Deleting photostream photos

So I have quite a backlog of junk photos saved on my phone.  I have been in the process of deleting them today, but they do not seem to delete from my photostream as well.  Do I have to delete camera roll and photostream photos seperately, even though my photostream photos are sourced from my camera roll?

Yes, you have to delete them separately.  Deleting them from one will not delete them from the other.  To speed things up, tap Edit, tap all the photos you want to delete, then tap Delete.

Just look at the many other threads on this subject.  See the 'More Like This' box on the right hand side?
Basically, you can only delete all or none.  To delete all, reset your Photostream on iCloud.com and switch off PS on your device.
You can temporarily remove the photos by switching off PS on your device, but when you switch it back on, the photos will return unless you reset as previously mentioned.

If it was in the Photo Stream there would still be a copy of it in the Camera Roll
If not then check the 2nd link, you might be using that.

There is a slight chance that those images may be cached in icloud backup, if they were in camera roll or library OP would not be here would he, T.

  • Deleted photostream photos keep reappearing in photo stream.

If I delete a photo from my photostream must both my iPhones be connected to the Internet at time of deletion for it to completely delete? I've deleted a few photos from photostream and they keep reappearing. Photos were removed from camera roll.

    Yes, using Wi-Fi.

  • Help finding deleting Photostream photos!!

A few weeks ago I manually deleted most of my Photostream on my iPhone 5S from the late spring/summer so I could make room on my phone for ios8...I thought a copy of the photos in my Photostream would be saved in the cloud. Big mistake. That's not how Photostream works I guess. My photos were permanently deleted from my Photostream everywhere. I have since had to completely restore my phone due to the problems with the 8.01 ios update. Is it possible to go back and find deleted photos from the past?
Note: In my iphoto on my macbook, I used to have a folder for each month of photostream photos (like June 2014 Photosteam, etc.) that automatically synced. Now, because I deleted my Photostream photos, they are no longer there. At some point in time these photos WERE on my camera roll but I deleted them as well because I thought they were in the photo stream...
Anyway, I am clearly confused and want to get my photos back! HELP!!! Please!!!!

Once you delete, and delete from PhotoStream without saving to a non-PhotoStream album, the photos are gone and not recoverable.  Before deleting from PhotoStream, or at least monthly for that matter, it best to save everything to a separate album or folder.  That protects the content as PhotoStream is volatile storage and will be subject not only to your deleting but also iCloud delete-by-rules based on quantity and age of the contents.
Not great news for you but there just isn't anything to do when deletion has been done across the board.

  • Deleting photostream photos from Mac within iPhoto does not remove photos from all devices.

I have photostream activated on my iPhone 5s (iOS 8.1) to backup all my photos to iCloud. This works great! When I open iPhoto, the stream is automatically updated and my photos appear. If I also delete a photo from my iPhone, the stream is once again updated and the photo disappears.
However, if I delete the photo via iPhoto via the Photostream tab on my Mac, the photostream is not updated and the photo remains on my iPhone, as well as online via icloud.com. i.e it works one way, but not the other.
    Am I doing something wrong?

When you delete a photo from "My Photo Stream" in the iCloud section in iPhoto on your Mac, it will be removed from "My Photo Stream" in iCloud, and should be removed from the Photo Stream on all devices. However, the photos already downloaded to the devices from My Photo Stream will not be deleted. If automatic download is enabled on your iPhone, the photos will stay on your iPhone,

My friend has over 2,000 photos on her iphone and it only used 1.7 GB of space and I know I had at one point over 3,000 photos on my phone and still had space left for more.
    Any tips are greatly appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Melissa.

When you open your camera app, does it say "HDR on" at the top?
HDR photos are better quality but take up much more space.
Also, go to Settings>photos and camera.  Scroll down to "keep normal photo".  Is it on?  This feature saves a normal copy and an HDR copy of every photo you take.
I bet your friend has this feature turned off along with the HDR as well.

  • HT201077 Is it possible to retrieve photos that have been photostreamed thru icloud to my mac from my daughter in Europe who has deleted 1000 photos from her ipad that I didn't know I had to save ?

Is it possible to retrieve 1000 photos that have been photostreamed thru to my mac from my daughter in Europe but not saved on my mac.  These same photos have been deleted from my daughters ipad in Europe ?

If the photos have been deleted from Photo Stream, then they are gone unless they have been saved elsewhere. Are they not in the Camera Roll of the iOS device they were taken on?
Photo Stream is not a permanent storage solution. It stores up to the last 1000 photos taken on an iOS device for a maximum of 30 days.

  • ICloud photostream photos not deleting from all devices

how can i delete my photos from my icloud photostream on  EVERY device on the cloud account. I
have deleted them but they still can see them.      My photostream is off, however i want to prevent my parents seeing them on their photostreams on our iCloud account. Thanks for any help

It depends on the type of email account you are using, not on iCloud.  If you are using an IMAP or exchange account, when you delete from one device, it is deleted from all devices.  If you are using a POP (POP3) account, it won't.  (iCloud email, Gmail and Yahoo are all IMAP accounts.)

  • Is there anyway i can delete a photo from camera roll in photostream?

I have a photo on camera roll that I took of my dying father ... I have transferred to my photos on my computer but quite honestly I don't always want to be seeing it on my cameral...how can I delete?

Individual photos cannot be deleted from your Photo Stream. You can, however, delete all the photos in your Photo Stream by clicking the Reset Photo Stream button in your account at icloud.com. The Reset Photo Stream button will instantly delete all Photo Stream photos stored in iCloud, but it will not remove any Photo Stream photos that have already been pushed to your devices.

  • HT204022 My Photostream photos are not deleted on one device

When I open Photo stream on my iPhone it has 1000+ photos. These were added automatically by iPhoto - but since they were added there they were deleted (from Photo stream) in iPhoto as well. But those 1000+ pics still apprear in Photo stream on my phone.

In the Event mode use the View ➙ Sort ➙ By Date ➙ Decending menu option.  Then the latest imports will be near the top of the Event window (depending on when the photos were taken of course).
Or Control-Click on one of the thumbnails in the Last Import album and select Show Event from the contextual menu:

  • How to delete all photos in photo stream on iDevices??

I've been trying to do this for a long time. I looked at similar questions and one answer said to take 1000 photos and put them in photo stream. I tried to put all 1000 photos into photo stream, but the one time that I wanted my photos in photo stream, it didn't work! Are there any other ways to delete all photos in photo stream or just plain delete photo stream?? Please help! Sorry, I'm still relatively new to Apple!

Go to the iCloud website and click on your name and then advanced. Hit the reset photostream. This will delete the photos there.
Go to your devices and remove the photos in the photostream folder in iPhoto.

  • How do i delete certain photos from an album on my ipad?

how do i delete photos from my ipad?

The only photos you can delete from the iPad directly are the photos in your Camera Roll.  To do that, select the photo and tap Delete.
Other photos, for example in an album or in Photostream, cannot be deleted directly from the iPad.  For photo albums, you have to delete the photos from your computer.  For Photostream, you cannot delete photos individually... you have to delete the entire stream.
