Deploy InfoPath Forms across Ms SharePoint environments

Hi,
I have created workflows in MS SharePoint 2010 and added MS InfoPath forms in it. However, when migrating the workflow from DEV to TEST environment, the InfoPath is not included. I would like to export the MS InfoPath form DEV and import it into TEST environment.
I am looking for help regarding the migration. Any help in this regard will be appreciated.

Hi Abhijit,
For migrating workflow with InfoPath Forms in SharePoint 2010,you can refer to the steps as below:
1. Export source files of the form. Open form in InfoPath designer. And because we can't republish it to the different place using wizard (its type is a Workflow form), we should Export source files (from the menu File\Publish) to some folder.
After this step we received a set of files, one of which is "manifest.xsf".
2. Close InfoPath designer.
3. Correct URLs in manifest.xsf Open "manifest.xsf" in a text editor. Find all URL related to the first site collection and replace it with new URLs linked to new site collection. Save the file.
Hint: If you don't know the URL to publish in new site collection, you can open autogenerated form from it in the same manner (look at URLs in its manifest.xsf).
4. Publish changed form. Open InfoPath designer, open corrected manifest.xsf in it and publish it (by pressing the publish button for example).
5. Hurray! The form is deployed to the new place!
You should repeat this steps for all custom InfoPath task forms in your workflow.

  • Unable to change and re-publish existing InfoPath forms on External SharePoint lists (SharePoint 2013 Enterprise Online and On Premise)

    Hi everybody,
I really reached the limit of my diagnostic ability... ...please help me!!!!
I subscribed an Online Sharepoint 2013 Development site to try Business Connectivity Services and InfoPath forms. Using SharePoint Designer 2013 I successfully created an external content type
and an external list, including InfoPath forms.
When I use InfoPath Designer 2013 to customize the forms I can open and change them without any problems, but when I try to publish the changes I made I get the following error:
"An error has occurred. The form template has been published to the server but it can only be opened using InfoPath filler"
(please note that I changed just an existing label, without adding any new control or new fields).
If I try to do exactly the same things but with an normal SharePoint list everything works like a charm!
I noted that the main difference between the internal/external list is that with the internal list the publishing path in InfoPath 2013 is something like:
    https://<sharepointsite>/lists/<listname>
whereas for the external list is something like the following:
     https://<sharepointsite>/lists/<listname>/item/template.xsn
Trying to overcome the problem I installed SharePoint 2013 Enterprise on premise using the VM from the Windows Azure Gallery. In this case the error I get when I try to publish with InfoPath
    Designer 2013 is the following:
The following URL is not valid:
    http://<sharepointsite>/lists/<listname>/item/template.xsn
and of course everything works fine with InfoPath Designer 2013 and regular SharePoint lists.
Even if I believe the problem is in general with external list and InfoPath, my external list is based on a the "Product" table from the "AdventureWorks2012" sample database
installed on SQL Azure and connected to SharePoint via Business Connectivity Services.
    A big
thanks in advance to anyone who is able to
provide useful information to solve the problem!!!
    Regards,
    Fabio

    Hi Folks,
Same issue here for any external list. We've migrated from 2010 to 2013 - it used to be fine on 2010. 2013 seems hang after 'getting site column information' then nothing. All effected users can quick publish to regular sharepoint lists, but cannot to external
    lists.
In our situation we are trying to quick publish to sites using the 2010 look and feel in a 2013 environment. using SharePoint Designer 2013 and InfoPath 2013.

  • InfoPath forms on O365 SharePoint save fine but vanish when submitted.

    Hey there,
I'm a bit stuck on a problem I'm having with InfoPath and Office 365 SharePoint Online that I'm hoping someone might have some insight on.
I have a InfoPath 2013 form that is setup to be run on and submit to a SharePoint Form Library as part of a larger SharePoint workflow.
I can publish the form to SharePoint and when I click new in the form library a new form is created as expected. Once I've completed the form I am able to save the form, give it a file name and close it and it immediately shows up in the form list, everything
    is working perfectly.
However, I don't want the submitters setting their own file name and from a UX perspective I'd like to remove the ribbon altogether and just have a submit button at the bottom of the form and let InfoPath generate a filename based on a predefined convention.
The problem is that when I use the submit functionality — regardless of whether I do it from the Submit button on the ribbon or through the custom button — everything seems to work but the form just vanishes. I never got an error, I saw the 'submitting data
to server' message very briefly, from everything I can see the form should have saved perfectly but it just isn't there.
It's almost as if the form is being saved somewhere on SharePoint but not in the right location but I've been all through the teamsite and I've done a bunch of searching and I can't find any trace of it anywhere.
I've checked the data connection a dozen times, I've even rebuilt the form entirely once or twice and every time save works fine but submit just disappears.
I've also discussed this issue with our developer working on the workflow and he can't think of anything on his end that would cause this to happen.
Any ideas? I really appreciate any help you can give! Thanks!
    Details:
    InfoPath 2013
Form has 50 fields, though only half of them are bound to a form element yet.
There are currently two views but the problem occurs if I just have the single default.

    Hey Lisa,
Sorry for the slow reply, I had to put this on the back burner for a few days.
I do not have any permissions or account related rules in the form, in fact, the only rules I have at all are those attached to the submit button. There are likely some in the workflow, I'll confirm that with the developer working on that component.
In the meantime, I've tried creating another form library on our SharePoint installation as well as one on our clients (both are Office 365/SharePoint Online) and tried deploying the form without the workflow.
The save and close buttons continue to work as expected but using the Submit button on the ribbon gives me the following error:
An error occurred while using the form. For more information, contact the site administrator.
An entry has been added to the Windows event log of the server.
    Log ID:5567
    Correlation ID:c65ed79c-502d-1000-a60d-683cc0a1fca7
Is it even possible to get to the Windows event log of the server on a hosted O365 SharePoint?

  • Hiding submit button from an Infopath form in a Sharepoint Library document

I have a Sharepoint document library that is setup to collect submissions from a form that faces the public.  Because it faces the public it needs to have the standard/familiar submit button.  The problem is that when the form is submitted to the
document library and the document is reviewed, it still contains the button - which will be confusing/complained about by staff.
I attempted to use a hidden boolean field that would switch to "True" when the submit button is clicked and then use conditional formatting to hide the button before submitting through the data connection.  But apparently, there is no way
to move the conditional formatting rules after the action rules that make the boolean swith.
I then tried to switch to a new view that was identical to my Main view before submitting but the button is still appearing on the submitted documents in the form library.
I'm wondering if anyone has experience with this?  I have to think I'm missing something obvious.

    Please try this -

  • Have Infopath form interact with Sharepoint 2013 Workflow

    Situation
I am working on a system having the user fill-in a sequence of list-forms. Form 1 initiates form 2 after closing, Form 2 initiates form 3 after closing etc. This is done by altering the Source= part of the form URL
Form 1 fills list 1 and initiates a workflow to update some fields. This is to prepare some data for form 2. This data is stored in a temporary list
Form 2 fills list 2 gets data from the temporary list and initiates a workflow to update some fields
    Problem
When the second form is started, the workflow of the first is not finished yet. In that case the second form uses the wrong data from list 1.
I want to have form2 waiting for a status update on the first workflow so that the correct data is transferred from form 1 to form2
    Question
How can I delay the presentation/update of a form based on a status of a list workflow. I want to use out-of-the box techniques and avoid program code

No, you cannot submit form values of a acrobat to SharePoint. You can use list form for basic form, else try using jquery to build custom forms as an alternative for infopath. Refer to the following codeplex solution. You could use this or build one similar
to that using the source code.

  • How to submit InfoPath form data to multiple SharePoint lists at one time?

    Hi,
I'm looking for a way to submit certain data in InfoPath form to separate SharePoint lists at the same time. I have a form that has two views with many data in them. I want to keep these data in separate SharePoint list besides keeping them in the XML. I know that you can submit to a form library using SharePoint document library data connection, but I'm not sure if you can use several data connections for submitting data to multiple SharePoint lists. Is it only possible to do using code? If yes, can anyone show a sample. I have never coded in InfoPath, though I used C# a lot in .Net.
    Thank you!Regards,
    R.D.M.

This is an old thread but I tripped over a codeless method to do this with OOB InfoPath 2010 and SP 2010.
Assuming your main InfoPath form is published to a document library with the promoted fields that you want to see.
Publish your form to a new document library to capture the secondary data fields that you want separated out.
Using the Publishing Wizard do the following:
Go to – File then Publish
Select SharePoint Server “ Publish form to a SharePoint Library”
Enter location of your SharePoint or InfoPath Forms Services Site:
accept the default in this field from the first published event
Next screen, keep the default or change it, Form Library, Site Content Type or Admin Approved
Next screen, What do you want to do?
    Create a new form library
Add new document library name and description
Next screen, Remove all promoted fields not applicable to the new library and add all of the ones you want to see data for.
    Click Next and Publish
Come back into the form: If you don’t have buttons added directly to the form to submit or update, add them.
Create a new Action rule on the button
Label the rule to keep it straight
    Condition, occurs when button clicked
    Add action, Submit data
Use data connection to the second library created
Create a second new Action rule on the same button
Label the rule to keep it straight
    Condition, occurs when button clicked
    Add action, Submit data
Use original data connection to the library
Then you can add another action to close the form or do whatever you need.
Republish the form to both libraries to set the template for both.
File – Publish – SharePoint Server
Select Secondary library from drop down follow the rest of the prompts
Follow step 5a again, select Primary library from drop down, Add back in all of the promoted fields needed for the primary library and follow the prompts.
DOCUMENT YOUR FORM WELL FOR MAINTENANCE
Special considerations, your primary library needs a unique ID to reference in your secondary library.
Your secondary library will need a unique ID that is not related to the primary if you are going to store multiple records for a single primary library reference.
    Example: One form, multiple updates.

  • Configuring infopath forms in SharePoint 2013

The below is the error i am getting when i am tried to publish infopath form to a sharepoint list using WCF
A query to retrieve form data cannot be completed because this action would violate cross-domain restrictions.

Create a Data Connection Library in your site
Convert the Data Connection to .udcx file
Give the path to data connection library

  • SharePoint Designer Workflow and Infopath form

    Hi,
I created a workflow that moves an item form one list to another and automatically populates the fields in list No.2. This works ok.
The next stage of the process is for the user to go to list No.2 and complete the rest of the fields manually. In order to do this an InfoPath Form was created. Some of the fileds in the Form are already pre-populated as they were "moved" from
list No. 1 by the workflow. However, not all of them - some of the list fields could not be moved to the InfoPath form (People or Group field type), even though they were automatically populated in list No. 2 by the workflow.
So now in a Form some of the fields are pre-populated and some are not. What is more, they are sort of "blocked" and I cannot enter data even manually.
Is there any remedy to that? I mean - is there a way to have all the fields that were "moved" from list No 1. displayed in an Infopath form for List No. 2?
I will be grateful for any suggestions.
    Thank you.
    Jowita

    Dear Jowita,
This is very much possible with following way assumed that your list 2 is form library:
    1. Whatever fields that you wanted to populate under list no.2 and make them available in InfoPath form, first you need to promote fields as columns (does not create columns directly in list/library and expect them to be in form) in the list
    as shown in below link:
    http://www.bizsupportonline.net/blog/2014/promote-infopath-form-fields-to-sharepoint-library.htm
    2. Now, whenever you will set fields by workflow from list no.1, you will update the fields which were promoted. they will be available in the InfoPath form.
If you find this information as helpful please mark this as ANSWER or HELPFUL. Thanks

  • Domain level security issue with InfoPath Form

I have followed the article “Submitting Data from InfoPath 2007 to a SharePoint List” which can be found at
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc162745.aspx.
But instead I am using SharePoint and InfoPath 2010.
I get the following error after deploying and running the form with its security level set to domain.
“A query to retrieve form data cannot be completed because this action would violate cross-domain restrictions. If this form template is published to a SharePoint
document library, cross-domain access for user form templates must be enabled under InfoPath Forms Services in SharePoint Central Administration, and the data connection settings must be stored in a UDC file in a data connection library in the same site collection.

    Central Administration.”
How do I get this form working on the server and client using domain level security?
Extra Note: On an additional not the form works fine in SharePoint and InfoPath designer when the security level is set to Full Trust.

Hi, Is this possible over a SharePoint "LIST"? I'm hitting brick walls and can't set the Security level on my form at all. Everything that I'm reading refers to Document Libraries but nothing about SharePoint List. It seems that this should work over a list,
but I'm hitting brick walls all the way around. Here is a copy of the question that I posed below under Todd.Wilder's post:
    Hi,
Following this forum question/comment I am attempting to set the security on my Infopath form to Full Trust. But, I don't have the Security and Trust option. I can set the Trusted Location through the Trust Center but I can't find anywhere to set security.
I am using InfoPath 2010. What am I missing? Everything that I'm reading says that this is the problem and my error message is exactly like SomeGuy's message. One more piece to this is...this is a form over an Existing SharePoint List. I've found that I can
see the Security if I start InfoPath and start a New Blank Form, but by editing the form from a SharePont list, the option to edit Security is not there. HELP!!
I am following the instructions below that come from:
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee526352.aspx
The InfoPath form designer automatically selects the appropriate security level (either Restricted or Domain) based on the features that you are using in the form. The security setting is always as restrictive as possible, starting at Restricted, to help
ensure a greater level of protection for you and your data. Users can manually override this automated setting to select a level of security that is more appropriate for the form by following these steps:
Click the File tab, and then click Form Options on theInfo tab.
In the Categories list, click Security and Trust.
Uncheck the Automatically determine security level (recommended) check box.
    Select the desired security level.

  • InfoPath Forms Services Form Upgrade timer job continuously failing

    Hello all,
We've recently uploaded several InfoPath form templates to our production SharePoint 2010 environment (6 server farm).  One of the forms
was still stuck in 'upgrading' (even after it said successful after the upload).  So we deleted that form and re -uploaded it successfully.
Since then we've been seeing the following timer job failures every minute.  The forms all work but the timer job failures still keep
    coming.

    http://blogs.technet.com/b/nishants/archive/2008/10/10/how-to-delete-orphan-configuration-objects-from-sharepoint-farm.aspx
    We have done the following:
Reset timer service on all servers (same job just moves to a different server failing)
removed the suspect InfoPath form and re uploaded (no change)
All servers in the farm rebooted (no change)
    Questions:
Can we just get rid of the failing InfoPath Forms Services Form Upgrade?
Will a new one get created the next time we upgrade a form?
    Thank you,
    Jim

    Hi Jim,
When you upload an administrator-approved InfoPath form template to SharePoint, SharePoint automatically creates a Solution Package for it as well as a Timer Job. When a solution package is deployed in a farm, it will be restored in 14 hives.
Timer jobs are scheduled for execution, but sometimes it can take a long while before a SharePoint timer job gets executed. The timer job created by SharePoint would have a Title similar to Windows SharePoint Services Solution Deployment for “form-[your_uploaded_form_template_name].wsp”.
The Schedule Type for this timer job would be One-time.
If you want to hurry the execution of administrative timer jobs along, you can use the following stsadm command:
    stsadm -o execadmsvcjobs

  • Disable People Picker In Infopath Form on Chrome

    Hi,
we have a sharepoint custom list ,where we customized it with infopath designer
In this form ,we have a button ,which makes a call to the list, and pulls out the details about user Manager if available and some additional details
Always the Manager People picker value is a read only field.and we have a Nintex workflow running post submitting the form.
The Button is simple "GetManagerDetails",which makes a call to the lists web service and gets the data.
WE have disabled this  manager people picker control in Infopath by setting a formatting rule and 1=1 ,which runs everytime.
This works perfectly fine in IE,However in chrome its not working as expected, the manager control is getting enabled.
So we have written a javascrpt to disable it ,which is working fine on load of the form using jquery.
When the user clicks on the button ,its sending a POST request and after that these control is getting enabled again.
If we run the function to disable ,from the console window.the control is getting disabled. But to invoke this function post the click event ,
I tried several options as below
Window.load() which is working only on form load
using PageRequestManager, and calling add_endrequest() is also not working
setTimeout () in Javascript is not working either.
Is there any way we can execute after that postback,I tried to attach callbacks in jquery which is not working either.
Please help if anybody has any other ideas.

    Hi Sophie,
According to your description, my understanding is that you want to send InfoPath form to  the individual  selected in the people picker via email.
I am afraid you cannot. Due to the limitation of connecting InfoPath forms  to a SharePoint Online web service, you cannot get the individual's email address and then cannot send email to him.

  • Issues while submitting infopath form

hi, i am using sharepoint online version(office 365). i have created infopath form.published it to the shatrpoint list. while submitting the new  form the previous data got deleted.help to solve this. thanks in adavance

    Hi,
As I understand, when submitting the new form the previous data got deleted.
Can you give me the screenshots when you view and edit the item with InfoPath form in the list?
You could follow the troubleshooting steps below:
    1. Check if there is custom code in the SharePoint list page.
    2. You could change to the default SharePoint form and delete the InfoPath form.
Then republish the InfoPath form. Check if it can work.
    3. You could edit data in another browser to check if the same situation will occur.
    4. You could create another InfoPath form for the SharePoint list to check if it can work.
