Default where clause for different users

Hi!
Is it possible to implement a different where clause to the filter for when different users log into the application?
Let's say I have a table DEPARTMENTS and users Mark and John.
I would like the following:
When Mark logs in and opens the report, it will have the following data:
select * from DEPARTMENTS where REGION='EUROPE';
Where John logs in and opens the report, he will see:
select * from DEPARTMENTS where REGION='NORTH AMERICA';
Thanks!

Hi,
if you go to the Security tab in Edit Application Properties you will find a section called Database Session. This is where you can set a session context that can be used by a database feature called Virtual Private Database (VPD) or Fine Grained Access Control (FGAC). This is a feature where the database can be set up to automatically modify any query in order to add extra query filters that have a context, usually related to the logged on user, thus allowing only access to relevant data. I would suggest the you read up on this feature as it is the recommended method of applying security in a row wise fashion.

  • How to set different default interactive reports for different user groups?

    I'm probably overlooking an obvious solution, but how do I set different default interactive report for different user groups?
    For the same interactive report, I want one set of users to see a default where the default filter is based on column X. However, another group of users doesn't have authorization to see that column so I need to set the default filter to something else for them.
    Thanks

    You can set a filter on a report in a URL - would that help? I think with apex 4.x you can also link to a saved default report or alternative report...

  • Does the 'default where clause' query select the ROWID by default ?

    Hi ,
    The query in default where property of a data block is as follows:
    global.prim_lang = :global.user_lang
    and upper(group_name) like upper('%' || :B_apply_inclusions.TI_group_desc || '%')
    UNION ALL
    select g.rowid, g.group_no
    from table1 t,
    table 2 g
    where :global.prim_lang != :global.user_lang
    and upper(g.group_name) = t.key(+)
    and :global.user_lang = t.lang(+)
    and upper(nvl(t.translated_value, g.group_name)) like upper('%' || :B_apply_inclusions.TI_group_desc || '%')
    The g.rowid was added in the UNIONALL portion of the query because the first part of the query was bringing rowid as well.
    We are in 10.1.2.3.0 forms version.
    However for a user in forms verion 10.1.2.0.2, the query is giving an error " Unable to perform query " - due to mismatch in the number of columns selected in the query union.
    because for this user, rowid is not selected as part of default where clause query( 1st part of the query before the unionalll).
    If g.rowid is removed from the 2nd part of the query , it errors out in 10.1.2.3.0 forms version.
    Could you kindly clarify when this rowid will also be selected by the default where clause of a block and why this issue is occuring?Is this issue related to forms version or any other property of the block? Is it is version based, is there a patch available to deal with the same?
    Thanks in Advance.

    You normally change the default_where block property just when you want to chnage the filter conditions for what is selected from a given block data source.
    Querries with union or minus will confuse forms as to the rowid and will no longer be albe to perform the default insert/update/delete, not knowing the rowid and the table to perform the dml on.
    A from clause query will be the best way to change dynamically the tables you select from and also the where. But, by using that, if you wish to insert/update/delete, you will have to use on-insert/update/delete triggers where the processing will have to rely on some primary key columns and not on rowid.
    Or, instead of a from-clause, you may use a view, but that will definitely be less flexible than a from clause query.

  • ADF dynamic where clause for VO query using BC

    I'm hoping someone can help me out. I have a read only view object that I want to filter results based on some user choices. For example the user may want to see all results or they may only want to see a much smaller subset. This is for an error dashboard, the smaller subset maybe by application or maybe by application and by error severity. I think I can use a dynamic where clause but I'm not sure, Can someone get me started down the right path, or post an example that I can see.

    Hi user,
    You can use a dynamic where clause for this, but maybe there is a more practical option. Maybe you can have a fixed where clause, but using a bind parameter, like:
    vo.application like :applicationParam. This makes an executeWithParams method available that you can call from your page, and use in the bindings. This parameter you can populate with the results of for example a poplist, with a default value of '%'.
    When you do want to use a dynamic where clause, you will need to add a method to the java code of your application module, and make this method available for the client. In this method, you can use findViewObject to retrieve your VO, use VO.setWhereClause to set the whereclause to what you want, and then call VO.executeQuery. This method can then again be called from the page.

  • VBA inserting form fields, different positions result for different users.

    I'm certianly at a loss for wrapping my head around this.
    Adobe Acrobat 9 Standard (v 9.5.4)
    Excel 2010  (VBA)
    The problem:  When I create the PDF document from Excel, I search for a string of text in order to capture the Quads for the containing rectangle.  Then I use the quads to insert a control with numeric offsets.  The problem that I am facing is that the offsets seem to be causing the controls to be in different locations for different users.  For example, when I send (-26, -2, 100, 10) {x-offset, y-offset, width, height}; the control aligns exactly where I want it.  But when another user user runs the exact same routine, or opens the PDF that I created, the fields are no longer positioned correctly.
    Is there some setting that I am missing? EDIT, SOLVED:  My Acrobat had a custom point to pixel setting.  (Preferences > Page Display > Resolution)

    Thanks for the reply, I did spend some time working on this issue...  here is what I found...
    1)  First of all, I did have a custom Points to Inches setting in my Acrobat options...  110 vs 96.   Resetting this allowed for me to see the alignment issue that my colleagues were referencing first hand.
    As it turned out, my results were better, but still had inconsistency among different workstations.  Leading me to..
    2)  The MSFT creator uses the default printer in some way to create the PDF.  Because the different workstations were using different printers, we were getting different results.  If everyone used an HP 1320, nobody would see any difference upon creating / adding fields.
    The final solution was to change the Application.Printer to a common network printer before the export operation, and return the Application.Printer to the user default after the export completed.  This has provided us with a common ground to work upon; we are lucky to have a network printer that can be used for this purpose, as I can see this becoming non-viable in environments where this would be unavailable.

  • Dynamic where clause for generated reports (designer 6.0)

    Hi,
    I'd like to include dynamic where clause into my reports. It's easy with report builder by using bind parameter in a query where clause (&param where param is a parameter in which you fill a VARACHAR2 to complete default where clause).
    Problem with designer 6.0 report generator is that he failed while trying to parse the query statement he contructs if there is a bind parameter within.
    How can I manage this problem ?
    Thanks for answers

    Hi Divya,
         SET_REPORT_OBJECT_PROPERTY(repid,REPORT_OTHER,'paramform=no P_WHERE_CLAUSE= '||Where_Clause);Instead of using SET_REPORT_OBJECT_PROPERTY built in try using ADD_PARAMETER built in which
    adds parameters to a parameter list. Each parameter consists of a key, its type, and an associated value.
    v_rep := RUN_REPORT_OBJECT(repid); and instead of using RUN_REPORT_OBJECT try using RUN_PRODUCT.
    DECLARE
         repid REPORT_OBJECT;
         v_rep  VARCHAR2(100);
         Where_Clause Varchar2(4000) := null ;
            *Pl_Id        ParamList;*
            *Pl_Name      VARCHAR2(10) := 'param_list';*
    BEGIN
         Where_Clause := 'Where '||Create_Where_Clause();
         message(Where_Clause);
         message(' ');
            pl_id := Get_Parameter_List(pl_name);
            IF not Id_Null(pl_id) THEN
               Destroy_Parameter_List(pl_id);
            END IF;
            pl_id := Create_Parameter_List(pl_name);
            Add_Parameter(pl_id,'P_WHERE_CLAUSE', TEXT_PARAMETER, WHERE_CLAUSE);
            Add_Parameter(pl_id,'PARAMFORM',TEXT_PARAMETER,'NO');
    --      Add_Parameter(pl_id,'ANY_OTHER_PARAMETER', TEXT_PARAMETER, 'VALUE FOR OTHER PARAMETER');
            RUN_PRODUCT(REPORTS,'REPORT_NAME', ASYNCHRONOUS, RUNTIME, FILESYSTEM, pl_id, NULL);
    END;Also you can add as many User created or System parameters as you want using add_parameter. Updated the code to add PARAMFORM parameter.

  • Where clause for TaskLOVVO on OTL Timecard

    Hi,
    Following is the customization on our OTL timecard layout(Projects and Payroll Layout):
    ->Extended TaskLOVVO and based on a value selected in TaskLOV, i am defaulting Hours type.
    The dynamic where clause for the TaskLOVO is taken care of by the below QUALIFIER_ATTRIBUTES(Same as seeded layout)
    QUALIFIER_ATTRIBUTE14 = "HxcCuiTaskProjectId|PROJECT|Y#HxcCuiTaskProjectNumber|PROJECT-DISPLAY|Y"
    QUALIFIER_ATTRIBUTE15 = "project_id = ::HxcCuiTaskProjectId#upper(project_number) = upper(::HxcCuiTaskProjectNumber)"
    But in some scenarios the dynamic layout is not getting appended to TaskLOVO and the query behind the TaskLOV is pulling too many records.
    This issue is happening on Fridays when around 15000 employees submit the timecards, as Friday is our deadline for Timecard submission.
    I have tried different scenarios to replicate this issue in test intances but I am not able to replicate it.
    Please suggest what could be the issue and why is the whereclause is not getting appended in some scenarios.
    Thank you

    Thank you for your reply.

    END HXC_LAYOUT_COMP_QUALIFIERS
    END HXC_LAYOUT_COMPONENTS
    And the query in TASKLOVVO:
    SELECT task.task_number tasknumber, task.task_name, task_details taskdetails, task.task_id taskid, bolinf.GETALIASID(proj.project_type,proj.project_id,task.task_id, :1, :2) billable_flag, task.project_id, task.start_date, task.completion_date, task.chargeable_flag, proj.project_number , proj.project_details from pa_online_tasks_v task ,pa_online_projects_v proj where proj.project_id = task.project_id
    In the above query GETALIASID is a custom function that returns a value.
    Thank you

  • How to configure default parental settings for all users (10.7)?

    Hello,
    I've made a silent installation of iTunes using MSI files and it works well.
    I need to enable parental controls and configure it. Users must be preventing of changing these settings.
    At the end of the iTunes installation I automatically created registry keys :
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Apple Computer, Inc.\iTunes\Parental Controls]
    "AdminFlags"=dword:001b7ac5
    "AdminMoviesLimit"=dword:000000c8
    "AdminTVShowsLimit"=dword:000001f4
    "AdminRatingSystemID"=dword:0000000b
    "AdminGamesLimit"=dword:0000012c
    According to http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2102 it is the procedure to set default parental settings for all users and to lock these settings.
    When iTunes is first launched, parental settings are not set nor locked.
    I use iTunes 64 bits on Windows 7 64 bits.
    Where is the mistake?
    Thanks in advance.

    You can set up a system cache for sharing jars: See here: http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/docs/guide/javaws/developersguide/enterprise_config.03.06.html

  • Dynamic where clause for MULTIPLE values

    In the following of dynamic where clause?
    i have some somewhat different problem.
    Is a dynamic where clause for multiple values possible?
    If the inputvariable varCode1,varCode2,varCode3,varCode4 are 0 then show all id's otherwise filter the resultset on var1 and/or var2,and/or var3,and/or var4.
    Example table:
    create table t
    (d int,var int);
    insert into t values (1 ,1 );
    insert into t values (2 ,1 );
    insert into t values (3 ,2 );
    insert into t values (4 ,3 );
    insert into t values (5 ,4 );
    insert into t values (6 ,4 );
    insert into t values (7 ,4 );
    insert into t values (8 ,4 );
    insert into t values (9 ,5 );
    insert into t values (10, 6);
    insert into t values (11, 6);
    So what i want to change the where clause upon the value of the varCodes. If var1 and var are not 0 a "AND" should be used otherwise an "OR"
    select id
    from tst
    where var = DECODE( :varCode1, 0, var, :varCode1)
    or/and(?) DECODE( :varCode2, 0, var, :varCode2)
    or DECODE( :varCode3, 0, var, :varCode3)
    or DECODE( :varCode4, 0, var, :varCode4)

    Please turn off your Caps Lock
    and try this link

  • Access control for different user groups in APEX 4.0

    Hi guys,
    in Apex 4.0, is there any way to use the access control page to configure access control for different user groups?
    The access control page currently only has an access control list by users with 3 privileges namely, Administrator, Edit & View where Administrator has the highest access level & View the lowest. Therefore 1 user cannot have more than 1 different privilege, however if the user belongs to 2 or more different groups then we can control what access he can have in a more fine grained manner. We also want to have more than the 3 privileges given.
    Can we assign different groups to different users and let them have different privileges to be configured by page, region, process or item level?
    Now Apex will create 2 tables, Apex_Access_Control & Apex_Access_Setup to store the application access control mode & access control list. It will also create 3 authorization schemes "access control - administrator", "access control - edit" & "access control - view" based on the 2 tables.
    Does this mean we have to change the table structures & edit the authorization schemes to suit our usage? We are reluctant to do this because if we upgrade to a newer version of Apex then we would have to merge our pl/sql coding with Apex's updated code.
    How can we auto-configure more than the 3 authorization schemes in the access control page? Is there any way to achieve a finer grain of access control based on the current access control administration page given by Apex without writing it ourselves?
    We are afraid that we may have missed something on Apex access control & do not want to reinvent the wheel.

    Hi Errol,
    to build your own application authorization scheme around the security model supplied by Apex for administration of the Apex environment would be a bad idea.
    This was never intended for authorization scheme management in custom built Apex applications, it was solely intended to control access in the Apex environment overall. The API for it is not published, and making changes to it, such as adding more roles, would run the risk of breaking the overall Apex security model. It would not be supported by Oracle and Oracle would not guarantee the upwards compatibility of any changes you make in future versions of Apex.
    In short, you should follow Tyson's advice and build your own structure. As he indicated, there are plenty of examples around and provided your requirements are not too complicated, it will be relatively simple.

  • Default favorites portlet for different groups in oid

    Hi,
    We are using Portal 10.1.4.
    I want to use the favorites portlet to have default favorites for different user groups (So different set of default favourites for diffrent portal group)
    Is this possible? Is the portlet cached at the system level? can this be changed?
    Also, How do I hide the help link and image from the 'personalize' wizard?
    Can the display in the wizards be modified in other ways?
    cheers
    Kev

    Vijay, that doesn't seem to work. What I need (and I think it is the same as the original poster ) is to have several different instances of the favorites portlet or one instance that can have its links access controlled. e.g. A favorites portlet for the students group with links that only that OID group can see, a favorites portlet for staff with links that only the staff OID group can see. I am using portal 10.1.4 and cannot see any way to access control the default favourites.
    Thanks,
    Steven.

  • SSO through the BOE repository manager for different user names.

    Hi all.
    I have a task to provide a SSO access from Portal to the Crystal reports, stored in the BO folder.
    I've configured everything following the configuration guides, including:
    1. SSO by SAP Logon Ticket with the back-end system.
    2. System in portal SLD. Connection tests passed successfully.
    2. BusinessObjects Enterprise repository manager (BOErm) in KM.
    I've created  in the Portal a test user with the same name as in the back-end system. Everything works fine.
    But I SSO doesn't work if users are different.
    The problem is that production users have different names in the Portal and in the back-end system.
    I cannot find how can I configure user mapping for access reports through the BOErm.
    I changed the Logon Method in the portal system from SAPLOGONTICKET to the UIDPW but it didn't help.
    Seems like BOErm doesn't use the portal system at all and always connects to the back-end by SAPLOGONTICKET method.
    Can anybody help me to solve my problem?
    How can portal users access folders in the back-end system where they have different users names?
    Thank you in advance.
    Mikhail.

    Hi,
    just to clarify it a bit more.
    You have a SAP EP woth SSO to BO. Whats the Datasource ? R/3, BW, CRM ?
    Usually the names of the users are identical on the SAP EP and the Backend like BW.
    You just have to confiure SSO (like you did), import the roles from BW to BO, grant permissions on EP (that the users/roles can see the iView), grant permissions on BO (that the users/roles have access to the report) and you should be fine.
    Where is the mismatch of the Usernames ? Between SAP EP and Backend like BW ?
    SAPLOGONTICKET is the only authentication method you can use between SAP EP and BO

  • Set default mouse speed for guest user?

    Anyone know how, where to set a default mouse speed for all users. I have an iMac running Maverick. I set my personal mouse speed near the highest. The default speed is the same slow pace for the guest profile and I would like to change and KEEP it a little faster. Currently when I log out of guest account, all settings, files, etc are deleted. I am admin so ... anyone? Help? Something akin to the windows registry? I'm a newbie to Mac OS X, but learn quick.

    Hi,
    Try with SHD0 (Transaction and Screen Variants) .

  • [SOLVED] Partition & Access for different users

    Hey guys, I’m kind of lost and need some help.
    Scenario:
    My computer is set up with two hard drives: one SSD, which holds Arch and the /home folder, and a regular HDD, which holds the /var folder and where all data should go on two separate partitions.
    Both partitions are mounted at /mnt/HDD2 and /mnt/HDD3.
    Naturally, they both belong to root. However, since I want to be able to save all my music, games and whatnot on these two partitions I need to be able to access them as a normal user. On a single user system that would be a no-brainer; I would simply change the ownership. However, I plan to have another user use my computer from time to time and thus need to have the partitions accessible not only for one but a second user as well. And that’s where I can’t get things to work.
    First I’ve changed the group for the partition (users) and added both users to the corresponding group (users) but could not write on the partition.
    Then I’ve run chmod a+rxw on the partition. Beside the fact that I think that this is quite an inelegant solution, newly created folders where still only accessible by the corresponding user.
    I’ve also set the SGID-Bit but no dice either.
    Now I’m totally lost. Obviously, I’m missing something but I don’t see what.
    tl;dr: I need access to a partition for different users on a single system so that they can easily save, write and share files between each other.
    Any help appreciated.

    Problem solved.
    I ended up using umask. It's basically a single user system anyway with a second user only using it from time to time and both of us having their own group. So it should be relatively save using umask.
    I've changed the owner and group of the partition:
    chown user1:group /mnt/HDD
    ...and the permissions:
    chmod 2770 /mnt/HDD
    ...and added both users to the corresponding group of the partition:
    gpasswd -a user1 group
    gpasswd -a user2 group
    Finally I've changed umask to 007 for each individual user while leaving the system-wide umask untouched.

  • Hi I have two questions. I am using NAS 4.1 and was wondering is it possible to set a different session timeout for different users? How is the session timeout set? Thanks, YS

    <i>I am using NAS 4.1 and was wondering is it possible to set a different session timeout for different users?</i>
    Um, there is no such thing as NAS4.1.
    I'm assuming that you mean NAS4.0 (maybe NAS4.0sp1?). If so, then the session timeouts are specified in the session section of the NTV configuration files.
    AFAIK, you can specify session timeouts on a per user basis.
