Deploying a batch file via Application Manager

Hi there,
I have a batch file to remove an application that has several subcomponents that have their own installers and remove their registry keys as well. It works well when deployed as a package but I want to deploy it with the application manager to utilise the
detection methods and content management available there.
The problem is that when I deploy the package, nothing is downloaded to ccmcache, so the batch file doesn't run, although the Software Centre shows that is installed and the compliance on the collection is at 100 percent. Where is my batch file going?

Actually, there is no utility in the Package Manager that I can see for advertising software in the application Catalog, replacing or upgrading deployed applications with supersedence rules, detecting existing installations on client machines, limiting deployment
of applications to clients with requirement rules or managing the dependencies when deploying packages. Is there something missing from my installation?
Correct, none of those exist in the package feature set and there's nothing missing from your installation (there's nothing called "Package Manager" though so not sure what you are talking about there -- are you using a third party tool perhaps?) but do
you need any of those things to run a simple uninstall?
My statement was targeted at this statement of yours: "with the application manager to utilise the ... content management available there". As mentioned, there is no difference as far as content management is concerned between apps and packages. All
of the things you mentioned in the latest post have nothing to do with content management.
Mind you, I'm not saying whether you should or shouldn't necessarily use applications as apps have clear advantages, I just want to make sure the info given is correct and that you base your decisions based on that correct info.

  • Import Comments data and Dimension Members from csv file via Data Manager

    Dear Experts,
I have two questions regarding the data manager.
Q1.Is it possible to import "Comments" from the csv file via Data Manager?
We'd like to import the amount with "Comments".
    My image of csv file is like below;
    ACCOUNT,CATEGORY,TIME,ENTITY,INPUTCURRENCY,AMOUNT,COMMENTS
    1100000,ACTUAL,2010/06,LC,30000,This is comment
Q2.Is it possible to import the dimension "members" from the csv file via Data Manager?
We have a user-defined dimension named "Project"
and would like to import the members, instead of maintaining them in BPC administration manually.
I found an online help information which says "Import Master Data from a Data File Example",
but I could not find any relevant sample package for this.
(I tried to import the members by using "Import" package, but it failed...)

    Hi Fumi,
In this case, I would suggest you to create a customized SSIS package which will fill-in the "Comment<APP>" table, according to the csv file you have. I do not know any standard package that allows you to import comment the way you would like...

  • Executing batch files via ODI cmd line tool

    Hi,
I'm experiencing an issue when trying to run batch files via the ODI Cmmmand line tool with any agent that isn't the local agent. My call is simply the full filepath of the batch file. When I run with local agent everything works fine. However when I run with an agent configured in the Topology the process just hangs in the operator indefinately in a running state but never executes or produces any output and I have to kill it. Any ideas? The agent is installed on the same server as the ODI Studio instance I use when running the local agent

Sounds like that on the remote agent, the batch job is waiting for a user key input and hence it appears in a hung state. You can add try to trace from Agent logs and echo combinations to know where is this happening
In unix environment you can send keys programmatically. Not sure how to do that in the Windows environment.

  • HOST IN 10g to run batch file on application server

    Hi,
I am trying to deploy a form from 6i to 9i. the form use Host builtin to run batch file on machine. this works fine when i run form on client server environment. but when i run the same form after compiling in 9i and run on 3 tier model and try to run batch file from form it give me error that
'ftp' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
    operable program or batch file.
    any suggestion?

It could be because the Host session doesn't have any environment variables set i.e. there is no PATH variable, so it simply doesn't know where to look to find the 'ftp' executable. You could try supplying the explicit path of the ftp executable and see if that works. (This was a problem I had running Host commands on a Unix application server.)

    Hi,
Use CL_GUI_FRONTEND_SERVICES=>EXECUTE method to run any application in your case batch file..
The batch file you are trying to run should be accessible on presentation system i.e. user's machine.

  • A software update is required? No update available via Application manager.

    Hi,
Since today my Folio Builder screen in my Indesign CC says I need to update via the help menu/updates. Application manager launches but doesn't show any updates. I mannualy tried to install AdobeDigitalPublishingPatch-CC-30.0.0.dmg but then it says the update is not applicable. What is going on?

I'm not sure what's causing this problem. You might want to remove/reinstall InDesign and try again.

    Hi,
I have a page that include document manager. I am able to upload file to UCM server via one user signon. Then I created a new user in UCM. With this new user, whenever I try to upload a file, the file name that I entered keeps getting blanked out when I click 'Upload'. The I will get an error that
    'Error: A value is required:
The file you are trying to upload does not exist or is empty
Select a non-empty file and retry.
Enter a file name and location'
Do you have any idea what I missed for setting up this new user?

  • Deploy given EAR file having application.xml and change context-root

    hi
Please consider deploying a given EAR file on WebLogic Server 10.3.5 (part of JDeveloper 11.1.1.6.0) and changing the context-root for its web-module.
For example an EAR file with only a web-module (ReviewContextRootFirstApp.ear [1]) or an EAR file with a web-module and an ejb-module (ReviewContextRootSecondApp.ear [2]).
Given documentation appendix B section "context-root" [3] saying
    "... A context-root setting in application.xml takes precedence over context-root setting in weblogic.xml. ..."
and documentation section "Typical Deployment Configuration Workflows" [4] saying
"Oracle does not support using a deployment plan to change the context-root in an application.xml file. However, if an application is deployed as a library, you can either change the context-root through an weblogic-application.xml file or use the deployment plan to change the context-root in an weblogic-application.xml file. "
    Some observed behaviour:
    - scenario (sc1) : deploy ReviewContextRootFirstApp.ear without deployment plan, results in context-root "/rcrfaweb" (as in application.xml)
    - scenario (sc2) : deploy ReviewContextRootFirstApp.ear with deployment plan fa-plan.xml (tries to configure "/rcrfaweb11"), results in context-root "/rcrfaweb" (as in application.xml)
    - scenario (sc3) : deploy ReviewContextRootSecondApp.ear without deployment plan, results in context-root "/rcrsaweb" (as in application.xml)
    - scenario (sc4) : deploy ReviewContextRootSecondApp.ear with deployment plan sa-plan.xml (tries to configure "/rcrsaweb21"), results in context-root "/rcrsaweb" (as in application.xml)
The blog post "Defining the context root of a web application in Oracle WebLogic server" [5] by Silviu Leahu in its section "Defining the context root in deployment plan" suggests to
"Remove the META-INF/application.xml DD from the EAR"
    - scenario (sc5) : remove application.xml from ReviewContextRootFirstApp.ear (e.g. using Ant target "remove.application.xml.from.ear") and deploy with deployment plan fa-plan.xml, results in context-root "/rcrfaweb11" (as in fa-plan.xml)
    - scenario (sc6) : remove application.xml from ReviewContextRootSecondApp.ear (e.g. using Ant target "remove.application.xml.from.ear") and deploy with deployment plan sa-plan.xml, results in context-root "/rcrsaweb21" (as in sa-plan.xml)
One could expect that using a deployment plan (like in scenario's (sc2) and (sc4)) would allow to configure/change the context-root, whithout having to make changes to the EAR file to make this possible. (Somewhat like "Figure 4-2 Single Deployment Plan Workflow")
Only in scenario's (sc5) and (sc6) I see something close to what I would like to achieve, but there the application.xml file has been removed from the EAR file.
    So ...
    - (q1) Is it impossible to change the context-root at deploy-time for a web-module in a given EAR file that includes an application.xml file, without changing the EAR file?
    - (q2) Is working with EAR files that don't have an application.xml file a supported approach (to change the context-root at deploy-time)?
Seems like a simple goal, but I must be missing something that is required to achieve it.

Thanks for your reply René van Wijk.
    René van Wijk wrote:
You can use deployment plans in order to change the context-root ...That is what I tried and describe in scenario's (sc2), (sc4), (sc5) and (sc6) in this forum thread.
Because the application.xml file (in the "given EAR file"), added by JDeveloper 11.1.1.6.0 when deploying to an EAR file, doesn't have id attributes on its application/module elements, I first tried a different XPath expression:
    "/application/module/web[web-uri/text()="WebProject.war"]/context-root"
    But, that didn't work.
Although the "given EAR file" does not have the suggested id attributes, I tried adding a deployment descriptor application.xml file that does have such id attributes [2], allowing an XPath expression like the one suggested:
    "/application/module[id="WebProject"]/web/context-root"
    - scenario (sc7) : deploy ReviewContextRootFirstApp.ear (in ReviewContextRootApps-v0.02.zip) with deployment plan fa-plan-application-xml-with-id.xml (tries to configure "/rcrfaweb14"), results in context-root "/rcrfaweb" (as in application.xml)
    - scenario (sc8) : deploy ReviewContextRootSecondApp.ear (in ReviewContextRootApps-v0.02.zip) with deployment plan sa-plan-application-xml-with-id.xml (tries to configure "/rcrsaweb24"), results in context-root "/rcrsaweb" (as in application.xml)
So, it does not seem to work.
... you have to use a variable assignment in the right part of the deployment plan (in this case the application.xml) ...My observations I describe above (that it does not seem to work) seem to confirm the Oracle documentation [1] I referred to in this forum thread before:
"Oracle does not support using a deployment plan to change the context-root in an application.xml file. ... "
... By using an xpath expression, you can define which part of the xml has to be changed. ...The values for the deployment-plan xpath elements seem to be "peculiar".
Although it should not be a problem in an XPath expression, using single quotes (like module[id='WebProject'] ) instead of double quotes (like module[id="WebProject"] ) results in:
"java.lang.AssertionError: Attributes must be defined as name value pairs, eg, name="value" -- [id='WebProject']"
Because an XPath predicate expression would use an "@" to refer to an attribute, I also tried to replace what you suggested module[id="Web"] with something like module[@id="Web"] but that also did not make a difference.

  • Problem deploying Creator War file in Application Server 8.1

I want to get my Creator app created using Linux to run on a Windows XP machine running Sun Java System Application Server 8.1.
I thought this would be straight forward as this is the server used in the IDE and both come with PointBase. No such luck.
The app starts up but trying to go to the login page which has a database connection I get HTTPStatus 500 exception
    javax.servlet.ServletException: javax.faces.FacesException: javax.faces.FacesException: Can't instantiate class: 'myproject.Login : javax.faces.FacesException: java.sql.SQLException: JdbcRowSetXImpl (connect): (JNDI) Unable to connect: Signon not found
Signon is the PointBase database name and I can ping the database connection.
Is there a step by step How-to to get a Creator app running on SJSAS 8.1 on an external machine?

  • Need help deploying batch file to WINXP and WIN7 computers

Hello all and thanks for your time and expertise.
I'm trying to deploy a batch file to unregister vgx.dll in response to the zero day flaw.  Symantec provided the batch file and it works but now I have to get it deployed.  I was trying to use Group Policy Preferences/Scheduled Tasks and Immediate
Task for both a WINXP deployment and a WIN7 Deployment.  There are immediate task options for XP and WIN7.
I have the vgx.bat file at c:\ of my DC.  The rest of the settings are as follows:
    RUN:  c:\vgx.bat
    Arguments:  blank
    Start in: blank
And then Item Level targeting is set to deploy to Windows XP and Windows 7 respectively.  I'm deploying tasks to the respective operating systems in the same GPO.
On my test systems - the GPO say it was applied but vgx.dll is still showing in the registry.  Basically once you unregister this file it won't show in the registry under HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT subkey CLSID. I tested this on another system manually. Additionally
I get no error message in event viewer.
Anyway, your help and recommendation on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

    Hello Pendal,
Actually I deployed the workaround for this vulnerability yesterday via batch file and it was successful. What I did was to create a batch file and apply it as
start up script since it is unlikely for vgx.dll to become unregistered using logon script.
    "%SystemRoot%\System32\regsvr32.exe" -u "%CommonProgramFiles%\Microsoft Shared\VGX\vgx.dll"
There are other options for you to patch these Zeroday including preventing Active-X and Active Script to run using GPO. Another option would be to Deny access to the mentioned dll file.
    Regards.

In the batch script use the "START" command to start the program. To use it you need to have the script browse to the application directory first as shown below:
    c:
    cd MyApplication\ApplicationFolder
    START myApp.exe
exitThis will start an application that is stored in C:\MyApplication\ApplicationFolder\myApp.exe. I use this quite a bit and works well for me.
