Delaying Mail

We've had a number of cases of mail being sent as a part message by users of macbooks with the new glass mouse/mousebutton combo because the mousepad has been knocked and the pad took it as a "click".
Is there any way to use scripts to hold up any mail sent for 30 minutes. ( If I send mail now, it is dropped into the outbox for 30 minutes then sent). This would give us the way to catch a message containing errors. (Ideally a way to force immediate send too). There are very few e-mails that need such urgency.

Greetings,
There is no glass mouse; that would be far too fragile and dangerous if somebody dropped it. But there's no way to delay an email message; once you click the Send button, it's gone. Your only option for achieving something similar would be to save each message as a Draft, then open each message and Send them when you're ready.

  • How can I use Mac Mail to send a delayed mail?

I am trying to send a delayed email, meaning the email is not sent immediately
when the send button is pressed but at a pre-determined time.
I have looked through Google, tried different third party scripts available, including
Mail Scripts 2.10.3 by Andreas Amann, but none is supported under Mac OS X Lion.
I believe Mac Mail itself does not support this feature (to my disappointment),
but I read about using iCal and Automator to do my intended purpose.
However, I am not familiar with script-writing. If someone can provide me a
step-by-step procedure OR give me another way to do my intended purpose,
    it will be highly appreciated.

I opened Airport Utility today and it appears to have been simplified to the point where you can't do much with it these days.
Yes, welcome to the Fisher Price toy box utility.. where nothing in the way of advanced usage is offered.
Is there a way to accomplish what I want to do that is reasonably simple?
You can put time controls onto the offending addresses.
But if the hackers know anything at all they know how to access the MAC address of the computer and change it.. so the effectiveness of this is limited.
Change the current setup and password.. You must use WPA2 Personal and I recommend you use a pure alphanumeric password, mix case and numbers of 20 characters or more for your situation.. do not give that password to anyone.. protect the admin password of the TC itself equally well but with a different password. And protect the physical access to the TC from anyone in your home.. because the fact is all security on the TC is an illusion if the TC has open access.
See how to find passwords here.
i forgot my password for my router, how can I change them.
So anyone can discover your passwords without your knowledge and leave no trace on your system.
If you make no progress.. I suggest replacement of the TC as the main router of your network.. you need something with controls.. and even better controls that allow you to block people.
The favourite one now is older Netgear WNDR3800 . .you might need to buy from ebay although a few new ones are still around.. alternatively the WNDRMACv2 is simply the same hardware in a white box.. instead of black.
Load gargoyle firmware onto it.. sorry if I even point to where you can find this info my post will be deleted.. I can say it.. just cannot help further.. so use google.. there are lots of posts and let me assure you this get combo.
You can continue to use TC at what it does best.. a dumb wireless AP and location for TM backups.

    hi to every one,
Today we are facing an issue in exchange server 2010
Whenever internal user send a mail to some of gmail accounts user receives a mail from postmaster states that
This is an automatically generated Delivery Status Notification.
THIS IS A WARNING MESSAGE ONLY.

    Hi,
Did the issue occur when the specific user you mentioned above sent email to two gmail users at a time?
Is there any recipient limit for this specific user?
To narrow down the issue, I recommend you check the smtp log about this specific user for related messages.

  • Delayed mail delivery error with 1 internal user

We have an Exchange 2010 with 100 mailboxes  1 of our users is not getting any emails suddenly today after a server restart last night . She is not getting email from internal or external to the organization. All senders get a delayed delivery response
back from the exchange server when sending a message to her. All other users can send/receive internal and external. I ran the mail flow tool and there were no red checks for errors. User is not disabled in exchange nor in AD. I am lost at where to go next.

  • Delayed mail delivery

    Hi gurus,
I run a script for statistical purposes. The script reports the results via mailx.
This mail takes 15 minutes until I can see it in Outlook on my Windows.
Is there anybody out who can point me to the source of this behavior.
    Thanks Erindia

  • Very delayed mail delivery

I have been eperiencing delays of up to 8 hours for delivery of email seommy verizon.net account for the past week. Is something being done to correct the issue?

I, too, have been having some messaged delayed for as much as a day and sometimes more. I may try to get on a live chat with a Verizon rep this morning.

  • Delayed mail delivery after Rollup 6 install

After updating Exchange 2010 Sp3 to rollup 6, users are reporting that emails delivery is very slow and takes several hours to appear in Outlook. Mail delivery in OWA is instant.
The problem is fixed by disabling the Exchange cached mode option in Outlook but is not the best solution for laptop users.
Is this a known issue with rollup 6 or any patches available to fix this?
    thanks.

Disabling the cache mode means it's not using a OST instead it's online with exchange all the time, if the behavior is only seen when in cached mode then it's having difficulty synchronizing the OST, if you have users with large mailboxes this could be causing
    slowness.
Creating a new profile or removing and alternative to a new profile the ost and letting it recreate may solve for now, if you have outlook 2013 you can turn on cached mode but only cache 1 month of data this may be a solution for large mailboxes.
It is possible you have tipped the scales with the rollup install and are taxing the server just a little to much, is it a VM can you add Memory and see if there is some relief.
You can also try to run the exchange best practice to see if something else is going on.

  • Ban Outgoing e-mail addresses and delay mail send

    1. We want to limit users ability to send outgoing e-mails to particular e-mail addresses.
(Either by use of blacklist (by domain or specific e-mail address) or if necessary by limiting it to addressbook addresses. We would prefer use of blacklist.
    2. We also want to automatically hold all e-mails until either
    a) manually released or
    b) if not manually released, e-mail held for 1 hour (- allows mail to be retrieved if "accidentally pressed send" events occur ).
Any ideas for add-ons or other suggestions please
(Mac Mail and Entourage in use, but could standardise to only one)

It may be a transaction message. If so when you check tomorrow, check on this chart. See if you see your error listed. http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB02960

  • Delayed mails using WiFi (UK based)

I am in the UK, so maybe things are different from US regarding answer to my query.
Just bought an 8820 and am finding that if I set photo pick uo my providors signal (on Orange network) mails generally arrive within seconds of the arriving on my computer.
However if I set it to be on my home Wi-Fi network mails tend to be slow or not arrive at all. As one of the main reasons for buying the 8820 was the ability to use Wi-Fi I would like to find out why this happens.
Also I was on the Blackberry/Orange site 2 days ago on the link below, but now I get this error message:
"The site cannot be accessed in this manner. Please use the URL or link provided to you by your service provider"
    http://www.blackberry.orange.co.uk/
Can anyone assist with these please.
    Thanks
    Phil

One of the problems you're up against is that the iphone is designed to always have a data connection. There is no way, currently, to completely eliminate that data connection & still use the iphone as a phone. OS 4.0, when released this summer, will add the capability to completely turn that connection off, but OS 4.0 has not been released yet. When the iphone goes into sleep mode, it will disconnect from WiFi(to save battery) and connect to the cellular data network for any application that might need data. Again, a design feature that cannot be currently overridden.

  • Exchange system 2010 delay receiving mail from outside

    Hi Experts,
Recently, some users in my company reported that when a outside user (domain [email protected]) send mails to our users, maybe have attachments or not, some of them were delayed for a half of day. For example, yesterday, customer send mail at 1:00pm but our
user has received it at 4:00am today.
Before that, because our user reported that problem so i suggest her to require customer send mail to both our exchange system and a personal mail (yahoo mail). So today, our user said that she recieved mail in yahoo on time, but delaying in exchange. She
sends/recieves with other users in my company and other customers ok.
    My topo: Mailbox - ClientAccess/HubTransport - Fortimail - Internet.
I checked my fortimail and see that fortimail server also received mail at 4:00am.
    I think that:
    - If customer mail system has error. Why they still send mail to yahoo ok? They use promailserver.
    - If our system has error. Why we still receive mails from other customers.
    - I don't know if we have any problem with our physical connections but if that, we must have more reports than that (we only have 2 or 3 users reported delaying mail).
May anyone know the reason or have any advices for me in this case? Thanks in advanced.

    Hi Khoa_PD,
Agree with Nithyanandham, you can check the header of the email in your user's mailbox which received from the customer, it could help us to check where the message delayed via time stamp.
You can refer to the following article to understand message herders:
    View e-mail message headers

  • Mail Delay delivery issue on office 365

    Hi,
I had Exchange 2007 on premises setup and everything was OK,
Now we have migrate all exchange 2007 mailboxes to Cloud - Office 365 but after that users having issue delay mail delivery.
    Mx-record pointed to legacy exchange.
Awaiting for quick response to resolve it.

You can easily check where the delay is located by pasting an email header from a delayed mail here.

  • Creating a mail server from an SMTP feed

Currently, we are unsatisfied with our mail provider - mostly due to delayed mail receipt. After speaking to our ISP they advised us that we could set up our own mail server and they could stream SMTP to us, avoiding POP3.
Although I administer the server and the network I have no experience of mail servers and have a few questions. I would have searched the forum but I don't really know which terms to search.
I would very much appreciate a fairly full explanation and nothing too vague please.
    1. Is this easy to set up without additional hardware/software - is it built-in to OSX Server? What is it called and is it only accessed through CLI? Is there a good GUI alternative?
    2. What hardware/software would you recommend for a facility handling about 200-300 emails per day, most with attachments of around 1Mb? It is not unusual to exceed 1Gb of email bandwidth in a working day.
    3. What problems/shortfalls do I need to be aware of? Fequent crashes, database rebuilding, common address books, support, missing/undelivered/undeliverable mail, client set-up, etc
    4. How will our email change, both sending and receiving? Will we or our recipients notice any sort of change?
Thank you in advance. Please feel free to ask any questions.

Sorry for the 'vague' answer but it's called "Mail" in Server Admin app - presumably the application you are using to administer your server? You can find documentation on it in the Mail Service section here...
    http://www.apple.com/support/macosxserver/index.html
Apple docs are not everyones cup of tea but they are the starting point.
There are also other 3rd party mail server apps you can run in place of the built-in one.
    2. What hardware/software would you recommend for a
facility handling about 200-300 emails per day, most
with attachments of around 1Mb? It is not unusual to
exceed 1Gb of email bandwidth in a working day.
A G4 could do that easily - depending (of course) on what else it is doing.
    3. What problems/shortfalls do I need to be aware of?
Fequent crashes, database rebuilding, common address
    books, support, missing/undelivered/undeliverable
    mail, client set-up, etc
It just runs fine. Any time I have had problems it is because I have 'fiddled', but it is still a bit of software and you therefore become responsible for it (rather than your ISP/mail provider). "Common address books" is not a function of the OS X mail server. The mail logs are there for tracking whether "missing" mail was actually sent/delivered. Client set up is just as per usual requirements except you point clients to your server rather than ISP's.
    4. How will our email change, both sending and
receiving? Will we or our recipients notice any sort
    of change?
Sending from within the same LAN as your server appears a lot faster to people on the LAN since the transfer to the server is within LAN rather than out to internet. The server then sends out to internet.
Apologies again for the possibly not "full" answers but if I did that I would end up writing a manual

  • Need Applescript to apply stationery in mail.app

    Hi all,
I need help to make an applescript that will apply a selected stationery to a new message window that is already open in mail.app. Can anyone please assist? Thanks a ton!
Ultimately, I have a filemaker db that is going to have a button scripted to open a new message to a contact but I can't figure out how to then add the stationery to the message...

I know it sounds very similar, but if you want Gmail to function in Mail.app like it does in Gmail, where you archive most but not all of your mail, there are some unique settings.
    Gmail's recommended settings for Mail.app:
(note: for the rest of this message, if Gmail is a link, that's because I can't figure out how to not make hard-brackets not evoke some kind of special message board code.)
    Trash:
Move deleted messages to the Trash mailbox > do NOT check
Store deleted messages on the server > do NOT check
    * Do NOT save deleted messages on the server. Messages that are deleted from an IMAP folder (except for those in [Gmail]/Spam or [Gmail]/Trash) only have that label removed and still exist in All Mail. Hence, your client doesn't need to store an extra copy of a deleted message.
    * Do NOT save deleted messages to your [Gmail]/Trash folder because this will delete a message in all folders.
    * Do NOT save deleted messages to your [Gmail]/All Mail folder as some clients will try to empty this folder and ultimately fail. This can lead to delayed mail access or excessive battery consumption on a mobile device.
I can't try your script just now (at work), but I will try it once I get home. It looks like it should work in the most basic scenario.
If I wanted to filter the messages to go into the account specific Trash mailbox, is that a trivial process? Could I:
    tell application "Mail"
    set theMessages to (get selection)
set theAccount to (get account of theMessages)
move theMessages to mailbox "Trash" of "[Gmail]" of account "theAccount"
    end tell
That's just my guess at what the Applescript might look like.
    Thanks for all your help.

  • Delayed email - sending and receiving

Has anyone experienced receiving a delayed email. I also received a message from postmaster on a delayed email being sent? If so, do you know of any fix for it?

    Hi Russa:
That is usually caused by an ISP having server issues. I do not know of anything in Mail that would delay mail. I suggest you contact your ISP to see if they will acknowledge problems.

  • Microsoft Junk E-mail Reporting Add-on bouncing Emails after EOP migration

Our organization recently migrated from FOPE to Exchange Online Protection. Users who have the
Microsoft Junk E-mail Reporting Add-on installed on their Outlook desktop client now receive the following email message when reporting Junk Mail:
Delivery is delayed to these recipients or groups:
    [email protected]
Subject: Delayed Mail (still being retried)
This message hasn't been delivered yet. Delivery will continue to be attempted.
Is there a fix for this issue? Is there an alternate Add-on or should we uninstall the existing one from our Outlook clients?
    Thanks,
    Jason.

    Hi,
Sometimes some add-ins may take more time to load in Outlook, it depends on the performance of your machine and if you have multiple add-ins enabled, please consider disable some if you don't use them a lot.
Since you haven't mentioned which version of Outlook you are using, please note for Outlook 2013 users, we can try disabling the hardware graphics acceleration to check if this can help improve the performance:
Go to FILE tab -> Options -> Advanced
-> Display -> Uncheck Disable hardware graphics acceleration
    -> OK.
Let me know if you have any other question.
