Deploy multiple EJBs

Hi there,
after I got my first session bean running, I want it to make use of an entity bean. I want to deploy all beans at once, so the can share parts in the xml-deployment descriptor.
Unfortunately 'deployebj' (or in detail ejbdescriptor) complains saying :
'Can not deploy multiple beans in one deployment descriptor'
Has anybody an idea how to fix this as this is required for ejb1.1 and j2ee conformance, about which oracle says IAS9i complies to - so it should be possible.

Hi,
I have a doubt here while deploying multiple EJBs in one instance of Oracle 10g Application Server (either in OC4J standalone or in complete suite).
In my case, I have multiple jars and each jar has its own ejb-jar.xml and in this case, I was not able to figure out how to write my jndi.properties.
We want to have only one jndi.properties file. We do a look-up using RMIInitialContextFactory. Is it ok, if I give the following in my jndi.properties for provider url?
java.naming.provider.url= opmn:ormi://<opmn_host>:<opmn_port>:<oc4j_instance>/<application-name1>, opmn:ormi://<opmn_host>:<opmn_port>:<oc4j_instance>/<application-name2>, opmn:ormi://<opmn_host>:<opmn_port>:<oc4j_instance>/<application-name3>, [and so on (till application-name[b]n) for all the EJBs present.]
Will this work, and if it is so, is it correct?
If not, can some one please help me out for this particular scenario.
Thanks a lot for participation.
Regards,
Prashanth Babu.

  • Deploy multiple instances of the same stateless session EJB

    I have a stateless session bean.
    The methods on the bean operate against DB tables.
    Q: Can I deploy multiple instances of the same stateless session bean, but specify a different JNDI/datasource name in the deployment descriptor?
    The method calls are all enclosed within a single invocation, just that I need to hit different databases (all with the same schema), and Id like to be able to lookup the EJB via a different JNDI name, and have the exact same functionality, just against different deployed datasources.
    Does the spec allow/support this?
    If not, any suggestions as to how to achieve this sort of functionality?
    Im using JBoss 3.2.1 on Solaris, so Im not sure whether or not this is a JBoss "issue" or a limitation of the EJB Spec (or me being just plain wrong and trying to do something the "wrong way")

    NickI haven't done it but judging from the deployment descriptors yes.
    For example if I have two bounded datasources java:/Database1 and java:/Database2
    Lets say I have a session bean called MySession, then in your ejb-jar.xml you would have (notice that the desc, display, and ejb-name are the only differences)
    <session>
    <description>MySessionAlpha</description>
    <display-name>MySessionAlpha</display-name>
    <ejb-name>MySessionAlpha</ejb-name>
    <home>com.mycorp.MySessionRemoteHome</home>
    <remote>com.mycorp.MySessionRemote</remote>
    <local-home>com.mycorp.MySessionLocalHome</local-home>
    <local>com.mycorp.MySessionLocal</local>
    <ejb-class>com.mycorp.MySessionFacadeBean</ejb-class>
    <session-type>Stateless</session-type>
    <transaction-type>Container</transaction-type>
    <resource-ref>
    <res-ref-name>jdbc/DataSource</res-ref-name>
    <res-type>javax.sql.DataSource</res-type>
    <res-auth>Container</res-auth>
    </resource-ref>
    </session>
    <session>
    <description>MySessionBeta</description>
    <display-name>MySessionBeta</display-name>
    <ejb-name>MySessionBeta</ejb-name>
    <home>com.mycorp.MySessionRemoteHome</home>
    <remote>com.mycorp.MySessionRemote</remote>
    <local-home>com.mycorp.MySessionLocalHome</local-home>
    <local>com.mycorp.MySessionLocal</local>
    <ejb-class>com.mycorp.MySessionFacadeBean</ejb-class>
    <session-type>Stateless</session-type>
    <transaction-type>Container</transaction-type>
    <resource-ref>
    <res-ref-name>jdbc/DataSource</res-ref-name>
    <res-type>javax.sql.DataSource</res-type>
    <res-auth>Container</res-auth>
    </resource-ref>
    </session>
    But now in the jboss.xml, we will have the following elements. What you may notice is that are bound to different remote and local jndi names. But the resource bindings are very different. The res-ref-name stays the same, but the jndi-name are different. I think this will work for you.
    <session>
    <ejb-name>MySessionAlpha</ejb-name> <jndi-name>ejb/com/mycorp/MySessionAlphaRemoteHome</jndi-name> <local-jndi-name>ejb/com/mycorp/MySessionAlphaLocalHome</local-jndi-name>
    <resource-ref>
    <res-ref-name>jdbc/datasource</res-ref-name>
    <jndi-name>java:/Database1</jndi-name>
    </resource-ref>
    </session>
    <session>
    <ejb-name>MySessionBeta</ejb-name> <jndi-name>ejb/com/mycorp/MySessionBetaRemoteHome</jndi-name> <local-jndi-name>ejb/com/mycorp/MySessionBetaLocalHome</local-jndi-name>
    <resource-ref>
    <res-ref-name>jdbc/datasource</res-ref-name>
    <jndi-name>java:/Database2</jndi-name>

  • Multiple ejb modules

    Welcome evry body, i need your help since i am new to ejb technology.
    I have a J2EE application with multiple ejb modules, my problem is how to
    make ejb1 located in ejb-module1 instantiate ejb2 located in ejb-module2
    in my ejb-module1 ejb-jar.xml deployment descriptor i put this :
    <session>
       <ejb-name>ejb1</ejb-name>
       <local-home>....</local-home>
       <local>...</local>
       <ejb-local-ref>
            <ejb-ref-name>ejb/ejb2</ejb-ref-name>
            <ejb-ref-type>Entity</ejb-ref-type>
            <local-home>....</local-home>
            <local>...</local>
            <ejb-link>ejb-module2.jar#ejb2</ejb-link>
       </ejb-local-ref>
    </session>When i deploy my application and try to access it i get this exception :
    javax.naming.NamingException: No EJB found at location 'ejb-module2.jar_ejb2'So is there any way to fix this problem?

    Hi Javist,
    Assuming you've double-checked that the target module(ejb-module2.jar) and
    target ejb-name (ejb2) are correct, and that both ejb-jars are packaged at the same level in the .ear, everything looks fine to me. Which J2EE implementation are you using? It's possible it's a bug. You can also try the shorthand of just
    <ejb-link>ejb2</ejb-link>
    If there's only one ejb with that name in the entire .ear, that should work even without the explicit ejb-jar path reference.

  • How can I deploy multiple fonts with the ProfileManager

    I tried to add more than just one Font using the ProfileManager on Mac OS X Server 3.1.1
    There appears just one line to add one Font file. Do I need to combine all my fonts into one file to deploy it?
    Don't see a way to add more Font Payloads.

    I spoke to Apple's Enterprise support today about this problem, and the representative said that he is going to report this "issue" to Engineering. Not sure what this means, but I thought I would let you know.
    If you are trying to deploy multiple fonts to iOS devices, they suggested that I use Apple Configurator, which is available for free in the Mac App Store...

  • Deploying multiple applications to a single collection quickly

    Hi,
    I've been looking for a way to quickly deploy multiple applications to a collection in the SCCM 2012 console. Is there any way to select a group of applications and deploy them all to be available to a collection? I can do them one by one, but I have a ton
    of applications to test and this is going to be very time consuming. If there is a powershell method, I would be open to that as well. Unfortunately, I couldn't find any topics on this on the forums or on the internet.
    Thanks!

    You also might consider to create an super application, and the set all other applications as dependencies to it (but NOT in the same group, only as separate groups). The super application will only modify a registry key or a file as a flag for detection.
    In that case you need to deploy only the super application. But I afraid it's against the best practices. I'm going that for a multi-component application to install all support components.

    Hi All,
    I am unable to deploy a EJB 3.0 Session bean with no deployment descriptors to OAS 10.1.3.4 App server.This Session bean is also exposed as a web service using annotations. I am able to deploy this bean to a standalone oc4j 10.1.3.x containers and test it successfully.

  • Problem deploying entity ejb CMP

    hello
    when i deploy CMP entity bean in weblogic 5.1
    i get an error "could not make connection to pool"
    i am using oracle thin driver. connection pool
    is created when i start the server but bean could not deploy
    please help
    thanx

    First, set the server to display all logging messages (not just errors), then when you deploy the ejb see what messages happen. I had similar problems when we were deploying on Weblogic 7.0 (with thin Oracle driver).
    Also, be sure you have downloaded the latest Oracle driver classes12.zip file and put it into the weblogic server directory - that can cause problems too.

  • Problem deploying related EJBs in separate JARs

    I have 2 entity EJBs, User and Address, in separate JAR files. The User bean
    has business methods to get and set its related address as follows:
    void setAddressPK(AddressPK newAddress) throws java.rmi.RemoteException;
    AddressPK getAddressPK() java.rmi.RemoteException;
    When I try and load User.jar in the EJB Deployment tool it complains that it
    can't find the AddressPK class. However, I can get round this by explicitly
    adding Address.jar to the classpath.
    When I actually deploy and use the User bean I do NOT need Address.jar on
    the classpath, although I do get warnings during deployment.
    So my question is how do I package and deploy related EJBs. I don't want to
    have to have all my EJBs in the same JAR, nor do I want to have the same
    classes in more than one JAR. Is what I'm doing correct - am I supposed to
    have Address.jar on the classpath? And what about an utility classes that
    are shared between EJBs - where do I put those?
    Thanks in advance,
    Steve.

    I resolved the problem be making sure that my deployment
    jars don't appear in my servlet classpath....

    In general, if two beans are related (i.e. you can not compile one
    without the other being on the classpath) and they are both deployed
    they should be in the same jar file. If you do not deploy one of them,
    then the undeployed bean can be in the weblogic.class.path with no
    problem.
    I suspect that you are getting a ClassCastException because you have the
    deployment jars in your weblogic.class.path (or java classpath.) Remove
    them, and see if the error is resolved.

    Does the same apply for beans of different types? In other words, do
    I need to have an entity bean and a session bean which wraps the entity
    bean in the same jar file?
    I am having a problem accessing a session bean from a JSP servlet. I get
    the dreaded ClassCastException. I don't get this problem, however, if
    I access the session bean directly from a stand-alone java client. It's
    only when I access the session bean via JSP....
    Any ideas?

    Jeff Wang <[email protected]> wrote in message news:[email protected]...
    What you should have in the .jar files are:
    the home (say it is called <bean>home.class)
    the remote (say it is called <bean>.class)
    the impl (say it is called <bean>impl.class)
    These are the only ones that should be in the .jar file. (not even the
    PK should be there, for an entity bean.) All the support classes should
    be in weblogic.class.path If you have cross jar dependencies,
    unfortunately, you will have to specify the jar in the
    weblogic.class.path... However, this is not a good idea, as you will
    have 2 class files in memory. At the very least, you will not be able
    to do hot deploy. Depending on your code, you'll have a "class cast
    exception <bean> can not be casted to an object of <bean>" (Something
    like that, I don't have the exact error in front of me.) In your
    example it is probably better to put User and Address in the same jar.

  • I need help for deploy an EJB to Oracle 8i

    I want to deploy an EJB on Oracle8i, but my JDeveloper 3.2
    doesn't have the option "Enterprise Java Bean to Oracle8i", it
    has only the option "CORBA to Oracle8i" in the deploy wizard. Is
    this correct?
    JDeveloper 3.1 has the option "Enterprise Java Bean to Oracle8i"
    in the deploy wizard. why doesn't Jdeveloper appear this option?
    I need help or information about this.
    thank you.

    To copy the data of one account to another one, you can use the Shared folder, stored in /Users. You have to log in this user in order to copy the files to the folder, and then, log in the new user and copy the files to the folders where you want to store your files. Another option is to use an external drive.
    To start by default with one account, open System Preferences > Login Options, and choose your old account next to "Automatic login"

  • 11g - is it possible to deploy multiple repositories?

    One of our clients was under the impression that deploying multiple RPDs in 11g would be simpler than it was in 10g, where we needed to deploy multiple copies of the BI Presentation Server and point each one to its own repository.
    A quick RTFM of all of the 11g docs doesn't reveal any mention of truly deploying multiple RPDs within a single BI Server environment. Yes, of course we can still list additional RPDs in the NQSConfig.ini, but actually making them available to users is another issue entirely.
    I know how to do it in 10g: multiple installations of BI Presentation Server. Is there a way to do it in 11g?

    I am faced with a similar requirement although the hosting environment for the provider hosted apps would be an IIS web server in our own infrastructure.
    Would it be advisable to use a common IIS website to host multiple apps? The MVC web application which will provide functionality
    for the apps is already in place which is why we are checking for options to use the same web project for multiple apps.
    Can the web config file's clientID be shared by multiple apps?

  • How to write multiple ejb-jar.xml file in an ejb module

    i am developing an ejb project. I hav a number of entity beans and session beans and their mapping in ejb-jar.xml. As the number of beans increases the entry of beans and mapping is also increasing. So i want to ask u that is there any mechanism so that i can divide the ejb-jar.xml file so that it will be easy to maintain it.

    ejb-jar is the smallest composable unit for related EJB components. Your best bet is to create multiple ejb-jars and package them within the same enterprise application (.ear).
