Deploy, IIOP connection, Unable to connect to Oracle 8i using IIOP
Hi,
I have a working JDBC connection to my Oracle 8i Enterprise DB server but when i try to establish a IIOP connection to the same server i get the following error message:
"Can4t find resource for bundle oracle.aurora.jndi.sess_iiop.Messages, key UNKNOWN_SERVICE:default"
The connection params are as follows:
JDBC4s URL jdbc:oracle:thin:@leobeln:1521:Prueba
IIOP4s URL
sess_iiop://leobeln:2481:Prueba
Same user for both connections: scott
Some ideas ?
TIA,
P
Pedro
If you haven't done so already, I suggest you try to establish the IIOP connection using JDeveloper's connection manager.
You can use Net8 assistant to check that you have a port set up to receive IIOP connections. Instructions are in the Net8 administrator's guide; in the Oracle 8.1.6 documentation it's in chapter 7, "Configuring the Listener", under the subheading "Configuring Listening Addresses for Oracle8i JServer". Check that you have a port set up to receive IIOP connections, and make sure that you're using that port number when setting up the IIOP connection in JDeveloper.
The Oracle8i documentation is available on this site - select Documentation from the menu on the left.

Lost Connection - Unable to Connect to Server
PS Touch 1.7.0 on an iPad running iOS 8.1 with a paid CC subscription. PS Touch will not sync, will not show my storage level on Creative Cloud, and when attempting to load a photo from my CC, I get "Lost Connection - Unable to Connect to Server". I tried all the suggested fixes (clearing sync databases all over the place, multiple uninstall/reinstall cycles, etc.) on this board to no avail.
Since all my other CC-enabled mobile apps work, as do the desktop apps on my Windows desktop and MacBook Pro laptop, I have to believe this is on the server side at Adobe. Of course, this being Adobe, nothing but silence. Completely unacceptable - the app may only be $10, but the connected service is $600/yr.It is morning on November 15 and I started the Photoshop touch app to see what it's current status was. I was pleased to see that the storage level usage indicator was no longer blank. Then I turned on the sync function and watched to my horror as every project of which there are many was removed from the app. Next to my surprise all the projects were loaded into the app. Just when I began to think everything was fixed all the projects were deleted from the app. I logged on to my creative cloud account and discovered that all the projects were still in the cloud. These projects represent several years and hours and hours of work. While the creative cloud continues to contain all of the projects the app is now stuck in a mode where the app deletes all the projects and then downloads all the projects and then deletes all the projects and then downloads all the projects etc. in a continuous and never ending cycle. Needless to say this is quite nerve-racking and frustrating. Adobe support are you out there? What is going on with the Photoshop touch app and the creative cloud sync function? I thought the situation was bad before today. But Adobe somehow managed a new element in providing an unreliable service. Please, please resolve this problem.

No suitable driver when connect MS SQL server from Oracle 10g using JTDS
Hi,
I have developed a java servlet application connection to MS SQL using jtds-1.2.jar. I have try to deploy this application to Oracle 9ias and it works fine.
However, when I deploy the same application to Oracle 10g (10.1.2.0.2), I encounter this error - java.sql.SQLException: No suitable driver.
I have copy the jtds-1.2.jar to Ora10g/jdbc/lib, Ora10g/j2ee/home/lib and also the Ora10g/j233/OC$J_GENERAL/applications/sampleApp/sampleApp/WEB-INF/lib folder, and also setup the data source via the EM interface. The data-source.xml entry is as follows:
<data-source location="jdbc/ess" class="com.evermind.sql.DriverManagerDataSource" xa-location="jdbc/xa/essS" ejb-location="jdbc/ess" connection-driver="net.sourceforge.jtds.jdbc.Driver" username="scott" url="jdbc:jtds:sqlserver://202.xx.xx.xx:1433/sampleDB" inactivity-timeout="30" name="ess"/>
</data-sources>
Is there any configuration that I've forgotten to set?>

Is there any configuration that I've forgotten to set?The JAR file needs to be in a place the container can locate it correctly. This is the applib directory for your OC4J instance.
Which I believe from what you have entered is:
Ora10g/j2ee/OC4J_GENERAL/applib
There's a general JDBC 3rd party driver set of documentation here:
http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B14099_11/web.1012/b14012/datasrc.htm#sthref592
This is not using jtds-1.2.jar but it shows how another set of 3rd party jdbc libs are used with the server.

Application cannot connect to second page when oracle is used as database.
Hi,
I have an application which works on MySql database. But now I need to change the database to oracle. I have installed everything required inorder for the oracle to work. I am using active record store for my application. For that I have created sessions table using
rake db:sessions:create
And I have migrated to my database using
rake db:migrate.
Then I uncommented the following line in environment.rb:
config.action_controller.session_store = :active_record_store
Then If I start my application using IE, First page is shown, when I click on the second page link,
I got HTTP 500 Internal Server Error saying
The website cannot display the page
HTTP 500
Most likely causes:
The website is under maintenance.
The website has a programming error.
What you can try:
Refresh the page.
Go back to the previous page.
More information
I am unable to understand what the problem is. When I comment the line config.action_controller.session_store = :active_record_store application works, but the sessions table is not updated. when I use MySql as my database, everything works fine.
Can someone please help me with the solution? what may be the mistake am doing?Please provide more information about this issue.
Are you using oracle_enhanced adapter? (activerecord-oracle_enhanced-gem)
Which Rails version are you using?
Can you look in your log file what exception you are getting? (if running in development mode then it should be in log/development.log)

Unable to insert into oracle db using times ten
I have a times ten 6.0 installation on my m/c connected to an oracle 10.2.0.2 database. The database is a remote database. My application is deployed to oracle application server (10.1.3.1 SOA). I am getting the following SQLException when I try to insert.the first row.
java.sql.SQLException: [TimesTen][TimesTen 6.0.4 ODBC Driver][TimesTen]TT5105: OCI initialization failed. -- file "bdbEnv.c", lineno 275, procedure "ttBDbEnvAlloc"
My env is as follows
OS = Windows 2000
DataSource = User DSN
First Connection
Permanent Data Store = 100
Temporary Data Store = 50
Connections = 20
Synchronous write through cache
I tried a select on the table before insert and it worked. Using ttisql I can insert into this table without any problem. Using a standalone java program I am able to insert data into this table. But from within an appserver I am facing this issue.
Thanks in advance for any help.
Regards,
Mahesh.Jimmyb,
Are you logged in as the user that owns that table?
Yes.
If yes, then there are no triggers on this table.
That is true.
You will need to populate the ID column with your insert statement.
Just did that.
Usually, the sequence is very similar to the table name.
Yes I tried few of them in my sql query and it said "sequence cannot be found"
Isn't there some way that it will list the name of the sequence currently being used in a table? -
Starting last night, after an update, I am no longer able to use Firefox.

MaraHello Mara, see if the next is helpful : [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/firefox-cant-load-websites-other-browsers-can Firefox can't load websites but other browsers can]
also, try to boot the computer in [http://windows.microsoft.com/en-hk/windows/start-computer-safe-mode#start-computer-safe-mode=windows-7 Windows Safe mode with network support] (press F8 on the boot screen) and check firefox again.
(If works in Windows Safe mode then probably you have problem with other software, like security software or maybe a system driver, that is running on your computer).

Hi All,
How to connect the Oracle database using C/C++ on Mac OS X? I have used Instant Client library "instantclient-basic-macosx-10.1.0.3" provided by the Oracle but could not be success. I'm using PowerPC G4, Mac OS X 10.4.9, and XCode version 2.4.1.
Specially Mr Oscar Armanini has done this in C on Mac OS X. Please let me know. I would be very thankful to you.
Thanks,
GhufranHi Ghufran
there are two Metalink Notes on using Instant Client with PowerPc Mac:

How to Install, Configure and Test Oracle 10g Instant Client Basic,
SQL*Plus and SDK Packages for Mac OS X
(Runs OCCI sample code - occidml.cpp)
The first Metalink Note uses an OCI examples and it is pasted here below,
in case you don't have a Metalink ID.
The second Metalink Note uses an OCCI example.
I have never used Instant Client (neither on Os X or on other platform),
but I was successful on compiling C programs (no GUI involved) using the
Full Client installed on my PowerBook G4.
I'm a DBA, but I was a developer years ago (about when Oracle 7.3
was considered a giant step forward): I installed the Oracle 10.1 db
(a complicated job for a developer) and I got the Full Client
installed as well, for free, so I was happy to compile one of the demo C sources
(those that you can find in the Oracle Pro*C manuals:
by the way, Oracle Pro*C manuals are really worth reading).
Good luck
Oscar
Applies to: Oracle Server - Enterprise Edition - Version: 10.1.0.3
Apple Macintosh PowerPC
Goal
This article will show you how to install and configure your 10g Instant Client (IC) Software for the Mac.
It will install the following packages:
the Basic package
the SQL*Plus package and
the SDK package
and then test its connectivity to an Oracle database using SQL*Plus.
It will also show you how to setup and test a sample program, cdemo81.c, that uses the Oracle Call Interface (OCI)
to connect to the database.
The sample program is located under the <Instant_Client>/sdk/demo directory.
Solution1. Download the following three (3) files from the Oracle Technology Network (OTN) website.
You will need an account to do this.
Macintosh OS X 10g Instant Client Software
a. instantclient-basic-macosx-10.1.0.3.zip (32,395,622 bytes)
b. instantclient-sqlplus-macosx-10.1.0.3.zip (326,740 bytes)
c. instantclient-sdk-macosx-10.1.0.3.zip (293,913 bytes)
NOTE: The above three (3) files will be updated as new patches are released for the 10g Instant Client software. 10.1.0.3 or later versions (10.1.0.x) of these files may be used similarly with this article.
2. Save the following text into a file called tnsnames.ora:
# If you receive an
# ORA-12154: TNS:could not resolve the connect identifier specified
# error when running the setup script and attempting to connect to Oracle
# from SQL*Plus then the name of your SERVICE NAME (i.e. ORCL) may require
# that you include the DOMAIN (i.e. US.ORACLE.COM) in order to connect successfully.
# To obtain the DOMAIN of your environment, type "hostname" from your shell
# and it should report this information back to you. Configure your SERVICE
# NAME to look like Example 2.
# Example 1
ORCL =
(DESCRIPTION =
(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = database_machine.us.oracle.com)(PORT = 1521))
(CONNECT_DATA =
(SERVER = DEDICATED)
(SID = orcl)
# Example 2
#ORCL.US.ORACLE.COM =
# (DESCRIPTION =
# (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = database_machine.us.oracle.com)(PORT = 1521))
# (CONNECT_DATA =
# (SERVER = DEDICATED)
# (SID = orcl)
3. Save the following text into a file called sqlplus_script.sql:
SELECT user FROM dual;
SELECT sysdate FROM dual;
SELECT 'successful ' AS TEST_RESULTS FROM dual;
exit;
4. Save the following text into a file called setup1:

# NOTE: In order for this script to run successfully
# (A) you MUST have already run the script SETUP1 successfully

# to connect as user SCOTT with password TIGER to a local Oracle database using
# the BEQ-LOCAL network protocol. This will not work.
# (A) You need to make sure you have the SCOTT/TIGER schema created in your database.
# If not, have your DBA create it by running the script "SCOTT.SQL" from your
# <ORACLE_HOME>/rdbms/admin folder.
# (B) You need to modify the CDEMO81.C application to connect to the database
# you have configured inside your TNSNAMES.ORA file.
# (i) Open the CDEMO81.C file located under the <IC>/sdk/demo folder.
# (ii) Find the following line of code:
# (void) OCIServerAttach( srvhp, errhp, (text *)"", strlen(""), 0);
# and change the two empty strings to the SERVICE NAME you are using like so
# (void) OCIServerAttach( srvhp, errhp, (text *)"ORCL", strlen("ORCL"), 0);
# (iii) Save the file.
# (2) You MUST be in the initial directory where you copied all of the files listed
# in script SETUP1. In this same location you will find SETUP2. Run SETUP2 from

# TROUBLE-SHOOTING
# If you receive the following error messages:
# Error - ORA-24327: need explicit attach before authenticating a user
# Error - ORA-03114: not connected to ORACLE
# Then you did not modify the CDEMO81.C application with proper SERVICE NAME
# information. See step 1B under the SETUP section in this script to resolve
# this error.
6. Take all seven (7) files and move them into the same directory on your OS where you want to install the Instant Client software from:
1 - instantclient-basic-macosx-10.1.0.3.zip
2 - instantclient-sqlplus-macosx-10.1.0.3.zip
3 - instantclient-sdk-macosx-10.1.0.3.zip
4 - tnsnames.ora
5 - sqlplus_script.sql
6 - setup1
7 - setup2
7. Open the file tnsnames.ora. Be sure to review the comments in this file. You will have to change the following information to connect to a database on your network:
SERVICE NAME (orcl or orcl.us.oracle.com)
HOST (database_machine.us.oracle.com)
PORT (1521)
SID (orcl)
Save the file.
8. Open the file setup1, go to the end of this script and modify the following line:
./instantclient10_1/sqlplus scott/tiger@orcl @sqlplus_script.sql
Replace orcl with the SERVICE NAME you used in Step 7 above. Save the file.
9. You are now ready to install the 10g Instant Client software for Mac OS X. From the location where your seven (7) files reside, issue the following command:
[macosx]/oracle> . setup1
NOTE: Be sure to include the period "." and a space " " before the word "setup1" so all environment variables persist for the current session.
This will install the Instant Client Basic and SQL*Plus software and connect to the database specified in the tnsnames.ora file.
10. Here is the sample output of a successful execution of the setup1 script:
[macosx]/oracle> . setup1

[macosx]/oracle>
11. Once you have obtained a successful execution of the setup1 script, you are ready to configure cdemo81.c to connect to the database you have configured inside your tnsnames.ora file.
Open the cdemo81.c file located under the <Instant_Client>/sdk/demo folder. Find the following line of code:
(void) OCIServerAttach( srvhp, errhp, (text *)"", strlen(""), 0);
Change the two (2) empty strings to the SERVICE NAME you used in Step 7 above.
(void) OCIServerAttach( srvhp, errhp, (text *)"ORCL", strlen("ORCL"), 0);
Save the file.
12. You are now ready to run cdemo81.c. You MUST issue the following command from the initial directory where you copied all of the files in Step 6:
[macosx]/oracle> . setup2
NOTE: Be sure to include the period "." and a space " " before the word "setup2" so all environment variables persist for the current session.
This script will configure your environment, build and run the OCI sample code connecting to the database specified in the tnsnames.ora file.

Database connectivity in struts ( EJB) with Oracle 9
hi,
We are developing a Banking application using Struts & EJB, & I need to use Oracle 9 as a database. Could anyone please let me know, the professional way of connecting this application to the oracle database using Struts and EJB. A good example will help me a lot, so please give me example code also.
Thanks a lot in advance.
RaghavHello,
For keeping the standby database on same HOST....it does seems to be great...i must be on separate box....may be on different network...i believe you would be using it for some failiover purpose...Isn't it.
For Unix it is quite easy..you may implement like this...The Issue which you are referring may be because of wrong Oracle Home or SID....(i'm not very much sure..) You may try following steps:
1. Create a separate Unix A/c and set ORACLE_HOME and ORACLE_SID relevant to your StandBy Database. I believe the Home would be same whereas SID would be your standby databse.
2. Take a Cold Backup of All your database files from Production.
3. Copy these files on separate mount points for standby Db. Put them all to relevant directory and be sure to set the Group of all these files as "SYSDBA" This is Must.
4. And then modify your INIT.ORA file i.e. InitSID.ora file accordingly and put the file in ORACLE_HOME
5. Login to Newly created Unix A/c. Check whether ORACLE_SID is set ot not to your standby database instance.
6. Login to sys as sysdba and start up the database. It will by default would try to check & do for your relevant Oracle SID for this profile...

Cant go through the setup process...unable to connect
I just recently purchased a z10 from someone, and because i didnt have the device password, i did a security wipe. after the security wipe, the phone isnt giving me the option to connect to a network! (message that i got is below)
Unable to connect
Unable to connect to a network.
Please try changing your settings
<<settings>>
Please assist me as soon as you can...Hi and Welcome to the Community!
You didn't say...what type of network? WiFi? Carrier data network? Something else? You should be able to configure without the SIM inserted as well, via WiFi only, if you simply bypass the carrier network screen.
Or, the OS may be corrupt somehow, and a reload might be needed. You can find instructions here:

3. Apex Listener 1.1.3
4. Apex and Apex Listener running on the Weblogic box above
5. SQL Developer 4.0.2 running on Windows 7 64 bit / Java 1.7.0_55
Updated Apex to 4.2.5 via p17966818_425_Generic.zip patchset. Apex environment running fine as do all applications via Listener 1.1.3
Updated Oracle Listener to the latest version of Oracle REST Data Services 2.0.7
Current Status
Apex Applications and RESTful services are running fine.
Problem
Unable to connect SQL Developer 4.0.2 to Oracle REST Data Services 2.0.7
Error message in SQL Developer - Cannot connect to DEV. HTTP/1.1 403 Target service not allowed
Additional Information
Steps followed -
1. The oracle users APEX_LISTENER and APEX_REST_PUBLIC_USER did not exist, so I ran apex_rest_config.sql from the APEX 2.4.1 patchset whilst connected sys as sysdba and provided the same password as APEX_PUBLIC_USER for both users.
2. I also ran
grant insert, delete on APEX_040200.wwv_flow_rt$privilege_groups to APEX_LISTENER;
alter session set current_schema = APEX_LISTENER;
create or replace synonym wwv_flow_rt$privilege_groups for APEX_040200.wwv_flow_rt$privilege_groups;
as per Oracle SQL Developer User's Guide Release 4.0
3. copied ords.war to apex.war

NOTHING UNUSUAL IN ANY OF THE WEBLOGIC LOG FILES, EXCEPT THAT IT STATES
'Oracle REST Data Services version : 2.0.6.27.18.06' when I've installed 2.0.7.
Any help much appreciatedFurther to the above post, I thought I'd simplify my Apex Listener install just to see if I can connect to it via SQL Developer
So downloaded the latest version 2.0.8 and decided to configure and run the Listener on my pc whilst still connecting to the same database.
Operating system : Window 7 Pro 64 bit
Oracle Apex Listener 2.0.8
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.7.0_25-b17)
Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 23.25-b01, mixed mode)
Went through the configuration as above, once started I tried again to access the listener via SQL Developer. This time I received this output from the listener:
INFO: Error: ORA-02291: integrity constraint (APEX_040200.WWV_FLOW_RT$APPROVALS_SGID_FK) violated - parent key not found, occurred during execution of: [CALL, insert into wwv_flow_rt$approvals (user_name,status,client_id,security_group_id,created_by,created_on,updated_by,updated_on) values(/*in:user_id*/?,/*in:status*/?,/*in:client_id*/?,/*in:tenant_id*/?,upper(/*in:user_id*/?),/*in:created*/?,upper(/*in:user_id*/?),/*in:created*/?), [tenant_id, in, class java.math.BigInteger], [client_id, in, class java.math.BigInteger], [user_id, in, class java.lang.String], [status, in, class oracle.dbtools.rt.oauth.ApprovalRequest$Status], [created, in, class java.sql.Timestamp]]with values: [adminlistener, APPROVED, 3858401374580004, -1, adminlistener, 2014-06-23 12:19:18.785, adminlistener, 2014-06-23 12:19:18.785]
SQL Developer responded with an Authentication Failed titled dialog with the following displayed in the body of the dialog
