Deployment Msg: Error instantiating compiler: IO error writing cache

When i try to deploy to my OC4J server from jDeveloper I get the following:
Auto-deploying csldc-ejb.jar (ejb-jar.xml had been touched since the previous deployment)... Error compiling D:\OC4J903\j2ee\home\applications\CSLDC/csldc-ejb.jar: Error instantiating compiler: IO error writing cache: D:\OC4J903\j2ee\home\application-deployments\CSLDC\csldc-ejb.jar\deployment.cache
If I restart my container manually after the deployment the app works. But this is a pain in the ...
Any ideas on how to fix this? I think whats happening is the app server is trying to deploy the file before its finished recieving the file.

This was an OC4J bug. Applying patch 6058645 fixed the problem.

Whenever i try to burn a DVD in DVD studio pro i get this error message:

Formatting finished.
Building was not successful. See log."
This occurs no matter how big my project is, how many files i use, or what format. I thought originally the video files i were using to burn were corrupted, but i have since tried many different video files and many different formats. This message continues to come up. I have even reinstalled DVD Studio Pro and nothing has changed.
I don't have any clue what's causing this message or how to fix it???

That does not delete the update, it is deleting the preferences (which is one of the things always to do when things go nutso

Error when compiling, no error info

I use RH X5 and have encountered compilation problems...
When I click "Generate Primary layout" the output windows
stops during "Removing broken jumps..." and the window title
changes to "Result: Failed to generate WinHelp". No further help.

told there's no Primary Layout but do I want to generate it? I

particular Help project - you're right, the beginning is usually a
good place to start at...
This project contains a lot of text and bitmap files (showing
dialogs, message boxes etc), which are created with Alt+PrtScr and
copied into a Word doc. I created it 4-5 years ago using RH X3 and
imported a Word2000 doc containing all text & pictures. I
honestly don't remember if I copy-pasted (Ctrl+C Ctrl+V) all text
& pictures into the RH Word doc, or used the imported doc.
Anyway, I had no problems creating a Help file back then, and
subsequent updates also worked without compiler problems.
Last year I got a new laptop, which included Office 2003,
which also meant I had to upgrade to RH X5. I've since upgraded and
updated two other projects without running into any particular
problems, but then came the current baby with a lot of updated text
& bitmap files... What I did was:
- opened the old X3 files in X5 (no problems)
- copy-pasted new/updated text from a separate Word doc into
the RH Word doc
- copy-pasted new/updated bitmap files, same as the text
Everything went well until I wanted to generate the new
WinHelp2000 file... After countless futile attempts and A LOT of
swearing I started looking for help in Cyperspace and found this
eminent forum

IO error writing cache during ejb deployment

I am getting this error a lot when I deploy an ear to standalone oc4j. This happens when I run from the command line or from jdeveloper. Retrying it eventually works, sometimes to speed things up I shutdown oc4j and remove the file. Is there some way to prevent this from happening.
com.evermind.compiler.CompilationException: Error instantiating compiler: IO error writing cache: D:\oc4j\j2ee\home\application-deployments\WebTSApp\WebTSejb.jar\deployment.cache
at com.evermind.server.ejb.compilation.Compilation.compileClasses(Compilation.java:500)

This was a known issue before the preview release.
Workaround for the problem would be to change the Application name and EAR file name.
If you have the EJB deployment profile, Right mouse on it and choose Settings.
Change the name of the EAR file and the Application name and redeploy.

2) Also I recommend you to put the war file under the applications directory instead of default-web-app

Web Services Tutorial - Error instantiating web-application

Hi all -
I've been trying to follow the "Create a Web Service from a Java Class" tutorial in the JDeveloper help and I'm running into problems accessing the web-service. After starting the embedded OC4J server, I try to access the target URL and get the following error message:

Error compiling :C:\jdev\jdev\mywork\Application2\Project1\public_html: Syntax error in source or compilation failed in: C:\jdev\jdev\system\oracle.j2ee.10.1.3.40.66\embedded-oc4j\application-deployments\current-workspace-app\Application2-Project1-webapp\project1\runtime\MyWebService1_Service_SerializerRegistry12.java
The thing is, I've actually tried the steps on a separate computer and it worked perfectly. But it seems like I have something misconfigured on this system which is giving me problems. Does anyone have any suggestions for my problem?

I never did solve the problem. I decided to try out GeoServer for WFS and am very impressed. It was much easier to install and pretty feature-filled as well with a lot of documentation. I would definitely suggest checking it out to see if it will fit your needs.

Deployment Error -- JSP Compilation Error: java.lang.OutOfMemoryError -- nu

When I deploy WAR files with the precompile jsp option, I receive the following error:
Deployment Error -- JSP Compilation Error: java.lang.OutOfMemoryError -- null
Is there a way for me to precompile my jsp's without using this process? Once this blows up, the admin server gets hosed. This is very frustrating. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

You need little more memory :-), use java param -mx512M.
You can adjust it in OC Server properties
AS > OC4J_home(demo) > Server Properties
section Multiple VM Configuration, Command Line Options

Deployment failure after installing SP11 - Error in Compiling Flex App

After installing SP11 for Visual Composer, I am now not able to deploy any of my models, even though they compile successfully. The following was installed:
VCBASE11_0-10003602.SCA
VCFRAMEWORK11_0-10003624.SCA
VCFLEX11_0-10003616.SCA
The specific error is as follows:
Error in compiling Flex application: Error: Failed to read stylesheet: /vc/skins/defaultSkins.css

"TestModel" is the name of my model in this example. I would appreciate any assistance anyone can offer.

Hi Jim,
I have never heard of similar errors. Have you had a look at the stylesheet that is referenced? Maybe the file is corrupt, permissions are wrong or the path has changed? Try to change the defaultSkins.css.
You can also have a look at the source code after compiling. Select .mxml of iView AAD15H and have a look at line 23. Maybe you find some clues.

Error while compiling form in AS 10g deployed on Linux

I am trying to compile a form which references a PLL(PLX) file. I get the following error.

I have included the directories where the FMB and the PLL(PLX) files are available in the FORMS_PATH. I restarted the forms service through Enterprise manager once also.
Forms which don't refer to any PLL file compile successfully without any problem.
Also the above form compiles successfully without any problem in the windows development environment.
Any pointers would be genuinely appreciated.

There is one more thing which can cause this error. The Library file should have the extension in small case. i.e. the name of the file should be CUSTOM.pll, if the name is CUSTOM.PLL it will not work.
Btw, I thought the compiler would be looking for the 'plx' file 'CUSTOM.plx', but it seems it looks for the 'pll' file ? Can anyone through some light on this behaviour ?

You have to remove few components from your model to decrease the compiler generated LOC.

1.Divide problematic iViews into a number of nested iViews.
2.Optimize each model to reduce the number of elements that it

a.Reduce the number of signals by merging signals of the same name.
b.When your application updates forms with read-only fields, use
 expression boxes and a data store instead of signals.
c.Minimize the use of animations in your models, including form
 sliding and chart animation effects
d.Use a data store to store variables, instead of invisible forms.
 To display messages, use a simple text rather than a static dynamic
 expression.
3.For on-the-spot, temporary workarounds, you can try dragging an empty
layer onto the Design board. This sometimes solves the problem ad

Error in compiling flex - 64K limit

Hi folks,
I entered a new dimension in the flex compiling error dimension (see error-message below). Can anybody help me? I'm familiar with the 32K-problem ( and do have functional workarounds for that) but this one is a new one for me.

infortunately I'm not allowed atm to make the model public.
however, I circeled the problem and found a workaround. It has nothing to do with our "old pal 32K", this time it simply was a (sub-)model too large to get deployed (problem with the to-build XML-pakages.)
Background on this: It's a nested iview collecting a lot of data from different parts of a highliy complex model to process an RFC. For monitoring reasons I've switched some of the tables to visible and that acutally caused the error. After hiding the colums the error vanished. (actually was replaced by the 32K error. But that's like meeting an old friend, no problem any more....)
I'm looking forward to sharing the model some time. Would be interesting to get some feedback from the comunity..

Error when compiling jar of a project

I'm trying to create a .jar file of my project to run it on mobile (SymbianOs) to test it.
When i try to compile several errors of those types occurs:
first error type

an archive of your application gets created .ear for deploying it to J2EE engine and applicaiton is called through browser so it is not possible to deploy application in mobile (symbianOS )because it doesn't have J2EE engine to deploy.as moblie browser doesn't support too much UI controls and properties u have to refer the mobile compatibility of UI controls ..

Compiled Code Error Running Excel

Writing to Excel works fine with source code but gives this error with compiled code:
Open VI Reference in Dispose Report.vi->Write_to_Excel.vi->Golden_Thread_V2.vi<APPEND>
VI Path: C:\Golden Thread\Golden Thread V2.2.exe\Excel_Quit.vi
Built Application or Shared Library (DLL): Make sure all dynamically loaded VIs were properly included in the build specification for the application or shared library.
Any thoughts???

Hi Steve,
if you use for example the "Append Table to Report.vi", then you have in the "Excel" case a dynamic loaded vi, also in the "New Report.vi". See the picture.

Error in compiling flex compilation

Hi,
I recieve following log message after deploying my application:
Error in compiling Flex application:
Error: Branch between 8479 and 41869 around line 0 exceeds 32K span.
If possible, please refactor this component.
Failed to compile AAD8T3.mxml
The only thing I know is the iView that has code AAD8T3, so I suppose the error is in it.
But what is the error and what are the objects it relates to?

This is solved for Flex2, the up comming version of VC does not have this problem, but release dates for it are not set.
