Deleting Planning Application in 9.3.1?

Trying to delete a planning application in 9.3.1. I try both methods that is stated in the help topic. I did both in workspace and planning web (logon to another planning app to delete the one i want to delete). In workspace i did Navigate->Administer-> classic application administration->planning administration. in planning web i logon to another planning app did Administration->Delete Application. I selected the application and delete application. I get a application successfully deleted.
But when i go back on planning web i see the application in the drop down list when i first logon. and this is present in workspace when i do Navigate->Administer-> classic application administration->planning administration. giving me a list of existing planning application.
I try to delete the datasource for this planning application but i am unable since it still associate to this planning application that i'm trying to delete. is there a step that i'm missing? I just want to completely delete this planning application and it's association to anything to it.
robert

Hi,
Sounds like you are doing everything correctly, you may have to remove it manually.
To do this.
1.Delete the application from AAS if it still exists.
2.Stop planning server
3.Go into the planning system database (the database you created when you first configured planning)
4.In the table :- HSPSYS_APPLICATION delete the record which relates to your planning, take a note of the app_id
5.In the table :- HSPSYS_APP_CLUSTER_DTL delete the record with the app_id from step 4.
6.In the table :- HSPSYS_PROPERTIES delete the records with property_id that is the same as the app_id from step 4.
7.In the table :- HSPSYS_DATASOURCE modify the app_id field the id you will have noted in step 4 and change the value to -1
8.Restart Planning
You application should of been removed from the dropdown, now you can use the same datasource again or you can delete the datasource.
Cheers

  • Unable to delete planning application

    Hi,
    Im trying to delete an application through the classic planning application administration. When the normal delete didnt work, I deleted entries from hspsys_application and hspsys_datasource and restarted the Planning service. The actual problem was that someone created both datasources on the same schema and I wanted to start from scratch.
    Even after restarting the service the applications and the datasources remain in planning and when I try to delete from classic administration it says check log for details.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks.

    Those tables define the data sources, when the planning application server is started it reads the tables to find out the datasource connection information.
    If you have deleted the information and restarted ther service then I am not sure how it is reading them if they don't exist unless you have the wrong planning system database.
    Cheers

  • Unable to delete Planning application created through EPMA

    Hi friends,
    Iam unable to delete the planning application created through EPMA.Tried logging in as admin still its not allowing.
    I tried in application view-> right click and delete.it will ask for all related info and when I say 'delete', the status is aborted.
    Can anyone tell whether we can delete an application created through EPMA. or is there a way to delete in backend.
    Regards.

    Hi,
    You could try and find more information from the logs, first change the level of logging for EPMA, it is set as standard to INFO and it is probably best changed to DEBUG.
    To do this
    Stop EPMA
    Go to the deployed Web application directory.
    For Tomcat, this is C:\Hyperion\deployments\Tomcat5\EPMAWebTier\webapps\awb\WEB-INF\conf.
    Open AWBLog4j.properties.
    Modify this line:
    log4j.logger.com.hyperion.awb=ERROR,logfile, stdout to log4j.logger.com.hyperion.awb=DEBUG ,logfile, stdout
    RESTART EPMA
    Then try and delete again and check to see if the logs have further information.
    Cheers

  • Deleting members from Planning application

    Hi everyone,
    I need to delete about 600 members from a planning application. I dont want to clean up the load file and do the reaload once again. Is there a way I can delete load a file with just 600 members and they get deleted from the outline?

    Thanks John for sharing your opinion. One of the senior consultants helped me out with this. The solution was fairly simple -
    All the 600 members were children of different parents. So it was difficult to cherry-pick all of them. What we did is, we created a load file with 600 members (to be deleted from outline). We put those 600 members under one parent; somewhat like this
    TempParent    member1*
    TempParent    member2*
    +.+
    +.+
    TempParent    member600*
    Once I loaded this file to through load utility, it grabbed all those 600 members from their previous positions and placed them under TempParent*. Then I deleted TempParent.
    Although I would like to know more about the solution you suggested. Is there an example on web that you can refer me to ??

  • How can we delete a dimension from the classic planning applications

    Hi Friends,
    I am trying to delete a dimension from the planning classic application but i am unable to find out the delete option to delete a dimension. I created the dimension from the Administration -->dimensions --> Add dimension.
    If we want to delete a dimension how we can delete that dimension, I heard meta data is stored in the RDBMS so that why if we want delete dimension we need to delete in RDBMS so please tell me the location in RDBMS to delete dimension. i am using sql is RDBMS.
    Thanks in advance......

    As John mentioned, it is not supported and advisiable to delete a dimension from Planning application. but yes you can take a chance with some risk if you need to do so.. this opertaion is tested in 9.2 but i never tried in EPM V11.
    You will need to delete all the children first, then the dimension.
    BE SURE YOU HAVE A BACKUP OF YOUR APPLICATION BEFOREATTEMPTING THIS PROCEDURE.
    You will need to delete all the children first, then the dimension.
    If you have the dimension in forms, you may also need to (after step 5) go into the hsp_formobj_def_mbr table and delete all references of that object ID. Then delete the dim id in thehsp_form_layout table. Recycle services of Planning.
    Procedure: If you create a custom dimension in planning and wish to delete it, here is how you might remove it from SQL manually.
    it is recommended that only someone familiar with relational databases attempt this.The following assumptions are being made about the dimension: No forms have any references to thedimension. Any and all attribute dimensions have been removed from the dimension. Any and all members have been removed from the dimension. All security access has been removed from dimension. Any Alias associated with the dimension has been removed.
    1. Open the Enterprise Manager for SQL server
    2. Open the database that has your planning application
    3. Open the table HSP_OBJECT
    4. You need to find the row that has the dimension name you want to delete:
    5. Take note of the OBJECT_ID in my example it is50051, don't delete it yet.
    6. Open the table HSP_MEMBER
    7. Find and delete any rows that have a MEMBER_ID equal to the OBJECT_ID from step 5.
    8. Close the Table HSP_MEMBER
    9. Open the table HSP_MRU_MEMBERS.
    10. Find and delete any rows that have a DIM_ID equal to the OBJECT_ID from step 5.
    11. Close the table HSP_MRU_MEMBERS.
    12. Open the table HSP_DIMENSION
    13. Find and delete any rows that have a DIM_ID equal to the OBJECT_ID from step 5.
    14. Close the table HSP_DIMENSION
    15. Also delete it's reference from the HSP_UNIQUE_NAMES table.
    16. Delete the row in the HSP_OBJECT table that you found in step 4.
    17. Close the HSP_OBJECT table.
    18. Open Essbase Application Manager for the application and remove the dimension from the necessary Essbase outlines
    19. Restart the application server.
    good luck!!!

  • Urgent help needed in creation of planning application

    Hi,
    Iam new to planning. I installed planning and configured(Created planning instance, Datasource). When i login into workspace and want to create new planning application. The wizard opens correctly. After giving application name, calender,currency type, Plan type, etc... when i click finish to create a new planning application, it says *"An error occured while processing this page. Check the log for detail".* But i observed one thing the application was created in Essbase without Databases and outline. So can anyone explain me wats the exact prob. where I can see the Log details. Help me.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
    Databases will not be created until you created until you refresh to essbase from within planning, you are not up to that stage yet. Only an essbase application will be created.
    What I suggest you do, is delete the essbase application. Then run planning from the start menu and not as a service, this will mean you will get any error messages displayed in the window.
    Then try and perform the application creation again and see what errors are produced.
    Cheers

  • Planning Application stuck in limbo

    Essbase/Planning 9.3.1.
    When administering the application view in EPMA, I have 1 application that validates properly, but the "Deploy" option stays grayed out. (Long story, must be a broken link somewhere from oracle data backups and restores). I don't have the option to "Delete" the application either.
    I did a "Duplicate", and the copy of it will Validate, Deploy, Delete, etc.
    How can I rename these applications so the one that will deploy is the name that I need it to be?
    Is it as simple as renaming the C_APPLICATIONA_NAME element in the DS_APPLICATION table?
    Any other ideas?
    TIA,
    Robert

    Alp,
    The epma table deletes worked as you stated. the hyp_plng deletes however are giving me foreign key violations. Are there other deletes that need to occur?

  • Error creating a new Hyperion Planning Application

    Hi Everybody,
    I'm trying to create a new application in Hyperion 9, but I have a problem because when I configure the application in the wizard, that show me an error "An error ocurred while processing this page. Check the log for details".
    When I review EAS I see the application but database is not create and the application in Planning doesn't appear.
    I tried checking logs but I never found something (No error in the app server or Logs of application).
    The steps that I followed:
    1. Create a new schema.
    2. Configure Datasource with new schema.
    3. Configure App with wizard.
    Regards.

    First of all you will only see the Application in EAS, the databases are not created until you create them from within planning.
    What I suggest is you delete the application in EAS otherwise it will keep failing, then run planning in the foreground and not as a service, so start it up from the start menu, this way an errors will be outputted to the command window.
    Then try again creating an application.
    Cheers

  • How to remove duplicate members in Hyperion planning Application.

    Hi,
    I have the 11.1.2.1 Planning Application installed on Windows OS and I have the employee dimension in it with many duplicate Employee members.Now this time I just wanted to remove those duplicte members to make sure that there is no redundency/any duplicate employee exist in Employee Dimension and moreover it is help us to increasing the performence of the application.
    So can you please advise how can I achieve this.
    Thanks in Advance.

    Do you mean you have shared members in the hierarchy and you want to remove them, anyway one way is to export the dimension, clean the export file, then import it back it in but drop all the members from the dim first.
    or maybe the delete shared members util - http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E40248_01/epm.1112/planning_admin/ch12s07s05.html

  • Unable to see the planning applications

    Hi All,
    I'm using hyperion 11.1.2. I've created a planning application in workspace. Now if i'm using the URL http://localhost:8300/HyperionPlanning, i'm unable to see any planning applications in the drop down ? where as i'm able to access applications in workspace. Do i need to make any settings to see the applications using this URL ? Pls. advice
    Thanks,
    PVR

    As it looks like you only need the default cluster I would start up the configurator, select planning, manage planning clusters.
    Choose "Re-Associate Cluster and Application", select default and choose an application, apply, repeat this for all the planning applications.
    Choose Activate Cluster, select default.
    Then you can delete the cluster that is not needed.
    Cheers

  • Planning Application - Supporting Details

    Hi,
    We deleted around 4000 members from our planning application and later realised that the few members have budget values tagged to them and also supporting details are included for few of the members. Now we would like to bring back those members to our application. Could you please suggest the best method to bring back those members and the associated supporting details. We donot want to restore the entire the entire application. Is there a way to restore only that particular dimension and its members and the supporting details associated with them. If yes, could anyone of you let me know the process. Our relational DB is SQL 2005.
    Request your help for the closure
    Thanks,

    Assuming you have a backup of your SQL database somewhere (this would be the Planning repository), the following code will extract Supporting Detail:
    Supporting Detail
    SELECT
         "Plan Type" = P.TYPE_NAME,
         "Scenario" = O1.OBJECT_NAME,
         "Account" = O2.OBJECT_NAME,
         "Entity" = O3.OBJECT_NAME,
         "Month" = O4.OBJECT_NAME,
         "Version" = O5.OBJECT_NAME,
         "Year" = O6.OBJECT_NAME,
         "Activities" = O7.OBJECT_NAME,
         "Employee" = O8.OBJECT_NAME,
         "Value" = I.VALUE,
         "Position" = I.POSITION,
         "Generation" = I.GENERATION,
         "Operator" = I.OPERATOR,
         "SD" = I.LABEL
    FROM HSP_COLUMN_DETAIL D
         INNER JOIN HSP_PLAN_TYPE P
              ON D.PLAN_TYPE = P.PLAN_TYPE
         INNER JOIN HSP_COLUMN_DETAIL_ITEM I
              ON D.DETAIL_ID = I.DETAIL_ID
         INNER JOIN HSP_OBJECT O1
              ON D.DIM1 = O1.OBJECT_ID
         INNER JOIN HSP_OBJECT O2
              ON D.DIM2 = O2.OBJECT_ID
         INNER JOIN HSP_OBJECT O3
              ON D.DIM3 = O3.OBJECT_ID
         INNER JOIN HSP_OBJECT O4
              ON D.DIM4 = O4.OBJECT_ID
         INNER JOIN HSP_OBJECT O5
              ON D.DIM5 = O5.OBJECT_ID
         INNER JOIN HSP_OBJECT O6
              ON D.DIM6 = O6.OBJECT_ID
         LEFT OUTER JOIN HSP_OBJECT O7
              ON D.DIM7 = O7.OBJECT_ID
         LEFT OUTER JOIN HSP_OBJECT O8
              ON D.DIM8 = O8.OBJECT_IDYou'll want to modify it a bit to get it to work with your dimensions -- this is from an old project of mine.
    I have never tried to write Supporting Detail back in -- I know it has been done, just not by me. I would tread very carefully and only do it on a test database and be really, really, really sure you've got everything working just so. You could easily blow up your data.
    Another approach might be to restore that Planning app backup (making sure you made a backup of the current app), and then use LCM to export out Supporting detail, and then suck it back into the app that no longer has it.
    ^^^I like that idea a lot more even if it is a bit more tedious.
    With either approach, you are going to have to sync the Essbase data to the SD data -- hopefully you have a good Essbase backup as well.

  • Migrate planning application without migrating Provisioning information

    Hi,
    Is it possible to migrate just Planning application and other Hyperion objects without provisioning information. which we can assign as per new requirement.
    will it work or need to migrate provisioning information first then we can change later as per our requirement.
    This time MSAD Provider should connect with different host.
    Please advice.

    I understand that planning application contain provisioning information of Planning application in shared services and should be migrated along with Planning.
    My question was:
    Is it possible to migrate planning application only and then i should able to either re provisioning everything from scratch for migrated planning as we had bad experience with existing provisioning.
    though i have seen some option of update/delete in CSSImport (importexport.properties)
    please advice.

  • How to reference a Planning Application in Workspace

    Hello,
    I've developped several Planning applications.
    But when I open workspace / Applications / Planning, (with an admin user)
    I only see one Planning application. So I want to know how to reference a Planning application in Workspace ??
    Thanks for your help
    Best regards

    Some details :
    My Planning applications seems to works correctly. Essbase is Okay. Shared services is okay too but the Workspace is out (and with it Financial Reporting Studio).
    Before that problem, In the configurator, I've deleted all Planning clusters except one (Default). I've selected Re-associate Clusters and Applications and I've successfully re-Associate all Planning Application to Default Cluster. Then I've Activated Cluster Default.
    But Anyway, Since I've deleted Planning Clusters my Workspace doesn't work anymore.
    I've a doubt: I've tried to redeploy Workspace (Configurator / Hyperion Foundation / Workspace / Deploy to Application Server and Configure web Server.
    It doesn't work because it says that Workspace already exists :p.
    Anyway I'm surprised about something : To access Workspace we use the 19000 port but In Configuration we I try to deploy it I see it is on the 45000 port. If I click on advanced / Setup a little window open "Set up Logical Address". And it is writtend Edit Default Cluster : gl-dev-budget : 45000 meanwhile when (still in Configurator) I open Planning / Manage Planning Cluster the server port is 8300 ??
    Is someone can helps me ?
    Thanks
    Best regards
