Defaulting Parameter Form DESTYPE to Printer???

I am trying to run reports from forms with a parameter form (PARAMFORM=yes) and default the Destination Type parameter to Printer (DESTYPE=Printer) in the 10g environment. The problem when I do this is that the html code for the parmeter form is sent out to the printer. I just want the destype setting defaulted to printer so that once the user enters needed parameters and hits the submit button the report output goes to the printer. Does anyone know a way to do this??
It seems to me that the reports sever knows it is dealing with the html parameter form that it generated so I am puzzled that it sends this to the printer?? I would think that the destype, desname, desformat, etc.. of the report object would not apply to the html parmeter form itself but it certainly seems to. What am I missing here?
I realize I can set the destype to cache and then have the user select "Print" when they are ready but any time we add more mouse clicks for the end user it is a very big deal so that is NOT a good solution.

  • Parameters that do not show up on default parameter form

    Reports upgraded to 6/6i from SQL*ReportWriter/Oracle Reports 2.5 contain parameters that both do and do not show up on the default parameter form.
    Is there any property that can be set in the Object Navigator to disable or enable a parameter on the default parameter form. I know I can create a parameter form and specify which parameters are on it, but user created parameter forms look a bit different from the default parameter form in character mode.

    You can read "Selecting parameters to include in the Runtime Parameter Form" topic in the Reports on-line help.
    I hope this will help you.

  • Reports 10.1.2 Services: Apply Stylesheet to default parameter form

    Hello,
    When we migrated from a Windows environment for our Reports10g Services to Linux, for some reports, the default parameter form generated from the browser (rwservlet) has prompts with font size 2 which is rather small for some users.
    Is there a global setting at the Reports Services level where this is controlled? I want to avoid opening each report and changing font size on the parameter form.

  • Show parameter form and then print directly to client printer

    I have few reports that show parameter form for user entry. After the user enters the parameter and hits Submit query, the report should automatically get printed on the client's default printer. I tried to use ORARRP but I could get that to work only for reports do not open parameter form before going directly to the printer. Can someone please guide me how to achieve this?
    Thanks!

    I would like it to go to the client PCs default printer. Can you please tell me how do I do that?

  • Print size does not default to form size when printing PDF form.

    So, we have created an interactive new client form for our firm. The form was created in LiveCycle Designer ES 8.2 and is set to legal size (8.5 x 14). After the form was completed and exported, it was filled out for testing and printed. During the printing process it was noticed that in the print dialog box, the dimentions for the form were wrong. It showed that the default document size was 8.5 x 11. Where and how is this changed in LC?
    A new form was created (starting from scratch) with the document settings set to legal again, and inside of LC in the PDF preview panel, I tried to print and the same thing occured.
    Please advise as how to set the document to its default size when printing without have to do it in the print dialog box.

    The print dialog doesn't display the forms dimensions but those of the currently selected paper format of your printer.
    If you change the page format in the printer driver the diemensions in the preview will change too.

  • Why local file destype does not appear in the parameter form ?

    Hi,
    There is a Destype option Local File but it does not appear in the list for Destype in the Parameter form.Why?
    Even file is not working & the reports server is getting hanged if i specify the destype as file & a valid file name & format is given.
    Print option from the app server is also not working, i mean remote printing.
    My App server machine can see my local printer, but when i give the print share name or literally five\\machine name..printername then too print option is not working.
    Thanks

    Hi Shaun,
    I'am using 9iDS & the reports documentation says that Local File DesType Option is valid for rwclient & rwservlet.
    When your specify in the command line option it works, no issues but in web reports where i get the parameter form Destype list does not contain Local File Option.
    For web reports i use rwservlet.
    i mean to say my url is something like this
    http://oracle.guru:8888/reports/rwservlet?report=abc.rdf&userid=a/b@c&destype=cache&paramform=yes&server=myserver
    one more peculiar thing, i have reported it on Metalink.
    As you can see in the above URL i have given an argument of destype=cache, if i do not give this then my parameter for will not come up!!!, why should i give a destype for the parameter form to be displayed?
    Ok coming to my current problem..
    in 9iDS Reports is Local File supported? i.e. when i give a URL like above(My parameter form has system & user parameters including DesType,DesName & DesFormat).
    coming to the file option in DesType.
    In my parameter form if i select Destype as File & give a valid file name & a valid Desformat the report server hangs i mean there is no activity on the client & after this any report requests from any other clients is not responded by the Reports Server.
    When i check in the performance monitor of my Reports Server the CPU Utilization will be constant at 100%
    Thanks

  • Submit query  button  parameter form issue

    hi
    im facing problem submit query button . im working in as 10g r2. Every thing is working fine but when i click on submit query button of parameter form. it gives error and and page cant find. its reason that it takes localhost name in url and localhost(asserver.dht.com) is not recognized on internet. To resolve this issue i designed my own parameter form in html and in post method i use my domain name( www.ddgi.com) which is registered on internet. please give me solution so that i can use default parameter form. where from it picks machine name so that i can change it accoding to my domain name.
    My localhost name is asserver.dht.com
    my registered domain on internet is www.ddgi.com

    To help you see what is happening, temporarily add DESNAME to your parameter screen. Make sure that DESNAME on the parameter screen has a value before you click the Submit Query button.
    If you are running the report with a local report service (running on your workstation), the value of desname should be the name of your default printer.
    If you are running the report on a network application server based report service you need to specify the name of a printer that is accessible to the server on which the report service is running. Make sure that it is specified in a way that the server can recognize it, e.g. \\printserver_01\HPLaserJ4210.
    Maybe this will help some.

  • Filtering List of Values in Parameter form

    1. I am calling reports from (web based) forms 6i and passing a parameter. Based on the parameter, i want to restrict the list of values in the parameter form of the report.

    I don't think so.
    We had to create a form with poplists to do the limitation of the second based on the first. By doing that we essentially bypassed the default parameter form and just passed the exact parameters we wanted.

  • Forms 11g OLE2 - Excel printing behind parameter Form.

    When running excel report in Forms 11g, the excel opens behind the parameter form instead of taking over the screen thereby making the worksheet partially invinsible until the form is minimized. This is not the case with 10g Forms. Is this caused by webutil? is there a command that can send the form behind the workbook once excel open command is invoked? Your help will be appreciated. Thanks

    If you were using OLE2 before and not an OLE canvas object, the code will basically be the same. There may be some changes needed if you originally wrote the code to support old Office versions, but that is due to changes on the MS side and has nothing to do with Oracle or Forms. There are several examples which can be found in MyOracleSupport (MOS) notes, but here is one example available on OTN. Although the example is for MS Word, the basic concept will be the same.

    Your code seems to be implementing metalink note 139546.1 - Using Reports parameter forms with RUN_REPORT_OBJECT on the web.
    For what I can see, the P_ACTION parameter should end in ?...
    i.e.
    P_ACTION=http://<hostname.domain:port>/reports/rwservlet?'
    set_report_object_property (
    repid,
    report_other,
    'paramform=yes P_USER_CONNECT='
    || vc_connect
    || ' P_SERVERNAME='
    || v_reportserv
    || ' P_ACTION='
    || v_report_url
    || '/reports/rwservlet?'
    );If this does not fix your problem, then to troubleshoot further you would have to post the code in your Before Parameter Form trigger of your report.
    Hope this helps,
    UPDATE:
    If the above does not fix your problem, my guess is that report name is not being generated in the hidden runtime values build by the code in the Before Parameter Form trigger.
    i.e.
    http://localhost:8889/reports/rwservlet?report=&destype=cache&desformat=PDF
    The above code will throw error REP-52005: The specified key report does not exist in key map file.

  • Parameter Form into PDF Output?

    Hello,
    I've written a few reports in 6i and want the web output in PDF. It works fine until I encounter a report needing parameter input. If I include the special parameter %P in the cgicmd.dat it pops up the parameter form and displays the result in a PDF document. Unfortunately, not all my reports need parameters, thus I must use the PARAMFORM=YES in my URL. This is were my problem arises, the parameter form is displayed but when I click on submit I get an error page. It says id doesn't recognize the output. Any ideas? Thanks.

    Hello,
    A File (or several if needed) is/are always generated in the cache whatever the destination type is (DESTYPE=FILE / PRINTER / ...)
    in http://download-uk.oracle.com/docs/html/B14048_02/pbr_arch.htm#i1005582
    - The Reports Engine populates the Reports Server cache.
    - The Reports Engine notifies the Reports Server that the report is ready.
    - The Reports Server accesses the cache and sends the report to output according to the runtime parameters specified in either the URL, the command line, or the keyword section in the cgicmd.dat file (URL requests only).
    You can use the parameter EXPIRATION if you want to "expire" some output files in the cache. After the duration specified in EXPIRATION, the files in the cache will be deleted.

  • Parameter form problems w/reports server

    I'm in the process of trying to make some reports from a forms-

    If I call the reports without a parameter form (just take the

    instead displaying a blank text field followed by a long string
    of values as plain text below it.

    hello,
    sounds like an issue we had in the early versions of 6i. i would suggest you upgrade to the latest patch.

  • DB Changed to UTF-8. Now parameter form prompts display in font "symbol"

    We are in the process of updating a vendor developed application.
    The database character set changed from WE8ISO8859P1 to AL32UTF8.
    The vendor supplied reports work fine but our in house developed reports now have an issue with the parameter form font. The parameter font for the prompts is defaulting to "symbol".
    This happens even on forms where we have not specified a paper parameter form and
    let Oracle generate a default one.
    Any ideas on what we need to set to get the parameter form prompts to appear as Courier?
