Deployment differences

what is the difference between:
          1) deploying to the cluster?
          2) deploying to each of the individual nodes in the cluster?
I'm trying to assess the logistical issues of updating war/ear files in a
clustered environment. When I deploy to the cluster via the console, I
notice that the individual nodes in the cluster (all running on my deskside
box, not distributed across separate hardware) are all marked as deployment
          targets.
In a physically distributed environment, does deploying to a cluster
magically transport the war/ear file for me?
If not, for a new ear/war should I first lay down the file on each node,
then via the console or programmatically deploy to the cluster?
For an existing ear/war, how can I determine when all nodes have hot-synced
to the new file so I know my cluster has "converged" to the new file?

  • Deployment Differences - PeopleSoft OEM BOE-XI vs. PSIK

I can't seem to find a clear documents that clearly explains the Deployment Differences for the following two scenarios...
1.) Deploying the PeopleSoft OEM version of BOE-XI (5-Cal) on an infrastructure without any other BO environments.
2.) Existing separate infrastructure for PeopleSoft 8.9 and BOE-XI (Premium). Deploying the PeopleSoft Integration Kit (PSIK) to "bridge" between the two infrastructures.
If anyone can link me to docs/training/webinars it would be appreciated.

  • Deploy differences between 904 standalone and 903 J2EE and Web cache versio

I am trying to port an application from jboss (3.0.3) to OAS 9iAS rel2. Since the application uses local interfaces in the EJBs, I am using the pre-release versions of OAS. My development environment also include ant and xdoclet. I am not using JDeveloper or TopLink and would prefer not to due to the different targets we are using.
I have successfully portet to the 9.0.4 OC4J (standalone) version. In doing so I have collected all my EJB-class files in one jar, appName-ejb.jar, which along with the war-file and META-INF files go in the ear-file. Attempting to deploy this ear-file directly in 9.0.3 "J2EE and Webcache" version gives me the following error message in the Oracle Enterprise Manager Console: "Deployment failed: Nested exception Root Cause: Syntax error in source. Syntax error in source"
The how-to:Implement Local Interface (cmplocal) also use a single jar-file, cmplocal-ejb.jar. The description is targeted toward OC4J standalone. I have not attempted to deploy this ear-file in the "j2ee and webcache" version.
The Petstore demo ear-file (ref: "O9iAS Containers for J2EE User's Guide (9.0.3)") has all its beans in separate jar-files and deploys without any problems. The documentation also indicate that all beans has to be in separate jar-files in the root of the ear-file i.e this is a requirement. Do I understand the documentation correctly?
Why the difference between the standalone version and the next version? Does not the possibility having to maintain a a large number of bean-jar-files in the root of the ear-file make development/deployment much more difficult than necessary?
    Does there exist any batch-workarounds?

  • Upgrade forms 5.0 to forms 6i ...

I would appreciate if anyone can give me any issues or problems while upgrading 5.0 to 6i for web apps. We will be upgrading 7.x to 8i at the same time. Thanks in advance.
    Steve K.

There are couple of issues I would like to mention to help you to make an educated decision.
If you upgrade from 6 to 6i, you are still working in the client/server environment for which the runtime is free. If you decide to go with Forms 9i, then you will need to obtain 9iAS enterprise edition license and deploy your forms/reports application via 9iAS enterprise edition forms/reports services. We are hoping that one day Oracle will introduce "9iAS Forms/Reports version" as they did with "9iAS Java version".
Additional to the licensing issue, you should also consider the application design and deployment differences (client/server vs Web) in forms 6i and 9i. This should include new hardware requirements.
Forms 6i will be supported (error correction) until the end of 2004, extended support (if purchased separately) will continue until the end of 2007. And windows XP is the final windows version forms 6i is supported on.
    hope this proves useful

  • Differences in means of deployment

    Hi Everyone,
Could i know what is the difference between deploying through NWDS and SDM.Why are we using NWDI.
Why are we using NWDI for business packages as a compulsion.
    Thanks in advance..

    Hi,
NWDS is a development environment, at if you for example deploy webdynpro application it again connects to SDM on the server to deploy.
So we just have helper tool on NWDS to deploy on server, but any way these helper tools will anyway use the tools on server to deploy.
It is not a must to use NWDI to develop business packages, I developed a business packages which only has par file, there we need no NWDI at all. So it depends what you are developing, if you develop DC's then you need NWDI.
Using NWDI you have a sourcecontrol in it which also helps people to work in teams and not overwrite each others code.
So it all depends on what you are doing.

  • Difference between deploying oracle report in RDF format and REP format

    Hi All,
    Good Day!!!
We are frequently encountering report failures in our production environment with the error message "REP-1247: There exist uncompiled program unit(s)"
But the report executes successfully in the next try and the issue is intermittant. In production the reports are deployed in RDF format.
So in our test environment we tried of deploying the reports in REP foramat and we cant find any errors.
Is there Difference in deploying oracle report in RDF format and REP format?
Is there any diffence in execution?
Your inputs will be much appreciated!!!
    Thanks in Advance,
    JK

    Hi,
REP is to RDF what FMX is to FMB, MMX is to MMB, etc.
Only difference here is that if you deploy RDF, not REP, then the RDF is compiled at runtime by Reports Engine and then executed. In other words, if REP is deployed then it is straightway execute.
That should explain all your observations.
    Cheers.
PS: Please post Oracle Report queries on {forum:id=84} forum.

  • Basic differences and deployment

    Hi All,
Anyone could please help me understand the difference between Composites and Bpel process, and is there any differences in deployment method for both?
    Thanks
    Sam

A composite is generally a project in Jdeveloper. Each Composite can have one or many BPEL Processes. It all depends on how
many BPEL processes you want to keep in your composite. In your Jdeveloper project, there will be a file called composite.xml.
This is where the SCA of the composite is defined, like how many services, components and references. they are joined together using wires.
And coming to deployment, when you deploy a composite i mean project in JDeveloper, everything gets deployed as a whole through jar file. we just deploy the composite either through
Jdeveloper or Ant Scripts or WLST or EM console.
    Thanks,
    N

  • Difference between "Web" and "Animate Deployment Package"

What is the difference between "Web" and "Animate Deployment Package" in Publish? They create the same HTML file when published (and after you insert the .oam file). Are they the same?
Also, if I use the "Web" publishing target, how do I then get the animation into a page?
I am hoping there is a difference and that my animations not displaying in BrowserLab will if I publish using the "Web" settings.

    Hi, DOD-
The "Web" publish will output files that can be posted to a webserver and hosted there.  For more information on how to integrate your animation into a webpage, see this thread here:
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/4741310
The OAM file that is output from the "Animate Deployment Package" selection is a compressed file meant for integration into InDesign or Dreamweaver.
Hope that helps clarify things for you!

  • Difference between below SAP FIORI and where to deploy

    Hi Nikunj,
I would recommend going to http://scn.sap.com/community/mobile and reading the What is SAP Fiori UX? page with all of its links.  There is a wealth of information there on the whole topic of Fiori.
X1 (aka Wave 1) is the first release of Fiori with 25 apps and a starting point referred to as Launchpage.
X2 (aka Wave 2) is the second release.  It changed the starting point from Launchpage to Launchpad with some rather major changes in design, configuration, installation, and features.
SAP FIORI FOR SAP ERP is a reference to applications created for use with SAP ERP (as opposed to SAP CRM, SAP SRM, etc.).

  • Difference between Installing an application and Deploying and application

What is the Difference between Installing an application and Deploying and application from the console?
When deploying and app from console - > Click on deployments -> Install -> choose app path, next, next,.. Finish.
Then it will be in prepared state. Once you activate changes, the app deployed will be in activate state. Some times even if you activate changes, it will be in prepared state. then you need to start the app which then comes to activate state.
From above, which part is called Installing an app? Which part is called deploying an app?
Or Are Install and Deploy both mean same?
    Edited by: user734247 on Apr 26, 2012 3:16 PM

Installation is generally referred to making an application's physical file or directory known/accessible to WebLogic Server by configuring through the "New" option in the "Deployments" screen and targeting the servers. Installation of an application will put the status of the application in "prepared" state.
Start is the next action expected so that the application's state transforms into "ACTIVE" by initializing the application and loading the necessary classes and creating the necessary objects to run the application.
The above two steps together are referred to as "Deployment of an application"
Bottomline: In short, "Deploying an application" includes "Installation of the application" AND "Activation/Start of the application"

  • Difference between deploying a process through JDev Vs using obant

    Hi,
I have a Case statement in my BPEL process, which is like this:
    <case condition="bpws:getVariableData('VariableOrderLinesForSimRelationship',concat('/roordprvd:OrderInitiateRequest/roordprvd:OrderLineDataShape[',bpws:getVariableData('CounterVariableLine'),']/roordlnd:OrderLineDetails/roordlnd:RelatedLineNumber'))= bpws:getVariableData('VariableLineNumber')">
When I deploy it using JDev, it gets compiled and deployed correctly.. However, when I am trying to deploy it using obant from the Developers prompt, it is giving the following compilation Error:
    [bpelc] BPEL validation failed.
[bpelc] BPEL source validation failed, the errors are:
    [bpelc]
    [bpelc] [Error ORABPEL-10085]: invalid argument
[bpelc] [Description]: in line 949 of "C:\TEMP\CompareTelcoFiles\ROTelcoNewOrder\ROTelcoNewOrder.bpel", the second argument "concat("/roordprvd:OrderInitiateRequest/roordprvd:OrderLineDataShape[", bpws:getVariableData("CounterVariableLine"), "]/roordlnd:OrderLineDetails/roordlnd:RelatedLineNumber")" for getVariableData is not a literal expression.
[bpelc] [Potential fix]: Please correct the second argument, you might need to escape using single quote or " to make it literal.
    [bpelc] .
However, when I changed the expression to:
    <case condition="bpws:getVariableData('VariableOrderLinesForSimRelationship','/roordprvd:OrderInitiateRequest/roordprvd:OrderLineDataShape[bpws:getVariableData("CounterVariableLine")]/roordlnd:OrderLineDetails/roordlnd:RelatedLineNumber')= bpws:getVariableData('VariableLineNumber')">
    it is working fine.
I am trying to find out, in the first initial expression, when it worked through JDev, why it should have failed while using obant. (obant is being used by the testfloor to deploy the processes, where as developers use, JDev). I was under the impression, both these, namely, deploying through JDev and through obant, go through the same kind of checks and validations. Any input on this, please..
    Thanks and Regards,
    Vijay.

    Vijay,
I can confirm, that including the latest production version (10.1.2.0.2) - JDev does not use obant to deploy (or make) a process.
Even that both (meaning bpelc and the jdev compile process) use the same engine API, in certain cases obant is a little stronger with validations (which can be seen as strength or weakness)..
This has been addressed in our current work on 10.1.3 - with 10.1.3 both will use obant - which is based on ant (and bpelc will offer you remote deployment)
What version are you using? I have found a bug describing this behaviour (a little different situation - but might be the same base issue)
    hope this clarifies ..

  • What is the difference between Deploy TestStand system(3.1) and Run Engine Installation wizard(1.0) in Tools menu

    Hi,
       In TestStand

If you want to run a TS script that calls VIs on a Runtime engine only system you have to use the Deploy TestStand utility to do that. Since a Runtime Engine only system does not have vi.lib you must search all the .seq for VI calls and then traverse all the SubVis to find all the calls to VIs in vi.lib. The Deploy TestStand does that for you. It moves all the VIs and SubVIs to a SupportVI directory and mass compiles them. Once all VIs are within the same directory the runtime engine can find them.
Note: This is a very nasty poorly written tool. I had a deploy that would take about 6 hours to complete. I wrote my own that takes about 4 minutes to complete.
