Deleting unused images in RH8 project root folder.

Hi:
I have a large number of unused images in the root folder of my RH8 project. Is there a way to delete them in bulk from inside of RH8? What if I deleted them from outside of RH8 through the Windows Explorer?
Thanks,
K

I find the easiest way to deal with unwanted files is to run the Usused Files report from the Tools > Reports menu. This lists (surprisingly) all your unused files. You can then delete them from Windows Explorer. There you can multi-select the files to make things easier.

  • Finding and deleting unused images

There's got to be an easy way to find all the unused image
files (or any other type of file) so that they can be managed - in
my case deleted. I'm trying to clean up my site - getting rid of
unused files. I had a lot of selections for images but used only a
small portion of them. I know if I go one-by-one and delete items
it will tell me they're linked. But I have aprox 100 unused files
so I'm looking for a way to automate it. Like in Flash - there's a
    usage count.
    help?
    thanks, Dave

Yes indeed - Adobe need to do some work on this feature - it

  • Saving an image in Root folder of tomcat

    Hello,
i have an urgent problem with saving an image in the root folder of tomcat, which I want to do without having to specify the entire path.
I have created a class, which i use as a bean in a jsp to save an image to the tomcat root folder.
If I use the following command, the image is saved:
    ChartUtilities.saveChartAsJPEG(new File(
    "C:/Program Files/Apache Software Foundation/Tomcat 5.5/webapps/trader/images/charts/1.jpg"), chart, 550, 260);
However, I should be doing it like this, which doesn't work and throws me an IO exception:
    ChartUtilities.saveChartAsJPEG(new File("images/charts/1.jpg"), chart, 550, 260);
    Cheers

Didn't we have this discussion in another thread? You can't give something urgently. It's semantically anaphoricular.

  • Why do I have duplicate images in my projects

    Hi,
Here is the issue. I have all my pictures or files in projects because is how I organized my pictures. But I created an album to share it in the cloud, and the images that were selected to be in the album are shown twice "duplicated" in the project. However, if I try to delete one of the duplicated versions that are inside the project it says "it will be deleted from albums, folders etc." Is that normal when I create albums with pictures that are alrady in a project or am I doing somehing wrong.
    Thanks.

Each image in your Aperture library will be in exactly one project, but can be used in as many albums and smart albums as you like, without creating duplicates. The albums just reference the images in the projects - they are just index cards grouping your images in different ways.  You are not seeing duplicate versions in the albums, the versions in the albums are linked to the projects. You will see that, when you ctrl-click an image in the album and use the command "Show in project".
If you delete an image from a project, it will automatically vanish from all albums.
The relation between albums and projects is explained in Kirby Krieger's user tip:

  • Resource manager and images being rewritten in the project root

    Hi everybody,
I began using the Resource Manager, and I created two folders, one with HTML files (topics), and another one with pictures present in those topics.
As I transferred the topics to the HTML shared folder the pictures references remained the old ones, i.e. the ones inside the project folder, right?
Therefore I began reassigning the pictures to the ones copied in the pictures shared folder, and here begins to be a little bit illogical and difficult.
I deleted the pictures from the original project folder as I want to save the space and have, of course, the pictures only in the shared folder, however after I reassign the pictures to one of the topics, and I sync it, the pictures I deleted appear in the root folder of the project.
I wanted to have the "common" pictures (they appear in 2 different projects) only in the shared folder (declared as pictures folder in Resource Manager) because if I do a modification of one picture, I would like to have this modification propagated in the second project, right?
And also save some space, as it does not make any sense to me to have the same pictures in 2 places (double space consumed) when I can have them in only one folder.
I would like to know how I can avoid this recopying of the picture files in my project folder, if possible.
    The procedure I used was:
    1. Found out which are the common topics for the 2 projects and copied them in the Resource Manager shared folder for HTML files.
    2. Found out which pictures were on those topics and copied them in the Resource Manger shared folder for pictures
    3. I included the shared topics into the project, and reassigned the pictures to the ones that are in the Resource Manager shared pictures folder
    4. I saved the topic, and did a sync in the Resource Manger
Did I do something wrong here?
    Thank you.

The repository has all the images you may want to use in any of your projects or elsewhere.
Each time you link in a project, that image only is copied to the project, not the whole repository. If either copy changes, you are notified. You then have the choice of updating the out of date copy or breaking the link because for some reason you now want the difference.
Your statement "I saw that if I use an external directory to the actual project where I have pictures, RoboHelp will copy those into the project's folder" is not correct. The Resource pod will show all the images available in the repository but only the ones in used in the project are copied locally.

  • How to delete unused audio files in a project?

    Hi guys,
    The question is fairly simple:
How to delete unused audio files in a project?
I can't manage to find the answer in the manual,... all I could find is how to delete audio outside used regions!
But in the projects I use, I have loads of outtakes which I don't use in the project anymore, and now, I would like to delete them of the audio folder to save space on the HD.
Can Logic select automatically the takes in the audio files folder which are not used in the project and delete them??
Because there is hundreds of audio files per project, and +/- 50 projects, I just can't do it manually.
    Thanks,
    Fred

Whoops! Yes, I knew that but a cow flew by... Sorry!
The procedure I follow is to do what I described then Save as Project, creating a project folder. That way only the required audio is saved to the folder and I delete all temporary stuff. However, if you have folders with shared material, it's much harder and would require you to go through all your projects doing Save as Project before you could delete your old working folder.
When doing day to day work, best practice is to create a new folder and only use Save as Project when you're working on stuff. Shared material (eg sample libraries etc) can go elsewhere and you can get Logic to copy those to the project folder automatically.
Otherwise, Shift-Backspace in the Audio window, as you rightly say
    Pete

  • How do I delete images in Finder's "all my Files" when I have the same pictures in a file in Documents? It seems like a lot of duplication. If I delete the individual image it disappears in the folder. Thank You.

How do I delete images in Finder's "all my files" without deleting the images in a separate folder I have in Documents? It seems to be so much duplication. Just set up our new Mac and am not understanding how the files work. Thank you.

All My files is a "search folder"
it isn't real storage location. All files within your home folder are found by the criteria set for the search folder and displayed to you In one place.
If the folder doesn't meet your needs, remove it from the sidebar.

  • All my photos have been imported to iPhoto library. Is it safe therefore to delete all photos in the Finder pictures folder? It seems crazy to have them duplicated (all are backed up externally). And are they full size images in iPhoto?

All my photos have been imported to iPhoto library. Is it safe therefore to delete all photos in the finder picture folder? It seems crazy to have them dupllcated ( all are backed up anyway). And are they the full sized images stored in iPhoto?

Assuming you have iPhoto set to the Default setting, then yes, your full sized photos are copied into the iPhoto Library and so you can delete your own stored in the Finder.
Easiest way to check:  Select a photo in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Reveal in Finder -> Original. A Finder Window should open with the file selected. Is it stored within the iPhoto Library? You can tell easily in the Finder's column view.
    As an FYI:
There are many, many ways to access your files in iPhoto:   You can use any Open / Attach / Browse dialogue. On the left there's a Media heading, your pics can be accessed there. Command-Click for selecting multiple pics.
(Note the above illustration is not a Finder Window. It's the dialogue you get when you go File -> Open)
You can access the Library from the New Message Window in Mail:
There's a similar option in Outlook and many, many other apps.  If you use Apple's Mail, Entourage, AOL or Eudora you can email from within iPhoto.
If you use a Cocoa-based Browser such as Safari, you can drag the pics from the iPhoto Window to the Attach window in the browser.
If you want to access the files with iPhoto not running:
For users of 10.6 and later:  You can download a free Services component from MacOSXAutomation  which will give you access to the iPhoto Library from your Services Menu.
Using the Services Preference Pane you can even create a keyboard shortcut for it.
For Users of 10.4 and 10.5 Create a Media Browser using Automator (takes about 10 seconds) or use this free utility Karelia iMedia Browser
    Other options include:
Drag and Drop: Drag a photo from the iPhoto Window to the desktop, there iPhoto will make a full-sized copy of the pic.
File -> Export: Select the files in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export. The dialogue will give you various options, including altering the format, naming the files and changing the size. Again, producing a copy.
Show File:  a. On iPhoto 09 and earlier:  Right- (or Control-) Click on a pic and in the resulting dialogue choose 'Show File'. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.    3.b.
b: On iPhoto 11 and later: Select one of the affected photos in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Reveal in Finder -> Original. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.

This is one of the least satisfactory aspects of site management in Dreamweaver, and several developers, including myself, have been pressuring the Dreamweaver team for some years to improve this. Who knows? They might eventually take notice.
The only way to do this at the moment is to create two site definitions, one nested inside the other. Set up the site definition normally based on htdocs as your site root. Then create a new site definition based on site. Dreamweaver will nag you that it can cause problems, but it won't actually stop you from doing it. The only potential problem is with site synchronization.
The problem with using site as the only basis for your site definition is that Dreamweaver automatically puts things like the Connections, Scripts, and other folders in the site root. So, everything ends up at the wrong level of the site hierarchy. Quite frankly, the whole thing is a bit of a pain. Dynamic site development was added to Dreamweaver only in version 6 (Dreamweaver MX), and no one had really thought through the need to store files outside the site root.

  • Saving images in local root folder before inserting into website.

I have a completed website and the client has sent me some images and asked me to insert them into the website, but before I do that I know that they have to be saved in the local root folder - what is the easiest way to do this?

I have a completed website and the client has sent me some images and asked me to insert them into the website, but before I do that I know that they have to be saved in the local root folder - what is the easiest way to do this?
If you insert an image on a page in a local site, and if that image is not currently within your local root folder, DW will prompt you to determine if you want to copy that image into your default images folder.  In this case you do.
Alternatively, you could just copy the images into any folder within your local root using Explorer/Finder.  When you next connect to that site in DW, it will find the images there and you can use them right away.

  • How do I delete unused footage but not mess up my project file?

Here is the direct quote from the iMovie 08 Tutorial.
"If you try to delete an Event that has clips being
used in a project you will see an alert window.
Choose Delete Unused to delete only the clips in
that Event that are not being used in a project."
I have been taking 50 minute videos on my camcorder and uploading them to the iMac. On about all of the clips I only use 5 minutes of footage. I was looking for a way to save space and I found this quote in the iMovie user guide, so I tried it.... but it messed up every single one of my projects that had the event files clips in them. The footage i needed still showed up under the event, but none of my projects that used these clips were working. Did I do something wrong?
Has anyone else had this problem?

I'm confused now but then it could be the sort of thing that needs to be actually seen. Don't have an Apple Store nearby you could pop into to ask a genius do you?
I'm successfully removing unwanted footage without affecting the project as long as the footage isn't in a project. There was one moment where I got the warning signs in a project and the thumbnails went blank but restarting iMovie fixed that.
Maybe if you described the exact process you've been through from start to finish as far as rejecting and removing footage goes I or someone could see where you went wrong.
With something new like iMovie 08 I think it's probably best to start with just one project, exploring all the features including removing footage so that you get a good grasp of it before really getting stuck into it. I wish I'd been a bit more patient myself.
Have you fully explored iMovie's Help topics for "Removing unwanted video from your hard disk"?

  • Titles or Music in Project Shift when deleting unused clips from Event

When deleting unused clips from an Event ("Move Event to Trash | Delete Unused") the Titles and/or the Music / Voiceover shifts in time within the project built from clips in that Event. Sometimes, the music slides later, so instead of starting at the beginning of the project, it's slid over by 20 or so. Other times, the music stayed anchored, but the titles moved to later times. In some cases, the titles not only moved, but streched in time, so that a 5 second title placed at 10 seconds into the project, became a 47 second title, starting 35 seconds into the project! This has happened to four projects and I just verified again as part of this posting that it is still an issue. Easy enough to slide the clips and music back where they belong but now it says "Itunes" and "YouTube" is out of date; they are not - it's iMovie that got confused.

You're performing a 'Ripple delete' by using the DEL key. Use the DELETE key to perform a 'Lift delete'. The DELETE key is located just above the backslash key.
