Depreciate the Value of an Asset ignoring Cut Over Value Key

Hello friends,
I have maintained the Cutover Value Key at 5 % and maintained the same in Depreication Key
What is happening the system is depreciating an asset up to 95%
This is correct.
But what is required is that,
For few asset which is having Depreciation key i want
to depreciate an asset value up to 100 % without
making any changing in particular Depreication Key.
Please help.
Thanks

Hi,
You can copy that depreciation key to a new one and can remove the cutover key from the new depreciation key.
Change the asset master you wanted to have the new depreciation key.

Gaurav

• Uploading the Cost to Network - Activities in Cut over

Hi All,
As a part of Cut over activities, Is that possible to upload actual cost to Network - activities in Producion environment?
As a best practice, till now in my projects, I have uploaded the Intial cost to WBS only.
Regards
Prabu K

Hi Abdul,
While using KAFD, we can post legacy or historical actual cost.
The most important this is that, define one WBS element in your project structure and name it as Historical WBS element which will receive all your legacy costs. By doing so, we are posting all our legacy costs to One WBS element only.
Here what you have to do is difine the Historical cost elements which are used only for these migrated projects and not for regular opeative structures.
Input the current period - current period always be in which period project is being migrated.
then input the Year - in our case we have not defined multiple years but as a lumpsum amount in current year (the year project is migrated) that will stay as historical cost. You will not see any break up of historical costs in SAP but you can see break up of actual coss in legacy system.
Hope this clarifies and let me know if you need any further inputs.

• Asset: line items reduced the cut-off value by 1.00

Hi,
We have an invoice posted to wrong asset code and we are unable to reverse it due to the reason u201Cline items reduced the cut-off value by 1.00u201D
Kindly advise how can we reverse this invoice from SAP system. The invoice was wrongly posted to the wrong asset which has been fully depreciated already.
We also can not do the transfer. As the asset posted to wrong asset (old asset that fully depreciate); once we do LIV the system also depreciate full amount of this new asset. So now the value is 1. It suppose to post to new asset and depreciate for 3 years. Please kindly assist and thanks.

• Depreciate the assets in the depreciation area 15 (taxes) only

I need continue with the obsolete asset depreciation, so, I need those assets are not depreciated on areas 01, 02, 03, just need depreciate in area 15(taxes) for report purposes only,
we tried to lock the depreciation on 01, 02 and 03 areas by changing the depreciation key to 0000,
and it worked.. but dont know how depreciate the area 15....because when the AFAB is run, the asset doesnt appear there...we could made the depreciation on area 15 in a manual way only
in other words
I have already setup area 15 for taxes only with no update to G/L. I also set my asset with 0000 dep key for areas 01 and 03 and LINI to area 15. But when I run AFAB, I was expecting to see my asset depreciating for area 15 only, but it didn't show up in the output list. do you know how can I depreciate only area 15 (taxes) ? Is there a place to set AFAB transaction to consider area 15 in the depreciation? ...

I have already setup area 15 for taxes only with no update to G/L.
If you have disabled your depr area to post it to GL how can you expect to see it in AFAB run. This looks like a notional area for Tax depreciation. Why dont you run Tax depreciation report and get your depreciation values from there... Check your business scenario if Area 15 is suppose to post to GL or not and configure accordingly.

Hi
Check the cut off value settings for the receiving asset class and company code
Remove this Cutoff Key from your Depreciation key.

• Changed asset cut off value

Hi experts
In my compnay all assets have 5 % scrap value (cut off value). that means asset must have ramain 5% of basic value at the end of useful life. but now cilent want 100 % depreciable asset.(want to remove that 5% value). Is it possible for old asset which already capitalized and depreciated since past so many years.
If yes then what will be the Financial effect.
Regards
Nisha

Hi Nisha
You can only make changes in the open fiscal year in Asset accounting.
You will have to change the depreciation key for 5% cut off value to nil.
The effect of these would eb as follows.
System would determine depreciation for all assets based on changed depreciation key.
Example is as follows
Asset A, Net book value of 1000 USD on 01/01/2008. (Fiscal year 01/01/2008 - 31/12/2008)
Each month Asset is depreciated for 100 usd. so for period 1-9 system will post depreciation 900 usd.
In period 10 system will post depreciation of 50, since cut of value is at 950.
Lets Assume that depreciation run for period 11 is done where this asset is not taken for depreciation posting since cut of value has reached.
Now in period 12, you change depreciation key for cut of value to be 0% then system will recalcluate depreciation for tht year
IN our case total depreciation to be posted for this year is 1000 usd where as only 950 usd has been posted till date.
So additional 50 USD will be calculated as outstanding depreciation in period 12.
In FI it will hit your P&L and in B/S your Accum dep Account.
Hope this helps.
Thanks
Sanjeev

• Write up the value adjustment in Asset Accounting

Hi All,
I did the asset transfer with in the company code using T-code: ABUMN
Old Asset # 1000
Asset Value Date: 18/04/2006
Estimated Life time: 5 Years
Depreciation: Every year: $ 5400.00/12 = $ 450.00 p.m.
For the current year up to 31 Mar 2007 – Posted Depreciation is $ 5400.00
I did the asset transfer
New asset # 2000
Asset Value Date: 18/04/2006
Estimated Life Time : 15 Years
Depreciation Posted up to 31/03/2007 - $ 1800
The issue is, after I did the transfer, the book value of the old asset # 1000 has transferred to new asset # 2000, the depreciation has also calculated correctly- $ 1800
In addition to that, an extra amount $ 450 (Depreciation amount of the old asset #1000 per month) has also deducted the book value of new asset # 2000
The Current information of New Asset #2000
Acquisition Value: $ 27000
Ord. Dep – Posted $ 1800 -
Value Adjustment $ 450-
Net Book Value $ 24750 - But this value is not correct.
What I need to do that, I have to maintain the book value for the new asset #2000 for the current year 2006-07 is $ 25,200.00 and meanwhile require an entry for that value adjustment $ 450.
If I want to do write up the value adjustment amount $450 for the current year, the system doesn’t allow to post the transaction and also in FI Doc posting (Because the account that I would like to post is a Recon Account). My company wants to write up in current year only ($450)
Can you help me to resolve the issue?
Thanks with Regards,
Bala

Hi Murali,
Well and thank you for your answer and meanwhile you didn't mentioned that How to set back the Recon a/c indicator for the G/L acoount. Because I tried to reset and the system gives the Error message "the account is having balance" and doesn't save.
But Finally I tried with T-code: OAK5 and result was fine.
Thank you for your information.

• Value addition on asset

Hi,
Please let me know how SAP would calculate depreciation in the following business scenario.
Jan 1st 2004: An Asset is aquired for $1000.
Life time: 3 years
Depreciation on Dec 2004: $300
Depreciation on Dec 2005: $300
Value left on asset: $400
On Jan 1st 2006 or some time during the 3rd year, the asset got re-furbished and now the value of the asset after refurbishment is $600 and with an additional life time of 2 years.
By accounting principles, I would expect the asset to depreciate
Depreciation on Dec 2006: $300
Depreciation on Dec 2007: $300
Retirement.
What would SAP do in this context?
Thanks,
Sivaram

Once the depreciation start date is set, the subsequent acquisitions will take this depreciation start date as reference, and not the date of the subsequent acquistion, as you are assuming.
Please read SAP note 46456, which explains this issue more in detail.
The 'Calculate according to asset value date' indicator in the calculation key for the depreciation cannot be maintained as of maintenance level 3.0E. As SAP note 53166 describes this indicator frequently caused misunderstandings. And that is why this function has been "removed".
But, you can still configure this behaviour with a modification, in table T090NP, field XBZDAT at your own risk. Please beware that with such a modification, there is no support in case of future incidences. In note 814004 you will find a short report which enables you to change the parameter.
I hope this will help you.
Kind Regards,
Pankaj

• Problem in cut off value key calculation

Dear Experts,
We have assigned a cut off key with 5% in our depreciation key with tick on " Scrap value deduction from base value".
We have made a service entry sheet on 13/12/2014. On the same day we have reversed that SES. But system is taking the effect of cut off value key on depreciation calculation in case of original service entry sheet only. System is not taking effect of cut off value key on reversal of SES. Because of this there is a difference between depreciation posted through SES and reversal of SES. Ideally these ( depreciation posted through original SES and depreciation posted through reversal of SES) should be knock off.
I am not understanding whether this is standard behaviour of SAP or we are missing something. For better understanding I am attaching the screen shot of AW01N of asset.
Regards,
Ankit K. Agarwal

Hi Ankit,
System definitely consider scrap value for reversal also. I did testing it is picking. Can you check once again the depreciation posted.
Regards,
Mukthar

• Error when adding the sums of time duration when 1 cell value is 0

I am creating a very basic spreadsheet on my iPad to be used as a time clock by my 3 employees. Columns A & B are times in and out respectively and column C is the duration (B-A.) Rows 1-6 are Monday-Saturday and row 7 (specifically cell C7) is the sum of the durations of each day. So far, so good. Here's the problem...I would like to keep the same formula (C=B-A) in each cell from C1 to C6 regardless of whether or not that employee actually worked that day. When nothing is entered into columns A or B, the resulting value for column C is 0. When the value of any cell in column C is 0, the formula in cell C7 (=sumC1:C6) results in an error. Any ideas???
Also, is it possible to cut or delete the text of a cell and leave the cell formatting (i.e. fill colors, text color, boarder, etc)?
Thanks again,
Matt

"When the value of any cell in column C is 0, the formula in cell C7 (=sumC1:C6) results in an error. Any ideas???"
Hi Matt,
The error is that SUM cannot deal with a collection of values that contains both durations (eg. 1h 12m) and numbers ( eg. 0 ).
Don't let the value in any cell in the range be 0.
Your formula in column C is now: =B-A
If both B and A are empty, the result will be zero.
Use this revised formula: =IF(OR(LEN(A)<1,LEN(B)<1),"",B-A)
If either of the cells required to complete the subtraction has no data, the formula rturns a null string—a text value, which will be ignored by SUM. When both A and B contin Date and Time values, the formula returns a duration, and SUM will work.
Regards,
Barry

in on asset class i have created 2 assets by using of aso1 after that i acquired one asset for that i run the depreciation for first 5 periods, it has been showing depreciation for those period but if i am trying to run the depreciation for second asset it is not showing first 5 periods why it is not showing? Is there any reason?

Hi
Repeat run you can do only for the last depreciation period. For the asset which you are tryin to post depreciation from July to Jan, please check the asset value date which you have given while posting the transactions or in the asset master.
If the asset value date is in July, then deprecaition from July - Jan will get posted in the current month depreciation in total. You will not be able to post depreciation individually month wise using AFAB.
