Deny Acess to Application pages for Read Permissions

Hi Team
I want to deny access to few application Pages for users with Read Permission.
I have unchecked Permission level "<label for="idspnidViewFormPages">View Application Pages </label>" so i am able to block pages such as
"Pages/Forms/AllItems.aspx"
The Application pages i want to block are
_layouts/1033/selcolor.htm
_layouts/SmtCommentsDialog.aspx
_layouts/1033/fontdlg.htm etc.

Hi,
Per my understanding, you might want to forbid users with Read permission accessing some application pages.
A workaround is that you can apply some JavaScript in the master page to check current user permission and display a warning message or redirect user to other page
accordingly.

Application PC for reader had a big problème

Hello, I need help!
When I connect my Ereader at my computer, the application PC for reader is starting but when the automatic syncronization start, the application is fall down, Window stop it and I cannot utilize the application. It's make my crazy and sad to try a lot of things and nothing is working.

Reordering text on a page for reading

I have been placing Illustrator files in InDesign Documents to find that when it is exported to Acrobat with access tagging in place the Illustrator file is read - fine so far.
BUT - they seems to be no control as to which order the text is read in.
PLEASE add similar control and reordering, as in InDesign, I do not really want to do this in Acrobat with the touch up tool when it can be done at source.

The Help Link from the Application Pages Does not Work for Peoplesoft Campus Solutions 9.0

Hi everyone.
I have a problem, I have been trying to set up the Help Link from the Application Pages for Peoplesoft Campus Solutions 9.0 according to the instructions given in the Document: http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E17566_01/epm91pbr0/eng/psbooks/EnablingtheHelpLinkfromApplicationPages.pdf , (referenced in the Doc ID 1289101.1, E-PB: How to Set Up the Context Sensitive Help with Hosted PeopleBooks using Universal Linking).
I follow the instructions of that document carefully:
I go to: PeopleTools -> Web Profile -> Web Profile Configuration
    2. Then I choose the Web Profile: "Development".
    3. Then Change the value for the Help URL field by entering the following URL format: http://www.oracle.com/pls/topic/lookup?id=%CONTEXT_ID%&ctx=hrcs90r5 , the ctx parameter selected is the one that correspond to the Campus Solutions (hrcs90r5) according to the Product Line Code Table (ULinkID) especified in the mentioned document.
    4. Stop the Web Domain and Clear cache.
    5. Start the Web Domain again.
After setting up the Web Profile Configuration I test the help links, thas is why I click in the Help link in any Peoplesoft CS 9.0 Application Page (modify a person), but the next error message appears: "We're sorry, the topic you requested was not found.".
I tried many combinations with the ctx parameters URL but it does not work yet.
I did the same test, but this time using the Help URL field with a HRMS ctx parameter by entering the following URL format: http://www.oracle.com/pls/topic/lookup?id=%CONTEXT_ID%&ctx=hcm92pbr5 , and It works fine !!!
According to the previous test you realize that It works with HRMS ctx parameter but not with Campus Solutions 9.0 ctx parameter, Does anybody know what else can I do ? Am I doing anything wrong or missing? or maybe the Oracle's ctx parameter for Campus Solutions URL It is broken simply.

2799444 - The page you are testing with appears to be a Workforce Administration page. Is that correct?
The CS PeopleBooks would only work for CS pages, e.g.: try navigating to Main Menu > Campus Community > Personal Information > Add/Update a Person
Also, you can use multiple ctx parameters:
E.g.: http://www.oracle.com/pls/topic/lookup?id=%CONTEXT_ID%&ctx=hrcs90r5&ctx=hcm92pbr5&ctx=pt852pbh2
This way the help would work for the HR related pages like Workforce Administration, Campus Solutions pages like Campus Community and also PeopleTools pages like Web Profile Configuration. Hope this clarifies your question. Thanks!

Why no book-style page-flip transitions for Reader yet???

Does anyone else find it odd that adobe has yet to include in its new versions a book style mode where you can flip facing pages back and forth like a book???? I know I'm not the only person using Reader as my primary pdf ebook reading software. Is this because adobe considers Reader primarily as software for documents, and not ebooks? You'd think Adobe would get wise and make a standalone application specifically for reading pdf ebooks, before Apple or Goodreader outdoes them at their own game. Oh wait, they already have. The only thing they're missing is interactive media capability.

No, pdfs are not ebooks, but a hell of a lot of ebooks are pdfs. I don't see the merit in saying that hardware Reader is intended for couldn't handle the processing required to implement a page-flip. If they really wanted to do it, they could. There are a number of programs now that ebooks in pdf format can be read on, that offer page-flip, search, annotation, highlighting, etc.. These programs do not handle the pdfs as Reader does, but in many ways they're more friendly to use than Reader, as they don't impose a window around the book with menus, toolbars etc., and give the reader more the feel of a book.

Yes, the Mac Pages app is different than the iOS Pages app.
Once you purchase Pages for iPad you can then use it on all your iOS devices (iPhone, iPod) but not on your Mac and vice versa.

More than one custom ResultScriptWebpart in the application page

I am currently working on a scenario where I have to use an application page for search with different tabs showing the results from different Result Sources created at site collection level.
So in the .aspx page, I have added two ResultScriptWebpart instances; one on each tab in the aspx page. One of them displaying results from the 'Local SharePoint Results' (OOTB result source) and using '-Path' parameter i have excluded one
particular SPList from the 'Local SharePoint Results'. The other ResultScriptWebpart displays the result from the SPList which was excluded in the first one.
I am using DataProviderJSON property to specify the 'SourceName', 'SourceLevel' and 'QueryTemplate' which will give the results as I want in the application aspx page. But I am not getting results on both tabs at the same time.
When I use these Result sources on separate test pages, I get results on them both as expected.
Can there be only one ResultScriptWebpart on an aspx page? Any other possible reasons?

In the statement

the second argument should be the id of the binding you want to add. You use twice "JhsUsers" as id for the binding.
This id should be the same id as used in your XML page snippet, so for the first binding it should be "SubjectsActiveVisitsGraph" and for the second binding it should be "SitesActiveVistsGraph"

How to hide _layouts in the URL while accessing an application page

Can we create any friendly URL while accessing any custom application page. I don't want to show _layouts in the URL So how can i mask the URL.

The application pages should be in the _layouts folder (or _admin for application pages for central admin).
You can put pages at friendly urls, but then they should be site pages, which you provision using a "Module" element from Visual Studio. But be aware that then users will be able to modify them using SharePoint designer.
There are methods to achieve this somehow, but you should not do it in sharepoint.

Add a page still visible under the gear even Read permissions for the Pages Library

Hi,
Some of the employees have Read permissions on the Pages Library. The permissions have been broken for this Library.
They still see the 'Add a page' action under the gear. So if they want to create a page, SP asks for a page name and then they received the request to get access.
Is it a bug or is it standard?

I have done a test in my SharePoint 2013 to reproduce your issue, but I can't reproduce the issue.
If the users only have read permission on the Pages Library. They can't see the 'Add a page' action under the gear.
I suggest you use check permission to check the permission for the users, make sure they only have read permission on the Pages library.
Then you can do a test in another library and compare whether the issue is exists. if not, remove the user from the Page library and set read permission for him again.
If the issue still exists, Please offer a screenshot about the issue.

503 error occurs.

Ben (support) - no that's not a time out concurrent connections are a little different then sessions and or connections. Lets say for an example you have 5 images on your site and 5 7 users come to your site this is not 7 concurrent connections but 35. They
do close after awhile hence why the 503 error comes and goes. You can have these connections close sooner using code but this is something you have to research using your favorite search engine

The link provided tells us : All Plesk accounts are limited to 200 simultaneous visitors.
From what Ben (support) says and a little extra research, if those aren't visitors but connections then it's quite easy to max out, especially if the connections aren't closed when finished using. I'd suggest forwarding this to Kasem to see what he thinks.

Have been using firefox for years but now having many problems two days ago could not acess any web pages without a firefox message saying page could not be ver

Went on the internet on Friday but a box appeared saying firefox could not verify web page and somebody could be trying to impersinate the web page this was my home page it gave me two options the first was get me out of here or that I understood the risks and to continue I clicked the latter and my home page came up this box continued to appear on each occasion I tried to acess any web pages but when I tried to acess Facebook the box only gave me the option of get me out of here it also did this when I tried to acess Mozilla Firefox to see whether there was a problem with the browser I tried to reinstall the browser but the problem persisted I finally got round the problem by reinstalling my computer to an earlier time before I did this I also have the option for Google chrome on my computer and this browser worked fine Facebook etc I prefere Firefox but although the warning box hasn't materialised since I reset my computer Firefox has become unstable where it has frozen on a web page and the only way I can get out is to start the task manager and end the programme even though the task manager is saying that the page is still working correctly but after I have ended the running of the programme it will not reload the firefox browser but again google chrome is fine I have to restart the computer to fix this problem any ideas thanks.

A simple way is to flatten the form fields, which converts the field appearances to regular page contents. You can do this with JavaScript or PDF Optimizer (Advanced > PDF Optimizer > Discard Objects > Flatten form fields). A very nice script that adds a custom menu item can be found here: http://www.uvsar.com/projects/acrobat/flattener/
