Delete ABAP Program Variant

Hi,
Is there a way to block users from deleting the variants in an ABAP program?
The PROTECTED flag only protects against any changes...but allows deletion..strange!!!!

AT SELECTION-SCREEN.
CASE sy-ucomm .
WHEN 'VDEL' .
MESSAGE 'Variant cannot be deleted' TYPE 'E'.

Delete Abap program via change reqeust

Hi,
We deleted some ABAP report source code via tcode(SE38) at development system. The system ask insert the delete action to one change request. I have added it to the change request. The ABAP source code have delete at development system. We transported the change request to our QA and PRD system. The deleted ABAP program source code is still exist in QA and PRD system. We want to delete the QA and PRD system ABAP source code. Could you pls advise how to delete it? Thanks.

1. Access Tcode(SE38)
2. Input the delete program, Click Delete button.
3. The system ask generate the change request. I have create the change request.
4. Release and transport the change request to QA and PRD system.
5. The development ABAP program has deleted. I can't find it via Tcode(SE38).
6. We checked the ABAP program at QA and PRD system. It is still exist.

Abap program variant error in process chain

Hi experts,
I need your help one more time...
In our process chain, we run the program RSIMPCUST to bring currency and units from the source system to BW. We have created a variant to run this program and call it in the process chain. One of the variant's parameter is the logical system, which was configured as our DEV system.
When we transport this process chain to QA and run it, the variant continues to refer the DEV logical system, and not the QA logical system as it should.
any ideas?

Values in variants are not converted. You can use the same variant in your ABAP program, but you need to change the value in the parameter for logical system in each system you transport the change to. The only alternative is to create a logical system name in SM59 that is the same in all your BW systems but it refers to the local R/3 system.
In other words, you will have two logical systems in your BWD system pointing to your R/3 Dev. Let's call them R3DCLNT100 and R3SYSTEM, where R3DCLNT100 is also the source system (in RSA1). You can use R3SYSTEM in your variant for your ABAP program. In your BWQ (test system), you will have two logical systems also, R3QCLNT100 and R3SYSTEM, where R3QCLNT100 is also your source system.

Retriving a a deleted abap program

A Custom ABAP program was accidentally deleted a few weeks ago and the transport made it to production and all systems. Are there any options to get a copy of the program back from somewhere? anywhere?

Create a program with the same name as earlier (which is deleted)
Click on "Utilities" --> "Versions" --> "Version Management"
Select the version of your earlier program and click on display.
Your earlier program is displayed here.
This is only possible if you have generated a version and saved the program in a package other than $TMP.

How to delete ABAP program of production environment

Dear Experts,
I have to delete a Z program, exists in production environment. But the program does not exist in development environment. Is this possible to delete the program using transport request? or other ways to delete the program in production environment.

ABAP Program step in PC

Hi,
In the Process chain I have an ABAP Program step at the end of the chain. The issue is the process chain executes successfully all the steps and this last program step also executes fine as per our logic but the status of this process step alone shows as Red due to which the whole chain status turns red.
In the job log, i get the below message
Process ABAP Program, variant XXX has status Canceled (instance )
Note: This doesn't happen at all times when we execute the chain. In success case, Instance is generated for the ABAP program step.
Kindly suggest to overcome this.

Hi Dinesh,
I have also got some random errors like these with ABAP programs in Process Chains. I could overcome the same by editing the PC, deleting the ABAP program step, re-creating the ABAP program step, saving, activating and re-scheduling the process chain.
what I could gather is that the ABAP program steps get corrupted due to unknown reasons!!!

Process chain program variant will not change from yellow...

Problem:
I have a process chain that has two branches with 3 process chain variants on each leg in a parallel configuration. The process chain variants run different program variants. I am using variant object called "ABAP Program with Success/Failure " which can have a yellow, green, or red status and has status arrows that can be either red or green that connect to other process chain variants. The program executed with these variants is a customized BPS UPC_BUNDLE_EXECUTE program. When I run this PC the first variant on each leg usually hangs indefinitley on the yellow status. In the Backg tab log (double click PC variant in Log View) I can see the various SQL code that was ran. The last line of the log is an SQL-END:... Sometimes it will get past the first 2 varaints and hang on the next set of 2. Other times it will just hang on the last variant of one leg. It is very sporadic.
What I have observed and tried:
If I check my SM51 for the server the chain is running on I can see that the program in question is not running. If I run the same program through SE38 that runs via a PC variant it runs sucessfully in an appropriate amount of time. If I kill the process that has been running indefinitley through SM51 the process chain variant will go from a yellow status to a red as expected.
I changed they way I ran the programs from running in parallel in 2 legs to running all of them in one leg serially. That did not work. At least one program variant will hang on the yellow status.
I replaced all the variants using "ABAP Program with Success/Failure" to "ABAP Program" which has a red/green status but no red or green arrows, but black coming out of the variant forcing it to move down the chain on a sucess or failure. The process chain variants also hung in the yellow status using the "ABAP Program" variant.
I have tried starting the process chain using both "Direct Scheduling" with "Immediate" and "After Event." I have also kicked it off using "Start Using Meta Chain or API" so it was functioning as a sub process chain. Programs were still yellow in every case without changing to red or green.
I created new process chain variants for every single program/variant that I am using. Still no luck.
I have tried removing the chain from the schedule and re-activating and re-running and still no luck.

Calling an ABAP program in PC

Hi,
We have a ABAP program variant in our process chain which excutes an ABAP program. The problem is before the actual process of the ABAP program completes the variant is changing to green and triggering the subsequent process. I need to trigger the following process only when my actual program gets completed.
Can any one suggest a way out.

Check out what your ABAP program is doing. It is really odd that though the job called for invoking the ABAP program is not finished ... the next process is starting. If my understanding is wrong please correct me here.
How can you say that the next process is starting before the current process finishes?

Selective Deletion of the Cube contents in Abap Program of the PChain

Dear Experts
I need to selectively delete the contents in Basic Infocube using Process Type - ABAP Program in the Process Chain in BW 3.5
For this I have to give the Variant and Program name in the Process Type - ABAP Program in the Process Chain
The ABAP Program for this purpose can be generated automatically by the system in the the below navigation
info cube> Manage>contents > system menu(in the Top)> Status
but this abap program is changing dynamically every time and hence in the Process chain ABAP Program node is failing with error saying that that program is not available
I have tried the same way in the selective deletin navigation path also in the cube manage
Please let me know how to get the system generated program to use in the Process type-ABAP Program in Process Chain

Hi KSR,
Try this.. start a selective deletion on the cube. you will get a background job running. Get the job name from SM37.
Now write a ABAP program with the below code.
parameter: p_Job_Name type sysuuid_c.
CALL METHOD cl_rscrmbw_bapi=>exec_rep_in_batch
EXPORTING i_barepid = l_jobnam.
Execute the above program. Pass the job name which you got from SM37.
Create a variant with that job name.
Now schedule this newly created program. This should solve your issue.
Note : The job name might vary from one server to another (Dev / Qual / Prod). So if you are planning to move your process chain from Dev, then pass the Job name (in prod) as the variant in yr Dev system and then transport it.

Abap program to maintain variants in RSRPARAMETRIZA

SAP provided an ABAP example to maintain 3.5 variants in NW04s
Report Z_MASS_VARIANT_MAINTENANCE is available in the next u2018how tou2019 document.

This is only helpfull if you use 3.5 workbooks.
7.0 workbook variants are not save in RSRVARIANT anymore. 7.0 variants are saved in table-field RSRPARAMETRIZA-STRING (xml field with selection values).
I need to develop a program to maintain this variants. Can anybody save me some time and send me similar abap program for 7.0 workbooks ?

Bruno is right about class CL_RSR_PARA.
This is an abap example is used to maintain 'ZRT_M4M_Q0016' Query variants. In this case variant BC_SALST001 is updated.
If you need to update different report variant you have to change the 'form create_variant'.

Hello experts,
can u give me step wise procedure to create jobs for a program with a variant name thru ABAP???
Also, can a transaction can be scheduled as a job to run in background with a variant name???

Hi,
To create a job through ABAP program you can do the following.
Go to Menu bar.
In there, go to SYTSTEM> SERVICES> JOBS--> DEFINE JOB.
Then give the JOB NAME and CLASS in the screen that comes up.
This is how we schedule a program.
Now, to create a variant for a program -
First activate your program in SE38. Then execute it .
Now, click on SAVE button. It will open up the variant creation screen. Give the details there like variant name and value for the fields. Save and come back.

Hi Hoo,
You can get the variants of a ABAB Program from table VARID. Give the report name to the VARID-REPORT field and you will the list of variants for this report under field VARID-VARIANT and VARID-ENAME is the user who created the variant.
Otherwise, You can use the function module RM_GET_VARIANTS_4_REPORT_USER to get the variants of a report

ABAP Program to delete the WDSO contents from active data table & Manage Re

Hi,
We have requirement where we have to delete the request id from manage screen and data from Active table of WDSO.
I have gone through this weblink where we have to hardcode the DSO name in the table (Deletion of WDSO (Write-optimized DataStore object) Load requests and active table data without deleting it from targetSAPNetworkWeblogs%2528SAPNetworkWeblogs%2529)
Apart from that is there any suggestions or input where i can have selection screen for DSO and execute that will help us to delete the Request IDs and content of active table from WDSO.
Suggestions or input programs really appreciated.

With program RSSM_DELETE_WO_DSO_REQUESTS it is possible to delete old requests in the Write-Optimized DSO, exactly like we are used to do with PSA requests via a Process Chain.
This program is available as of SAP NetWeaver BW 7.01 SP07. See note 1437407 for details.
You can automate the deletion of old WO requests by using the ABAP program step in the Process Chain.
