Deployment using exploded archive

Hello, I have just one question:
Is it possible to deploy a large application with 1 archive file ( .ear ) which contains many modules (but modules are not packaged, just some directories with the same name than the module packaged).
Example:
test.ear/web.war
web.war is a directory, the same file structure than a web module packaged ...
Is it possible to do that ? WebLogic will accept that .ear ???

To complicate matters I'm also mixing in M2Eclipse & M2EclipseWTP, however I don't think that is part of the issue here.Your assumption is wrong. OEPE does not support M2Eclipse and trying to mix the two will not yield good results.

  • Problem in Deployment as Exploded archive

    Hi All,
    I am really saturated working on above. currently My application deploy as single .ear file. I need to deploy my application as exploded archive. for the same I have changed my deployment scripts which explode my ear file and .jar file inside .ear file in the applications dir of my domain. I also install weblogic as service. so then when I start the weblogic, it has got exception while deploying EJBmodule.
    <Error> <Deployer> < BEA-149205> <failed to initialize the application myapplication due to err { module name : EJBS.jar,Error:exception preparing module:EJBModule
    If someone has step-by-step process of deploying ear application as exploded in production please send it to me. I will be very thankful.
    Apart from that I have few queries.
    1. How workshop compile and build application. I know in normal case it uses wlwbuild but I would like in detail from where it gets information about what to build and how.
    2. when workshop build the application, where all classes are stored on server (in devlopment mode)

    Did you find my experiments with the Oracle AS at http://blogs.sun.com/marcoscorner? Look at the navigation bar to fina all the pieces;-)
    Maybe that gives you some hints.
    Thanks,

  • JSF 1.2 app is deployed only in exploded archive mode if JSF 2.0 facet used

    Hi.
    I'm developing JSF 1.2 + facelets application. The only way to configure eclipse WTP editors to properly handle xhtml pages is to install JSF 2.0 facet (there was facelets plugin before, but it was superseded by JSF 2.0 facet if I'm not mistaken). When application is deployed on WL, OEPE show message that JSF 2.0 applications can be deployed only in exploded archive mode.
    Is there any way to make OEPE to believe that this application is based on JSF 1.2 (as really is)?
    Regards,
    Vadim.

    Hi, Ian.
    You are stating that it's a JSF 2.0 app by selecting that facet - the tooling relies on your facet selection to determine what features are available.Thought as much. Determining which JSF implementation will be active at deployment time looks like very complicated task and facet version is a reliable source of such kind info. Sadly :)
    What "eclipse WTP editors" are you trying to configure?"HTML editor". Without JSF 2.0 facet it doesn't handle JSF taglibs' namespaces and EL expressions content assist/navigation.
    The other option is to install JBoss Tools richfaces support, but for various reasons I'd like not to.
    After using exploded deployment for a week now I see that it is not that slow as I initially thought (at least for a small project): JSP/XHTML changes picked up, class methods reloaded. Manual republishing is still not as fast as in case of the splitsource deployment, but it don't call it often.
    Thanks.

  • Wls 8.1 sp5 - cannot deploy exploded archive anymore

    Hi all,
    I used to deploy exploded archive in development mode with wls 8.1 sp4. When browsing the file system, the console used to show a radio button to the left of folders which contained an exploded war.
    Since I replace 8.1 sp4 with 8.1 sp5, this radio button does not appear anymore along folders that contain exploded war.
    Is this a known issue ? Anyone reproduced the same behaviour ?
    Thanks for letting me know of any workaround as this feature is really handy ...
    Kind regards,
    Regis

    Dear Prasanth,
    You're right; so what I did next was to rename my .jspx to .jsp, and this time round I hit this exception while accessing the index.jsp page, any idea what other stuffs I did to do?
    Thanks for your help!

  • Deploying exploded archives?

    Hi,
              I am doing J2EE/Struts/EJB Development on Weblogic 8.1.
              Have an EAR file with WAR file and bunch of EJB JARs inside that EAR.
              I need to do a lot of changes and additions to the GUI,
              which is mostly JSPs inside that WAR.
              Probably the easiest way to do it would be by editing
              JSPs deployed on Weblogic directly, however I can't do it,
              because it explodes EAR, but not WAR file inside the EAR.
              Is there a way of exploding WAR there [via console or Ant]?
              Or can I make changes to JSPs in my build folders and somehow auto-deploy them on running Weblogic ? I've heard of wldeploy, but not sure how to use it for that.
              [use Eclipse IDE]
              Please help !
              Thank you,
              Oleg.

    This should work with exploded archives where an exploded ear contains one or more exploded j2ee modules. If the webapps are exploded then any change made to JSPs is automatically re-compiled the next time you refresh the browser.
              exploded_ear/exploded_war/foo.jsp
              /WEB-INF/web.xml
              So in summary, using an exploded war should do the trick.

  • Issue with using the archive/deploy feature in CF10

    Hello, I have created a backup archive using the archive wizard under the packaging and deployment wizard.   This archive is from the parent instance and shows everything that I need to backup in the summary window properly, when I try to deploy this archive to a child instance I notice a few of the settings do not migrate over.   For example I did a deploy and noticed the mail, web services settings did not migrate over properly, they don't even show up in the summary window pre deploy.    If I try to manually add those options in the child instance I receive a generic error and it kicks me back out to the CF Admin login window.   Anyone run into an issue like this before?

    So I tried to create an archive file where only the mail settings were selected and named it mail.car from the parent instance.   The migration windows shows only mail settings have been chosen but when I chose to migrate that archive back into a child instance it still fails to carry over the mail server.   This is odd because in the deploy summary window it does show mail settings is being migrated yet the setting never actually does show up correctly.

  • How do I activate Office 2013 that I have deployed using ODT and App-V onto a Remote Desktop Server?

    I am setting up a demo Server 2012 R2 environment (1 DC server, 2 RDSH servers, 1 App-V server).
    I have created an Office 2013 volume license App-V package using the latest Office Deployment Toolkit. I have deployed the App-V package to an RDS server and it all works fine. However, I am unable to activate Office 2013 using the MSDN Office 2013 retail
    key because it tells me the product key is invalid for this version of Office. I've looked at the alternative of using the App-V Sequencer to create the Office 2013 package, but from what I've read this is not a Microsoft supported method.
    Is there any way that I can activate Office 2013 (volume license on RDS) using the method I've outlined above, or is there any way of using the Office2013 download from MSDN such that it can be packaged by the ODT (or App-V Sequencer) for successful deployment
    using App-V and activation using the retail Office 2013 product key on MSDN?

    True, VL channel media can't be activated with MSDN Retail pkeys (that's what I was trying to get you to understand, I figured you would be attempting that, as so many people do :(
    I've not attempted your scenario myself.
    It sounds like you aren't following the supported scenarios as (poorly) described by MS;
    The way I read their guide, for an RDS scenario, you must use a VL key [either MAK or KMS] (since a subscription product+key can't be used on RDS):
    i.e.: <Product ID="ProPlusVolume">
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2772509
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2915745
    http://technet.microsoft.com/library/dn481351.aspxhttp://blogs.technet.com/b/office_resource_kit/archive/2013/12/02/announcing-app-v-5-0-sp2-support-for-office-2013-volume-licensing-editions.aspx
    So, that all means that for RDS, you can't use anything other than VL "product" (in
    the form of an ODT-generated output) with a VL pkey. So, for your RDS demo setup, you need to use real product and real pkeys.

  • Can anyone tell me how to do a system level deployment using JNLP ?

    Hi All,
    Can anyone tell me how to do a system level deployment using JNLP ?
    Any example or link will be very useful.
    Thanks in advance..

    Thanks for the link. I can now able do configure on system level.
    Uniform for all users.
    However, I have three different environment running ( e.g : production, uat and dev )
    And I want to deploy all of them on system or enterprise configuration.
    I create the file "deployment.config" on jre/lib directory and put the entry as below :
    deployment.system.config=file:/E:/Deployment/XXXX/production/deployment.properties
    deployment.system.config.mandatory=trueNow, when I run other environment it will look on the production deployment. I have different
    version of jars for production , uat and dev.
    How can I archive that ? I want different universal "cache" of jars for all the three different environment.
    e.g ( production - in one loaction for all the users , C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\prod\cache
    uat - in one loaction for all the users , C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\uat\cache
    dev - in one loaction for all the users, C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\dev\cache )
    Is that possible ??
    Thanks in advance,

  • Does server start up quicker if applications on it are deployed as exploded

    Sorry but I have not been able to find an answer to this. Does WLS start up quicker (a cluster, upon any shutdown and restart of it) if the deployed apps on it were deployed as exploded directories vs. from .ear and .war files?
    Thanks!

    If you are talking about a development environment, you may find it more convenient to use an exploded format, to make deployments simpler ( file copy vs packaging )
    But in a production environment, you shouldn't need to be starting the servers so often that this ever becomes an issue, and the recommended format is to use packaged deployments ( .ear & .war ).

    I am under the impression that it should be ok to compiling on XP and then deploying on Solaris if the same jdk version is used, although it does sound better to do compile and deploy on the same server.

  • Windows 7 deployment using SCCM 2007 SP2

    Hi,
    We planning to do Windows 7 deployment using SCCM 2007 SP2 so we have some queries regarding same.
    Is it possible to take entire HDD backup & restore using SCCM 2007 SP2? Also is it recommended to do so?
    What will be the effective method to deploy OS at remote branches?
    If we want to save the network bandwidth then what will way to send image to distribution point and client as well.
    Is it mandatory to have PXE boot enable in bios & set as first boot preference on each client machine for PXE initiated windows 7 deployment? If so then is there any option to enable PXE boot & set as first preference on client machine
    remotely?
    Is it possible to deploy OS in other than C drive i.e D or E to have dual boot option?
    Which we will be best method to have zero touch deployment without any end user intervention and why?
    Please help to clarify.

    As Jason said, these are the configurations that requires some high level skills to configure it, the answers are the same as said by Arnav... below links would give you a good heads up for the OSD in SCCM if you still want to try it on your own...

  • Automated Deployment Using admin_client.jar gives 500 error

    Greetings,
    1. standalone OC4J version 10.1.3.3.0
    2. Windows XP platform in a VM
    We have a mature deployment in that the deployment from JDeveloper is routinely successful. During the course of developing continuous integration builds, the automated deployment is now failing. We had succeeded previously using admin_client.jar and the deploy command as follows:
        <target name="deploy_oc4j" depends="assembleEar"
      description="deploy the enterprise archive to a standalone oc4j using admin_client.jar">
        <echo>
          In deploy_oc4j target.

            <jvmarg value="-jar"/>
            <arg value="${oc4j.deploy.admin_client}"/>
            <arg value="${oc4j.deploy.username}"/>
            <arg value="${oc4j.deploy.password}"/>
            <arg value="-deploy"/>
            <arg value="-file"/>
            <arg value="${this.application.name}".ear"/>
            <arg value="-deploymentName"/>
            <arg value="${this.application.name}"/>
            <arg value="-bindAllWebApps"/>
            <arg value="${default.application.name}"/>
        </java>
        </target>We now have two issues occurring and they may be related. We have added the capability of creating a connection pool and a data source using admin_client.jar commands:
        <target name="connectionpool" depends="deploy_oc4j"
          description="create a connection pool using admin_client.jar">
        <echo>
        Adding a connection pool.
        </echo>

          </java>
        </target>
        <target name="datasource" depends="connectionpool"
          description="create a datasource using admin_client.jar">
        <echo>
        Adding Managed Data Source.
        </echo>
          <java classname="${j2ee.home}/admin_client.jar" fork="true">

            <arg value="-dbPassword"/>
            <arg value="password"/>
          </java>
        </target>We complete the automated deployment and all ant tasks succeed, including creation of the connection pool and managed data source. During this process, the existing system-jazn-data.xml file is overwritten and our Application's <login module> information has been deleted. Upon editing this file and adding back the login module data and restarting oc4j, we can login to our application. The framework of the site is present along with graphics, yet every page visited yields a 500 error (jspx +and+ HTML). Since the entire deployment is done from ant, we do not have the capability of specifying a the web-app as development configuration. We need advice on how best to debug the deployed application as well as knowledge regarding the mechanism which causes the system-jazn-data.xml file in the oc4j/j2ee/home/config folder to be modified.

    Found that jar files were missing from autobuild. This continues to be an issue where libraries are added to WEB-INF\lib in JDeveloper and the individual jar files are needed for an automated build process.

  • How the diference " publish as a virtual application vs  an exploded archive" ?

    how the diference " publish as a virtual application vs  an exploded archive" ?

    Hi,
    The following documentation describes the difference between virtual vs exploded archive deployment.
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E13222_01/wls/docs103/deployment/deployunits.html
    FYI: In OEPE, you can select the deployment option on Server Properties window. Here are the steps to switch between Virtual/Exploded archive deployment:
    > In Server view, right click on server configuration | select "Properties"
    > Expand WebLogic | and select "Publishing" to modify the mode

  • Error while deploying using ant in 11g

    Hi all,
    I am trying to deploy order demo application using ant from command line in SOA 11g. I just ran the ant script to package the composite and it is giving me below mentioned error.It is referring to 1 file in all the wsdls and creating problem. Actualy, JMS_FedEx.wsdl is partner link to JMS Adapter that writes to a queue. I am confused because I have 2 more adapter created on similiar lines like this but while compiling no error references are made to those wsdls. I am not sure What's wrong with this wsdl. However, Composite gets complied and deployed using Jdeveloper. Please provide your Inputs.
