Deleting duplicate data

Hi,
I have TABLE_A that acts as a look up table. It contains col1 and col2 with almost 50000 records. Previously the table has no unique constraint so there are lots of duplicate data.I've extracted the data by script below.
SELECT * FROM TABLE_A WHERE col1 IN (SELECT col1 FROM TABLE_A GROUP BY col1 HAVING COUNT(col1) > 1)
For your info heres my Table structure
TABLE_A
col1     col2
A1234     86
A1235     92
A1236     120
A1237     45
A1238     63
A1238     63 --> to be deleted
A1239      22
How can I delete those duplicate data ? Thanks
null

<s> SELECT * </s> DELETE FROM TABLE_A
WHERE col1 IN (SELECT col1 FROM TABLE_A
                         GROUP BY col1
                         HAVING COUNT(col1) > 1)
Doesnt work?

Oh , sorry..
You want to delete only one of them..
So,
<br>
<br>
DELETE FROM TABLE_A
WHERE rowid NOT IN (SELECT max(rowid) FROM TABLE_A
                         GROUP BY col1

  • Need help on How to delete duplicate data

    Hi All
    I need your help in finding the best way to delete duplicate data from a table.
    Table is like
    create table table1 (col1 varchar2(10), col2 varchar2(20), col3 varchar2(30));
    Insert into table1 ('ABC', 'DEF','FGH');
    Insert into table1 ('ABC', 'DEF','FGH');
    Insert into table1 ('ABC', 'DEF','FGH');
    Insert into table1 ('ABC', 'DEF','FGH');
    Now I want a sql statement which will delete the duplicate rows and leaves 1 row of that data in the table. ie.in the above example delete 3 rows of duplicate data and leave a row of that data in the table. My oracle version is 8i.
    Appreciate your help in advance.

    Either of these will work, the best approach will depend on how big the table is, and how many duplicates there are.
    SQL> SELECT * FROM table1;
    COL1       COL2                 COL3
    ABC        DEF                  FGH
    ABC        DEF                  FGH
    ABC        DEF                  FGH
    ABC        DEF                  FGH
    ABC        DEF                  IJK
    BCD        EFG                  HIJ
    BCD        EFG                  HIJ
    SQL> DELETE FROM table1 o
      2  WHERE rowid <> (SELECT MAX(rowid)
      3                  FROM table1 i
      4                  WHERE o.col1 = i.col1 and
      5                        o.col2 = i.col2 and
      6                        o.col3 = i.col3);
    4 rows deleted.
    SQL> SELECT * FROM table1;
    COL1       COL2                 COL3
    ABC        DEF                  FGH
    ABC        DEF                  IJK
    BCD        EFG                  HIJ
    SQL> ROLLBACK;
    Rollback complete.
    SQL> CREATE TABLE table1_tmp AS
      2  SELECT DISTINCT * FROM table1;
    Table created.
    SQL> TRUNCATE TABLE table1;
    Table truncated.
    SQL> INSERT INTO table1
      2  SELECT * FROM table1_tmp;
    3 rows created.
    SQL> SELECT * FROM table1;
    COL1       COL2                 COL3
    ABC        DEF                  FGH
    ABC        DEF                  IJK
    BCD        EFG                  HIJThere are other approaches as well (e.g. see the EXCEPTIONS INTO clause of the ALTER TABLE command), but these are the most straightforward.

    Hi Sudhir,
    In case you have edit access in your system carry out the following procedure:
    1. Create an export datasource on your cube.
    2. Now create the update rules to your cube using the datamart Infosource.
    3. In the update rules multiply all the key figures by
    -1.
    4. Now create an infopackage and give the request id of the duplicate request as selection.
    5. Load the datamart request and do the data validation.
    If you do not ahve edit access there is no other alternative you would have to delete all the data and reconstruct the requests that you need.

    Hi,
    <u><b>Deleting Adjacent Duplicate Entries</b></u>
    To delete adjacent duplicate entries use the following statement:
    DELETE ADJACENT DUPLICATE ENTRIES FROM <itab>
    [COMPARING <f1> <f2> ...
    |ALL FIELDS].
    The system deletes all adjacent duplicate entries from the internal table <itab>. Entries are
    duplicate if they fulfill one of the following compare criteria:
      Without the COMPARING addition, the contents of the key fields of the table must be
    identical in both lines.
      If you use the addition COMPARING <f1> <f2> ... the contents of the specified fields <f1>
    <f2> ... must be identical in both lines. You can also specify a field <fi> dynamically as
    the contents of a field <ni> in the form (<ni>). If <ni> is empty when the statement is
    executed, it is ignored. You can restrict the search to partial fields by
    specifying offset and length.
      If you use the addition COMPARING ALL FIELDS the contents of all fields of both lines
    must be identical.
    You can use this statement to delete all duplicate entries from an internal table if the table is
    sorted by the specified compare criterion.
    If at least one line is deleted, the system sets SY-SUBRC to 0, otherwise to 4.
    Examples
    DATA: BEGIN OF LINE,
    COL1 TYPE I,
    COL2 TYPE I,
    END OF LINE.
    DATA ITAB LIKE HASHED TABLE OF LINE WITH UNIQUE KEY COL1.
    DO 4 TIMES.
    LINE-COL1 = SY-INDEX.
    LINE-COL2 = SY-INDEX ** 2.
    INSERT LINE INTO TABLE ITAB.
    ENDDO.
    LINE-COL1 = 1.
    DELETE TABLE ITAB: FROM LINE,
    WITH TABLE KEY COL1 = 3.
    LOOP AT ITAB INTO LINE.
    WRITE: / LINE-COL1, LINE-COL2.
    ENDLOOP.
    The output is:
    2    4
    4   16
    The program fills a hashed table with a list of square numbers. The DELETE
    statement delete the lines from the table where the key field COL1 has the contents 1 or 3.

  • How to delete the duplicate data  from PSA Table

    Dear All,
    How to delete the duplicate data  from PSA Table, I have the purchase cube and I am getting the data from Item data source.
    In PSA table, I found the some cancellation records for that particular records quantity  would be negative for the same record value would be positive.
    Due to this reason the quantity is updated to target but the values would summarized and got  the summarized value  of all normal and cancellation .
    Please let me know the solution how to delete the data while updating to the target.
    Thanks
    Regards,
    Sai

    Hi,
    in deleting the records in PSA table difficult and how many you will the delete.
    you can achieve the different ways.
    1. creating the DSO maintain the some key fields it will overwrite the based on key fields.
    2. you can write the ABAP logic deleting the duplicate records at info package level check with the your ABAPer.
    3.you can restrict the cancellation records at query level.
    Thanks,
    Phani.

    How do I delete duplicate songs in my iTunes? I have hundreds and I don't want to delete them one by one. They were all added on the same date, so sorting by the date won't help.

    Hi, if this is in regards to your library simply open up itunes and do the following steps:
    Click File
    Scroll down to "show duplicates"
    A list will then appear of your duplicate song titles.
    Be sure to CAREFULLY review each song to make sure it is a duplicate ( as I have some music that is the same song but live, acoustic etc...)
    Proceed to manually delete each song from the list and leave alone any song that you wish to keep.
    Best of luck,

  • Delete Duplicate rows in Data Package based on selection

    Hello experts,
    I have the data coming from Oracle using DB_Connect. The data has duplicate order no. I need to delete the duplicate rows in the data package based selection before updating the data target.
    I am thinking of writing this in updaterule start routine. I would greatly appreciate any sample code on selective deletion of data package rows.
    Thanks a lot!
    Sri

    Nagesh,
    Thanks for your reply.
    Do I need write this in Update Start routine?
    Another thing the order number field is coming from source system. Currently we are not mapping/assingning to InfoObject. In other words we are not seding order no to data target.
    In my query can I write something like this...
    DELETE ADJACENT DUPLICATES FROM DATA_PACKAGE COMPARING DATA_Package-OrderNo
    Thanks a lot!

  • How to delete the duplicate data in between two distinct rows in SQL?

    Hi,
    I need to identify the duplicate data with two distinct rows. See my data structure below.
    NAME NAME_1 VALUE START_DATE END_DATE FLAG INDEX
    SUR SE 275 13/12/2005 31/12/2010 B 1
    SUR SE 375 A 1
    SUR SE 475 A 1
    SUR SE 275 13/12/2005 31/12/2010 B 2
    SUR SE 375 A 2
    SUR SE 475 A 2
    SUR SE 175 13/12/2006 31/12/2010 B 3
    SUR SE 375 A 3
    SUR SE 475 A 3
    This is my sample data. Here data are duplicate with different index columns. INDEX 1 and 2 contains same group of combination. So i need to identify any one of duplicate combination(i.e INDEX 1 or 2). Can anyone come up with exact solution?
    Thanks

    Try this:
    with test_table as
    (select 'SUR' NAME, 'SE' NAME_1, 275 VALUE, '13/12/2005' START_DATE, '31/12/2010' END_DATE, 'B' FLAG, 1 IND from dual union all
    select 'SUR', 'SE', 375, null, null, 'A', 1 from dual union all
    select 'SUR', 'SE', 475, null, null, 'A', 1 from dual union all
    select 'SUR', 'SE', 275, '13/12/2005' ,'31/12/2010' ,'B', 2 from dual union all
    select 'SUR', 'SE', 375, null, null, 'A', 2 from dual union all
    select 'SUR', 'SE', 475, null, null, 'A', 2 from dual union all
    select 'SUR', 'SE', 175, '13/12/2006', '31/12/2010', 'B', 3 from dual union all
    select 'SUR', 'SE', 375, null, null, 'A', 3 from dual union all
    select 'SUR', 'SE', 475, null, null, 'A', 3 from dual )
    select t.*,
           CASE WHEN START_DATE IS NULL THEN
             first_value(row_number) OVER (PARTITION BY NAME, NAME_1, IND ORDER BY START_DATE)
           ELSE
             row_number
           END row_number
    from (
    SELECT t.*,
           CASE WHEN START_DATE IS NOT NULL THEN
             row_number() over(PARTITION BY NAME, NAME_1,VALUE, START_DATE, END_DATE, FLAG
                               ORDER BY IND)
           END row_number
      FROM test_table t) t
    order by IND, start_dateNote that this is only checking for diferences in the rows where start_date is not null. Do you want to also check if the records where start_date is null it there are differences? If so you can do this:
    with test_table as
    (select 'SUR' NAME, 'SE' NAME_1, 275 VALUE, '13/12/2005' START_DATE, '31/12/2010' END_DATE, 'B' FLAG, 1 IND from dual union all
    select 'SUR', 'SE', 375, null, null, 'A', 1 from dual union all
    select 'SUR', 'SE', 475, null, null, 'A', 1 from dual union all
    select 'SUR', 'SE', 275, '13/12/2005' ,'31/12/2010' ,'B', 2 from dual union all
    select 'SUR', 'SE', 375, null, null, 'A', 2 from dual union all
    select 'SUR', 'SE', 475, null, null, 'A', 2 from dual union all
    select 'SUR', 'SE', 175, '13/12/2006', '31/12/2010', 'B', 3 from dual union all
    select 'SUR', 'SE', 375, null, null, 'A', 3 from dual union all
    select 'SUR', 'SE', 475, null, null, 'A', 3 from dual )
    SELECT t.*,
           MIN(row_number) OVER(PARTITION BY NAME, NAME_1, IND) MIN
      FROM (SELECT t.*,
                   row_number() over(PARTITION BY NAME, NAME_1, VALUE,
                                                  START_DATE, END_DATE, FLAG
                                         ORDER BY IND) row_number
              FROM test_table t) t

  • DTP Error: Duplicate data record detected

    Hi experts,
    I have a problem with loading data from DataSource to standart DSO.
    In DS there are master data attr. which have a key  containing id_field.
    In End routine I make some operations which multiple lines in result package and fill new date field - defined in DSO ( and also in result_package definition )
    I.E.
    Result_package before End routine:
    __ Id_field ____ attra1 ____  attr_b  ...___   attr_x ____ date_field
       ____1________ a1______ b1_________ x1
       ____2________ a2______ b2_________ x2
    Result_package after End routine:
    __ Id_field ____ attra1 ____  attr_b  ..___   attr_x ____ date_field
       ____1________ a1______ b1_________ x1______d1
       ____2________ a1______ b1_________ x1______d2
       ____3________ a2______ b2_________ x2______d1
       ____4________ a2______ b2_________ x2______d2
    The  date_field (date type)  is in a key fields in DSO
    When I execute DTP I have an error in section Update to DataStore Object: "Duplicate data record detected "
    "During loading, there was a key violation. You tried to save more than one data record with the same semantic key."
    As I know the result_package key contains all fields except fields type i, p, f.
    In simulate mode (debuging) everything is correct and the status is green.
    In DSO I have uncheched checkbox "Unique Data Records"
    Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance.
    MG

    Hi,
          In the end routine, try giving
    DELETE ADJACENT DUPLICATES FROM RESULT_PACKAGE COMPARING  XXX  YYY.
    Here XXX and YYY are keys so that you can eliminate the extra duplicate record.
    Or you can even try giving
        SORT itab_XXX BY field1 field2  field3 ASCENDING.
        DELETE ADJACENT DUPLICATES FROM itab_XXX COMPARING field1 field2  field3.
    this can be given before you loop your internal table (in case you are using internal table and loops)  itab_xxx is the internal table.
    field1, field2 and field 3 may vary depending on your requirement.
    By using the above lines, you can get rid of duplicates coming through the end routine.
    Regards
    Sunil

  • "You are no longer logged into your profile" - So....Palm just decides to delete my data???

    I was told to post this over in this Palm forum also so hopefully SOMEONE from Palm/HP will address this... I could not find a bug report area but perhaps someone can log this.
    So after months of (mostly) happily using a Pre Plus, Wednesday I get the message that I am no longer logged into my profile, and do I want to reboot or erase my data??!! I googled, and yup, it's an issue....So I reboot...same options, this reboot, it starts and asks me if I want English as my language. Woops!!! No data!
    Now of course palm profile does not backup anything on my phone really....I sync direct to Exhange and use Chapura sync to a desktop Outlook PST file. So I spend the next 5 hours restoring and syncing. Just crazy.  Why can't it just say that you are not currently logged in, we will try again in an hour??  And what right does palm have to delete MY data that the profile does not even backup???  My exchange and chapura sync'ed data?  Sure, I can re-sync with both of those. But my Chapura only if I am on the same wi-fi network as the local PC.  So what does that mean if I am traveling?  And re-syncing a huge volume of contacts takes forever.  And you lose all the linked contacts also!
    So I call the carrier and Palm. The carrier says...."well if your phone originally was under another phone number and you changed it as part of an upgrade, that can cause it." Huh? This can affect me months later I say??? My phone number upgrade change was done BEFORE I even turned on the phone. Palm does not even know about that first number!
    So I called Palm.  The guy says it can happen if 2 people use the same e-mail or credit card in their palm profile. Now since it won't even allow you to setup the same e-mail twice, I'd like to know how THAT would happen.  No one on my plan uses the same card.
    So the question is. We know this happens sometimes. Is there any source with credibility that really knows WHY this happens??? And does any setting reduce the likelihood of it happening again?  And why can't Palm make the results less debilating?  There is NO REASON that it needs to delete your data.  This is crazy.
    Also, other than my few purchased apps, none of my critical data is even backed up by the Palm Profile!!! I still had to re-create all my POP3 accounts, change all my preferences back, re-sync with Exchange, re-sync with Chapura, and then re-marry all the contact duplicates that Synergy did not handle right. So what's the worth?
    Can the Palm Profile/backup  be turned off? Does changing the palm profile in the apps perferences setting from "submit password every 4 hours" (whatever that means) to only at purchase help??
    Do you have any other options when you get that reboot r erase prompt? Pull the battery without answering the prompt perhaps???????
    If I am on the road and this happened, I would be without half my contacts until I returned which is unacceptable. This is very disappointing. I cannot believe the default action is not "let's TRY AGAIN", and not, "hey, let's erase all of this user's data on him"!!!
    If this happens one or two more times, I have had it.  I will be looking at another OS and phone after having Palm phones and organizers for the last 10 years or so.  This is unacceptable.
    BJB

    Thanks for the reply.  Nowhere in here do I get the sense that Palm even thinks this is a problem or are going to work on fixing it.  It implies Palm thinks it is okay and the problem is me, the user, the customer, because I do not want my data resided on Palm's servers or Google's servers.  Does Palm understand this is an issue whether my data is on my home PC or in the cloud and in Palm Profile???  The issue is not how I choose to store just one of my calendars and contact lists (out of 3).  The issue is a bug in the Palm profile system.
    The first point is this.... Regardless of HOW this happens, Palm should not immediately erase all of my data!!!!  Let's say I DID sync all my data to Palm Profile.  I STILL would not want to have to re-download everything just because of some glitch with your backup servers, the carrier's network, or my phone!!!  Go look at some pre forums.  You will see many people that DO sync all of their data to their profile, and they are STILL upset with this Palm BUG.  If security is the concern, how about asking for a password first vs. just asking whether I want to reboot or erase all data?  If it is really me, I would know the password!  Your answer seems to imply that what is happening is OKAY. It is NOT okay whether I sync everything to Palm profile or not!
    Further, even if all my data WAS backed up to Palm Profile, you still lose all preferences, all manually matched synergy contacts, etc.... etc... Again, I would still be very upset if all my data was erased even if EVERYTHING was backed up to Palm profile.  DON'T ERASE MY DATA!!!
    I have no problem re-synching my exchange e-mail after a problem.  It works from the road, etc.  However after 10 years, Palm decided to not suport the syncing of home PC's with the Pre.  An unfortunate decision as Palm was a pioneer in this.  You talk about security....Perhaps some of us do not want our data stored on Palm servers or google servers!!! Yes, indeed, in the event of a crash I cannot restore from the road. I can live with this if the crash was from a hardware or software issue.  But it is NOT OKAY if it is caused by Palm just because of some system glitch.  Since you are not restoring my home PC data anyway, why erase it?
    You talk about being logged out of your profile.  My phone was just used, and it was sitting on my desk.  Just sitting there. And then it popped up that "I was no longer logged into my profile".   What causes this?  Why does it not give me a chance to re-login?  How come after the erase of data and reboot I was then magically "logged in" and it was working?  Did the person that was trying to steal my non-existent data in my palm profile stop trying?
    So are you telling me that someone was trying to use my phone SIM, on a pre plus, with my e-mail, and had my password....and trying to login, and that is why I got the message?  And then magically right after I rebooted, they stopped trying and all was okay???
    I do not believe that is the case.  And again, if it is, ask for my password, or a security question, or SOMETHING to confirm that it is me.  And a simple google search will tell Palm/HP that this is a problem many of us have had.  If I have it consistently, as I said, a 10 year customer is gone.
    BJB
    PS.  A reply that said:  "Palm is aware of this problem and will correct it with the next software update" would be a lot more comforting.

  • How to delete duplicate datasets in iOS health app?

    I synchronize my POLAR activity tracker with my iPhone to collect and visualize the number of steps in the Health app. In most cases it works perfect, but sometimes the data are completely to high. So I have days with more than 600.000 steps, but the list of data points shows thousends of duplicate entries.
    Is there an easy way to remove the duplicate data?

    Hi Tidbits,
    I ended up going to Best Buy, where I got my LG G3 Verizon phone. The Tech tried everything to correct the duplication, but could not find how to do it. He deleted everything, and went back to factory settings. Darn if the duplicates didn't come back.
    He went to my Verizon account, and went to the Verizon Cloud. Clicked on Contacts, and there were all the duplicate contacts. He deleted the duplications, leaving the original for each contact. BINGO the problem was solved.
    I am using the Standard Messaging instead of Verizon messaging Plus. The Tech said that if I had been using Using Verizon Messaging Plus this may not of happened. I just down want the added cost of Messaging Plus.
    Thanks for the response.

  • How to delete duplicate records in all tables of the database

    I would like to be able to delete all duplicate records in all the tables of the database. Many of the tables have LONG columns.
    Thanks.

    Hello
    To delete duplicates from an individual table you can use a construct like:
    DELETE FROM
        table_a del_tab
    WHERE
        del_tab.ROWID <> (SELECT
                                MAX(dups_tab.ROWID)
                          FROM
                                table_a dups_tab
                          WHERE
                                dups_tab.col1 = del_tab.col1
                          AND
                                dups_tab.col2 = del_tab.col2
                          )You can then apply this to any table you want. The only differences will be the columns that you join on in the sub query. If you want to look for duplicated data in the long columns themselves, I'm pretty sure you're going to need to do some PL/SQL coding or maybe convert them to blobs or something.

    Hi Rob,
    Just trying to chip in little bit!
    Created Table As follows same as you, only two rows with duplicatem user, datein, and timein:
    create table table1
    as
    select '08:20:00' timein, date '2007-09-01' datein, '0001' locationin, 'U01' useridin, 1 status from dual union all
    select '08:10:30', date '2007-09-01', '0004', 'U01', 1 from dual union all
    select '07:20:00', date '2007-09-01', '0006', 'U01', 1 from dual union all
    select '08:14:00', date '2007-09-01', '0001', 'U02', 1 from dual union all
    select '06:10:30', date '2007-09-01', '0004', 'U02', 1 from dual union all
    select '06:10:30', date '2007-09-01', '0001', 'U02', 1 from dual
    If I run your delete statement result row will be as follows:
    SQL> select * from table1;
    TIMEIN DATEIN LOCA USE STATUS
    07:20:00 01-SEP-07 0006 U01 1
    06:10:30 01-SEP-07 0004 U02 1
    06:10:30 01-SEP-07 0001 U02 1
    Here problem is that its not able to delete duplicate rows having same timein and timeout.
    So I changed you query as follows:
    DELETE FROM tab1
    WHERE rowid NOT IN (
         SELECT     MIN(rowid)
         FROM     tab1
         WHERE     (UseridIn, TO_DATE(TO_CHAR(DateIn,'YYYYMMDD') || TimeIn,'YYYYMMDDHH24:MI:SS')) IN
              (     SELECT     UseridIn, MIN(TO_DATE(TO_CHAR(DateIn,'YYYYMMDD') || timein,'YYYYMMDDHH24:MI:SS'))
                   FROM     tab1
                   GROUP BY UseridIn)
         GROUP BY UseridIn
    If I run your delete statement with little bit of changes, the result row was as follows:
    SQL> select * from table1;
    TIMEIN DATEIN LOCA USE STATUS
    07:20:00 01-SEP-07 0006 U01 1
    06:10:30 01-SEP-07 0004 U02 1

  • How to delete duplicate entries in match code

    I want to delete duplicate entries in match code.

    If you go down the search exit route, using function module F4_IF_SHLP_EXAMPLE or function module F4_IF_SHLP_EXIT as a template you want it where callcontrol-step = 'DISP'.  You would sort the table: SORT RECORD_TAB BY STRING and then delete adjacent duplicates. If this does not wok because of the fields you have in your search help, you will need to select the data into another internal table and match the relevant entries from your internal table  with the relevant position in field STRING of RECORD_TAB.  The positions in STRING will be as per the order of the parameters  you have defined in the search help.
    Hope this helps.
