Deferences between 2 versions of reports

Hello,
I have a report with a repeating frame.
in this RF i display a clob field.
If texte is not too long, it's ok but if text is very huge, i get the following message :
REP-1814: Report cannot be formatted. Object 'vertically' can never fit within 'F_TEXTE'.
in another report i have the same, but this repeating frame in included in another one and all is OK !
this is under 9iAS 9.2.0.3 (Sun)
but on my station (Winnt) there is no message and report runs ok
Any idea ?

check the properties of the repeating frame. are the horizontal / vertical elasticity properties set to expand ?

How to compare between two versions of template project???

Dear All,
We are doing some cleanup activity in our solution manager system. For this actually we have created the replica of this project from production system to a sandbox system. We can do the cleanup of this project and can transport this new project to our production system and can move on.
But the pbm we are facing now is, how do we bring in the data captured or added to the production system after we have copied it to the sandbox system?
Can anybody throw in some light into this issue?
We tried the option of creating different version for the template and using the sa_project_upgrade transaction to compare between two versions of the template using "Current Version in Project" option. Not sure whether this will work out.
{{We thought that if we try in this way, we can find the difference between the two versions of the template project, and from there, might be we can bring in the new changes into our new project manually. We do agree that this is not the right approach.}}
But the end result we got was like we got the information regarding where all there is the difference between the current version in the template project to that of the original(in our case it checked against BPR as we selected the scenarios from BPR for this template). But what we expected was a difference between two versions of the template.
Pls help. Pls make a try to help. Any thoughts in this direction will help us to move forward.

I too had that doubt that my appraoch will not work. But wanted to get confirmation that it will not work. Also wanted to know about any other approach. Thank you for providing me with some alternative approach.
I tried the option suggested by you. But while running the comparison report for the newly copied project with the option "New Version of Original", I am getting the below error. I do agree that this approach should work. But for some reason I am getting the below error. Can you pls look into the same and help me out.

Link between two or more reports

Hi All,
I want to make a link between two Hyperion Financial Reports. I'm working on HFR 9.3.1 version.
For example :-
There must be an option in report, like a hyperlink to open another report. After a click on the link it will open the linked report.
I tried one option "Add releated contents" but that works only on grid which are having cell values but what I'm looking is to give a link on text and from that text link user will able to navigate.

Sorry I just thought of a workaround
You do have to use related content on a data value but you can use formatting to hide everything but the link. Use the REPLACE tab within the cell format to relace the data value with a text string (what you want your URL to display as). If you want it as a menu then you could do this in a seperate grid altogether to save you having to mess with your actual report grid too much.

George, I have been working with various versions of JDeveloper for the last 4 years and IMHO JDeveloper 9i is definitely better in so many ways that this is a No-Brainer.
There are so many new features and many improved features.
And since you are new to JDeveloper, you might as well start from the latest and greatest.

Also, the original Welcome page displayed when JDeveloper is first launched (JD9i/doc/welcome/welcome.html) does a good job of explaining the major features of JDeveloper.

If you are an existing user of SAP, you will probably be aware that as from January 2007 all releases below 4.6c will no longer officially be supported by SAP. Maintenance costs for releases 3.1 - 4.6b inclusive will also attract a total charge of 21% during 2005/6.
So what are your upgrade options?
You could upgrade to release 4.6c - or the more comprehensive mySAP.com - which are both currently scheduled to be supported by SAP until December 2009. These products have been available since 1999 and already have a broad user base. Bear in mind however that maintenance costs for this release will be 19% during 2007 and 21% during 2008/9.
If you wish to avoid the expense and disruption of a potential further upgrade in 2006/7, you may want to consider upgrading to release 4.7 (SAP R/3 Enterprise). Whilst this product incorporates relatively new technology, it has the advantage of being supported by SAP until March 2012 and provides new functionality in many areas.
SAP is encouraging existing users to go beyond the 4.7 (SAP R/3 Enterprise) environment and upgrade to mySAP ERP as a stepping stone to mySAP Business Suite. However, you should note that an upgrade to mySAP ERP requires a change in licensing plan. mySAP ERP licences are role-based, so you need to assess the number of finance, logistics, HR users etc. and pay accordingly. This is a radical change from previous licensing schemes operated by SAP, whereby each seat purchased was accorded full usage of the entire SAP environment (in line with user authorisations).
No technology upgrade is necessary to move from 4.7 (SAP R/3 Enterprise) to mySAP ERP. You simply add the benefits of mySAP ERP to your installation as you go along. The upgrade from mySAP ERP to mySAP Business Suite is equally straightforward you just add those mySAP products available in the latter that you require. The alternative strategy would be to remain on 4.7 (SAP R/3 Enterprise) or mySAP ERP and purchase mySAP products available with mySAP Business Suite as add-ons.

All of the above maintenance durations and extensions include all industry add-ons and all legal charges for HR and FI/LO.
If you are contained in say Financials and HR - then your burden to go to mySAP ERP is smaller - as you go from one system to another system.... on the opposite - if you use R/3 and use customer processes, manufacturing and purchasing processes - and you do not use yet mySAP CRM, mySAP SCM, mySAP SRM... then you not only have to pay more for the license - not only for mySAP ERP - but also for mySAP CRM, mySAP SRM, mySAP SCM... - the mySAP Business Suite may be interesting pricing option then...
But then to pricing - SAP says they will reduce the credit on your R/3 payments with the change of the calendar year... for some a big motivation to move to mySAP ERP license... but as a Gartner report from today pointed out - not many of these customers really upgrade to mySAP ERP in terms of functionality - but use it more as a license centralization for some instance consolidation - as well as only a technical upgrade. And then there are the many SAP customers who buy mySAP ERP - but stay on R/3 - but get this as they buy the mySAP BW license for all their users with it... and it's cheaper to buy mySAP ERP (as you need it sooner or later anyway) - than buying mySAP BW standalone now - and mySAP ERP in a few years...
One final argument... remember when mySAP ERP shipped first - March 2003. SAP said they would have the vertical code of R/3 by end of 2003... well they had not - all of it will be out only now in Q2 2006 with mySAP ERP 2005 --- three years later! How did SAP's world class engineering team miss dates so badly? It's tough to move working R/3 code over to the mySAP xxx world with NetWeaver! And no the secret: Is there a difference between you modifying a R/3 system -- and SAP development creating a vertical piece of code? Not really - or better - not at all... so have a very good luck at your modification...
Finally - there are some tools in the market which have a very good handle on estimating the implementation cost... take a look at them.
Bottom line: If you are using a lot of R/3 - you have major license cost and a major risk to upgrade... you should even look at alternatives to SAP then - as you spend as much in upgrading than switching... take advantage of some of the attractive commercial offerings from SAP competitors - even if you do this only to negotiate a better price from SAP.
If you are using a little R/3 only - and that is contained in mySAP ERP... then it comes back to how much license you want to pay now (or later - so it's really a financial consideration) - and your overall risk readiness. If you are happy to pay now and risk averse - you go for mySAP ERP 2004 or 2005... if you are risk sensitive and don't want to pay now and wait for others to be the "guinea pigs" for mySAP ERP 2007 / 2005 etc - then you go to R/3 Enterprise. Easier upgrade, no license cost. Sit on the fence and see what SAP and competitors do to service enable their apps.

1, in rebates there is no advanced rebate processing in 4.7
2. there is no scale group field in condrecords of agrement in rebate agreement.
3. there are lot of new reports available in SIS
4. in sales returns process also seperate config available in 6.0

Some structured criticism about compatibilty issues between CS versions

Every few months I hear a financial report how adobe isn't meeting sales and nobody seems to know why. The answer is right here in front of you.
I love Adobe products but your company just makes it hard to do business with.
I have purchased Adobe CS2 Design, Adobe CS3 Web, Adobe CS4 Production but you just make it financially and structurally impossible to continue upgrading. The price structure and development just doesn't add up.
CS2 dosen't support Vista, so I had to upgrade.
CS3 was a nightmare installing on both windows and Macs with Leopad with the activation software
CS4 was also a nightmare installing, and your tech support told me to buy a new computer, when it was all the new extra items.
Then I start looking into CS5.
After Effects adds an awesome Roto brush tool, but doesn't work with CS4 premier.
InDesign CS5 dosen't work with any previous version, so I can't get it becasue you can't swap files with agencies that don't have the upgrade.
Flash CS5 adds some nice enhancements, everyhting else remains basically the same --- but is it worth the package upgrade???
So your only choice is to buy Master collection at $900 every 1.25 years, per license and hope your creative agencies, printer and other stakeholders also upgrade. And you also have to hope your finance department is generous with you budget?
You also structure the price to upgrade at the same cost between single versions as you do 3 versions back.
Need to look at your price structure and workflow compatibality issues, then perhaps the stock price will jump and sales will pick up.
Anybody else agree with me???

See Bob, that's just the wrong attitude. The stock is doing fine so who cares if the customer is upgrading or happy.
Last I checked I was a customer and a professional, and basically your telling me that Adobe dosen't need your continued business.
Next time your dealing with a customer, why don't you try that line on them.
It's also just hard to tell a creative agency I started something in CS5 and well you'll have to upgrade all your software. Don't worry it's just a cup of coffee.
Most Adobe customers are small to medium size businesses, with a couple of licensces struggling to make ends meet.
Last I checked, it's called a workflow issue.
and by the way most companies are selling at 52 week highs, it's called a rebound from a depressed stock market.
Like I said it's just hard to do business with Adobe.

Difference between MBBS and MB5L report.

All capital inventory till FY-2008-09 was transferred to revenue inventory by movemnt typr 411-Q in MB1B.All the codes those were transferrd are now appearing in MBBS but with zero value. However these codes are appearing in MB5L with value under GL 132006 (for capital items) and having value of 1.08 crores (0.94 crore for imported items and 0.14 crore for revenue items). The GL for all these codes neds to be changed to 132000 (revenue inventory GL) so that in MB5L also these items appear as revenue items.As of today GL of all the codes appearing under GL 132006 are to be changed to 132000 except code 496700086.
now, changes are reflected in report MBBS but not showing correct information in MB5L report..
Please guide what is the difference between MBBS and MB5L report.

Thanks for your feed back. I could see Microsoft.ReportViewer.ProcessingObjectModel.dll to add as reference to my project. Actually I can open generated rdlc in designer, at run time I get error. I could not make out where is the exact mistake out of three
options flashed.

Difference between BBP_GET_STATUS_2 and CLEAN_REQREQ_UP reports

Could someone explain in simple way what is the difference between BBP_GET_STATUS_2 and CLEAN_REQREQ_UP reports? I have read the differences in standard documentation but it is a little confusing.

CLEAN_REQREQ_UP (Cleaner Job)
You can use this function for document types Shopping cart, (Local) Purchase Order, Confirmation, and Invoice to trigger a synchronization with the associated documents in the back-end system. The system checks whether and how the (follow-on) documents were posted in the back end, and updates the object link and references, as well as the document status.
A job (background processing) is generated for the program CLEAN_REQREQ_UP. When this is run, the system queries a database table containing the transfer information of the documents to the back end. The entries are checked with the data of the respective back-end systems. If the back-end transfer is successful, the respective entries are deleted and the prerequisites for further processing are created.
BBP_GET_STATUS2 (Status Job)
The status job was created by SAP to update the EBP system with data such as purchase requisition number, purchase order number, goods received or invoices recorded manually in R/3, etc. The report should not be run on a frequent basis at short intervals unless the order count from EBP to R/3 is not that high. Otherwise, a recommended interval for running the report is approximately every hour. Basically the schedule times depend on your business requirements.
Until this job runs, the user will not see the number of the backend document created in R/3 for a particular shopping cart in the history tab of the check status transaction.

Here you should maintain the application 'SRMNTY' with active flag.
Once this customizing is enabled, whenever a follow-on document
(either confirmation or invoice) for an extended classic PO is created
in the backend R/3 system, the R/3 system communicates to the SRM system
by creating an entry in the table BBP_DOCUMENT_TAB for this PO.
The item level of the SRM PO has fields to store the actual quantity
and values entered for the corresponding confirmations and invoices.
After that, run the reports CLEAN_REQREQ_UP and BBP_GET_STATUS_2.
When the report CLEAN_REQREQ_UP runs this will update the
PO with statistical information. With the latest information in
BBP_PDIGP table (statistical information) the query should work fine.

PO Version Log report....Urgent

Hi Experts,
I have to create a PO version log report, which should display old values and new values for each version of PO.
Values we can get using tables CDHDR and CDPOS but it table CDHDR is not saving version number. Version Number we can get from table EREV.
We can use FM CHANGEDOCUMENT_READ_HEADERS for ObjectID etc which takes values from cdhdr &
CHANGEDOCUMENT_READ_POSITIONS for old and new values whch takes values from cdpos.
But the problem is i am not getting how to match these tables to get exact values.
The code i have written using these FM is giving repeted values. means for each version it is giving same values, which is not right.

I need each and every data changed in all versions.

Difference between Asset Intelligence 09A report and reports in the Software Metering folder

Dear all,
I can not seem to grasp the difference between Asset Intelligence 09x reports and reports in the Software Metering folder. Do they extract conclusions based on the same data and which data are those? I also have come to notice that there are occasional dicrepancies
between them. Why would this be?

1. Software metering allows you to create a rule and meter application usage very granular, when it is started, how many times , how long it has been used e.t.c, Asset intellegence doesn't require you to create any rules it will only inventory start/stop
so you can get reports like "all computers that hasn't started a application in x days".
2.It depends on the license agreement for that application, but yes you can get how many has started a specific application within a timeframe.

Problem in transporting new version of report

Hi,
i am trying to transport a report which i had modified and there is a problem that when i generate the request to transport from QLTY to PRD Server the new version of report is not coming i.e. i am trying to transport the includes of the program .but it is not transporting the new version .
Plzz provide me guidelines how to solve this problem.

The includes must be added to the same request which is having MAIN of the report.
If you dont make any changes to any of the includes or Main, then the objects in the requests will be released not all the objects.
If you wish to transport all the Includes and MAIN program, then make some changes in each program

Fatal error C1900: Il mismatch between 'P1' version '20080116' and 'P2' version '20070207'

Hi all,
I have a Team Foundation Build Agent that has Visual Studio Team System 2008 Test Edition installed. One of the solutions that I compile with that Build Agent gives me the following errors:
VCBUILD : fatal error C1047: The object or library file '.\bin\Release\main.obj' was created with an older compiler than other objects; rebuild old objects and libraries
LINK : fatal error LNK1257: code generation failed
VCBUILD : fatal error C1900: Il mismatch between 'P1' version '20080116' and 'P2' version '20070207'
LINK : fatal error LNK1257: code generation failed
I've searched online and found that other people have experienced the same problem:

In the second posting one states "I had the same Error! After installing Service Pack1 for VS2008 it worked!". Thats great for him but I don't see any such update for the Test Edition of Visual Studio Team System 2008 - Test Edition.

I once handled a similar case in newsgroups. That case exhibit a almost same symptom. Please check out my summary below:
Problem
In that case, the customer has a DLL project that you had built on a machine where VS 2008 SP1 was installed. You then attempted to rebuild that project on a machine without SP1, and got a fatal compiler error C1900 “IL mismatch between ‘P1’ version ‘20080116’ and ‘P2’ version ‘20070207’”, and then LNK1257 “Code generation failed”. He found that rebuilding your static library alleviated the errors, but cannot accept this as a workaround because your clients will not have the ability to rebuild the libraries you distribute before they use them.
Cause
You had built the static library with the /GL (Whole Program Optimization) compiler switch, which requires Link Time Code Generation (/LTCG) when the static library is subsequently linked. These features require that all linked modules be built by the same version of the compiler. In fact, if precompiled headers are used, the same machine must build and link all the involved object code. Therefore, it is highly recommended that static libraries not be built with the /GL switch, since their intended use is quite frequently to support reuse by others.
Solution
You rebuilt the static library on your VS2008 SP1 machine without the /GL switch, and you no longer encounter this problem.
