Delimited file, jsp front end browse, insert into oracle db.

Hey all. I know I've seen this around somewhere, and instead of me rewriting the whole thing, I thought I would try and find it. If someone else knows where I could find it please let me know. We have some delimited files that we would like to upload into or Oracle DB (10g). Simple jsp front end browse for the file and upload it. Would like to be able to choose what type of file, and the delimiter type. Also, we have SQL Loader, but I am not sure how to integrate that.
Thanks in advance
orozcom

Yeah, I think I will just create a java/jsp app to do this. I just found out that the data does not need to be saved. The info that is going into this table is a schedule for a university. The schedule will be upload like every time they have changes, or every semester.
So I think I will do is just create a new table each time, or I could just clear the table each time. I don't know yet. This seems like an easy way of doing it. If there is already something out there that I could modify then that would be great. If not I could easily write this program tonight.

  • Can we run in Background job which can pick a file from front end ?

    Hi All,
I would like to run a report in Background job , for this i need to pick a file from front end services(Local drive or share folder)
Is there any alternate FM=>GUI_UPLOAD  to upload data from front end services or any other solution for this?
I am getting error=> "No batch" and " Cannot perform frontend function in batch input mode"
Could you please help on this ?
Thanks for your help in advance.
    Regards,
    Prasad.

    Hello Prasad,
IF you keep your file on a shared folder on your front end, you can access it via OPEN DATASET if your application server has access to that path.
You can test it out by asking Basis to try and access your front end file from the app server itself.

    Hi All,
    I have below require ment.
I will receive data in the XML file. then i need to read that data and insert into oracle tables. please let me know how this can be handled.
    Many Thanks.

Sounds a lot like this question, only with less details.

  • Convert flat file to XML document and store into Oracle database

    First:
I have a flatfile and created external table to read that file in Oracle
Now I want to create an XML document for each row and insert into Oracle database, I think that XMLtype.
Could you please provide me some information/steps.
    Second:
Is there performance issues, because everyday I need to check that XML document stored in the database against the in coming file.
    Thank You.

    Oracle 11g R2 Sun Solaris
Flat file is | (pipe delimited), so I did create an EXTERNAL Table
    row1     a|1|2|3|4
    row2     b|2|3|4|5
    row3     c|6|7|8|9
I want to store each record as XML document. So it will be easy to compare with next day's load and make insert or update.
    The reason is:
First day the file comes with 5 columns
after some days, the file may carry on some additional columns more than 5
In this case I do not want to alter table to capture those values, if I use XML than I can capture any number of columns, CORRECT!. Please make me correct If I am wrong.
This is the only reason to try to use the XMLType (XML Document)
On Everyday load we will be matching these XML documents and update it if there is any column's value changes
daily average load will be 10 millions and initial setup will be 60-80 millions
Do I have anyother option to capture the new values without altering the table.
    Please advise!.

  • Bulk insert into oracle using ssis

    Hi ,
Can someone please suggest me the way to Bulk insert data into oracle database? I'm using oledb which doesnt support bulk insert into oracle.
Pls note I cant use Oracle ATTUnity as it requires enterprise edition but i have only Standard edition and hence that option is ruled out.
Is there any other way that I can accompolish BULK insert?
    Please help me out.
    Thanks,

    Hi Prabhu,
I am very late to help you solve the query but following is the solution to 'Bulk Insert into Oracle' that worked for me.
To use below code for SSIS 2008 R2 in a
Script Task component you would need following API references.
    Prerequisites:
    1. C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SQL Server\100\SDK\Assemblies\Microsoft.SQLServer.DTSRuntimeWrap.dll
    2. Install "Oracle Data Provider For .NET 11.2.0.1.0" and add a reference to
    Oracle.DataAccess.dll.
Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services Script Task
Write scripts using Microsoft Visual C# 2008.
The ScriptMain is the entry point class of the script.

You are already using the Report Generation Toolkit?  There is the "Append Control Image to Report.vi" that would make this easy.

  • Create and send file to front-end for download.

    Hi,
In a nutshell I need to give users the possibility to download the contents of a table as a CSV file.
From what is understood, this would happen like this:
1)loop over the context node and write a file (table.csv) with the contents of each cell separated with a semi-colon. (or is there an API available to write the contents of an entire node/table)
2)send this file to the front-end so that a file download automatically begins and user can save it on the hard-disk.
Has someone done this before? If so, is it possible to share the code?
As usual, big points will be awarded.
    Thanks!
    faB

    Hi faB,
Refer "Exporting Context Data into Excel Using the Web Dynpro Binary Cache" by Bertram Ganz. This document will be very much helpful for you in exporting the context data into excel.
You can get the sample code and corresponding documentation from the following link

  • Uploaded file (via front-end) created as a Media Download item (Literature Item)?

Is it possible to have an uploaded file (via a form or webapp edit form on the site front-end) to be stored/created as a Media Download item (Literature Item)? Or alternatively, is it possible to secure a file that has been uploaded on the front-end (by 'secure' I mean cannot be access outside of a secure zone)?
My aim is to have customers upload files into their secure zone and maintain that security on the uploaded file so other cannot access them. I can't see that this will be possible but hopefully someone might have some creative ideas to get around it.

    Hi Adam,
This can be implemented via web apps, please go through the web app tutorials here to know more about them - User manual
You can set up a secure web app to take the submissions from the users and include file upload in that submission. Those submissions are visible to only the user who submits it, unless, you enable the option where every one can see/edit it.
Note: Via the web apps, the files that are uploaded, they go into a folder with a random name which is directly accessible on the internet, even though, on the site, through the web app items, only the logged in users can see it. By this I mean that anyone who has the direct link to the file will be able to access it and it can also be indexed by search engines. So, when it comes to using the work around of web apps to implement this function on your site, make sure to take measure to block Google bots from indexing the files.

  • Downloaded PDF file on front end is not opening

    Hi,
We have a requirement to open the Master Data Governance documents (which are stored as RAWSTRING in a DB table)
from an ALV on double click.
We are downloading the binary content(converting XSTRING to BINARY) as a file with appropriate extension onto the front end temp directory using GUI_DOWNLOAD of CL_GUI_FRONTEND_SERVICES and opening the file using method EXECUTE of the same class.
Everything is fine and documents are opening in their respective editors, expcept that a few PDF documents are not getting opened properly after downloading. Happened with an excel attachment as well.
The message "Adobe Reader could not open 'XXXXX.PDF' because it is either not a supported file type or....." appears.
Please let us know the way ahead on this issue.
We have gone through the previous SDN forums, but we did not get anything which fixes this issue.
    Thanks,

Could you post the non-working code?
Posting the rawstring may also help.

  • Parsing XML file & insert into Oracle Tables

    Hi,
Following is a sample xml file which is an input for a oracle procedure :

    <City Code="NY" Name="New York" />
    <City Code="NJ" Name="New Jersy" />
    </Sales>
I have individual tables for Sales, Customer, Order, Item, User & City tags with proper referential constraints. I have to parse the xml & have to insert the corresponsing tables for each & every tag if the ID in individual tag does not exists in the table. If the ID already exist, then, I have to update other attributes in the table for the corresponding ID.
Can anyone suggest me the simplest way to perform the above said scenario?

    Dera Michael,
Sorry for the confusing previous reply. I went through your solution again and tried for my XML File.
I have stored the XML File in table XXLF_DS_XML.Should I make use of the table in the below query.
Here is my SQL Query erroring Out
