Delimiting a record

Hi Experts
I am big time confused wrt Delimiting so need ur help!!!
for a custom table i need to delimit a certain set of records.
the only thing mentioned in the requirement is begda 01.01.2009 endda 31.12.2009 and the values. when i look at the table the begda is 01.01.2009 there as well but the endda is 31.12.9999.
For me to delimit, what date shd i enter?? shd i copy the records and change their end date to 31.12.2009 frm 31.12.9999 and delimit from 01.01.2009??
plz help at the earliest.

Via which transaction are you accessing the table?
Does table has a view and can be accessed via SM30?
If you have a delimit button, just hit it and add the new date as 01.01.2010
However, if you don't have that button, just copy the existing entry with new begda 01012010 endda 31129999.
The older record should automatically have an end date 31.12.2009. If not change its end date manually.

Dynamic Action-Delimiting a record and creating new record

My requirement is in dynamic Action I need to delimit all records in a Subtype of an Infotype and create New record for these records with BEGDA as ENDDA + 1 of the delimited records.
Iam able to delimit all records in the Subtype but , Iam not able to create new records.

The above code is working fine.
My code for creating new record is as given below, even though the control is oing to the subroutine, INS statement is not working, and hence new record is not getting created.

1. I have not worked on this dynamic action.
2. But instead of doing in 2 steps,
   it is usually done in 1 step only, manually.
3. If we CREATE record from some date,
   then the OLD will AUTOMATICALLY get Delimited.
(We don't have to do anything specially for delimiting
the old record)

SAP HR: How to prevent delimiting of records when setting a lock

Hi All,
I am part of a SAP HR implementation. In one of the Infotypes, I am copying a record and setting a lock in the new record by going to the menu Edit-->Lock/Unlock.
This should ideally lock the record without touching the previous record. But in my case, the previous record is being delimited. Can someone tell me what settings need to be done in order to prevent the delimiting of the previous record till the lock is unlocked.

I think it depends on the Time Constraint of the Infotype in question. Do you have a valid record with a BEGDA after the record that you are trying to lock?

Delimiting the record in custom table

Hi,
I have a cretaed a custom table with the from and to date fields.
In my requirement the date should be delimited to the new date and it should not overlap.
Eg:if the user gives input as below
A   B   01.01.2009   31.12.2010
A   B   01.01.2010    31.12.2010
then the table entries should be delimited to
A   B   01.01.2009   31.12.2009
A   B   01.01.2010   31.12.2010.
Can any one pls help me in this requirement.

I am using sql loader to load data in a table, the field terminator is '|' , there are multi line datas for one field, i want to specify the record delimiter.
it considers new line as one record.

I am delimiting records (wagetype) in IT0014. I do this manually using the delimit icon displayed in the record. I can see the message at the bottom saying that the record has been delimited.
When I go back in to see the overview the delimited record is not shown. How do I go about seeing if it really delimited and not deleted ?

Hello,
Unfortunately, the record is deleted. It happens most of the times if the version of SAP you are using is an old one.
I would suggest the below steps for delimiting the records next time.
1. Go to PA30. Enter Infotype 14. Select radio button ALL. Remove any dates from PERIOD fields if any.
2. Click on the delimit button on the same page.
3. Select the wage type from the list.
4. Now the important part. In the CHOOSE enter the start and end date of the record that you need to delimit. DONT LEAVE IT TO THE DEFAULT DATES. Also enter the DELIMIT DATE.
5. Click on DELIMIT button or icon again on this screen. Save the record.
Now the record will not be deleted.

Multiple records for infotype with TC1

Hi all,
We have maintained use case A4 for mailing address in ESS.
Strangely, one of our end users, has two overlapping mailing address records! The user had a mailing address record which he edited in ESS. This edited record appears in the backend as a new record. So now the user sees two records in the backend - both with a different start date, but the same end date of 12/31/9999, instead of seeing the first record as delimited. And now when he tries to edit his mailing address in ESS, he gets an RFC error.
Ideally for TC1, a user cannot have two overlapping records and the first record gets delimited to accomodate the updated record as the current record.
Any idea, why this could be happening? We are unable to replicate this issue at our end as this scenario seems impossible for an infotype with TC1.

ideally it should have delimited the records, but can check how the enduser created the record?
TC1 can use A1,A4,B1,B4
TC2 can use A1,A2,A3,A4,A5,B1,B2,B4,B5
TC3 can use A6,B3
Note this
A: A record can be created specifying the valid start and/or end date Multiple records can exist.. By default the ESS scenario's will allow you specify the start date as today or future date. If you wish to enable ESS scenario's to accept a start date in the past, Business Add-in "HRXSS_PER_BEGDA" can be implemented.
For more information, please refer to IMG activity "Change Default Start Date".
B: A record can be created without specifying the valid start and/or end date. Multiple records are not possible.
A4: Variant of A1, Difference to A1 being, "New <infotype/subtype>" button will always be available on the overview screen of the concerned scenario. E.g., suitable in Permanent address.
A6: Multiple infotype records of the same type (e.g. other bank) may exist for an employee at the same time. "New <infotype/subtype>" button will always be available on the overview screen of the concerned scenario. E.g., suitable in Other bank.

Java.lang.string(split)

I am trying to split a delimited input record using the Perl equivalent pattern of /\|/. Can someone tell me what that translates too exactly in Java? My guess is "//'\'|//".
Also once I split to an array I would like to pull the contents of each field out individually. The string.split function appears to place the entire record in the array. I am using the following syntax with
the bufferedReader:
String[] RecFields = thisLine.split("//'\'|//");
My understanding was that this would place each field in it's own Array element without saving the delimeter. So that I could retrieve field
number 3 in it's entirety for example by using the syntax:
String strField3 = RecFields[3];
StringTokenizer has already been tried and will not work because of null (empty) values in the string are skipped as Array elements.

That was it!!! It was the actual delimiter string. I thought the extra slashes were an "OR" statement to eliminate duplicate records. I'll have to get this confirmed with Perl though. It's working perfectly now with \\| as the delimiter string. For those of you who are curious it was a 20 field pipe delimited record. Each field hada a variable length. The only records with values in each field all the time were fields 1 & 2, the others can contain null values. However all 20 fields are delimited no matter what value they contain.

Time Evaluation to be changed from Annually to Daily

Good Morning !!
I am facing an issue from my client...It is, we have generated the absence quotas for the employees in Production System upto 31/12/2007 and each employee's entitlement of leave upto 31.12.2007 is stored in their Absence quotas infotype 2006.
Now, my client doesn't want his employees' to view their absence quotas upto the end of the year. (Employees can see their absence quotas through ESS and can apply for leave thru ESS). They want to display only the "Earned/Accrued Leaves" quota only upto the date i.e., they wish the system to generate the absence quotas "Daily" instead of "Annually".
Now, I have generated the absence quotas through t-code PT60 for all the employees from their hiredate to the end of year.
Now, I couldn't understand what to do to make the system to generate automatically absence quotas "daily" .....that too I have generated until the end of this year.....They want it now to change the config settings and make absence quotas generate automatically on daily basis......
SAP System came to LIVE from April 2007.
Can any expert help me what I need to do.......
This is an urgent requirement please......

yes deleting the data is not easy because u may have employees who might have already utilized some of the leaves.
like in say earned leave if a person has used 5 leaves and now according to his accural for a these three months is only 3 then waht happens.
you have to take a back up of all the records 2001. 2006 then generate and
upload 2001 again.
you have to validate these records. then only you can take a decision.
u can delimit 2006 and then from now on tranfer on daily accural can be done.
just try and see delimiting the records for this date and check any errors are coming.
because when u delimit 2006 the 2001 record should not have morethan the quota
number.

Can you delimit family member / dependents in ESS?

Presently withing personal info > family member/dependents there are options to edit and delete the records. Hitting the delete button removes the record from the employees master data in the back end (it would still be there in the change logs but not visible via PA30).
Is there a way of changing the functionality so that the delete button (which could be renamed) only delimits a record rather than removes it completely?

We are trying to implement this scenario.
This is the first time i am implementing ESS.
a) The address infotype in sap Hr will show in the
personal info tab of the ESS screen.Does it show up with all the fields as in the address infotype(subtype 1-permanent address).there is an option for deactivating the subtype.is there an option for deactivating the fields?
b)Can i limit the number of fields that can show up. for eg : i just want to see the phone number, street address c)if an employee signs in and changes the phone number and street address it delimits the record, so the data in the remaining fields is still available or is it delimited

if i change an address in ESS on EP 6.0 does it directly update the sap R/3 system?
does it need any approval before updating the R/3 system?
if no approvals are needed after it updates the R/3 system it should send an email about the update to benefits handled by third party. is there a way i can configure this in sap

Hiding std infotype fields in coding.

HI all,
I have enhanced a standard infotype. I want to hide all the std fields when a particular subtype is selected. Instead, a new set of fields (fields added in the customer include structure) need to be shown.
I have added logic to hide the standard fields in the module pool pgm ZP000600. But the std fields are still displayed when i view the infotype in PA30.
loop at screen.
if screen-name = 'P0006-ZLOCAT1'.
screen-active = 0.
modify scren.
endif.
endloop.
But the same coding is working for custom fields..I.e. Custom fields are hidden.
Pls tell me how to hide the std fields through coding?.

If i write the coding in user exit, then the std fields are hidden only while i click 'CREATE' button and while clicking 'Change' or 'Display' button, again the standard fields are displayed again.
So i tried writing the coding in the PBO of BADI (HRPAD00INFTY) implementation and the standard fields are hidden even in display and change more. But still i have some problem.
That is, while i click create and enter the infotype start date, its ginving me some warning messages like 'This entry delimits the record'. 'This entry deletes a record'.. When i press enter after all these warning, again the standard fields are getting displayed in the screen. At this time, none of the coding in exit and badi is called.
Pls advice me how to solve this issue?

RunTime error DBIF_RSQL_INVALID_RSQL while updating infotype 0035

Dear Experts,
I am delimiting(changing the end date from future date to current date) the HR objects in IT 0035 using FM RH_CUT_INFTY. It is delimiting the records as per required.
To do this update we have developed a report where we read the Object ID and the PERNR on the selection screen and inside the program we update IT35.
The program executes in three steps:
1. Lock HR Object
2. Update(in synchronous mode) the records for the specified Object ID-PERNR pair using FM RH_CUT_INFTY
3. Release HR object and go to next HR object and go back to step 1.
The report is executing good when there are less number of records for an HR object. But, when the number of (PERNR)records for an HR object is more then the report is giving a po-up "Update was terminated" and when I checked the dump for the same in ST22, it gives the following details:
Runtime Errors : DBIF_RSQL_INVALID_RSQL
Exception         : CX_SY_OPEN_SQL_DB
I would be grateful if anyone can please help me resolve this issue.

This FM seems to be designed for mess process of CUT INFTY.
