Create an AIP, patch the AIP, and deploy via your favorite method.

Acrobat 9.1 Update - Silent Install / Deploy is not "Silent" or Quiet
When Installing and/or Deploying the Update for Acrobat Pro/Std 9.0 in Silent mode:
    AcroProStdUpd910_T1T2_incr.msp /q /l adobe91.log
    AcroProStdUpd910_T1T2_incr.msp /qn
I get a "File Transfer" like status window that pop's up.
It is very brief, and all is well.
The problem is we're trying to reach 0% intrusion on the customers that this will be deployed to.
Is there another slash that is missing or does the install process just have this and we'll have to live with it?
I ran the patch in normal mode and you can see the pop-up during the install process in-between:

    Please Advise.
    Thank you.

I know this post is a few months old, but for those that still need the info:
Updating Adobe Acrobat Professional from 9.0.0 to 9.1.2
    1. Download the 2 patches, AcroProStdUpd910_T1T2_incr.msp (this updates to 9.1.0) and AcrobatUpd912_all_incr.msp (this updates to 9.1.2) and place them in the same folder.
If you are already at 9.1, you don't need the first patch.
    2. Copy the AcroPro.msi file from C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 9.0\Setup Files\guid (I didn't feel like typing out the whole string) to the folder with the patches.  This is where the setup placed this file for my installation of CS4; your location could be in a different spot.
    3. Create your script with the following 2 lines:
    msiexec /p "%installdir%\AcroProStdUpd910_T1T2_incr.msp" /qn /norestart REINSTALL=ALL REINSTALLMODE=omus
    msiexec /p "%installdir%\AcrobatUpd912_all_incr.msp" /qn /norestart REINSTALL=ALL REINSTALLMODE=omus
Substitute your path to the folder with the patch files for %installdir% above.
Obviously, this procedure is for updating Windows only.  This was only tested on Windows XPSP3 with Adobe Acrobat Professional 9.0.0 as installed as part of CS4 Master Collection.

You won't be able to install your original Acrobat 7 at all, or use your original serial number. The server which used to allow this was switched off.
But assuming you have a compatible system, like Mac OS 5 or Windows XP, licensed users of Acrobat 7 can download a replacement and get a replacement serial number.

  • Deploying Acrobat X updates?

We originally deployed Acrobat Pro 10.0.3. We created an AIP using 10.0 and the 10.0.3 MSP file. Now that 10.1 is out, we would like to update our machines. I was reading the enterprise guide and from my initial understanding, it seems we need to deploy Acrobat to every user--we can't just push out an update. Is this correct? Is there no way to simply push out the MSP file to have the machines update to the latest version? Thanks!

Here's a follow up question, with my current work flow and understanding:
Acrobat is installed to machines via GPO pointing to an AIP.
When there is a patch, the patch is applied to a fresh 10.0 AIP, the old AIP is replaced, and the GPO is set to 'redeploy'.  This in effect uninstalls the previous instance of the software, and installs the new version in it's place.
It works, but requires keeping or making a new 10.0 AIP to patch each time (a minor annoynce), the time to completely uninstall and reinstall Acrobat, and the network traffic to completely reinstall a 1+ GB application to every machine that has Acrobat installed.
Some people put out command lines that would install a msp to a previous installation. Can this command line be integrated into the same GPO, such that the patch is applied via GPO to those machines it is already applied to?
If not, what method is being used to run this command line on all pertinant machines, given that there is no guarantee that each machine will be online or available at any given instance (even better, it is possible, say if it were a laptop, that the machine may not be online for a month or more).
Using the first 'Full Reinstallation from a patched AIP' method is ugly, but works as a 'set it and forget it' method.  Can the 'command line patch' be set up in a 'set it and forget it' manner as well?
Reading through the Enterprise Deployment Guide, using the AIP is the only method mentioned in the GPO section.  So, anyone 'moving away from an AIP model', how do you accomplish this (or 'how do you accomplish this without additional software such as SCCM, which would be a whole new ball of wax with it's own problems, at least from what I've already read in this thread, and a huge overhead to implement to take care of the very few applications we would need it for).
    Thanks for the input!

  • Deploying Acrobat 9.0

I am  deploying Acrobat Pro 9.0 to a group of computers, sharing the same license. I have a Software Distribution folder where I will deploy the .msi from using a GPO. The problem is, I need to incorporate the serial number in to the install. In the administator manual it says to do this:
For any application that you deploy (other than a transform you created by using Adobe
Customization Wizard 9), you must edit the Abcpy.ini file to contain the serial number information
for the application. To edit this file, right-click the file name and select Properties. Then, clear
the Readme check box and type the serial number information in the OEM Installation Options
box. Make sure you then place the edited Abcpy.ini file at the distribution point
The problem is that there is no Abcpy.ini file in the folder Acrobat installed to. Do i need to create this file?
Also, there are a bunch of patches that have been released since 9.0 came out. I will patch the .msi with all those patches up to 9.3.3
Can I just push that one 9.3.3 msi patch out? Or does all or the versions need to be available in the software distribution folder?

  • Deploying Acrobat X in VDI environment

    Hi
we're moving to a VDI environment in our organization with Windows 7 image.
one of the goals is to have the minimum amount of master images for the users. therefore only components and middleware are installed on the master image and our main solution for dynamic deploying of applications is Microsoft App-V.
now the issue is with deploying Acrobat X (Standard or Pro). Acrobat X can be packaged with App-V but one of the main features that don't work is to grab a docx file and convert it to PDF.
I thought it's because the Adobe PDF printer is missing from the package though I tried to installed it locally and still I didn't manage to oporate it so I'm not sure if this is the problem and obviously not that easy to debug.
    the error message is :
Unable to find "Adobe PDF" resource files. Do you want to run the installer in repair mode?
as Adobe Acrobat is one of the most common 3rd party software in the market I wanted to hear what Adobe has to offer for companies that are headed for this type technology. I know that for example Adobe Reader XI comes with the App-V Deployment kit that installs all the necesary components of the product locally in order to deploy the software by App-V with all the features available, but I didn't find anything similar for Acrobat XI.
obviously my last option is to add 2 seperate images (one with Acrobat Pro and one with Standard) and have a security group for every group of product users. but it's the hardest to maintain.
hope to get a solution from you here
    thanks

    Hi Tomtomlevy,
I can't give you the good answer you deserve because App-V was not supported in X. However, it's apparently been delivered that way successfully by many admins. Probably the component you need is PDFMaker, but I'm not sure.
In any case, maybe someone who has experience will post here, but you may have better luck on an App-V forum.

  • How to package and deploy Acrobat Standard without a Serial Number?

    Hello,
In our environment we package applications without Serial Numbers depending on what it is.  We do this so we can actively manage applications and we don't need to buy a licence for each and every user.  If you never run the app, you don't need a licence, if you leave the firm we know what licenced apps you have and so can redeploy to someone who needs it.
How can we deploy Acrobat Standard to some of our users without a S/N attached?  I've deployed Acrobat Pro using the trial software, when the user fires up Pro they have to enter a Serial Number before they can move on.  Is there such a feature for Standard?
We really don't want to have to do a manual install for 60+ machines it would be a massive waste of time.
Any thoughts on the best way to proceed here?
    Thanks
    Mark

Those numbers should be on the internet. Apologies if my answers are confusing. I'll try again:
You can't deploy without a serial number.
    You need a volume license.
Use the Wizard to customize the installer.
The Wizard allows you to preserialize the installer.
Updates don't need to be serialized. Just chain the latest update with the base install as described in the Admin Guide. Alternatively, you can do it later.
As far as adding seats, I don't know the answer. The Admin Guide links to licensing FAQs, but you can also try the Licensing Web Site, support, or your sale's person. You could also try creating another thread with the "add seat" question in the title.

  • Where can I get the full install?

I want to deploy firefox to several computers at my company. Where can I find licensing info and get a download of the full install?

That should be the whole installer, but if it isn't at least 10 megabytes, you could hit up the FTP server:

  • Deployed Acrobat XI and Dreamweaver CS5/CS6 MSI issue

    Hello everybody,
After many hours trying different cases I identified my problem, but I don't have any solution !
I deployed Acrobat XI with an MSI created with the Adobe tool.
When I wanted to deploy Adobe Dreamweaver CS5 (or CS6) created with Adobe Application Manager Enterprise Edition I had a 1603 error.
If I install the Dreamweaver MSI without having Acrobat installed no problem.
If I install Dreamweaver manually with Acrobat MSI installed no problem.
If I install manually Acrobat and deploy the Dreamweaver MSI package no problem neither.
I recreated both Acrobat and Dreamweaver packages, but it's all the same!
If you have any idea that could help it will be welcome !

  • Deploying Acrobat DC with Creative Cloud Packager

How are you guys deploying Acrobat DC with the Creative Cloud Packager?
In this Adobe's article for the CC Packager, it says, "For Acrobat DC, Exception Deployer Application is not required. For Acrobat DC, you only need to run the setup.exe ... you need to run the main CCP package msi after running the Acrobat DC setup.exe. However you need to run Exception deployer in postmode, if there are other application (except Acrobat DC) in the Exceptionsfolder of win package."And when they say, "run the setup.exe", they actually mean from the command line using a bunch of (undocumented?) parameters.I noticed that when I run the Exception Deployer in post mode, it deploys Acrobat DC, contrary to what the article says.
This topic first appeared in the Spiceworks Community

    Hi Ric,
the licensing information is installed by the setup.exe or the MSI in the "build" directory, so you need to execute that as well, e.g.
    cd Exceptions\APRO15.0en_US\Adobe Acrobat\
    start /wait msiexec /i "AcroPro.msi" /qn /lv* %TEMP%\AcrobatInstall.log
    cd ..\..\..\Build
    start /wait msiexec /i "PackageName.msi" /qn /lv* %TEMP%\PackageName.log
    cd ..\Exceptions
    ExceptionDeployer --workflow=install --mode=post
Note that if you choose to use the msiexec method to install Acrobat, the default language will be determined by the operating system language.
The ExceptionDeployer is necessary for the possibility there are other applications in the package (e.g. Edge Code, Scout) which need to be installed after the main "build" directory's packages.
    Hope that helps,
    Dominic

Also, there are a bunch of patches that have been released since 9.0 came out. I will patch the .msi with all those patches up to 9.3.3
Can I just push that one 9.3.3 msi patch out? Or does all or the versions need to be available in the software distribution folder?

    Hello,
Get the new admin guide and an updating quick key here: http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/837/cpsid_83709.html. The quick key should answer your questions re what to install. For Acrobat, you need to update with all the patches individually.
Regarding preserialization of the license, that file should be on your CD or web download with all the other files. When you find the file, open it and set
    ISX_SERIALNUMBER.
It sounds like you might want to use the Customization Wizard to tweak the app first (turn off the EULA, set security, etc.). Doing so modifies the boostrapper's Setup.ini file. You can set ISX_SERIALNUMBER in wizard, in setup.ini manually, or on the command line.

  • HT201456 I have tried to install Windows 8.1 64 on my new Mac Book Pro from a full install disc.

I have tried to install Windows 8.1 64 on my new Mac Book Pro from a full install disc. When I get the the choice of partitions to install Windows 8.1 on the Windows installer says that the Bootcamp partition is not valid.
Has anyone encountered the same issue?

BCA creates the partition as FAT, which the installer needs to format.

  • Is it possible to have 64-bit 11g Full Install and 32-Client on 1 computer?

    Here's why I ask:
I have installed a full 64-bit 11g R2 install on my Windows 7 D: drive, installed two DB's, worked great. Then I realized application I need to support (Cognos 10.1) requires 32-bit client (for drivers) so I installed the 11g client also on D: drive as well (for space reasons).
My problem is that my registry only shows one ORACLE_HOME--the 64-bit full install whereas Cognos reqs to point to 32-bit client.
My sqlplus in the 64-bit OH worked fine (D:\oracle\app\dock\product\11.2.0\dbhome_1\BIN\sqlplus.exe) whereas the 32-bit client sqlplus (D:\oracle\client\app\dock\product\11.2.0\client_1\BIN\sqlplus.exe) did not work. The error was:
    SQL*Plus: Release 11.2.0.1.0 Production on Mon Sep 26 18:02:30 2011
Copyright (c) 1982, 2010, Oracle. All rights reserved.
    Enter user-name: cognos
    Enter password:
    ERROR:
    ORA-12560: TNS:protocol adapter error
Any login id (sys, system, etc) gave same error. 64-bit sql-plus worked fine. If I opened a cmd prompt and navigated to the 32-bit sqlplus under the client this WOULD work to login (but then I noticed it was using the 64-bit ORACLE_HOME and PATH settings if I typed set). In order to fix Cognos, I changed my ORACLE_HOME and path to point to the 32-bit client (i.e. from D:\oracle\app\dock\product\11.2.0\dbhome_1 to
    ORACLE_HOME = D:\oracle\client\app\dock\product\11.2.0\client_1
    PATH = D:\oracle\client\app\dock\product\11.2.0\client_1\bin;C:\Program Files (x86)\NVIDIA Corporation\PhysX\Common;%SystemRoot%\system32;%SystemRoot%;%SystemRoot%\System32\Wbem;%SYSTEMROOT%\System32\WindowsPowerShell\v1.0\;C:\Program Files\ThinkPad\Bluetooth Software\;C:\Program Files\ThinkPad\Bluetooth Software\syswow64;C:\Program Files\Intel\WiFi\bin\;C:\Program Files\Common Files\Intel\WirelessCommon\
Guess what? This stopped both the 64-bit and 32-bit sqlplus from working, even after bouncing the computer. Now the listener (64-bit) OracleOraDb11g_home1TNSListener will also not start either.
Sooooo, I think I need to set the OH and PATH back to the 64-bit as that is what the Listener requires but any ideas how to get the 32-bit sqlplus to also work?!? The Cognos application appears to use the default server settings (most likely from ORACLE_HOME and Path) and in it I just type the name of the database and connection string, there's no real way to point it anywhere to differentiate. If it doesn't find 32-bit drivers it throws an error hence the reason I need the client sqlplus, etc to work.
Thanks in advance for any help!
