  • Demo Material For 5K iMac?

Does anyone know of a good source of 5K or 6K demo material for the new 5K iMac?

    The 5K requires:
    Maximum Memory
    32 GB
    Memory Slots
    4 - 204-pin PC3-12800 (1600 MHz) DDR3 SO-DIMM
Those in the image appear to be correct.

  • Issues using 11.1.1.7.0 demo material on Windows 64 bit env

I use ODI 10g - so downloaded 11gR1 version 11.1.1.7.0 and worked through demo to find out more about 11g functionality.  I installed 11gR1 on Windows 7.   I have found an issue with the SRC_SALES_PERSON datastore in the "Parameters - FILE" folder under Models.  When I right click this datastore and choose "View Data" - I see that this datastore contains no rows, it is empty.  The other datastore in this folder (SRC_AGE_GROUP) looks good i.e. I can view its data.
I checked the source file "SRC_SALES_PERSON.txt".  There appears to be an issue with it.  The first field in the file (SALES_PERS_ID) is actually 11 characters long - and not 10 characters as per the data store definition.  This means that the start value for the remaining 3 fields in out by 1.
Also date format for HIRE_DATE appears to be incorrect.  The date format is defined as "dd/MM/yyyy hh:mm:ss" - however I think it should be "dd/MM/yyyy HH:mm:ss".  I read that ODI manages dates using the java format.  In java format hh represents hour in format 1-12.  Actual data contains 00 in hour field.  The java format HH represents hour in format 0-23.
I copied the original SRC_SALES_PERSON datastore and made the above changes - I can now view the file data correctly in ODI.
Has anybody else tried the 11gR1 demo on windows 64 bit and noticed issues with the demo relating to SRC_SALES_PERSON datastore

    Hi Lex,
you cannot use the SAP DB (=old name of SAP MaxDB) package you found on the old SAP DB site for your PI installation for various reasons:
    a) SAP DB version 7.4 is VERY old, it is no longer supported since the end of 2006 !
    b) typically, a SAP application and its DBMS are installed using SAPinst
Try checking the SAP Software Distribution Center (incl. PAM: Product Availability Matrix) on the SAP Support Portal. You can also get the correct software there (when you're an official SAP customer).

  • Material send for demo

    Hi,
If i am sending the materail for demo purpose .
How this can be handled in SAP B1.
Please let me know the step by step process.
    regards
    Suresh S

    Hello Suresh,
Is the material a fixed asset or not ? If it is fixed asset, you must create a special asset name for example sudsam fixed asset in the item master data and tick fixed assets.
If it is standard inventory, do this following:
    1. Creating item group name : demo and assign it to the demo material and or creating a warehouse code name demo and along with item group demo. in the Gl method by, just use warehouse. if you want just item by level, it is also okay.
    2. speficy or defining its G/L account in the item group (under module administration --> inventory setup --> item group. You must create a account code name demo. it is inventory account.
    3. You must consider document to issue the material. If you want to track the demo material movement, you would be better to create a special business partner (it is a customer, but just an internal) and use inventory transfer. The warehouse of demo material is demo whse and whse code origin is from your main whse. You could use also good issue and good receipt.
    Rgds,

  • Where do I find "The Numbers Game" demo project?

Can somebody tell me where to find "The Numbers Game" demo project?
    Thanks

    Hi
The Numbers Game demo material is only installed with the original Disk version of Logic 9. If you bought Logic from the AppStore, you will have Foster the People instead.
You can get at the demo material via the Logic Help menu (Exploring Logic)

  • Return goods: sales return

    Hi sap gurus,
If the goods are returned back, what happens to the returned goods.
What is the diff b/w Subsequent delivery free of charge and free of charge delivery

When the goods are returned back , it first goes to the Block/restricted stock.
The quality assurance department will varify it and if they certify as 'OK', then again a document is created with a different movement type to include it in the un-restricted stock.
In the process, we have to create a Return order (you have to put a order reason, why this has taken place ), which can be created either with reference to the Sales order or Billing document. Ofcourse it can be created without any reference also.
With reference to the Return order, a Return delivery is created and a Put away & PGR for the same.
Then, we have to issue a Credit memo for the return and **it is created with reference to the Return order**.
Before creating a Credit memo , you have to remove the "billing block" from the Return order.
    your 2nd question
When you send a Demo material to your customer, you do not charge for it. It is for demonstration purpose , so no commercial value is associated.
To process this type of material, you create an order with Order type FD.  This is called "Free of charge Delivery".
    Another scenario,
You had sent some quantity of material say M1 to your cutomer.
Customer has paid for those quantity. Now, customer has returned suppose one unit due to damage. I want to replace this one unit by a fresh one. So, now I will send a fresh piece as replacement which is free of charge.
That means , I am sending subsequently one more unit/quantity which is now free of charge. This is processed with order type SDF and called "Subsequent delivery Free of charge".
The most important difference between  "FD" (Free of charge delivery) and "SDF"(Subsequent delivery free of charge) is that FD does not require any reference but SDF always requires a preceding document.

  • Voice Memos grayed out after iOS 8 upgrade, then restore

    Hello all,
As others have stated, I lost ALL my voice memos after upgrading my iPhone 5c (don't judge) to iOS 8. Simple enough, restore right? Wrong. Restored the iCloud backup from a few days ago, pre iOS 8 update. "Got" the data back, at least everything looked right....except the OS is still iOS 8, not 7 (fine), but when I open Voice Memos I now SEE my recordings, but they are all greyed out and I can't play them or send them to myself to save them. I'm a songwriter and I have valuable demo material here I really don't want to lose. Any help appreciated!!

Well, nevermind! I guess the restore just hadn't finished because now all is back to normal!

  • How much time do you spend on a shot?

Hi everybody, just was curious what is a standard time professional colorists spends with a shot, or is supposed to spend. Is there some expectation the colorist should accomplish, let's say 2 shots in a minute, in a professional world?

    Concur.
Whatever it takes. If it takes a long time: a) hope that: 1. client can: i) pay
    ii) appreciate the effort
    2. you can use the grade again as a copy
    3. its so awesome, its demo material
    b) double-check you aren't up a blind alley.
    c) consider moving on to something else and come back
If it takes a short time... are you doing enough? and why is this in color correction?
Seriously, there is a physical limitation to the amount of time that a colorist can spend on a shot and stay subjective -- its about 20 seconds. Its physiological, and its "color adaptation" and its an indispensable part of human vision. Not only does your eye-brain constantly adjust the Exposure Index of your retinal-register, its also changing the color-temperature. That part is called "constant color" and it updates your perception of what color things appear to be under different illuminations.
This is not the same as "metamerism" which is the phenomenon of different materials exhibiting different color renditions under differing illumination -- artificially-dyed hair looking lovely and blonde under incandescent but fluorescing green under halogen is one example.
A white sheet of paper under a desk lamp is still "white" to a human observer when it is held under a sodium street lamp at night, or at arm's length out in the park at noon in broad daylight. That is because your brain is taking care of it -- and this is particularly dangerous in grading.
It is one of the prime reasons why a user interface be as close to instantaneous as possible, and that the physical interaction between the grader, physical controls, software and display be invisible and intuitive. When the cycle of attention is broken, such as by looking back at a screen interface, instead of the image under correction, it can be good and bad. "Too much" detaches the colorist from the values, while getting fixated can be just as bad, and a glance away (at a suitably neutral interface or other display) can be beneficial to getting back to a subjective observational space.
So in summation, as far as benchmark clips/hour go... it has changed a lot now that NL grading is more prevalent. We are expected to go far faster, even when the work still progresses at the speed of human decision.
We used to think that generating media at a rate of 3:1 was good for "best-light dailies", loading film, getting a workable grade, syncing sound and laying it down to tape while logging the takes.
Grading an IP finished feature film was slotted into the schedule at 20 or so hours, give or take.
An A-List feature can take weeks.
An A-List international distribution commercial can take ??? minutes, hours, days....
But if you are in a shot for more than 30 seconds, at least go back to the shot previous and roll back in to see if you have the effect you want, and if its changing in the right direction, at least... then continue.

  • Sound bar or Home Theater

I have a new Sharp 60" 1080 LED TV, very nice TV very Happy with it, but like most TV's the sound could be improved.  I have my HD cable box, Sony PS3 and Xbox 360 hooked up to it.  Playstation primarily for Blue-ray, 360 for gaming.  I thought about picking up a sound bar for the TV to improve the sound.  When you look at spending at least $350 for a less expensive sound bar, for a small increase I could get a home theater in a box and elimnate the VERY noisy fan on the PS3 for movies.  I am open to opinions with reasons... what am I missing on my thought process?

    Hello,
It all depends on what you want to do. It also depends on your room. If you are going to have a surround sound system, you will need to think about where your rear speakers are going to be placed and if you are going to buy one of the HTIBS(home theater in a box systems), will you buy one that has rear speakers that can be connected to a wireless module? If you do not want to run wires across your room, then you will want to look at Samsung, LG or Sony as the brands that offer systems with a wireless rear speaker option. Also keep in mind that these units have built in blu-ray players and all of their speakers are proprietary, so if anything was to go wrong with any part of the unit, you would not be able to easily replace that part without having to either ship the whole system or replace the entire system. HTIBS offer quick and affordable home theater solutions, but they typically do not last as long as separate component setups, which would be a real home theater receiver and a set of  separate speakers. They have limited performance, but that is a separate issue altogether. Also, a real receiver will allow you to connect all of your devices and get true 5.1 surround sound out of them if you have the speakers connected to the receiver. If you buy an HTIB you will be limited with your connection options since most of them do not have more than 2  audio in connections and it seems you have 3 devices that you would like to get surround sound from(PS3, Xbox, cable box). But if you buy one with a built in blu ray player, you could theoretically unhook the ps3 since you indicated that it is primarily for blu ray watching anyway. That would leave you with the 360 which you could hook up through an HDMI In on the unit and your cable box which you could connect via digital optical cable. This would allow for you to have the connections you need, but if you ever want to add anything later on, this would be your peak.
By having a device connected to your TV and then connecting your TV to the surround sound unit, you are automatically going to downmix the material to a stereo(2.0) sound instead of a 5.1 sound and you will not be getting true surround sound through all of the speakers in the HTIB. In order to get true 5.1, the devices must be directly connected to your surround sound unit or receiver.
On the other side, having a soundbar will eliminate the issue of downmixing, since the soundbar is only two speakers and a subwoofer in most cases anyway, you will not have to worry about the downmixing process.
So to sum it up, if you want true surround sound and have the room for extra speakers and possibly speaker wire, I'd say go for the HTIB and see how you like it, especially if you can get one that has wireless rear speakers. As long as you understand the limited connectivity and you also understand that a separate component system with a real AV receiver will give you superior performance and options, I'd say you are educated enough to make a decision.
Also, head into your local best buy and listen to some of the HTIBS they have on display. You can even bring your own CD of demo material to see how the speakers sound to your ears. To a lot of folks, they offer enough performance for the money they are willing to spend. For some, they don't quite do it. It's all subjective and it's all up to you, because at the end of the day, your ears are the only ones that matter when making a purchase for your use.

The Oracle documention says that column subsetting is possible with the replication. Does anyone have an example ?

I'm just curious-- is there a reason that you're
    using CREATE_SNAPSHOT_REPOBJECT rather than
CREATE_MVIEW_REPOBJECT? I realize that they do the
same thing, but the fact that you're referring to an
old procedure name makes me concerned that you may be
referring to some older documentation which may be
doing things in an older and more complicated
    fashion.
If it's not a multimaster environment, why not just
create the materialized view on the remote system,
toss it in a refresh group if necessary, and call it
    a day?
Can you post the exact SQL you used in your steps?
The error generally means that some of the
parameters you specified in one or more of the
earlier steps are in conflict, so we need to see
    exactly what you're doing.
JustinJustin, I use CREATE_SNAPSHOT_OBJECT because it's the command generated by the deployment templates. However, rest assured that I use the lastest documentation. Here is a script that reproduces the problem :

  • Product is not defined in Supplying plant in demo system

    Hi Experts,
I am doing initial load in demo system. While doing Material transfer I am facing Product is not defined in supplying plant issue.
Though I am transferring master data 1st time to the plants, how can i extend product to the supplying plant first.
    please advice.
    Thanks,
    Bala.

    Hi Bala.
Are you using special procurement key for Production in Another Plant? If yes, perhaps you can try to send first the material at production plant and only then send it at planning plant to APO. I've never had this issue, so this is just an idea/educated guess.
Also, what support packages are you on?

What is it your are actually trying to do?
    On one hand you say:
    PARTITION BY LIST (PERIOD_YEAR)
Then you proceed to use the syntax for range partitioning:
    VALUES LESS ('2006'),
Look up the correct syntax at http://tahiti.oracle.com or the demos in Morgan's Library at www.psoug.org.

  • Two profit centers in same plant for one material

    Dear All
We have this request from a customer.
There is a material in 1 plant but need to track that same materials in 2 different cost elements depending on where these are used (e.g. for sales will be booked to profit center 1 and demo will be booked to profit center 2)
Now we can partially achieve this by splitting them into 2 storage locations however this will only give a report on quantity and not separate valuation since 1 material can only have 1 profit center per plant. So we can know there are for example 4 sales item in sales storage location and 2 item in demo storage location but we will not know their price valuation as it will show 1 combined value for all 6, and we cannot assume valuation per item to be total divided by 6 because the value for the sales item and demo item need to be different.
Is there a way to achieve this?
We could copy the material to another material with different material number but this is not ideal since it will create problems at the backend when updating material data and also causes duplication which we want to avoid.
Any suggestions on how this can be achieved -- e.g. I am sure most companies have demo units which are separate from delivery units how is this scenario managed in those companies?
    Regards
    Anant

    Hi
Use split valuation. Using Split valuation one material can have multiple valuation prices. In your case you can create two Valuation types (Demo and Sale item) for valuation category say XYZ. Then you can manage different price for Demo and Sale item even if the material is same.
Read below example: If you have same material grade A and grade B. Grade A is $100/Kg and Grade B is $80/Kg. This kind of scenario is possible by using Split Valuation.

  • How do I combine 4:3 and 16:9 material in DVDSP for proper playback?

I am a making a demo reel and have 10 short videos. About half are 4:3 and the rest are 16:9. They need to all be on the same track and play back to back, with chapter markers, etc. I want to setup DVDSP properly so that when someone plays the DVD in a widescreen TV, the material looks correct. I realize different flatscreen TVs are setup differently by their owners, so I just want to play it safe. In my previous (many) tests, I can't seem to get it right. The 4:3 always looks fine but the 16:9 looks squished. I've done my testing on my macbook pro and my flatscreen tv. I think this must be a complex discussion due to the nature of TVs getting setup differently, but I would love an intelligent, logical, and easy to understand response to this question. Again, my main goal is to end up with a DVD that plays both 4:3 and 16:9 material in the same track and have it look good on a widescreen tv.

I know you dont want to hear this but you need to have them in seperate tracks to have them display properly. Should be a problem having them play back to back just a small pause as it switches from one track to another.
