Default RSS reader

is there a way to make Feedly.com my default RSS reader? I tried using shrook, but it wasn't a good replacement since it doesn't save the list of RSS feeds i feed it.

Hi
When you open (expand) an RSS feed in either Safari or Mail, either Safari will go to the actual page (if set as the default), or a specific RSS Reader will open.

  • Assign new default RSS reader in Mountain Lion

How do I change the default RSS reader under Mountain Lion and Safari 6?
Removing the configuration preference from Safari 6 was a BAD IDEA!
Anyway, any help will be deeply appreciated.  Thanks.

Use whatever RSS reader you prefer from the very many that currently exist. Find them at MacUpdate or CNET Downloads . You can also find them on the Mac App Store. A good one is NetNewsWire 3.3.2. It's also free.

  • Default RSS reader option

What does the preference in both Safari > Prefs > RSS > Default RSS reader and Mail > Prefs > RSS > Default RSS reader do?
Until now I've been doing all my RSS in Safari, which is OK but not stellar.
Now that Mail supports RSS in 10.5, I'm experimenting with it there. But as far as I can tell, RSS feeds that are subscribed to in either app seem to get updated in either app. So what does the "default RSS feed" do?

  • How to set default RSS reader...

    Hi,
how do I set an alternative default rss reader in ML ? I've NetNewsWire installed but when I select a feed:// bookmark in Safari it still goes to the default mailer (Thunderbird) in my case. How can I make NetNewsWire the detault reader?
    Cheers, Fons.

I found and used http://www.rubicode.com/Software/Bundles.html#RCDefaultApp to set NetNewsWire as the default RSS reader. All fine now.

  • Set Default RSS Reader in Mountain Lion???

So now that Mail & Safari dont have default RSS readers support, how does one change what was previously set?  Somehow the program "Socialite" has been set as my default RSS Feed reader.  I do NOT want to use this program for RSS feeds but cannot seem to find a way to change the default association.

  • Set a default RSS reader when clicking RSS button in Safari?

When I'm in Safari and I click on the RSS button in a web page, it loads up my podcast app (Downcast) which does me no good.  I use Mr. Reader for my RSS reader (it's a Google Reader client) -- how do I get Safari to load that up instead?  And then presumably it would then create a new subscription feed in Mr. Reader for that RSS feed that I clicked on in Safari.

I use Reeder. I thought I had this same problem with the last version of Safari but somehow I was able to turn it off (I want to see it first and choose to add it myself to my RSS reader).
But since Mountain Lion, I haven't been able to turn it off.

  • Is the default "Subscribe to This Page" feature within Firefox a RSS Reader?

    Hi Everyone,
Does anyone know whether the default "Subscribe to This Page" feature within Firefox is a RSS Reader?
For example, I want to subscribe to certain blogs etc., and my research suggested I install Feedly ([https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/feedly/]), which I now have. However, I noticed whilst playing around that within Firefox, the feature to subscribe to a page offers this too - but is the Firefox feature the same as a RSS Reader?
    Thanks in advance
    Y2J

Really, most RSS readers are the same.
In the past I have used the Firefox RSS reader to setup live bookmarks.<br>
Currently I use the [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/rss-icon-in-awesombar/?src=userprofile RSS Icon In Awesombar] add-on. It functions the same as the default Firefox feature, but to save space I want the button in the location bar.
You can use whatever one you want. As said above, it really doesn't matter.

  • LArge, simple RSS reader app or screensaver.

Hello there, I have a mac mini running 10.4 that powers a 42" plasma that was donated to our school.
I have an info/news feed that is picked up by the RSS screensaver for display to the students.
This isn't bad but the text is a bit small and only shows one story at a time.
I'm after a RSS reader that is very plain and uncluttered but also colourful and eye catching that will cycle through topics in an RSS feed maybe 2 or more at a time. It would be great to have the time and a picture on screen too...
I currently use the RSS screen saver that comes with 10.4 but the text is a bit too small..
I wonder if there is anything else out there that might work well for a standalone info screen (ie no mouse clicking etc involved).
    cheers
    S

OK installed it on my work machine but t be honest it's a bit complicated...
I just want an RSS feed ike the default one but with bigger text, less 'whizzing around' of the stories and maybe a picture background...
Is there no ready made solution out there as I don't want to spend time learning how to use a programming system (albeit a simple one) to just get one piece of software...

  • Safari 5.1.2: Where is the built-in RSS Reader theme stored?

    Hi all,
Safari's built-in RSS reader menus are displayed in wrong language on my system - does anybody know in which library Apple's blue RSS reader theme and/or it's ressources are stored, so I could check for missing language files? All hints I could find on the web are describing pre-5.1 versions of Safari, and after investigating my current libraries I'm sure the ressources changed, e.g. the SyndicationUI.framework under /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks.
Does anybody have any hints for me?

OK, here's what I'm talking about. This is a screen capture of a tab from the Macintosh version of Safari:
Notice how the "X" to close the tab is on the left-hand side and the text of the tab is centered on the width of the tab.
Here is a screenshot of the Windows version of Safari:
You can see how the tab is much smaller for one, but also how the text is justified to the left with the "X" to close the tab appearing on the right side of the tab instead of the left.
I don't really prefer one over the other (ie. left or right side), I just wondered if there's some setting to make them act the same way on both so that I don't have to constantly remember what OS I'm on in order to remember where the darn "X" is to close the tab.

  • How do I change my default file reader from Preview to Adobe in Firefox 3.6.28

I have always used Preview as my default download reader, however now some documents such as utility bills can only be opened using Adobe 9 reader. My question is this, how do I change my default reader to Adobe 9 in Firefox 3.6.28, Mac OSX 10.4

Unrelated to your issue, it looks like you're using a very old version of Firefox. You should upgrade to the latest version, Firefox 11 -- just go to the Help menu and click Check for Updates. This link walks you through the process: [[Updating Firefox]]

  • How can I change the default pdf reader from the installed (but not yet registered) Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro to Adobe Reader XI?

How can I change the default pdf reader from the installed (but not yet registered) Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro to Adobe Reader XI? I'm having some hiccups getting Adobe to register the software, but since I set it as the default .pdf reader during setup, things try (and fail) to open in the as yet unregistered software. How can I change it temporariiy to the Acrobat Reader XI that I have installed?

    Anubha,
It worked! Thank you so much.
I'd opened file with the 'Open with' feature then clicking Adobe Reader,
but that didn't do it. When I used 'Open with', then 'Choose default
program...', it worked like a charm.
    Again, thank you!

  • Why was deleted the RSS reader in Mail on OS X Mountain Lion?

Why was deleted the RSS reader in Mail on OS X Mountain Lion?
How can I re-enable the RSS reader?

All RSS Readers that I tested from MacAppStore are much worst than Mail's in Lion.
Hate them all. I'm using blogtrottr.com to compile all RSS and send me via email. But it's flooding my mailbox. There're a bunch of them that require a Google Reader account, and I won't do that. It doesn't matter to Google which RSS I'm following.
I wish Apple put RSS reading back to Mail. Stupid idea taking it off.

  • How do I change the default PDF reader from Acrobat Pro to Preview?

Right now Acrobat Pro is set as the default PDF reader in my Safari 3. It's slow and wonky, which I think might be a 10.5 issue. Anyway I'd like to make Preview my default PDF reader for Safari but I can't find where to make this change.

    Hi Harry
You may also have to remove the Adobe PDF plug-in(s) from your Internet Plug-ins folder. If so, create a new folder in the Library where the Internet Plug-ins folder is located, calling it Internet Plug-ins - disabled. Move the file(s) to there. This way, if you need to use Adobe again, it's as simple as moving the file back, then reselecting the option in the Adobe app.
After so, restart Safari and try a PDF.

  • E71 font size in RSS reader

    Dear E71 Gurus,
has anybody been able to change the font size in the RSS reader?
It seems to always use the same (large) font when reading RSS feeds irrespective of the font size set for browsing (for example small or smaller).
    Am I missing something?
    Thanks,
    Dane
