Default export to excel

We are using Discoverer 10.1.2, we want to customize the export funtionality of Discoverer Viewer in such a way that it would export to Excel by default when the user clicks on export instead of givng him various options. Any suggestions? I assume this has to be with App Server config files.
Thanks

This is practically an identical answer I gave on anther thread on this forum right now. Same idea in that you're customizing viewer in a 'non-standard' way.
Russ
You would be performing a customization in that it would be a global change in that everyone will have the same limitation using Viewer.
However, a post on doing nearly this exact thing can be seen at:
http://oraclebi.blogspot.com
which is the blog for a couple of Oracle BI Project Managers.
If you search in the search box for 'UIX' and choose 'search this blog', you'll see some hacks and 'How To Customize The Export Formats List in Viewer' is the one that may interest you.
Now ... if I don't say it ... someone else will (although maybe not so humously), so ...
1. Oracle doesn't support this
2. Oracle will say it voids all sorts of stuff
3. You wife will leave you, the kids will join a punk rock band, the dog will relieve itself in the house, and the car won't start (well at least it will seem that way with all the warnings you'll get for this kind of thing)
4. If you're an adult now, then treat it like an adult would (ie: back up all the UIX files to a directory first, don't touch that backup upon penalty of death, and only restore back from that area if you screw up your UIX hack). If you just treat it like altering an Oracle Apps Form (ie: you don't play with Oracle's original one, you make a copy, work on the copy and link the copy in as the new one right), then you'll be okay
On a sidenote, I could resist mentioning something funny (well I thought it was funny) as I always state all these warnings, and still people miss them. Hopefully the message has now gone so far down in the list that you won't want to see it (and the author isn't on this forum), but recently on the BI forum here, someone was asking where they could get a copy of the UIX files. Makes me think ...
I guess his wife left him, the kids joined a punk rock band ... you get the idea.

  • Crystal Report Viewer | Issue Default Exporting to Excel

    hi,
if any 1 of the column is empty in the report then when exported to the excel the null valued column value is printed by the next column.
For example if i have  columns such as A,B,C and B has null values, then B is replaced by c.
    Is this a bug?
    Thanks and regards,
    Dhinesh B

Editable RTF, because of the static nature of header and footer information, has restrictions on field display mapping Crystal page numbering to Word page numbering.
RTF export does not, since header and footer information is not placed in header and footer, but in the body itself as static text.

  • SSRS 2012 Conditional Formatting Color Issues When Exporting to Excel

    Hi all,
We recently upgraded to SQL 2012 from SQL2008 R2. I'm having a strange issue with SSRS2012.
One of the report has conditional formattings on cell background colors. Everything works fine when render the report in browser or preview mode. However, the conditional formatting stop working when export the report to Excel (no issues if
export to pdf). All cells are high-lightened with pre-defined color although it should only high-lighten those cells that fulfil the condition.
Has someone encountered this issue before ? Thanks for any help.

    Hi ZZ02,
I have test the scenario in my testing environment, however, everything goes well when exporting to Excel format. The issue might be related to the expression for the conditional background color. To make further analysis, please post the expression as well
    as the report design structure.
Additionally, in SQL Server 2012 Reporting Services, the Excel rendering extension renders a report to the native format of Microsoft Excel 2007-2010, the format of which is ExcelOpenXML. By default, the previous version of the Excel rendering extension,
compatible with Microsoft Excel 2003, is disabled. At this time, I suggest that you enable the Excel 2003 rendering extension by modifying the RSReportServer.config file. After that, the Excel 2003 rendering format will be available on report manager (not
available in Report Designer). So, please export the report from report manager and check the result again.
For more information about enable the Excel 2003 rendering extension, please see:

  • How to remove values formatting in export to excel from ALV grid

    Hi all,
I have small issue, I have ALV Grid with some data, but the problem is with columns containing e.g. gross amounts, because it is displayed in the grid as e.g. 1.764,81, and after export to excel it is still in this format (with dot and comma), so excel doesn't treat it as numeric value but as text, and then when I try to calculate total on the column then this values are not taken to the total. Do you know if that is possible to remove column formatting?
    kind regards,
    Marcin

I replied too soon to Peter's suggestions.  For some reason, I was able to add new info. to my first new row, but not the second.  However, I finally figured out the problem.
I found the Help Center page on: "Here are ways to change custom formats and apply changes to table cells:"
To change the elements associated with a custom format that’s been applied to cells, select the cells and click Show Format in the Format pane of the Table inspector.
I saw that the "cell format" was listed as "automatic," so I changed it to "Custom;" then left the new custom window at it's default settings. Now my cells would accept pasted info. without spreading it through the lower rows.  Whatever automatic was in the table, it was not what I wanted. Doing this to other new cells, solved my problem.  Thanks again.

  • Formatting of Excel worksheet While using Export to Excel

    Hello Experts,
I have a requirement to format the workbook according to the user needs while the user clicks "Export to Excel" in the webpage of Web template.
The major problem is with the hierarchy.. when exporting, the hierarchy nodes have triangular symbols.. is there any way to remove them??
What can i do, so that i can make changes to the default export format of the workbook, while exporting it??
Any helpful suggession will be appreciated and rewarded.
    Thanks and Best Regards,
    Vikas Bittera.

    Hi Mark,
Thank you very much for the response.. however this is not the full solution of my problem..
Now, if i execute the same query in the BEx explorer analyzzer, then even this setting does not work... it shows traingles.. wht oue intention is to use Excel grouping function, so that the user will have better navigation in hierarchy..
so is there any way to do this? we need to other formatting of the output.. is it possible that we can change the standard query ouput in excel??

  • Export to excel loses formatting

I have a region whose source is a SQL query.
My SQL query contains function calls that return a value.
    source of the region:
    select nvl(GETSRHR(:P253_STARTDATE,:P253_ENDDATE),0) as "REQUESTS",
    nvl(GETTBHR(:P253_STARTDATE,:P253_ENDDATE),0) as "BENEFITS",
    nvl(GETTOTALHRS(:P253_STARTDATE,:P253_ENDDATE),0) as "TOTALS"
    from dual
Report template chosen is: default vertical report look 1 (include null columns)
when I run the page the report looks as follows:
    REQUESTS 20
    BENEFITS 120
    TOTALS 140
When I export this it looks like:
    REQUESTS     BENEFITS     TOTALS
    20          120          140
Why is the formatting lost when I export to Excel? am I missing a step somewhere?
    thanks for the feedback

The CSV/Excel export always exports your data horizontally. Similar to what you would get if you were running this in SQL Plus. The vertical look report template only applies to the report when shown in your web page. The template selection has now affect on the structure of the CSV export. If you need to export your data in a different way, one way to implement this would be to write a PL/SQL region or process that stores the data in that format first, e.g. in another table or using HTML DB collections and then write a report that is based on that temporary storage.

  • Crystal Reports for Eclipse ver. 2 fails on export to excel

I have downloaded crystal reports for eclipse version 2 (full eclipse setup) and created the sample project.
The new version of JRC looks awesome on the browser. Finally the visual appeal is as good as the .NET version.
However I am having a problem with the export to excel feature. When I select export to excel, I get the following exception

I have not made any changes to the sample crystal reports project so I am not really sure what i am missing.
I have Microsoft Vista Ultimate with Crystal Reports 2008 trial version installed.
I have configured eclipse with Tomcat 6.0 and JDK/JRE 1.6
    Any help would be appreciated.

I searched on scn and got the listing you mentioned.
The jsp code I am using is as follows.
    <%@ page contentType="text/html; charset=UTF-8" pageEncoding="ISO-8859-1" %><%@ taglib uri="/crystal-tags-reportviewer.tld" prefix="crviewer" %><crviewer:viewer reportSourceType="reportingComponent" viewerName="CrystalReport1-viewer" reportSourceVar="CrystalReport1" isOwnPage="true"><crviewer:report reportName="CrystalReport1.rpt" /></crviewer:viewer>
And I get the following exception on selecting any export.
WebReportingException: getOutputStream() has already been called...
So I think maybe this problem is not the same as listed under SAP Note 1199025.
Also the strange thing is I just download the full ganymede version with crystal report for eclipse version 2, and created a default crystal reports website.
The samples were provided automatically, and I have not written any code myself.
    Any help would be appreciated.

  • Export to Excel Error in SQL Server 2014 Report Builder/Viewer

    Hi,
I am using the 2014 version of ReportViewer in a WinForm to display an RDL report.
The report was originally created in Report Builder 2.0 (SQL 2008 R2), but has since been edited in Report Builder 3.0 (SQL 2014).
The report loads and displays OK, and even exports to Word and PDF. But when exporting to Excel and then opening the Excel document, the following error occurs:
"We found a problem with some content in <filename>. Do you want us to try and recover as much as we can? If you trust the source of this workbook, click Yes."
If you click Yes, then a second message appears:
    "Removed Part: /xl/styles.xml part.  (Styles)
Repaired Records: Cell information from /xl/worksheets/sheet1.xml part"
The Excel document then opens, and the data is there, but there is no formatting (no border columns, colours, bolds etc.)
    The three interesting things are:
    - When exported from SQL 2008 R2 Report Builder 3.0, which exports to .xsl instead of .xslx, it works
    - A brand new report created in 2014 Report Builder 3.0 exports to .xslx great
    - In Report Builder 2014, I stripped everything back and removed all rows and columns so the original table in the report only has one empty row and column it the export still errors - it is only by removing the original table and creating a brand new table
    that export works OK
It appears to be a problem with the tablix, but ideally we don't want to have to recreate our reports from scratch to fix this issue.
Has anyone come across an issue like this before, and know of any potential resolutions to it?
    Thank you.

    Hello,
Based on your description, you render a report originally created in Report Builder 2.0 (SQL 2008 R2) and export the report to excel with format of Excel 2007-2010.
Edit the report in Report Builder will not upgrader the report. In that case the report still with SSRS 2008 R2 RDL schema. Please try to upgrade the report by open the report in Report Designer in SQL Server Data Tools (SSDT) and then try again.
If you don’t want to upgrade the report, please try to export the report
with Excel 2003 rendering extension and check if the issue persists.
The SQL Server 2014 and SQL Server 2012 Reporting Services Excel rendering extension renders a report to the native format of Microsoft Excel 2007-2010 with .xlsx as file extension. Only the Excel rendering extension is available by default.
You must update the Reporting Services configuration files to make the Excel 2003 rendering extension available.
For example, changing the value of Visible to
true in the following line in the RSReportServer.config:
    <Extension Name="EXCEL" Type="Microsoft.ReportingServices.Rendering.ExcelRenderer.ExcelRenderer,Microsoft.ReportingServices.ExcelRendering"
    Visible="true"/>

  • I am not seeing export to Excel option in SharePoint 2013 survey (even in the overview view mode)

    Hi
If anyone could point me in the right direction as to what steps to take to enable the export to excel option in a sharePoint survey list.
all other surveys are showing up that export to excel option.
I am not seeing the view dropdown as well which shows up on right (the only way to create new view is through the URL as of now)
    Constraints
Survey already has several responses now so making a new survey is not an option
(I know that when is any custom view is changed to default view and if Overview is made as the default view again this option goes away, but how to get this export to excel option back?)
    Steps taken till now
Checked in SP designer as to which field is set to default and it shows overview as the default.
Checked whether any web part was closed and it seems there was none else closed web part category would've shown up
Saved the existing survey as template both with the content included and without the content (without the content template has the export to excel option showing up)
    Many thanks ,

    Aby,
    Do following, it will work
Create a simple list and hit export to excel to create owssvr.iqy file
    Open that file in notepad
Collect Survey list' GUID and View GUID from SPD. You need to change the pointer to test list to survey
Change list GUID and view Guid
    File will contain these code

  • Sql server reporting services + export to excel + embedded images

    Hi all,
i got a problem when exporting to excel in ssrs 2008.
i use embedded image in the report. but when i export the report to excel, image is being exported but its width is being changed to size 0 .
but when i click on it and expand it explicitly in excel it is being expanded .
how to make the image by default to its actual width?
how to fix this problem ?

    Hi sudeep Puvvadi,
Based on the information posted, I have a test with SQL Server Reporting Services 2008 (SSRS2008) and Microsoft
Excel 2010 by the following steps:
From the Toolbox window, drag the image to the top edge of the design surface.
In the image Properties dialog box, select Embedded from the Select The Image Source drop-down list.
Click import, and select a BMP file from my local computer.
Right-click the image, select Image Properties. In Size category, select Original size.
    Export the report to excel.
When opening the excel file, the image displays with original size rightly. So I suggest you to add an image with
the same steps above, then checking whether the image shows correctly. If it still cannot work fine for you, could you please give me a feedback and tell me related settings, so that I can reproduce the scenario exactly and provide further assistance?
    Thanks,

  • Exporting to excel sheet

    Hi,
I have problem exporting data to excel sheet In the java servlet.
I am getting a date field as 03/15/2004 in servlet but after exporting to excel sheet it displayed as 3/15/2004 in excel.
Is there a way I can show the way its comming in java servlet.
    Thanks,
    Zakir Hussain

Excel will format stuff in its own way - depending upon the settings for date/time format on your computer.
ie It will read the string from the servlet "03/15/2004" but then format the date according to its default rules.
This may end up being "15 March 2004"
Solution: change the default date format on your computer.
In other words, you can't easily tell excel what to do from Java.

  • Exporting to Excel - How to control Column Heading?

I'm working in SSRS 2012.  I have one tablix in the report body.  The tablix has both Row and Column Groups.
When rendering in the web browser the report page breaks on a row group.  The Repeat Column Headers property is set to "True" so it shows the column headings from page to page.
When rendering in Excel, I want one worksheet and not separate worksheets so the page break is disabled via the Page Break->Disabled property expression "=IIf(Globals!RenderFormat.Name="EXCELOPENXML", True, False)".
This is all good but the Column Headings only show up once at the very top in the excel worksheet.
Is it possible to make the Column Headings repeat with each tablix data region as it is rendered vertically down the worksheet?
OR is there a way from SSRS to set the Excel property "Rows to Repeat at top" to include Column Heading; by default the SSRS Report's header is repeated in Excel, but can the number of rows be changed to include the Column Heading?
OR is there some other work around?
    Thanks for your help.

    Thanks for the reply Wendy.
You addressed my second question ... "is there a way from SSRS to set the Excel property "Rows to Repeat at top" to include Column Heading; by default the SSRS Report's header is repeated in Excel, but can it be changed to include the Column Heading?
Based on your response, the only way to freeze the column header in excel is to freeze or split panes AFTER export to excel.  well booo but I have to accept that I guess.
My first question is what I really want to do, which is to physically repeat the Column Heading in the excel rendering. I included two pictures demonstrate what I want ...

  • Exporting to excel properties

    Post Author: skootsu
    CA Forum: Crystal Reports
Is there any way to export information that is in the Report Summary (like Name of report, Manager, etc) to the properties of the excel spreadsheet that is created from exporting?  Example, I have lots of CRs that generate excel spreadsheets.  Some of the excel files are generated from multiple CRs using multiple datasources.  In the CR report summary I key in the Report Name, the Manager, Specifics about the report like 'CR1 of 2\Outfile:Inv1\CR2:Inv2'.  This helps when users ask to have a report re-run/updated.  In the excel file Properties I would like to get this infor carried over with the data.  So we can look at these properties on the excel file and tell where it came from.  Right now all of our excel files just read the name of the excel file, Author:'Crystal Decisions', and Comments:'Powered by Crystal'.  Any tips?  I would like this info to go in the properties so they are out of the way of the actual data on the report.  Thanks
    I am using CR XI

Are you setting the size in the report? Are you using styles?

can you please help me for this requirement.

  • Export to Excel in Web Analyzer: Change description

In Web Analyzer we have a button Export to Excel. When we click that button the report gets downloaded in to excel. By default the excel sheet will be saved as example 0Analysis_Pattern-87.
Is there any way, by default when i click on export to excel button, excel should save either by query description or by query technical name.
Where do i make such a setting.

    Hi,
Only one name can be kept while expoting to excel.
You may try bradcast option from your portal, There if you will choose format as excel and send then it will take the technical name of the report as file name.
    I hope it will help.
    Thanks,
