
    d) The services can be listed in the LISTENER.ORA or they can self-register;
    e) If databases self-register, they use the initialization parameter LOCAL_LISTENER
    f) If self-registering, the listener should be up before the database
    g) Shutting down the listener will stop future connections, but has no impact on existing ones.
    One frequent point of confusion - a connection request on the local machine may loop out to the network and contact the listener, or it may bypass the listener entirely and use a bequeath adapter. The 'beq' connection is the 'normal' connection by "sqlplus / as sysdba" or "sqlplus system/manager" on the local machine (note that no @instance was used ... in *nix, that is derived from the $ORACLE_SID environment variable)
    In your listener.ora, you specify global_dbname=oracle.gentoo and sid_name=oracle. I assume therefore you can find an initoracle.ora or spfileoracle.ora somewhere on your system.
    2) Client:
    A client that wants to connect to an Oracle service uses the client side of the Oracle Net Services. The definition of client includes: any Oracle client utiltiy (SQLPlus, SQLLoad, Forms, Reports, etc.); an Oracle database instance that wants to make a external procedure call or a dblink; third party tools such as ODBC and JDBC.
    In SQL*Net version 1 the connection was made by specifying the target in the connect string ("user/password@host:listener_port:sid") and that is also used these days by many JDBC drivers, especially the Oracle Thin JDBC driver. Oracle's Easy connection mechanism uses a similar variant.
    Since SQL*Net Version 2, Oracle has supported the concept of alias translation. Basically it's very similar in concept to DNS - give it the name of the service and tell it where to find the translation table. The translation tables include TNSNAMES.ORA, ONAMES servers (deprecated in 10g), LDAP usng Oracle's OiD. The choice of translation table, and alternate order if the lookup fails in one, is stored in the SQLNET.ORA (if one exists).
    Assuming TNSNAMES.ORA, the chain of events is:
    - get the alias to look up (in your case NORACLE);
    - if the SQLNET.ORA has a DEFAULT_DOMAIN setting, (often =WORLD) append a dot and that value to the alias;
    - go to the TNANSMES.ORA file pointed by the TNS_ADMIN variable (environment or registry), or (if not set) the one in the $ORACLE_HOME/network/admin directory;
    - look up the first occurance of the alias;
    - if found, use the protocol specified to request a connection to the host, usin DNS to unravel the host to an IP address if necessary (in your case TCP/IP, to TUX) ;
    - if host connection if made, connect to the listener that is configured for that port (in your case 1521);
    - if listener is there, ask it for connection to the service (in your case, you are asking for instance 'noracle');
    i if the listener knowwss about the service, it will hand off the request.
    Your problem appears to be asking for instance 'noracle' in the tnsnames but listeneing for 'oracle' at the listener. Of course, I can not see any auto-registered instances which you would get from "lsnrctl status" on the server.
