Deploying Oracle Portal without Oracle 9i AS

I have developed a site in Oracle Portal using Oracle 9i
Application Server. I would like to deploy the same in a machine
without Oracle 9i Application Server, can I deploy the same.
Thanks in Advance
Ravi

Oracle Portal can only exist on top of OAS. It would not be
possible to install portal on server without Application Server
and to run Portal app. on machine without OAS.

    did you do this part:
Launch Configuration Manager      Launch the Configuration Manager.
The Configuration Manager is located at:
    https://host:port/
Where host is the host you are installing on and port is the port you specified.
Log in to the Configuration Manager using the user name administrator and the password you specified on the Configuration Manager – Port and Password page.
The Configuration Manager displays a list of all recently installed components. Clicking the link next to each component leads you through the settings you need to configure to complete the installation. For information on the settings in the Configuration Manager, refer to the Configuration Manager online help or to the Administrator Guide for Oracle WebCenter Interaction.
When you have completed all Configuration Manager tasks, return to the installer and click Done.

  • Problems about deploying Oracle web application (Forms, Reports)

I am going to deploy Oracle web applications (Forms and Reports) and plan to use the same server machine for both Application web server and Database server.
    1. How can I enable SSL (for data encryption) on Application web server for Oracle Forms ?
    2. Since both Application web server and Database server will use the same machine, do I still need Oracle Advanced Security for data transmission between Application web server and Database server if data encryption for transmission is required ?
    3. Can I user Oracle Forms to call Oracle Report on web as I did in Client/Server in the past ?
Experts like you may have come across such problems. Would you please give me some opinions/ideas ?
    Regards,
    Richard

    1. check the paper about the Forms servlet architecture on otn forms section for SSL tips.
    3. Check the reports and forms integration paper on otn too.

  • Difference between deploying oracle report in RDF format and REP format

    Hi All,
    Good Day!!!
We are frequently encountering report failures in our production environment with the error message "REP-1247: There exist uncompiled program unit(s)"
But the report executes successfully in the next try and the issue is intermittant. In production the reports are deployed in RDF format.
So in our test environment we tried of deploying the reports in REP foramat and we cant find any errors.
Is there Difference in deploying oracle report in RDF format and REP format?
Is there any diffence in execution?
Your inputs will be much appreciated!!!
    Thanks in Advance,
    JK

    Hi,
REP is to RDF what FMX is to FMB, MMX is to MMB, etc.
Only difference here is that if you deploy RDF, not REP, then the RDF is compiled at runtime by Reports Engine and then executed. In other words, if REP is deployed then it is straightway execute.
That should explain all your observations.
    Cheers.
PS: Please post Oracle Report queries on {forum:id=84} forum.

  • Is it possible to deploy Oracle forms in a different non Oracle Mid Tier

    Hi guys,
This is just a learning question, and for better understanding purposes.
Is it possible for us to deploy Oracle fmb's into non-Oracle Middle tiers and make them running. I am aware that forms are Oracle developed products and are product dependent and runs when deployed on Oracle Application Servers or Weblogic Servers but still has any one managed or is aware to make them run on Non-Oracle Mid Tiers . Please clarify is it possible in any means to transfer these fmb files to non-Oracle product and make them run.
In addition to that, please share your knowledge is it the same to .rdf as well.
Your contribution is appreciated in advance. Please provide supporting links or any if you have.
    Thanks,

It is not possible. The Forms runtime is a C Process; that runtime, that interprets FMX files, only exists in Oracle Application Server, so you need to have OAS or Weblogic to run Forms.

  • I can deploy Oracle XE for production in the Web?

I can deploy Oracle XE for production on web site with support for 100 users or more?

I run Oracle 10g XE on a home computer with 2GB of memory, and when I have a web browser, email, and SQL Developer open I am using more than 1GB of memory. If you're running Microsoft Office and other software on this machine while multiple users are accessing the database, my guess is that you're running out of physical memory and the operating system is running on swap/pagefile space (using the hard disk to emulate physical memory, which is extremely slow in comparison).
You could take a look at this by opening the Windows Task Manager (CTRL+SHIFT+ESC), watching the graphs/numbers in the Performance tab, and seeing if the "Commit Charge" number at the bottom is exceeding the amount of physical memory you have installed (check by viewing System Properties: WINKEY+BREAK).
My suggestion is, at the least, to run the XE database on a standalone PC/server (probably one with better CPU than a Celeron, which doesn't have much CPU cache), and make sure all the switches in your workplace are running at 100Mbps or 1Gbps speed, so that users pulling large datasets will have decent response times.

  • How to Install and deploy Oracle Discoverer in Oracle AppServer 10.1.3.2

I need to know how to install and deploy Oracle Discoverer in Oracle Application Server 10.1.3.2?

    Hi
Discoverer doesn't install into OAS 10.1.3.2. It uses 10.1.2.1 or 10.1.2.2.
When you install Discoverer it installs its own OAS components.

    3. Update Node Trust Level Profile option for the External Server to Extenal.
    4. Set Responsibility Trust level for 'iRecruitment External candidate' to 'External'
    5. Set profile value 'Self Service Personal Home Page Mode' to 'Framework Only'
    6. Set the following values in the context file to appropriate values: ( s_webentryurlprotocol
