Default Index page using NetBeans

Hi,
Need to execute a index servlet when i enter this URL.
http://localhost:8084/mywebapproot/admin
as the IDE i am using NB5.5. I added a folder named admin by using this path.
mywebapproot >> right click >>new Folder but it doesn't create a Folder in the Projects pane. but I can locate the folder in the Original Path of my Web App.
How to do this

The webmail service icon isn't shown if the wiki is turned on - regardless of whether webmail is enabled. The rationale is that there is a link to webmail in the mypage header.

I am using the main index.html for testing purposes.
I have wikis, blog, calendar, and mail all enabled in sites/webservices, as well as configure server side mail rules.
When I go to the default web site (changed to https/ssl) I only show My Page, Wikis, Blogs, and Mail Rules as the services that are "on". https://mysite.domain.com/webmail still works.
How do I get the mail service to register?

Firefox default start page uses facemoods search engine instead of google

Hi, I have issue with Firefox. Today I’ve notice that when I’m using search option on default Firefox 4.0 start page (about:home), results are displayed with Facemoods search engine instead of Google. I have uninstalled Facemoods from system and Firefox, yet it didn't work.

I haven't heard of this one before. The uninstall must have left behind a few settings.
The page corresponding to "about:home" must be set in a hidden preference. You can search for and reset it using the about:config feature.
(1) Type or page '''about:config''' in the address bar and press Enter (click the button promising to be careful, and please be careful)
(2) In the filter box, type or paste '''facemoods''' and pause while Firefox searches
(3) The bolded lines show changes from the original Firefox setup. Some you might want to save, but mostly you would want to reset them to default. Right-click each one you want to change and choose Reset.

I'm sorta new to web design. I was taught that the home page for a website is always called "index.htm". Can you name it some thing else? How do you designate it as the "start here" page...

Yes.
With Linux its done with .htaccess files:

With Windows it is done via the GUI interface of IIS. I'm not 100% certain of the clicks here because I have only sparingly used IIS in my experience, but if you have IIS I am sure someone here will be able to help you.

How do I customize the index page?

I can't seem to find out how to edit the default index page (ie content, banner, etc.) without it losing the theme or the css file, which i guess is somehow linked to it? The page points to "collaboration/css/serverhome_static.css" which doesn't seem to exist?
Can you guys help me out?
Maybe point me to the right files? or just flat out tell me what to do would be nice :P

Hi,
The web pages produced for the groups are dynamic and under the control of WebServer. You can see the requests and responses in Console -> LOG FILES -> /Library/Logs -> WebServer which accesses the folder /usr/share/.
If you want to change something like the banner on the groups listing page you can:
Change banner.jpg in usr/share/collaboration/css/serverhome/img to the banner image of your choice (ensuring the size (length x height) is appropriate). Be sure to set Permissions on any files added to
Owner: root -rw, Group: wheel -r, Others: -r.
Be aware that /usr/share may be changed during a Apple software update. For user specific changes immune to updates the place to modify is at /Library/Application Support/Apple/WikiServer. That said I made changes to my banner display in /usr/share as described above in 10.5.0 that haven't been disturbed by 10.5.1 - 10.5.5.

How do I auto fit my index page

My index page uses frames (Top, left, right). Is there a way to make it automatically fit all sizes of computer screens? My banner length is 1050 pixels which is too long or too short depending on the computer screen size.

But you could query the window open size and dynamically generate the page based on the results of that query!

Setting up NetBeans WebApp without default JSP Page

I'm trying to create some basic servlet apps which can be accessed by stand alone java classes. I'm using netBeans to create a default Web Application and now i'm trying to remove the JSP (index.jsp) page which is created by default. Is there any simple why of doing this? I've trying removing it but errors are thrown by other project files.

By default the size of out (implicit object of JSPWriter) object is 8kb. Since OA.jsp and RF.jsp are JSPs my assumption is that they inherit a standard JSPWriter when creating the out object and therefore use the default page buffer size of 8kb. One of the jsp performance tips is to modify the page buffer size to better match the standard amount of output. The use of page buffer is mentioned in the Oracle JSP best practices document. It is pretty common to see this set in the standard 11i JSPs. A number of the jtf JSPs use a value of 24kb for the page size, while other apps module JSPs use various sizes from 12kb up to 200kb. I have also seen some analysis that showed that setting the page buffer size to correspond better to the amount of output being generated improves the garbage collection and heap management in hotspot. My goal is better performance, and I believe that setting the page buffer size to a value that is closer to my average page size would improve overall performance.

The object COM_PRDCAT_WEB_API which you mentioned is the package, i think its available only in 701 release.
Goto SMW0 , press F8, you can see the SAP web repository objects.

APEX app using Oracle Text to index pages that require authorzation

Hi Gurus and APEX Dev team
My team need to develop an APEX App that will index all our documents spread across various servers. Some of the documents require Single sign on access (e.g. KIX.oraclecorp.com) and some require other authorization methods (e.g. Metalink) . The Question is , Is it possible to index the pages that require authorization using Oracle text. If yes How? I have implemented the demo app which can index pages that do not require authorization.

Unless I misunderstand you, the fact that the pages require authentication doesn't really matter, it is the underlying data you want to index correct? If so then you would index them in exactly the same way that you would index any table data using Oracle Text/interMedia.

Very doubtful that the developers are going to ever reverse that decision, especially since they posted a workaround in that article and made it so that using a whitelist was possible via that extension.

Can you set a "default" web page in a KM folder?

Hi there,
I've been playing around with using Adobe Contribute to edit web pages in a CM Repository. It was easy to create a CM repository, put some web pages and supporting CSS, images etc. in there, and create a KM navigation iView that displays the default page. Setting up Adobe Contribute to edit those pages via a WebDAV protocol was simple too, and to be honest I find the Contribute interface and functionality easier to use (particularly from the average end user's point of view) and implement than the Portal's built-in HTML editor, or the Web Page Composer.
But then I ran into a snag. In order to be able to "administer" the site with Contribute (or Dreamweaver), it creates an _mm folder and puts a "guard" page in it. The guard page is a file which would be returned to the browser when it tries to access a folder. In a normal website that would be a "default" page (e..g index.htm, default.htm etc.), but in the Portal there doesn't seem to be a way to have one. I believe that's why if you try to access a folder through a browser you get:
"The folder you are looking for has no displayable content.
You can try one of the following:
Access the folder using the Navigation user interface.
Access the folder as a Web folder. Your operating system and browser dictate whether or not this will work."
That's what happens if I use something like http://<host name>:<port number>/irj/go/km/docs/<repository prefix>/<folder name>/ as a URL, though http://<host name>:<port number>/irj/go/km/docs/<repository prefix>/<folder name>/default.htm works just fine (as you would expect). And I can retrieve a fake "guard" page using http://<host name>:<port number>/irj/go/km/docs/<repository prefix>/<folder name>/_mm/default.htm
An Adobe technote confirms this as problem - [Guard Page not found|http://go.adobe.com/kb/ts_f3675780_en-us]. Does any one know if a default page can be set in a CM repository.

I don't think you can.
What is possible is to set content on the folder resource itself; that would be returned instead of the page you mentioned.
