Deploy view doesn't deploy related tables. why?

Hello,
well, actually question is in the subject.
In detail :
create table - table_1.
create table - table_2
with any columns in Design Center;
create a view, spec some columns and put a query there too.
None of the objects exist in the target schema.
Now click on the view and select "deploy". It will deploy with status "success", but it doesn't bring over the tables of which it based - through the select specified in the "create view".
What am i missing ?
thank you.
P.S. dig around : the manual states that OWB does NOT check the query - so even invalid query will be deployed w/o a problem. But i still can't find how can i "associate" the view with tables, so they can be deployed in a single action.

Hey Mr. Zsolt.Pentek,
I am new to the Oracle Spatial, Could you please be kind enough to post all the procedure with queries to load Geotiff in Oracle 11g, i have gone through the above said oracle document but they have declared quries for some steps and not for all the steps.
As i can understand you have been able to achieve the task, i would try to follow ur steps and probably make it ans it may work as a tutorial for new entrants also.
I will really appreciate your help.
Thanks and Regards

  • Table or view doesn't exist when deploying a mapping

    Hello,
    OWB and BI in general is new for me. I have read the tutorials but I have a problem and I don't understand how to solve it :
    I have 2 databases in 2 different services :
    - dbsrc (where I have tabsrc with 2 columns)
    - dbtarget (where I have tabtarget with 1 column)
    OWB connect correctly to dbsrc
    I have made a mapping between dbsrc and dbtarget and I have just joined the second column of dbsrc with the unique column of dbtarget.
    All the steps before deploying are ok but when I deployed I have a warning saying that table or view doesn't exist.
    I have used the debugger and it seems that owb searches dbsrc in the service dbtarget ... I have copied my table from dbsrc to dbtarget and in this case the deployement and the execution of the mapping runs correctly.
    What I'm doing wrong ? Why OWB isn't able to see that my table source is in another database/services ?
    Thanks in advance for your help.

    Hi,
    In design center, you need two oracle dbs: one as data source (with a location pointing to you src db) and one as dwh target (with a location pointing to your target db).
    Your mapping has to be in the target db. In the mapping, you use the target table from the target db and the source table from the source db.
    When you deploy the mapping using control center manager, owb will create a database link for you from the target to the source db. The mapping will read the data through that database link and write it into the target table.
    Regards,
    Carsten.

  • Deploying multiple beans & support classes, related questions

    I have an application that I'm trying to deploy to the latest JServer with Oracle 8i 8.1.6 on Windows 2000. We used JDeveloper to write the code and to deploy the EJBs. I have some questions and it'd be great if someone can answer them.
    All documentation seem to indicate that beans must be deployed one at a time. Is this the case? If not, how?
    If so, what is the "correct" way to deploy helper classes which are used by more than one bean?
    Is there always only one instance of a class in the database, even though I might deploy the same helper class with different beans? If not, is there any mechanism to ensure consistency?
    Can I just update a helper class in the database?
    How do I see what classes are in the database? How do I manipulate them (e.g. delete, change, add, view size) ?
    Is there an easy way to "clean out" the database of all classes, so as to start anew?
    null

    The Java-related documentation was that I was reading. I have a followup question. Is it possible for me to simply deploy some beans without regard for all the helper classes, then at a later point do a load java on all classes that I expect to use, and have it all work?
    Thanks. You've been great help.

    Hi Gerald,
    I will take a stab at answering your questions:
    1. Are you talking about the JDeveloper doc, or the Oracle8i EJB doc?
    2. When you create the Deployment Profile in JDeveloper using the Deployment Profile wizard, any classes your EJB depends on should get included in the deployment archive by the dependency analyzer. You can see the contents of what will be deployed by selecting the Preview button on the Sources page of the wizard.
    If you want to explictly EXCLUDE a helper class because it has already been deployed with another bean, you can choose the Advanced button. Select one of the Library, archive, class pages on the Advanced dialog, and add the class to the Exclude list. Select OK, then check the Preview button again to make sure it was excluded.
    If you are deploying a number of beans that user the same helper classes, the helper classes will get deployed with the first bean, and on subsequent deployments, the process will detect that the helper class has already been deployed and will check to see if it has changed since the last deployment. I believe it uses a timestamp comparison for this, but I'm not positive. If it detects the source and target are the same, it won't redeploy the class.
    If you just want to update a helper class for the EJB, you can use the Java Stored Procedure deployment in the Deployment Profile Wizard, include the helper class in the deployment archive, and do not publish anything.
    You can use the Database Browser in JDeveloper to see what deployed Java Classes, and EJBs are stored in your database. Double-click on the IIOP connection you used to deploy the EJBs (under the Connections node in the Navigator). This will display the Database Browser. Expand the appropriate nodes to view the deployed objects.
    To see deployed Java Classes, double-click on a JDBC connection and expand the Schema node and then the Deployed Java Classes node.
    Many operations are available from the context menus in the Database Browser, including Drop. Others you will have to perform from SQL*Plus or the command line. See the Oracle8i Java Developer's Guide for more information on SQL commands and command line syntax for altering Java objects in the database. This doc, and the EJB and CORBA Developer's Guide are available online from OTN on the Doc pages.
    You can use dropjava to drop all classes that were deployed in a given deployment archive by specifying the name of the jar file used during deployment. Again, see the Java Developer's Guide for the syntax.<HR></BLOCKQUOTE>

  • TLB view locking Deployment view

    Hi Experts,
    User is in the TLB view with a location product but for the same combination he can not go to the change mode using deployment view.
    Planning area gets locked for that product location combination.
    Can anybody explain why this is happening and how to fix this?
    Thanks in Advance,
    Chandan

    Dear Chandan,
    Note 1000893 will avoid to have one tlb session locking the whole planning version and will allow the other users to work on locationproducts.
    Please implement it and test.

  • Converting Relational Tables to Object Views

    We have extra information stored for each
    field in a table. We call these Vertical
    Tables:
    rowid primary key - ties to normal tab
    column_name "" - ties to column in ""
    text_value the value if text
    reliability rating for level of accuracy...
    date of entry
    Yes there are normal tables that the applications also access if they just need the value of the columns.
    So I want to take this to object views. This way, while oracle is learning how to alter objects, we can still maintain our data and old application while converting to the use of objects.
    I thought the best solution would be Type(s) based on the orignal data type. A generic type, text65_t could be created to hold every column that is less than 65 characters long:
    CREATE TYPE text65_t AS OBJECT
    WITH OBJECT IDENTIFIER(row_id) AS
    row_id VARCHAR2(30),
    value VARCHAR2(65),
    reliability NUMBER(1,0),
    doe DATE
    A view can easily be created of this. The
    mapping is one to one.
    My problem is the next level. How can I build another view on top of text65_t, integer_t, date_t... that ties all of the
    vertical rows back into a normal relational table or object.
    Thanks,
    bill

  • SDM doesn't deploy

    Hi everybody,
    I'm having trouble while deploying an SDA file through NW Developer Studio.
    I can deploy this file via SDM (Remote Gui) but I cannot via NWDS.
    Basically, when deployment is triggered from NWDS, I'm prompted for credentials and I then get the following sequence of messages:
    - Start deployment
    - Created a temporary copy
    - Additional log info about the deployment
    - Finished Deployment
    ---> Result = successfully deployed
    However my application hasn't been deployed and when I check SDM log file (/user/sap/.../program/log/sdmlogxxx.log) there's no entry for the deployment I initiated.
    Any clue?
    Thanks,
    Marco

    Hi all,
    the picture is slightly clearer now.
    From NW Developer Studio, J2EE perspective, I can disable, enable, restart SDM.
    Now suppose I shut it down. Then if I try to deploy it succeeds because deployment  onto a different server (which I configured months back).
    So this is sort of weird since in some cases it's taken the configuration specified in Windows>Preferences>SAP J2EE Engine whilst, at deployment time, other details are being used.
    Any idea as to why?
    Thanks,
    Marco

    END;
    BEGIN
    mobi_test;
    END;
    Any help.
    Regards,
    Irfan Ahmad

    The problem is that your grants for your user to be able to truncate those tables is given through a role. An anonymous block will use role based permissions so you're ok that way. But when it's a stored procedure, role based permissions don't apply.
    To solve it, grant delete/truncate permissions to that user directly.

    Hello, sorry for late reply.
    I have found the cause of problem: The hyperlink. In index.jsp, I have
    Click <a href="./DispatchingExample">here</a> to go to the second page.But actually I should have
    Click <a href="DispatchingExample">here</a> to go to the second page.I found the cause when I try to run the simple application which deployed on my server; when I click on the link in index.jsp, the browser will go to http://localhost:8080/DispatchingExample rather than http://localhost:8080/Playground/DispatchingExample, so the servlet cannot be found.
    Now, the servlet can be accessed, but what about the *.class file in package? In my assignment, I wrote many classes for use in my servlet (eg. DeliveryOrder.java, which is a class to contain delivery order details, and to be used when inserting record into database), but it seems that the servlets cannot find them.
    For example, I put a line in one of my JSP:
    <%@ page language="Java" import="java.sql.*, EDESystemPackage.MySQLConnection" %>EDESystemPackage is the package name, and MySQLConnection is a class responsible to create the connection from JSP to MySQL database. When I try to visit the JSP, a NullPointerException will be raised. I wonder if I have correctly import the class?
    Thank you.

    How do I print out the results correctly in my case of situation?
    There are several things wrong with your code and methodology
    1. The code you posted won't even compile because there are several syntax issues.
    2. You are trying to use/test Java in the database BEFORE you get the code working outside the DB
    3. Your code is not using collections in JDBC properly
    I suggest that you use a different, proven approach to developing Java code for use in the DB
    1. Use SIMPLE examples and then build on them. In this case that means don't add collections to the example until ALL other aspects of the app work properly.
    2. Create and test the Java code OUTSIDE of the database. It is MUCH easier to work outside the database and there are many more tools to help you (e.g. NetBeans, debuggers, DBMS_OUTPUT windows, etc). Trying to debug Java code after you have already loaded it into the DB is too difficult. I'm not aware of anyone, even at the expert level, that develops that way.
    3. When using complex functionality like collections first read the Oracle documentation (JDBC Developer Guide and Java Developer's Guide). Those docs have examples that are known to work.
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/B28359_01/java.111/b31225/chfive.htm
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E11882_01/java.112/e16548/oraarr.htm#sthref583
    The main issue with your example is #3 above; you are not using collections properly:
    String value = rset.getString(i);
    A collection is NOT a string so why would you expect that to work for a nested table?
    A collection needs to be treated like a collection. You can even treat the collection as a separate result set. Create your code outside the database and use the debugger in NetBeans (or other) on this replacement code for your 'printResults' method:
    static void printResults (ResultSet rset) throws SQLException {
        try {
           ResultSetMetaData meta = rset.getMetaData();
           while (rset.next()) {
               ResultSet rs = rset.getArray(2).getResultSet();
               rs.next();
               String ndx = rs.getString(1);
               Struct struct = (Struct) rs.getObject(2);
               System.out.println(struct.getSQLTypeName());
               Object [] oa = struct.getAttributes();
               for (int j = 0; j < oa.length; j++) {
                  System.out.println(oa[j]);
        } catch  (SQLException e) {
           System.err.println(e.getMessage());
    That code ONLY deals with column 2 which is the nested table. It gets that collection as a new resultset ('rs'). Then it gets the contents of that nested table as an array of objects and prints out the attributes of those objects so you can see them.
    Step through the above code in a debugger so you can SEE what is happening. NetBeans also lets you enter expressions such as 'rs' in an evaluation window so you can dynamically try the different methods to see what they do for you.
    Until you get you code working outside the database don't even bother trying to load it into the DB and create a Java stored procedure.
    Since your current issue has nothing to do with this forum I suggest that you mark this thread ANSWERED and repost it in the JDBC forum if you need further help with this issue.
    https://forums.oracle.com/community/developer/english/java/database_connectivity
    When you repost you can include a link to this current thread if you want. Once your Java code is actually working then try the Java Stored procedure examples in the Java Developer's Guide doc linked above.

    Please let me know at the earliest. Thanks in advance.

    <i>I don't think this is the right place for this, but I will give one reply.</i>
    <i>>What you think when a person is facing some issue will first read guidelines and then post.</i>
    Here is the <a href="https://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/HOME/RulesofEngagement">link</a> to the guidelines. It is expected somebody first reads the guidelines and then starts posting, it is the first line in the guidelines. So I expect it also. I don't see why I should expect it from someone who has at least 30 points, and not from someone who has never posted.
    About your analogy, it doesn't work because most of the time the functional consultant needs me to create the workflow, or he is part of the same project so we need each other. In this forum I spend my own precious time answering questions, and not for the points but because I want to contribute and help others. But I expect them to have tried to 'help' themselves first.
    And as long as there is no moderator for the forum I will try to point people at the guidelines so this forum will not end up generating a lot of 'noise' and running of those who can help maybe the most (to name two: Kjetil Kilhavn and Mike Pokraka). I know they are thinking about skipping this forum because of the noise.
    <i>> Try to be a bit pragmatic. Will you do this to your peers or your junior.</i>
    Depending on the situation I will do this to my peers and juniors, mostly because they will learn more from finding things out by themselves than from pre cooked answers. And learning is one of the main objectives here.
    And my remark about the points is because you keep asking for them.
    I hope this clarifies a little why I post answers like the one I gave to this somewhat lazy question (not the first one today).

  • How to define join in physical layer between cube and relational table

    Hi
    I have a aggregated data in essbase cube. I want to supplement the information in the cube with data from relational source.
    I read article http://community.altiusconsulting.com/blogs/altiustechblog/archive/2008/10/24/are-essbase-and-oracle-bi-enterprise-edition-obiee-a-match-made-in-heaven.aspx which describes how to do it.
    From this article I gather that I have to define a complex join between the cube imported from essbase to my relational table in physical layer.
    But when I use Join Manager I am only able to define jooin between tables from relation source but not with the imported cube.
    In My case I am trying to join risk dimension in the cube based on risk_type_code (Gen3 member) with risk_type_code in relation table dt_risk_type.
    How can I create this join?
    Regards
    Dhwaj

    Hi
    This has worked the BI server has joined the member from the oracle database to cube. So Now for risk type id defined in the cube I can view the risk type code and risk type name from the relational db.
    But now if I want to find aggregated risk amount against a risk type id it brings back nothing. If I remove the join in the logical model then I get correct values. Is there a way by which I can combine phsical cube with relational model and still get the aggregated values in the cube?
    I have changed the column risk amount to be sum in place of aggr_external both in logical and phsical model.
    Regards,
    Dhwaj

  • How to trigger a 'delete' across different related tables in ABAP?

    Hello All,
    I am creating database tables for storing different values of features coming under different countries. I have eight tables in my design and there are fields repeating in different tables, which i am connecting through foreign key relationship.
    After entering values to all my tables, if i need to delete a particular field value which is repeating in more than two tables, is it possible to trigger a delete event by which if am deleting the field value in a particular table, all the related field values also get deleted from the respective tables?
    For example, if i have a PRODUCT field in three tables, and if one of the PRODUCT is deleted from a particular table, can i trigger a delete event by which i can delete all the values related to that particular PRODUCT from all the related tables? The PRODUCT is a primary keyfield, and i have maintained proper foreign key relations also.
    I have tried deleting entries using the views and using the database table itself, but only that particular table value is being deleted.
    Is there any function module for triggering a delete?
    Can anyone help me with some solution?Sample code will be helpful.
    Thanks in Advance,
    Shino

    Hi,
    My friend it is not advisable to delete any field from a database  table bcoz it's creats incosistance data for all the other related tables, but there r few Function Modules that provide u this functionality.
    Such As:
    G_REPORT_DELETE_ADDFLD_ENTRY
    G_CATT_DELETE_TABLE_ENTRY
    RKE_DELETE_FIELDS_FROM_TABLE

  • Retrieving data from a relational table and CLOB as a whole XML file

    I created the table lob_example and I have managed to insert XML document into it using XML SQL Utility. In this document I put contents of <DESCRIPTION> tag into CDATA section.
    LOB_EXAMPLE
    Name Null? Type
    ID NOT NULL NUMBER
    DESCRIPTION CLOB
    NAME VARCHAR2(40)
    But I could not retrieve this data properly. I can think of only one solution - to parse and build the whole XMLDocument. I found the suggestion of another solution to use Oracle8i views to do that in http://technet.oracle.com/tech/xml/infoocs/otnwp/about_oracle_xml_products.htm, but this text is not clear enough for me.
    I would like to quote the fragment from document mentioned above, which is ambiguous for me:
    "Combining XML Documents and Data Using Views
    Finally, if you have a combination of structured and unstructured XML data, but still want to view and operate on it as a whole, you can use Oracle8i views. Views enable you to construct an object on the "fly" by combining XML data stored in a variety of ways. So, you can store structured data (such as employee data, customer data, and so on) in one location within object -relational tables, and store related unstructured data (such as descriptions and comments) within a CLOB. When you need to retrieve the data as a whole, you simply construct the structure from the various pieces of data with the use of type constructors in the view's select statement. The XML SQL Utility then enables retrieving the constructed data from the view as a single XML document."
    The main question is - how to use type constructors in the view's select statement?

    Hello
    Sorry for asking the same question again, but any responses would be greatly appreciated.
    How to use type constructors in the view's select statement?
    I could not find any answers for this question on Technet. Maybe the other approaches are more efficient to combine the part of data from CLOB with data from other column types?
    Thank you
