Depreciation forecast after Asset revalution with AR29N inconsistent

There is a need to revalue assets on a certain date in the current
fiscal year. We did all the steps necessary to carry out revaluation
using Transaction AR29N, using the "new valuation of an asset"
function. After the reval the asset master was updated with the new Depreciation key and new useful life/dep start date.
SAP calculated the forecasted depreciation incorrectly in the
first few attempts, but after some testing it worked fine and we posted
periodic depreciation. This worked as expected. Using the same settings
in the same company code a new asset was revalued with a new value
date. The problem has returned although nothing was changed in the
system, The fore casted depreciation does not make sense.
Examples:
1. Asset Original Value at FY start - $100 with a planned dep of $1 for
the remaining useful life. Depreciation for 4th FP posted. Asset revalued
with a value date corresponding to FYP 04/2011. Revalued at $1200 with
new useful life of 24 months and new Dep start date corresponding to
start FYP 03. Expected depreciation PM is $50. This scenarion worked
fine.
2. Asset Original Value at FY start - $100 with a planned dep of $1 for
the remaining useful life. Depreciation for 4 FP posted. Asset revalued
with a value date corresponding to FYP 05/2011. Revalued at $2400 with
new useful life of 24 months and new Dep start date corresponding to
start FYP 03. Expected depreciation PM is $100. SAP shows forecasted
monthly depreciation of $108 per month

Hi Manish,
Are revaluated values appearing correctly in asset explorer (AW01N) both APC and depreciation.
If no then I would suggest to run AFAR for recalculate depreciation.
Thanks!!!

  • Depreciation Problem after asset transfer

    Hi All,
During our month end, our user did the asset transfer within the same company code. When he runs the Depreciation through AFAB, the new asset is not showing any depreciation for current month, where as Old asset has some balance. I checked the new asset and in the Depreciation area, the Dep. start date is showing as 05/02/08. We changed the date to 03/02/2008 through AS02, but still it is not showing up any depreciation. I do have following questions.
    1. Can we transfer asset before depreciation run or run the depreciation first and then do the transfer. In our case we already transfered, so how do we fix it.
    2. I wonder how it is getting the Odep. start date as 05/04/08. Is it defined some where in Depreciation key/
    3. Can we run depreciation excluding that new asset. If so, how it can be done
Please let me know if anyone has come across this, and how to solve this.
    This is an urgent.
    Thanks
    Kris

    Hi Muriel,
I am very sure you did not do it correctly. Now, this is the step to follow:
    1. First adjust the APC value to what it should be using transaction code <b>ABSO</b>. Once you're sure that your Acquisition Value is correct, the next thing to do is
    2. To execute transaction <b>AFAB</b>(Depreciation Run) in "<b>Test Mode</b>". This would give you the depreciation that would be posted by the system asset by asset. This are under three main headings namely: "<b>Planned</b>", "<b>Posted</b>" & "<b>To Post</b>".
Depending on your depreciation method, the "<b>Planned</b>" figure gives the total amount the system would post for the financial year whilst the "<b>Posted</b>" figure gives you what has been posted up to date and the "<b>To Post</b>" figure gives you what would be charged to the P&L when you run <b>AFAB</b> in Production mode.
Your Net Book Value(NBV) at the end of the depreciation run for say November 2006 would be <b>NBV</b> = <b>APC</b> - (<b>Posted + To Post</b>)
If Posted + To Post (i.e. Accummulated Depreciation) is more or less than what you expect it to be from you manual calculation, you then need to adjust the figure upward or downward depending on the situation at hand. That is when you now need to
    3. Perform Manual Depreciation Adjustment using either transaction code <b>ABAA</b> or <b>ABMA</b>.
You can then use <b>AW01N</b> to view the asset. You would be able to see the different postings made. Do not forget to run <b>AFAB</b> in production mode. If not, no depreciation value would be posted and your report would still be wrong.
    I hope the above helps.
Do not forget to award the points please.

    Jacob

  • Oracle Fixed Assets API for updating depreciation flag after conversion

    Hi frnds,
Do we have any API's or update program to update the depreciation flag after asset conversion. We are converting all the legacy assets from 11.0.3 to r12 with a depreciation default flag of 'N' since depreciation is already calculated in 11.0.3 and we don't want to calculate any depreciation when we run our year end depreciation in R12. But anyhow at a later point we need to update the depreciation flag to the original value that of 11.0.3 in r12, so can you please help me if there is any API or standard program to update the depreciation flag.

  • Control posting asset revaluation

    Hi All,
Anyone knows what transaction type I can use to do asset revaluation WITH depreciation back ?
I'm using AR29N , and the transaction type always ask me to chose the control posting "Without Depreciation Write-Back"
    Regards,
    -M-

    Hi M,
There is a difference in the posting logic between the function "with depreciation write-back" respectively "without depreciation write-back".
In principle if you choose with depreciation write back the report will post the revaluation directly to G/L (for realtime postings areas).
Whereas the standard revaluation function respectively ABAWN without depreciation write-back posts first to the asset module only, and the G/L entries will be created by the depreciation.
You can find some helpful information about the posting of new valuation
amounts in the SAP Help Portal at: http://help.sap.com/erp2005_ehp_04/helpdata/EN/54/ed813ee3d32b44e10000000a114084/content.htm
If you want to post with depreciation write-back, you have to create a  new transaction type in customizing which is based on transaction type group 89. Within the link I provided above there is also one chapter "Configuring Revaluation Transaction Types".
I hope this helps you further.

  • Asset Revaluation issue - Reval of Current year depreciation

    Hi All,
We are setting up the system to do asset revaluation for our company code in South America. My client wants to
revalue the assets from Jul'09 to Dec'09.
    1) We have maintained inflation indexes for the last day of each period in the year 2009.
    2) Maintained Posting Variants and Time Base and Exposure variant accordingly for all the periods and year as 9999.
    3) Assigned the appropriate Time base and exposure variant in the period control method.
    4) Maintained the Revaluation Areas:
    a) Area 01 - Book
    b) Area 02 - Inflation Adj (Revaluation Area)
    c) Area 03 - Derived (Area 01+Area02)
    d) Area 22 - Infla Adj in Group Currency
    5) Maintained the Revaluation key and assigned it to the relevant Asset classes by Depreciation Area (02 and 22)
    6) Maintained the transaction types as below:
897 - Revaluation (downward) current year
892 - Revaluation (upward) current year
891 - Revaluation (downward) prior year
893 - Revaluation (upward) prior year
    7) Maintained the Inflation Method and last revaluation date on Inflation method as 01.07.2009.
    8) We have also activated the Revaluation after useful life.
With this setup in the system I took a test asset which had depreciation postings for the period 08 and 09. When I
ran the J1AI - Revaluation (Inflation) Program in the test run mode the outcome was that the APC value of the asset
was being revalued and Revaluation of Prior year Depreciation but not the Revaluation of current year
Depreciation. Can anyone tell me why current year Depreciation is not being revalued.
Am I doing something wrong process-wise or configuration-wise?
Please help me in resolving this issue.
    Regards,
    Raj

    Hi Rajesh Phanibatla,
I've always happened that Issue. But what I realized is that although the program output (J1AI) does not show you nothing on "Rev of CY Depn", the system calculates. This only happens for the first month of adjustment (In your case, Aug 08).
Try checking the test asset with the Assets Explorer (AW01N) just after running the adjust (J1AI) in background process (NO test mode) at 31.08.2009. See if the area Area 02 - Inflation Adj (Revaluation Area) on "Posted values" tab shows something different to zero on month 08 with "Planned" status.
Then, for the adjustment of the following months, the output of the program will show you the "Rev of CY Depn" value.
If you want, let me know your email to show you a presentation (PowerPoint in spanish) that has screens that I captured on that occasion that happened to me.
I hope this is your case and can help you that I said.
    Good Look!
PD: Sorry for my bad english :S

  • Calculation of Depreciation on Net Book Value after posting Revaluation on

How to calculate the depreciation on Net book value after posting Balance sheet revaluation ABAW? The depreciation is been calculated on APC and not on NBV, as the APC of asset has been revalued after the revalution posting, ideally the next period depreciation should be calculating on the new NBV, but the system is not doing this. Is there any specific configuration that Iam missing here.
    Kindly Reply.

  • Calculate Depreciation Forecast for Fixed asset

    Dear all expert,
I'm new to ASO, would like to know if there's a way to do depreciation forcast for fixed asset in Essbase.
    1. Database type is ASO
    2. Assuming user will prepare forecast caplitialization of fixed asset then upload to Essbase
    3. Attribute dimension "Useful life" has been defined and attached to specific "Accounts" dimension for calcluation
    4. Need to calculate the forecast and spread of depreciation for future months
E.g. Input 32000 USD for a fixed asset cost with 32 months useful life
-> should calculate 1000 each month for the coming 32 months
Can any expert suggest how to do this in ASO? meaning only can do calculation in member formula itself, not calculation script.
Thanks for your help in advance,
    Billy

I haven't used the feature, but the reference to 'local script_file' in the MaxL railroad diagram for the 'execute calculation' command suggests the location is relative to the client, if the semantics are consistent with the 'export data' command (the options for report scripts there are 'server' or 'local', although according to the railroad diagram there is no non-local alternative in this case!).
There is a worked example in a Rittman Mead blog post about this that might help: http://www.rittmanmead.com/2010/04/oracle-epm-11-1-2-essbase-calculations-on-aso-cubes-part-2-maxl-scripts-and-eas/
The DBAG also says that the script files should have suffix .csc, while the Tech Ref example has suffix .txt - helpful!! If they were actually meant to sit in the server's db directory, I would be surprised to find the .csc suffix used, since that is also the suffix for aggregation scripts. Although me being surprised doesn't mean much.

  • Asset depreciation forecast

    Hi,
Is there a std sap report wherein it would list all the assets and also forecast the depreciation period wise for say period 1 to period 12 for the year 2008. I want the listing of all the assets along with the forecast not like in asset explorer wherein you would get for only a particular asset.
    Thanks in advance,

    Hi,
    Try Reports
S_ALR_87012936 - Depreciation on Capitalized Assets (Depreciation Simula
    S_ALR_87012026 - Depreciation Current Year
    Hope this suits ur requirement.

  • In oneasset class i have created 2 assets by using of aso1 after that i acquired one asset for that i run the depreciation for first 5 periods, it has been showing depreciation for those period but if i am trying to run the depreciation for second asset i

in on asset class i have created 2 assets by using of aso1 after that i acquired one asset for that i run the depreciation for first 5 periods, it has been showing depreciation for those period but if i am trying to run the depreciation for second asset it is not showing first 5 periods why it is not showing? Is there any reason?

    Hi
Repeat run you can do only for the last depreciation period. For the asset which you are tryin to post depreciation from July to Jan, please check the asset value date which you have given while posting the transactions or in the asset master.
If the asset value date is in July, then deprecaition from July - Jan will get posted in the current month depreciation in total. You will not be able to post depreciation individually month wise using AFAB.

  • Add depreciation area to old assets (revaluation area)

    Hi guys,
I've created a new depreciation area for setting revaluation of assets. This new dep area only contains revaluation of assets (we'll only have revaluation and depreciation of this revaluation in this new area), so I've configured it to manage only revaluation values. Acquisition values are not allowed.
In OABC i've put "00" in the area where this new area takes values from, due to i don't want thhis new area to copy acquisitions values from area 01.
I've made the rest of the configuration also, to support revaluation transactions (mov 800) in this new area. But, I've got 2 problems now:
    1. The new area i configured is missing when creating a new asset in AS01. However, when using AS91 the new area shows up. Any idea of why this happens that way?
    2. I cannot add the new area in old assets. When using AFBN a message appears: "Depreciation area 20, which you want to create as a new depreciation area in chart of depreciation PVPE, has no depreciation area defined for value takeover. This may be be correct for normal operation, however for the purposes of creating a new depreciation in the productive system, you have to enter a depreciation area whose values are used as base values for the new area."
Message makes sense, because my new area is not copying values from any area (in tcode OABC i defined 00 as dep area source). The question is.. is there any additional tcode where i can add the new depreciation area to old assets?
    Thanks in advance.
    Eduardo

    Hi,
    there are the following steps:
    1. Create Depreciation area via OADB.
    2. Activate Depreciation area via OAYZ.
    3. Automatic opening of new depreciation are via AFBN and program RAFABNEW :
3.1 - Indicator: Leave values initial = not ticked.
The system will copy all the past years values from
               depreciation area 01.
3.2 - Indicator: Leave values initial = ticked.
Set this indicator if you want to open the newly created
depreciation area without any values i.e. blank.
    4. Recalculate depreciation via AFAR and program RAAFAR00.
    Following notes for information:
430618     Procedure for setting up new depreciation area
857601     Parallel currency area and RAFABNEW

    Dear Friends,
I have configured Group Assets scenario and it is working fine for postings but in depreciation I am facing the problem,

    1. I have created Group Assets - 10000 with depn start date 01042011.
    2. I also created actual assets  -20000  assigned it to group assets 10000 & Actual assets Depn start date is 01052011.
    3. i have done the inward for actual assets.
Now when i look asset explore at group assets level it is calculating depn for actual assets 20000 from 01042011 I mean  from Group Assets depn start date.but i want it to calculate depn from actual assets Depn start date(from 01052011).
can any one help to resolve this issue please ?
    Thanks,

  • Error while doing depreciation forecast

    Hi,
While doing depreciation forecast in S_ALR_87012026 we are getting error -
"Fiscal year change not yet made for company code LTIC"
Same error is given while checking asset balances via S_ALR_87011963 .

    Hi,
If you don't want or cannot close the current fiscal year yet, please check if maybe you have the previous fiscal year still opened, too.
It is required to do the fiscal year change in order to be able to run the mentioned reports in a new fiscal year. However, since in asset accounting only 2 years can be open at any one time you should check for example if maybe your last fiscal year is 2001 and therefore you would need to close fiscal year 2002 first using RAJABS00 and then open fiscal year 2004 using report RAJAWE00. If this rule (2 years open in AA only) is taken into account, you sould have no problems to do the fiscal year change and running reports in the new fiscal year should work.
You can check your last closed fiscal year in table T093B-ABGJA.
You still can continue working in your previous fiscal year, the report RAJAWE00 is only a technical step and updates the table T093C-LGJAHR with the new fiscal year. For each asset, which is active, a new entry for each depreciation area in ANLC will be generated and ANLB-LGJAN is set to the new fiscal year. But the system only allows this step, when no more than one previous fiscal year is opened (eg. 2003 is the only open fiscal year, so 2004 can be opened now).
Please assign points if it useful.

  • Asset CO assignment in ASKB after asset retirement

    Hi,
We have defined two depreciation areas 01 and 03 (which its revaluation area). Area 03 has the Posting G/L set to 4 (Area Post APC directly and Depreciation).
If I post a retirement (let's say by Scrapping), and I have a loss that goes to the automatic defined account(P&L account).  When I later on try to run ASKB to make the posting from area 03, it's there some way that the loss account gets the CO assginment (i.e. Cost Center) from the asset master data (not a fixed CeCo defined in OKB9 or any other similar), as it happens for example when I run AFAB for the expense depreciation account.
We would need the transaction to post each loss account detailed by Cost Center, in case there's multiple retirements that would get posted trhough ASKB.
I just would like to know if it's possible or if i'd have to use a predefined CeCo using for example OKB9. Or if you have a better approach to this problem.
What we need is to get each loss on retirement for each depreciation area to have the cost center of each individual asset posted with its corresponding amount.
    Thanks for your time.

    Hi,
activate the accounting object cost center for "APC posting" in the appropriate IMG step FI-AA. Check that there is a cost element behind the P&L account and that the field status allows the cost center to be posted in the G/L account. Then ASKB will post to CC also.

  • Assets Revaluation

    Hello,
    I need some help, please!
I have to do this kind of revaluation:
    E.g.: aquisition value = 50000; useful life = 10 years
            depreciation per year = 5000
    After 2 years: the revaluated value = 64000;
                        the accumulated depreciation = 10000
                        the book value = 50000 - 10000 = 40000
It  means that we have an increase in asset value = 64000 - 40000 = 24000
Now I have to do the posting:
24000      asset  value  = reserves from revaluation  24000
but I want to keep historically the aquisition value(50000) and the revaluation(24000).
The remaining life is 8 years and the new depreciation is 64000/ 8 = 8000
After 1 year:  the new revaluated value of this asset = 30000
                        the accum. deprec. = 8000
                        the book value = 64000 - 8000 = 56000
    It means that we have a depreciation = 56000 - 30000 = 26000
    So, I have to post:
         ______________________________ =   asset value  26000
         24000   reserves from revaluation
           2000   expensive from depreciation
                         / impairment of assets
I want to keep also the aquis. value and all revaluation values.
Well, can somebody tell me what should be the solution? (I need different revaluation area, etc)
    Thanks!

    Hi,
I don't know your set up.
In this situation I will use 3 depreciation area.
    01 Normal creating postings
10 Values from 01 and the revaluation Statistical one
    20 Area 10 - 01 creating postings for the differences between 01 and 10.
Don' forget to allow negative values for area 20 (and perhaps 10)

  • Depreciation forecast report

    Hello All,
I need a depreciation forecast report that gives me the depreciation by month. It needs to subtotal by cost center and asset class. Eg if cost center X has deprecaition of 5000 which is comprised of asset class A of $1000 Asset classs B of $1000 and Asset Class C of $ 3000. I need to see
    Cost Center  X   Asset class A 1000
    Cost Cener  X   Asset Class  B 1000
    Cost Center X  Asset Class  C  3000.
I was trying to use report S_ALR_87012936 to achive this but i can only achieve this when i run this report at a detailed level. When i run it on a summary level, the cost center is not available.
Is there a way i can achieve this?
    Thanks,
    Zaid Azam

    Hi,
in report S_ALR_87012936  the summary level is more or less only a different layout and a reduced field catalogue. There is no performance improvement on the summary execution. This is different to the most other FI-AA standard reports.
So my proposal: run it on summary level, but create a layout according to your needs on the output list. Then you can start this report already as of the next time with the layout, or you can choose it on the output list any time you need it. If you need this, you could also default this individual layout.
    Regards,
    Markus
