Difference between deploying a process through JDev Vs using obant
Hi,
I have a Case statement in my BPEL process, which is like this:
<case condition="bpws:getVariableData('VariableOrderLinesForSimRelationship',concat('/roordprvd:OrderInitiateRequest/roordprvd:OrderLineDataShape[',bpws:getVariableData('CounterVariableLine'),']/roordlnd:OrderLineDetails/roordlnd:RelatedLineNumber'))= bpws:getVariableData('VariableLineNumber')">
When I deploy it using JDev, it gets compiled and deployed correctly.. However, when I am trying to deploy it using obant from the Developers prompt, it is giving the following compilation Error:
[bpelc] BPEL validation failed.
[bpelc] BPEL source validation failed, the errors are:
[bpelc]
[bpelc] [Error ORABPEL-10085]: invalid argument
[bpelc] [Description]: in line 949 of "C:\TEMP\CompareTelcoFiles\ROTelcoNewOrder\ROTelcoNewOrder.bpel", the second argument "concat("/roordprvd:OrderInitiateRequest/roordprvd:OrderLineDataShape[", bpws:getVariableData("CounterVariableLine"), "]/roordlnd:OrderLineDetails/roordlnd:RelatedLineNumber")" for getVariableData is not a literal expression.
[bpelc] [Potential fix]: Please correct the second argument, you might need to escape using single quote or " to make it literal.
[bpelc] .
However, when I changed the expression to:
<case condition="bpws:getVariableData('VariableOrderLinesForSimRelationship','/roordprvd:OrderInitiateRequest/roordprvd:OrderLineDataShape[bpws:getVariableData("CounterVariableLine")]/roordlnd:OrderLineDetails/roordlnd:RelatedLineNumber')= bpws:getVariableData('VariableLineNumber')">
it is working fine.
I am trying to find out, in the first initial expression, when it worked through JDev, why it should have failed while using obant. (obant is being used by the testfloor to deploy the processes, where as developers use, JDev). I was under the impression, both these, namely, deploying through JDev and through obant, go through the same kind of checks and validations. Any input on this, please..
Thanks and Regards,
Vijay.
Vijay,
I can confirm, that including the latest production version (10.1.2.0.2) - JDev does not use obant to deploy (or make) a process.
Even that both (meaning bpelc and the jdev compile process) use the same engine API, in certain cases obant is a little stronger with validations (which can be seen as strength or weakness)..
This has been addressed in our current work on 10.1.3 - with 10.1.3 both will use obant - which is based on ant (and bpelc will offer you remote deployment)
What version are you using? I have found a bug describing this behaviour (a little different situation - but might be the same base issue)
hope this clarifies ..

Differences between MIC and Process control
Hi
Could someone please let me know what are the major differences between MIC and process control 2.5.
I have heard that Process control 2.0 is not being used now.
So could you please let me know what the differences for MIC and Process control 2.5.
Regards
SandhyaHi Sandhya,
the major differences are:
- automated controls (SAP and non-SAP systems)
- UI interface based on NetWeaver Business Client (NWBC)
- flexibility on scheduling assessments and tests based on control attributes
- configurable reports and extraction to either .pdf or .xls
- possibility to se configure workflow to send reminders and escalations
- integration with Access Control 5.3, RAR component
- concept of service providers allowing controls to be referenced between different organizations (former MIC orgunit)
- assessments based on surveys (questions to be answered)
- effectiveness tests based on test plan (both tests and steps)

Difference Between Production Industry & Process Industry
Hi Freinds,
Hi have a query. What is the major difference between Production Industry & Process Industry?
I will give you a following example. Please carefully read it.
Take a example of TATA Motors. We all know it produces automobiles. So we will consider it as a Production Industry. But at the same time it uses the Paint to paint the vehicles is produced by it only. So can we call it as a Process Industry? If yes please explain it.
I will award deserving points accordingly for every reply.
Thanks & Regards
Saeed Arifproduction:- conversion / processing the raw materials to finished products.
differen type of industry:
job type of industry:- this is of mainly MAKE TO ORDER TYPE , suiting the particular customer requirments , after getting the order only you start doing the production
eg:- Turbine mfg by BHEL, Aircrafts and ship buildings etc.
so here your planning and costs change one order.
Repetative mfg or Batch tpe production: here the products wll be made in batches as lots eg 2000no or 5000nos qty as batches ,
here the planning and costing etc will differ from one batches to another.
eg: Automobile , apperal industry. this can be produced by strategies MAKE TO STOCK or by MAKE TO ORDER,
PROCESS INDUSTRY OR CONTINOUS TYPE OF PRODUCTIONS:
in this type of industry the Process remains same (constant) and procucts may with slight variation in composition, in this type of industy almost every thing is mechanised . this type of indstry will have LINE LAY OUT/PRODUCT LAYOUT
ie at one entry all the materials go in one line and processed and at the end of the line you will be getting finished products. the complete line will be controlled by automated sensors by using sopostigated sensors. the only problem here is that in LINE if one macine /station is have break down the complete production will comes to halt as one machine/station output is going to be input for oher staion/machine.
eg: cement, paints , food and beverages etc.
you can seggregate indstry type by materials or by the type of layout(ie mfg line)
so now coming to your doubt : TATA - AUTOMOBILES following hybrid type of laty out ie mfg of automobiles is functional layout , where there is flexibilty of planning , from paint sections on wards it follows line layout ..
so you have to call it is as product industry , intern which have line layout for cetain operations , which pertains to process industry... -

Differences between the O2C processes in SD and CRM
Hi
Can anyone tell me the differences between OTC processes in CRM and R/3?
Thanks
Taranghi
before that you need to understand what is the difference between the sales and business process
here it is
normal scenario of identifying the customer and getting the money for what we sold to him or gave him service is called Business Process.It includes a lot of activities like Sales Order, Delivery Picking(what kind of picking), and Invoice(what kind of invoice).But, where as a sales procees is nothing but it includes up to how we sold to the customer, like in SAP we can say that only up to sales order.
or
The sales process which relevant sales scenario such as sales order, delivery and billing where as business process which contains finance, material and sales scenarios it is nothing but complete business of the organization.
Bussiness process defines way of defining your businees needs,which includes
what type of businees you are carrying out.
Producion scenario to plaaning for production ,storage and dispatching with sales requirements to selling terms.
Sales process is part of your defined process ,how you do business with customers.(categarization of customers to discount to rebate)
Hope this will put some light on this issue.
Cheers
or
Sales Process is equiv. to the Order to Cash Process (OTC) which is an outflow process meaning an outflow of goods in exchange for cash, whereas a business process is equiv. to Procure/Purchase to Pay (P2P) process which is an inflow process meaning source of goods - where are goods sourced?....internal supply, external supply - which is an inflow process where good are sourced by company.
or
Business process is the Macro and Sales process is the Micro.
The sales process is limited just till processing the Sales Order. The Delivery - The Transfer Order (In case WM is active) - The Shipment are all a part of the Distribution process.
The business process complies of the way the whole sales cycle is carried out and it could be right from the inquiry till the Accounting Document is cleared.
now O2C is order to cash it is placed when ever final purchase order lies with the manufacturer,till date and end date bot are specified
rest you can have from above post
hope it will serve your purpose
best regards

Difference between Thread and Process
Hi!
I was googling about this subject, and I found this old thread on google: http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jspa?threadID=580508&messageID=2939031
My specific doubt is: can one thread inside in a process affect other thread inside in other process?
But, actually, the terms thread and process are not clear for me yet. I don't know what is the exact difference yet.> If I start a JVM, and Microsoft Word, and a web
browser, that's three processes. A process is an
OS-level construct.
Threads refer to concurrent execution paths withina
given process. Just like multiple processes canrun
in parallel within the OS, so can multiple threads
run in parallel within a process.
That's exactly what I understood. So, I suppose that
a thread in a process cannot affect other thread in
other process, can it?Not at the Java language level.
I mean, the wait( ), notify(
), etc, methods do not make sense if you consider
threads of different process, right?Right. Those are just methods that you call on objects. The same rules apply to them as to other methods. Now, with RMI, it might be possible to call wait(), etc. on a remote object. I've never use RMI, but I don't think that actually works. If it does, I expect it would be in an RMI tutorial.
Indeed, very confusing. They could facilitate,
defining a clear distinction between thread and
process.Well, there is a distinction in their "interface," if you will. It's just that their implementations can overlap.
Kind of like how a List and a Set are different, but you could implement a Set by composing it with a List. -
DIFFERENCE BETWEEN ----MTO & MTS PROCESS
HI,
CAN ANYBODY EXPLAIN THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN MTS AND MTO.I WANT TO CONFIGURE MRP RELATED CUSTOMIZATION.BASICALLY I AM AN MM CONSULTANT.SO KINDLY GIVE YOUR SUGGESTIONS.
FLEMMINGSHi,
In make to order process, u plan ur production on the basis of the orders u get. So, its like if u get some 10 orders, u'll plan ur production in a way that u can fulfill those 10 orders.
While in make to stock, u produce to stock ur materials, its like u plan ur production on the basis of ur production capacity and after production u stock that material. Now when the orders come u service them from the materials which u have already produced and is stocked....

Difference between deploying oracle report in RDF format and REP format
Hi All,
Good Day!!!
We are frequently encountering report failures in our production environment with the error message "REP-1247: There exist uncompiled program unit(s)"
But the report executes successfully in the next try and the issue is intermittant. In production the reports are deployed in RDF format.
So in our test environment we tried of deploying the reports in REP foramat and we cant find any errors.
Is there Difference in deploying oracle report in RDF format and REP format?
Is there any diffence in execution?
Your inputs will be much appreciated!!!
Thanks in Advance,
JKHi,
REP is to RDF what FMX is to FMB, MMX is to MMB, etc.
Only difference here is that if you deploy RDF, not REP, then the RDF is compiled at runtime by Reports Engine and then executed. In other words, if REP is deployed then it is straightway execute.
That should explain all your observations.
Cheers.
PS: Please post Oracle Report queries on {forum:id=84} forum.

Deploying bpel processes through ant
Hi all I have to deploy bpel through ant for this I am following below steps.
1) SET ANT_HOME to C:\jdev\ant
2) copied the followong jar files into ant home library orabpel.jar,orabpel-ant.jar, orabpel-boot.jar, orabpel-boot.jar,orabpel-exts.jar,orabpel-thirdparty.jar,oracle_http_client.jar,xmlparserv2.jar,orawsdl.jar
Below is my buil.xml
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="iso-8859-1"?>
<project name="bpel.deploy" default="deployTaskForm" basedir="." xmlns:oracle="antlib:oracle">
<target name="deployProcess">
<deployProcess
user="${admin.user}" password="${admin.password}"
domain="${domain}" process="${process1.name}"
rev="${rev}" dir="${process.dir}/output"
hostname="${http.hostname}" httpport="${http.port}"
verbose="${verbose}"
/>
</target>
<target name="deployTaskForm" depends="deployProcess">
<deployTaskForm
platform="${platform}" dir="${process.dir}/public_html"
domain="${domain}" process="${process.name}" rev="${rev}"
user="${admin.user}" password="${admin.password}"
hostname="${j2ee.hostname}" cluster="${cluster}"
rmiport="${rmi.port}" opmnrequestport="${opmn.requestport}"
oc4jinstancename="${oc4jinstancename}"
asinstancename="${asinstancename}" verbose="${verbose}"
/>
</target>
</project>
I am getting an error
C:\Documents and Settings\254876>cd C:\Documents and Settings\254876\Desktop\BPEL_ANT

BUILD FAILED
C:\Documents and Settings\254876\Desktop\BPEL_ANT\build.xml:36: Could not create
task or type of type: deployProcess.
Ant could not find the task or a class this task relies upon.
This is common and has a number of causes; the usual
solutions are to read the manual pages then download and
install needed JAR files, or fix the build file:
- You have misspelt 'deployProcess'.
Fix: check your spelling.
- The task needs an external JAR file to execute
and this is not found at the right place in the classpath.
Fix: check the documentation for dependencies.
Fix: declare the task.
- The task is an Ant optional task and the JAR file and/or libraries
implementing the functionality were not found at the time you
yourself built your installation of Ant from the Ant sources.
Fix: Look in the ANT_HOME/lib for the 'ant-' JAR corresponding to the
task and make sure it contains more than merely a META-INF/MANIFEST.MF.
If all it contains is the manifest, then rebuild Ant with the needed
libraries present in ${ant.home}/lib/optional/ , or alternatively,
download a pre-built release version from apache.org
- The build file was written for a later version of Ant
Fix: upgrade to at least the latest release version of Ant
- The task is not an Ant core or optional task
and needs to be declared using <taskdef>.
- You are attempting to use a task defined using
<presetdef> or <macrodef> but have spelt wrong or not
defined it at the point of use
Remember that for JAR files to be visible to Ant tasks implemented
in ANT_HOME/lib, the files must be in the same directory or on the
classpath
Please neither file bug reports on this problem, nor email the
Ant mailing lists, until all of these causes have been explored,
as this is not an Ant bug.

Hi,
In TestStandIf you want to run a TS script that calls VIs on a Runtime engine only system you have to use the Deploy TestStand utility to do that. Since a Runtime Engine only system does not have vi.lib you must search all the .seq for VI calls and then traverse all the SubVis to find all the calls to VIs in vi.lib. The Deploy TestStand does that for you. It moves all the VIs and SubVIs to a SupportVI directory and mass compiles them. Once all VIs are within the same directory the runtime engine can find them.
Note: This is a very nasty poorly written tool. I had a deploy that would take about 6 hours to complete. I wrote my own that takes about 4 minutes to complete. -
Difference between Computation and Process
Any Computation can also be implemented as a Process. Their "firing points" are also the same.
So, why do Computations exist at all?
ThanksVikas - I don't know but computations always fire before processes at any given firing point allowing processes to reference session state that may have been set by a computation at the same or earlier firing point. It's true though that a process can set session state as well, so a computation is just a special-purpose process with declarative attributes that allow for application or page items to be named as the object of the computation. But then a validation is merely a special-purpose process that does what it does. And a branch is a special-purpose process that does a URL redirect or something similar, and before there were report regions there were just processes...
