Deleting preceding content without effecting what follows

Tricky to explain this but I'll try.
I have a document with several pdfs placed on pages 1,2,3,4. The rest of the document from page 5 onwards is the stuff I want to keep and is created in pages.
Page 5 onwards has lots of graphics and wrap around text. If I simply delete everything on pages 1,2,3,4, then all my graphics and text end up in a big jumble. I thought about inserting section breaks to move the pages around (i.e. change the order, but that has a ripple effect on all my graphics as soon as I insert the section break). I don't seem to be able to simply select all my graphics and text and lock them.
Is there a way of doing this?

Thanks very much for the response.. I've deleted the pdfs that were effecting what followed the section break (I had several underneath the original image by mistake - I'd obviously been pressing option instead of command whilst trying to make some fine adjustments to the original positiiona) and now the section break has worked fine.

How do I duplicate a spreadsheet, then delete all content without losing the formatting?

I am using numbers to do my accounting for my business. I have created a spreadsheet with pre-formatted columns which is proving VERY useful. I have a drop-down list of "suppliers" which I will add to each month but the problem I have is that when I try and duplicate the spreadsheet (ready to start scratch for next months accounts) I'm struggling to delete all the data from the spreadsheet WITHOUT losing the formatting.
Any help is appreciated.

I'd suggest using a two template (or template plus document) approach.
The template would include the message "Paste POP-UP Here. Fill down" in the top cell of the Suppliers column.
The second template (or regular document) contains the current version of the pop-up menu cell.
Open both,
in the single cell document, select and edit the pop-up menu to include the added suppliers. When done, select the cell and Copy.
Switch to the document produced by the main template. Select the cell with the message (and the rest of the column below that cell) and Paste.
You now have an empty spreadsheet with pop-up containing the current supplier list.
If you add a supplier in mid month, you can add that supplier to the pop-up menu in the current row of the document, and Fill the edited menu down from there.
At the end of the month, if you have made additions to the menu list, select and copy a cell containing the most recent version, switch to the single cell document, select that cell and Paste. This updates the single cell to contain the current version of the pop-up menu, ready to be pasted into the next month's document.

PS: On re-readiing this, I'd also consider skipping the production and saving of the one cell document. The most current version of the pop-up menu will be the one at the bottom of the Suppliers column of the month just ending. That cell can be copied, pasted into the top cell of the column in the new month's table/document, then reset to the 'no entry' item, then filled down the column.

I deleted a gmail account that i was using for icloud, then created an icloud account not knowing that my contacts were linked to the gmail. I saw my contacts online at icloud. Anyway, i figured it out by deleting my new icloud and signing back in with the gmail.

To delete everything from the iPhoto Library select all photos in the "Photos" view and press the "delete ⌫" key.
You cannot delete your photos without effecting the Facebook albums, if you are syncing your iPhoto library albums to Facebook. See Terence Devlin's post here:

The only way to delete photos from your iPhoto library without removing them from your Facebook albums would be to sign out of Facebook first by deleting the Facebook account from your iPhoto Preferences:

I just got a new macbook, switching from a pc (windows xp). My ipod is formatted from Windows and i plugged it in. Now its only giving me the option to erase whats currently on my ipod and sync it with the current library on my mac( purchased songs from my ipod). I've already authorized my mac, but how can i transfer all the purchases on my mac onto my ipod without deleting the contents of it?

How do you resize existing partitions on an external hard-drive without deleting their contents?

Hi, I've got an external hard drive (1 GB Western digital) Which I bought with a view to both storage and time-machine functions.
Initially, I partitioned the hard drive such that I had 750 GB for the time-machine segment, and 250 GB for the storage segment.
Now that my storage is approaching the 250 GB limit, and my time machine is only taking up 80 of the alloted 750 GB, I want to transfer some of that space across so that I'll have more room for storage.
When attempting this on disk utility, I can reduce the size of the time machine partition, but I am unable to increase the size of the storage partition.
Can someone please advise what I should do to sort this out without deleting the contents of each partition.

Well, this is not easily answered. You can shrink existing partitions in order to add additional ones. But in order to add space from one partition to another that can only be done by first removing the lower partition first. If that partition has data, then it will be lost. Unfortunately, Disk Utility cannot manipulate partitions in place. You need a third-party utility for that, iPartition 3.4.1.
Now with that said I'll pass on a bit of advice. Do not us your Time Machine backup drive for extra storage. External storage and backups should be kept on separate drives. I suggest you get a separate drive for your storage or Time Machine backups.
If you use Disk Utility you can shrink your Time Machine partition, but the only way to put that space in another partition is to first delete the storage partition, then recreate it with a larger capacity.

I'd like to add some music to my iphone without erasing what's already there, but can't see how. in iTunes Devices (on computer) I select the summary pane, I check "manually manage music and videos". and "sync only selected songs and videos. "Automatic Sync" is not selected. Then in the music pane, "Sync Music" is the only box that can be checked. When I check that, I get another box that says "all existing content on iphone will be removed and replaced with songs and playlists from your iTunes library. Can anybody shed some light here?

If you have manually manage music and videos checked and have disabled sync automatically, you can now drag and drop videos right onto the iPhone in iTunes. You can also delete songs and videos right from the iPhone in iTunes. Just click on the iPhone in the left pane, hit the music folder and drag and drop all you want and delete all you want.

There is no convert Table to text capability in Pages v5.2.2, as there was in Pages ’09 v4.3.
You can keep the table while making the table grid vanish, leaving the existing tabular text structure. Select the table, and under the Format panel > Table tab, the following settings will produce this output. If selected, you can refine its document placement in the Arrange tab.

It sounds like you are not able to print to your Epson 2200. I found an article with steps you can take to troubleshoot printer issues on a Mac:
Follow these steps until the issue is addressed:
Make sure that the printer is powered on, has ink / toner, and that there are no alerts on the printer’s control panel. Note: If you cannot clear an alert on the printer's control panel, stop here and check the printer's documentation or contact the manufacturer for support.
Ensure the printer is properly connected to a USB port on the Mac or AirPort base station / Time Capsule. If the printer is a network-capable printer, make sure that it is properly connected to your home network.
Use Software Update to find and install the latest available updates. If an update is installed, see if the issue persists.
Open the Print & Scan pane or Print & Fax (Snow Leopard) pane in System Preferences.
Delete the affected printer, then add the printer again.
If the issue persists, try these additional steps:
Reset the printing system, then add the printer again.
If the issue still persists, reset the printing system again. Download and install your printer's drivers. Then, add the printer again.

u can actually force it to delete, oviously i assume you dont have the application or data etc open neware else?
try restarting your computer, go into finder close all your open applications etc, servers, **** even clear your data in your web browser, do a disk utility check and verify your drives and repair em if nessicary.

okay I've done everything regarding the transfer process (via file>transfer purchases) and syncing, so everything on my iPhone device seems to have been transferred to my iMac... however, I still get that message ("There are purchased items on the iPhone..."), trying to upgrade the iOS Have tried several times the same process of hitting transfer purchases via file, but nothing seems to make that message go away! An item that is moved to the trash is temporarily stored until you Empty the Trash. Data that is moved to trash is unusable by the system. Same as it would be in real life where you put items in your trash bin but you could take it back out if you haven't already thrown the trash away

Data sources in LO cockpit have a seperate exctraction source during full update mode and delta update mode.
During delta update mode(when an transaction is posted in any particular application - like SD - sales orderm delivery) data is posted in application tables and updated alongside to the update table/extraction queue.
From the extraction queue this data is further transfered to the delta queue using periodic background jobs.The data is then upladed in BW. The delta lad always reads data from this delta queue.
However, when a full load is requested from the BW, the data is sourced by the set up table of the corresponding application.
The setup table is loaded/initalized first. In this initialization process , it reads data frm the corresponding application tables and stores it within this table. Later BW reads from this set up table whenever full/initial load is requested.
The process of filling set up able before full load request frrom BW is called set up run.
Before you run a set up to fill the set up tables you need to check that the set up table is empty.
If it is still containing data that was previously loaded in some other set up run. This data will als get loaded in BW unitinetionally/accidentally.
So, you need to ensure that you only get the intended data in BW. This can be done by proper selections to transfer data from application tale to set up table and from setup table to BW.
Along with this you hae to ensure that the set up table is either empty or you are using a disparate selection in the set up run and BW load which does not overlap with the previous set up runs data.
