Deploying a new ODI environment

Hi all,
I need to create a new ODI Dev environment.
I have ever developed several projects that I want to retrieve in my new environment.
So first I would like to import all my connections (physical and logical schema) from my old Master repository to my new one.
Could you please give me tips to do this ? What's the easier way, dump ? mimport.bat ? or another way ?
Moreover my architects team ask me if it can be done without client interaction (only API and scripts). Does anyone know a solution without client ?
To import all my dev's objects I think that Work repository import can be done or object by object import with ODI.
Like you can see I'm a bit confused in this subject, if someone know best practices or Oracle's notes.
Thanks in advance.
Brice

  • Create a new portlet  in Deployed Portal in production environment

are there any ways to import or create a new portlet in Deployed Portal in production environment?
    Edited by: user8322798 on May 1, 2011 7:26 AM

This can done via WSRP proxy portlets and streaming desktops. First, you'll need to have a WSRP producer setup somewhere. This could be another WLP webapp with portlets, or another server altogether. Or, you can use the JSR 286 WSRP import tool from within the Portal Administration Console (I think it's under Services | WSRP | Import Tool) -- this will allow you upload .war(s) of JSR 168 or 286 portlets, which will be turned into WSRP producer(s).
Then, you can use the Portal Administration Console to register a WSRP Producer, and then add portlets from the producer to your desktop (http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E15919_01/wlp.1032/e14235/chap_fed_books_pages.htm#FPGWP690). Additionally, once the producer has been registered in Portal Adminstration Console, an adminstrator user can use the Dynamic Visitor Tools from within the streaming desktop itself to add wsrp proxy portlets to the desktop (http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E15919_01/wlp.1032/e14243/dvt.htm#PDGWP691).
It is not possible to add new local .portlet files to a deployed application in production mode. This requires adding the file artifacts to the .ear/.war and redeploy the application.

  • Weblogic 92 MP3  Deployment of newer version of application in production

    Hi,
I have Weblogic 9.2 MP3. I need to deploy newer version of application in Production (first in QA).
My question is that, can i deploy that newer version of application without stopping the server (after deploy i need to restart, i know) on the server ?
I think it might give the problem because of the same name of the application.
If suppose i am able to deploy the application will it run properly with the environment (means the production or QA).
Please provide me the documentation other then bea official.
    Thanks in advance!!!!!!

  • Performance tuning for new OFMW environment

    Hello
We have just set up a new UAT environment entirely on all Oracle FMW latest products which includes:
    1) OS -RHEL V5
    2) WebCenter
    3) SOA Suite
    4) Database
    5) IDM
    6) HTTP Server
    7) WebLogic Server
As as post infrastructure setup plan we need to to performance tuning as well. Shall we do only WLS performance tuning or we need to tune each and every product in order to get optimum results.
    Any guide? resource to help?
    Pls advice
    Regards
    Dev

When you install the product soa-suite (and probably webcenter too) a prerequisite check is performed
that gives information about packages and parameters that need to be adjusted on your operating system.
For products that run on WebLogic Server you probably have to tune the JVM, examples can be found here:
    - http://middlewaremagic.com/weblogic/?p=6930 (discusses JRockit)
    - http://middlewaremagic.com/weblogic/?p=7083 (focuses on Coherence, but the considerations can be applied to other environments as well)
Examples that set-up the SOA-Suite can be found here:
    - http://middlewaremagic.com/weblogic/?p=6040 (discusses considerations when installing the SOA suite)
    - http://middlewaremagic.com/weblogic/?p=6872 (discusses considerations when adding the web-tier to the SOA suite)
The enterprise deployment guides can help too:
    - SOA Suite: http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E21764_01/core.1111/e12036/toc.htm
    - WebCenter: http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E21764_01/core.1111/e12037/toc.htm
These also contain sections on integration with Oracle Identity Management and the Oracle HTTP Server

  • Workflow Custom Activity deploy in multi server environment

I have been working on a project that involves developing a custom workflow activity for SharePoint 2013. I am developing it in a single server environment working with http.
My problem occurs when deploying to multi-server environment with https (WFE, APP). My question is how to deploy my solution to the new environment.
    The steps:
    Create a project - c# activity library
Add a workflow activity, add .xml
Deploy the .dll and .xml of project to:
    "C:\Program Files\Workflow%20Manager\1.0\Workflow\Artifacts" "C:\Program Files\Workflow Manager\1.0\Workflow\WFWebRoot\bin"
    net sotp "Workflow Manager Backend"
    net start "Workflow Manager Backend"
    Deploy .DLL to GAC
        - Created MSI using install shield in VS2010 to add .DLL to GAC
        - Verify .DLL in GAC by going to c:\windows\assembly and %windir%\Microsoft.NET\assembly
    iisrest
Deploy WSP to SharePoint, activate feature, open SharePoint Designer 2013 and choose the custom action that now appears when creating a 2013 workflow
To recap we have workflow manager on the APP server and and the workflow client on the WFE. We deployed the .DLL and .XML to the workflow manager (APP) only. The .DLL is deployed
to/in the GAC on the WFE and the APP. We are able to see and create the activity in Designer 2013 and we deploy the workflow to a normal SharePoint list. When we run the workflow we do not get any errors in the ULS logs, event viewer or Workflow Manager Debug
Logs (event viewer also). The site is not created though. We believe the issue is that the custom C# (.DLL) is not being ran.
This all works fine and dandy on my single server environment. Workflow is working like a charm. How can we trouble shoot what the issue is if we are not finding any errors?
Is there a step that we missed or some other place we need to look for logs? Would the ULS logs show the site creation or show running our custom code? Currently it does not show anything when we run the workflow.
Let me know if this is unclear or if anyone needs more information. Thanks

    Hi,
Here is a workaround for your reference:
We can develop a custom WCF service instead of the Custom Activity in SharePoint. And then use the service from workflow. It use a separate dedicated server for workflow without having any reference to SharePoint DLLs from inside workflow.
Here is a similar thread for your reference:

  • SAP ME SDK - WebServices Deployment to a Production Environment

    Hello all,
I was wondering if anyone else out there was having the same problems that I was having while developing a Web Service through the SDK Eclipse environment?
I followed the tutorials within the "SDK Training.pdf";; that came with taking the SDK class and was able to create the Web Service (page 264) without any problems on my development server. Deployed through the Eclipse environment. However when performing an actual build to be deployed on a Production server the Web Services were not carried over cleanly.
I did manage to get it all working after a lot of trial and error as well as creating a new directory structure to place the wsdl files in, which ironically is the same directory structure on the development server (a good thing that I have a D: on both the dev and prod server). Not a very pretty situation. It should come all nice and neat for a production build similar to deploying the SAPME.sca file.
I was just wondering if anyone else in the community had the same problems that I did?
Also, was wondering if there was any future enhancements to the SDK to make this process more streamlined?
    Thanks,
    Mike

    Hi Troy,
I have already done exactly as you suggested, which is also documented in the training information for a production build. I am able to get all of my custom code/activities/jsp pages working within ME without any issues. However, I was not able to get to my web services through the JSP pages that I wrote. Following the example in the Training Documentation given to us from the SAP Trainer.
To get this to work I had to take the <vendor>Web.sda.ear file and move that to my Production server to install and run. That is the part that I was dicussing it not being a clean install.
I will take another look at the SDK Implementation Guide, however the Training Doc has examples, which many people, including myself learn best from.
My question was really has anyone else in the community run into this same issue? As well as, are there any improvements?
You have answered the second question with regards to ME 6.1. I appreciate and thank you for that.
I am looking forward to the ME 6.1 ramp up and release.
    Thanks,
    Mike

  • Import Schema into new (production) environment in APEX 4.2

    Hello,
I am having troubles with deploying developed application into new environment. I exported application, schema and workspace and I want to import it all to a new machine. Except schema, I have imported and installed it all successfully. But after I import generated script (DDL) trough SQL Workshop->SQL Scripts I am not able to find created scheme.
Let me explain my steps in sequence:
    1. I have installed XE 11g Release 2, and APEX 4.2 on the new machine (Win 7).
    2. New (ghost) workspace and schema were created (named as TESTWS, TESTSCH).
    3. After I logged to a new workspace (TESTWS) I completed importing old schema (DEVSCH) -( I have found that the import and install sequence should be - fist Schema, second Workspace (with mapped schema), and then Application)
    4. Finally I have imported old workspace (DEVWS) trough administrator console, and have tried to assign it to old (imported) schema (DEVSCH) but without any success. I was not able to locate imported schema.
I am not sure if there is a missing step or something I have doing wrongly, so please advise what to do in order to import and recognize/locate/see imported scheme into new APEX environment?
    Thank you in advance,
    BR
    Jasmin

No.. Once you import an application into HIGHER version of APEX, it is modified to that version.. This is a suggestion, but I would advise having some sort of version control in this case, so you can go back to a prior version easily...
    Thank you,

  • How to deploy reports from one environment to another in CoD

    Hi Experts,
I'm actually in training with an Oracle partner in order to learn how to create reports in CoD.
    It seems quite easy.
But the trainer here told us to develop directly the new reports on the Prod environment.
I've asked why, cause we also have Dev and Test environment.
And he answerer me that there's no way to deploy reports from one environment to another, the only way is to redevelop it on each environment.
As for me it seems impossible not to be able to deploy reports from dev to test and then test to prod, I'm directly asking experts.
So could you please confirm this or not, and maybe provide me an example of what you're doing on your side to copy from one environment to another.
    Thank you in advance.
    Brice

    H,
reports cannot be migrated at this time, indeed.

  • Class not found because browsers need newer runtime environment - or this

For all who are experiencing the same problem!
    Problem:
You're compiling your applets with a quiet modern compiler (i.e. Netbeans Version 3.5.1)
You are able to compile your applets without any problems but if you try your applets in "real life", the browsers can't interpret your applets [class not found]. (I tested Internet Explorer 6.0 and Netscape Navigator 4.7)
So you need a plugin for the new JAVA environment because the JAVA environment of the browser is older than that which the applet needs.
Well, you have the choice to demand to every user of your applet to download the new Java Runtime Environment, but then don't wonder why nobody visits your site!
But, don't worry: I figuered out another solution, that Netbeans (www.netbeans.org) allows to compile in different JAVA versions.
    Solution:
What you have to do is:
    - Install a previous version of JDK (i.e. JDK 1.3 - I would suggest, lower versions don't work with Netbeans 3.5.1 and JDK 1.3 is enough for IE 6.0 and NN 4.7, which I tested)
    - Go into the "bin"-directory of Netbeans (i.e. c:/netbeans3.5.1/bin)
    - Open the file "ide.cfg" (with notepad or any other texteditor)
    - You see a line like: jdkhome "C:\java\j2sdk1.4.2" -J-Xmx96m -J-Xss1024k -J-Xms24m -J-Xverify:none
    - Change the path to your other JDK you wish, like: jdkhome "C:\java\jdk1.3" -J-Xmx96m -J-Xss1024k -J-Xms24m -J-Xverify:none
    - That's it, you can compile your applets in a previous version of JAVA so that "older" browser user don't have to install a plugin for the new JAVA environment.
    Have fun!
If you have any questions I would be pleased to help you.
If this tip helped you already I would be pleased if you would send me a quick email with your experience.
    My email: [email protected]

That's very good to know of course, but correct me if I am wrong with saying that Java development not
limited to NewBeans or any other IDE use.
If somebody wants to deploy the applets within browser built-in JVM (which is really outdated and just
Java 1.1.6 compliant) he or she should compile applet with Java 1.1.8 (still available from SunMicrosystems). Generated classes will be recognized by both Netscape and IE.
    Regards.

    FUNCTION: (eval) [ Level 1 ]
ERRORMSG: Invalid 10.1.3 Oracle Home: /u01/apps/apps/tech_st/10.1.3
    How do I fix this?

    Still the same issue, yes.
I have already logged an SR for this, but all is very quiet on that front.
One funny, is that this HOME was never attached to the orainst.loc, so I did it manually.
When I try and run opatch with lsinventory parm, it does not list any patches, although there are patches installed, if you look at $OH/.patch_storage.
Any idea of how I should attach this home correctly?

  • Sql query extremely slow in the new linux environment , memory issues?

We just migrated to a new dev environment in Linux REDHAT5, and now the query is very slow, and I used the TOAD to run the query, it took like 700 msecond to finish, however from any server connection, the sql query takes hours to finish.
I checked toad monitor, it said need to increase db_buffer_cache and shared pool too small.
Also three red alert from toad is:
    1. Library Cache get hit ratio: Dynamic or unsharable sql
    2. Chained fetch ratio: PCT free too low for a table
    3. parse to execute ratio: HIgh parse to execute ratio.
App team said it ran real quick in the old AIX system, however I ran it in old system, and monitored in the toad, it gave me all same 5 red alerts in old system, and it did provide query results a lot quicker though.
Here is the parameters in the old system (11gr1 on AIX):
