Deleting app storage when deleting iOS application

I created an iOS application that used a SQLite database, and the behavior seemed to be that the SQLite data was removed when the application was deleted, and reinstalled. That is the behavior I wanted.
However I no longer need the power or complexity of a database so I switched to EncryptedLocalStorage to store a simple blob of info.  However, this information does not get deleted when the app gets deleted, and the state persists if I reinstall the app. Not what I wanted.
Is the SQLite database unique in that it gets deleted upon app deletion? Is there a simple file storage mechanism where I can be assured the data will be removed when the app gets removed? What's really going on here?
Any information is appreciated.

This is probably on a smaller scale than what you are looking for but SharedObjects get deleted when the app is removed and reinstalled.

  • Single app mode in my IOS application

    I want to implement Single app mode in my IOS application through coding. For this I am doing the following steps:-
    1. I am supervising my device through apple configurator and using config profile generated by configurator itself.
    2. I have selected the restriction payload to generate my profile because I want single app mode functionality.
    3. According to apple documentation one key is added in Restriction payload that is “autonomousSingleAppModePermittedAppIDs” in IOS and later. But I am not able to find it anywhere to fill my bundle identifier. I have tried to add this key manually by editing the profile in text edit but this process invalidates my profile.
    Here is the link reference:-
    https://developer.apple.com/library/ios/featuredarticles/iPhoneConfigurationProf ileRef/Introduction/Introduction.html#//apple_ref/doc/uid/TP40010206-CH1-SW13
    Under Restrictions Payload section of the documentation.
    4.I have tried to generate my profile with the help of iPCU(iPhone configuration utility) as well but did not find anything.
    So please help me out what I am missing here or what else i need to do.
    Thanks

    Hi Ollie,
    I've found a workaround thanks to Chris from Kiosk Pro App.
    You need to transform all requests (only when Guided Access is on) with navigation type "UIWebViewNavigationTypeLinkClicked" to navigation type "UIWebViewNavigationTypeOther"
    One issue with this workaround is that the Guided Access message still appears for links using types "Form Submitted" and "Form Resubmitted". Trying to transform these types could potentially cause an error with loading the page.
    Here is an implementation by Blandine from Adaptive Channel :
    In the method :
    - (BOOL)webView:(UIWebView *)webView shouldStartLoadWithRequest:(NSURLRequest *)request navigationType:(UIWebViewNavigationType)navigationType {
    Just add  :
    if (UIAccessibilityIsGuidedAccessEnabled()) {
            if (navigationType == UIWebViewNavigationTypeLinkClicked ) {
                navigationType = UIWebViewNavigationTypeOther;
                [webView loadRequest:request];
                return NO;
    Hope it helps.
    Cheers,
    Mehdi

  • App issue when installing iOS 4.3 update

    I installed 4.3 today, and at the very final step it threw an error message. I had to reconnect the ipod, restore it to factory settings, and restore it to a backup.
    The backup didn't have my apps or music in it, so I called Apple's support line and they were kind enough to re-initialize a download of all apps and music.
    I opened itunes on my ipod, and it immediately showed all my old apps, in the "paused" mode (as in, paused from download)
    Now, I had downloaded a fair number of apps over all time, and had more than could be displayed on the few home screens.
    I've downloaded all visible apps and organized them into folders. My problem is that there are now still many apps offscreen in the "paused" state, which is sort of an interstitial state between not existing on the device and downloading.
    I am aware that you can reboot the device to show all offscreen apps, but I am not sure if this applies to paused apps as well, and the last thing I'd want to do is mess up and lose all of those paused apps.
    I've tried disabling and re-enabling restrictions several times to no effect, downloading a brand new app, and everything else that's been suggested except for rebooting the device for fear of losing those pending apps.
    What would you all suggest I do? There must be some way to force it to display all offscreen apps.
    This is an ipod touch 4th gen running 4.3.
    Thank you very much for your help!

    Hello
    I think i have a similar problem to this. When i updated my iPod 2nd generation last week because i required it I found after it was all installed correctly that my apps did not work properly. For example, when i want to play a game it loads up for the first 5 seconds and then goes black and then goes back to my homescreen - AND this happens to every single app i have. It even happens when im on safari after a while. I honestly have no idea what has happened to it but before this occured it was working perfectly fine. I just know that this has something to do with the update because during the update the software was not downloaded properly and so i had to repair iTunes and re-install it.
    Please HELP, i dont want my beloved iPod to break

    Or, since that's a matter of not refreshing, turn off your wifi& reconnect

  • Trying to download the new Black Ops app and when downloading it says I don't have enough storage space. I made sure I had 1.31 GB of space(like it requires)but it still says I don't have enough space. I even tried to delete more 2.5 GB (I have iPhone 4S)

    I was trying to download the new Black Ops (Strike Team) app and when I try to download it, it says I don't have enough storage space. I made sure I had 1.31 GB of space (like it requires) but it still says I don't have enough space. I even tried to delete more 2.5 GB (I have the iPhone 4S) and the app specifically says that is is compatable with iPhone 4S. I even tried rebooting the phone a couple times before downloading, but it still says the same thing.

    The app you are trying to download my be a zipped file and more space than 1.3GB.  go to settings/general/usage and delete what you no longer want to make more space

    What model iPad and what iOS version is it currently running?
    If you have an iPad 1, the max iOS is 5.1.1. For newer iPads, the current iOS is 7.0.2. The Settings>General>Software Update only appears if you have iOS 5.0 or higher currently installed.

    If you are currently running an iOS lower than 5.0, connect the iPad to the computer, open iTunes. Then select the iPad under the Devices heading on the left, click on the Summary tab and then click on Check for Update.
    Tip - If connected to your computer, you may need to disable your firewall and anitvirus software temporarily.  Then download and install the iOS update. Be sure and backup your iPad before the iOS update. After you update an iPad (except iPad 1) to iOS 6.x, the next update can be installed via wifi (i.e., not connected to your computer).
    Tip 2 - If you're updating via wifi, place your iPad close to your router to preclude getting a corrupted download.

    I deleted an app but when I try to reinstall it on the App Store, it still says open

    Are you deleting by tapping and hodling down on the icon until it wiggles? Have you tried to deleting in in the settings? Settings>General>Usage>Storage>App(name)>Delete App.
    Try deleting in the settings and then reset your iPad. To reset rhe iPad, hold down on the sleep and and home buttons at the same time for about 10 seconds until the apple Logo appears on the screen.

    I'm wondering if you have to Apples IDs or iTunes IDs and have puchased apps on both accounts.I have the same issue, and must supply both accounts' passwords in order to update apps. From my research here, there's no way to merge the two accouts. It is aggrivating, indeed.

  • How do I delete an old Apple ID and still update apps purchased when I was using it?

    How do I delete an old Apple ID and still update apps purchased when I was using it?

    One, you cannot delete an Apple ID, all you can do is stop using it and let it fade away.
    Two, apps are permanently tied to an aPple ID and can never be transferred to another.  You must use that same ID to update an app, or delete the app and repurchase/download under another ID.

  • Apple video app crashes when you delete a tv program

    Every time on all my iPads and iPhones iso7 video app crashes when I delete tv program's or movies.

    By "Main Website" I assume you mean via the developer's site.   If this is so, your purchase would need to be taken up directly with the developer.   With good will you may get a refund if the developer can be sure you'd also bought it from the App Store.
    But you say also "with the same ID" ... and you would not need an ID to purchase from the developer.
    A deleted purchase from the App Store can be reinstalled free so you should check your App Sore receipts to see if you have two (which I doubt).

  • I accidentally deleted my old fb app on my iPhone 3g. Now i cant download new fb app as it requires ios 4.3. How can i get old app that will work on my old phone. Any suggestions???  plz help!!!

    i accidentally deleted my old fb app on my iPhone 3g. Now i cant download new fb app as it requires ios 4.3. How can i get old app that will work on my old phone. Any suggestions??? plz help

    As already provided, if you don't have such in your iTunes library, on your computer, then there is no way to put it back on your phone. Apps are DRM protected, so even if you found a copy somewhere, you wouldn't be able to use it.

    I am trying to update my apps. When it prompts for my password my old deleted email address comes up. I don't even rember the password for that old email. How can I get to update my apps with my current email?

    All apps are tied to the Apple ID they are purchased with and is not transferable.
    Delete app and download app with your new Apple ID.
