Depreciation key issue

Hi Gurus,
we have 100 assets,at the time of creation of asset master data, every time we have to give the depreciation key manually or is there any additional settings we have to do.
regards
jana

Hi!
Kindly read F1 help on field XDAILY in the customizing of the
depreciation key for an explanation :
The "depreciation to the day" function becomes active for an asset as
soon as the asset has a corresponding depreciation key and the asset is
capitalized (posted to). Once this takes place, it is no longer possible
to switch off this function for the asset, even if you change the
depreciation key. On the other hand, it is not possible to activate this
function for an asset after it has already been capitalized using a
different depreciation key.
Please consider also note 1036569 in case the error is not justified
according to the above information. However, from your attachment I
gather that you are trying to change depreciation key in ara 01,
hence note 1036569 may not be the solution either.

  • Asset Depreciation Key

    Dear Gurus,
I am facing an issue with setting up a depreciation key.
    The principle is the following / 15% / year - 1st year 7.5%
    No NBV < 0
Period control // everything to be calculated 1st day of the year
I have tried to do something with multilevel method - but I think I am missing something.
    Enclosed, screenshots...
Thank you all for your ideas and your help.

    Hi,
Define multi level method for the dep.key as shown below.

  • Creation of Depreciation key

    Dear All,
When i am creating Depreciation keys...i am giving various methods which i defined...but when i am saving
the depreciation key i am getting following warning...
    1000 CA06 N 1: Percentage rate required for depreciation calculation method P
    Diagnosis
You have to enter at least one percentage rate in multi-level method C06. This is required in combination with depreciation calculation method P in base method IND1.
    System Response
    Data is not saved.
    Procedure
Use a different base method or a different multi-level method, or enter a percentage rate. The incorrect entry is in 1000 CA06 N 1 (chart of depreciation, depreciation key, depreciation type, depreciation phase).
Will there be any impact when i am doing my transactions......
Please help to resolve the issue
    Sapfrido

    Dear,
    Sapfrido.
When you maintain P as Stated Percentage in your BASE METHOD it is need to maintained the percentage for the specified key in your Multilevel Method , So in accordance with your mentioned one criteria system will carry out depreciation calculation.
Hope this will help you to understand.
Please revert if you need clarification.

  • Depreciation Key change

    Hi
    Emergency request***********
Recently I had a requirement for change of depreciation key in the asset classes in depreciation areas 01- book depreciation to calculate straight line depreciation as the old depreciation key was not doing as requested. This was asked to configure for new assets. But, Now when the depreciation key is updated for all the assets and the depreciation is calculated very high and the deprecation is posted for that period.
I know there is no way we can reverse the depreciation values posted for this what I have done is I updated the old depreciation key in asset classes and done the AFAB repeat depreciation run for the period for which values are posted but still this not updating.
Can any one help me how to over come this issue...
    Thanks
    Srinath

    Hi Bernhard,
Let me explain you once again,
recently the request for change of depreciation key so, what I have done is created  a new depreciation key and assigned depreciation key in asset class.
    Old depreciation key: ABCD
New depreciation Key is : XYZ1
I changed with new depreciation key in Asset class but this is not updated in the assets but the values have changed for all the assets for that asset class.
so, even when I put back the old depreciation key in the asset class and update this is not bringing any difference in the asset and when I re run the depreciation in AFAB this is not making any changes.
    Thanks
    Srinath

  • Change of Depreciation key - Planned Depreciation

    Dear All,
We are having the scenario that, when we change the depreciation key for the asset, the system issues the warning message and still we need to change that.
However the asset has been posted to already. As a result of changing the depreciation key, the planned depreciation in open fiscal years will be recalculated.
How do we avoid to recalculate the planned depreciaiton for the asset when we change the depreciation key.
Because everytime we need to stop depreciation for a number of assets and thus change of depre.key is required.
I request you to all, please kindly provide your values.
    Regards,
    Ran.

    Hi Friend,
It is possible to change the depreciation key, but you can not avoid Planned Dep. Posting Run. As the system considers that it has to re-run.
According to me, you should create the new depreciation Area for such kind of assets and you should go for manual depreciation. Because it is not reasonable to change the depreciation key everytime.

    Jigar

  • Determining Depreciation key

    Hi All,
I have a  issue on depreciation key.
We have  an asset class called" Building". This asset class has three sub asset classes. Now these sub asset classes have many assets which have different depreciation rates and capitalisation dates.
How can I determine depreciation keys and asset class?
Helpful answers are rewarded with points.
    Regards
    Srikanth RVS

In sap, each main asset and sub assets are considered as independent master records ... so both can have different deprec terms and useful lives and all.
From you reply it looks like you guys have assets under sub assets? Normally Main asset is an item and sub assets are considered as an components of that item. For e.g Crane is an Main asset which can have diff useful life and deprec terms but crane motors/arms/etc are considered as an sub assets to the main asset. These sub assets lives and deprec terms can be diff. than the main asset.
I hope this explains well. You can always search on this forum rgd main asset and sub assets and will find lots of posts.

  • Inactivate Depreciation Key

    Hi,
I tried to inactivate Depreciation Key through AFAMA but status field is in Grey. Please guide how to do it.
    Regards,
    VS

You might want to do the following.
    1. If you have already assigned the depreciation key in a depreciation area, then first, you would have to delete the depreciation key from such a depreciation area.
    2. Make note of how the depreciation key is defined.  Only do this if it is a SAP standard depreciation key.  There is no need to make a note of it if you who defined the depreciation key in question.
    3. Delete the depreciation key in AFAMA.
    4. Re-create the depreciation key but do not activate it this time round. However, if it was your own defined depreciation key, then again there is no need recreating it.
Hope this help resolve your issue.

  • Which depreciation key is eligible for mid-month convention in SAP?

    Dear Experts,
I am looking for the depreciation key for mid-month convention for USA in SAP standard system.
Do you know what key is for this convention?
    Thanks.
    BR,
    Chris Kim

    Dear sapfincon,
    Thank you for your comment.
When I looked at those depreciation keys, LINA/LINK/LINR, those period control are 007 or 008.
In case of acquisition for those period controls, "007" has "04" (First year convention at half year start date) and "008" "01" (Pro rata at period start date).
    I don't think these "04" and "01" stand for mid-month convention.
I assume the period control "02" (Pro rata upto mid-period at period start date) is for mid-month convention.
What do you think about this?
    Thanks again.
    BR,
    Chris Kim

    Hello,
Hoping someone can help me with this question - Is it possible to change the depreciation key for closed fiscal years - we need to change it for Tax - books. And if yes - does it mean we need to open closed fiscal years ??

    Hi,
you will need to open the FI and AA periods. After changing the depreciation keys do the necessary dep run and close the books in the correct sequence. There should not be problem.

  • Tecra M10 - Stuck CTRL key issue -- perhaps to do with BIOS?

    Hello and thanks for reading.
I recently switched my Tecra M10 to Windows 7 (from XP) and it soon developed the dreaded "stuck CTRL key" issue. This causes the keyboard to behave as if the CTRL key is permanently depressed. Sometimes hitting a combination of keys, or bringing up the onscreen keyboard, temporarily solves the issue, but then it returns.
It seems to be an issue many people have, with no simple solution. I've looked at every thread about it I can find, and tried many things to do with drivers etc. without any success.
So firstly, if anyone knows a remedy that works for this particular machine, I would be very grateful to learn it!
Then, there are two things I've not yet done: update BIOS and disable pinch zoom.
I was looking at the following BIOS update:
    http://www.toshiba-asia.com/sg/support/drivers/details/25244
... which is version 3.00 and seems to be most recent. My own version is 1.90.
However version 3.00 is labelled "For PTMB0* ONLY". I don't know what this means or whether it applies to me. Can anyone help? Should I install this BIOS?
For the pinch zoom, I've been told that disabling it does sometimes cure the CTRL problem -- but I can't find any pinch zoom facility on the M10. I suspect it simply doesn't have one. Is that right?
Many thanks for any help you can give.

    Hi
    > I was looking at the following BIOS update. which is version 3.00 and seems to be most recent. My own version is 1.90.
There are different Tecra M10 models on the market.
Check the labels at the bottom of the unit. There you should find some numbers like for example PTMB0E-01K00LGR
The first 6 characters are important: for example PTMB0E
I assume your notebook belongs to European series.
In such case you should check the Toshiba EU driver page for possible BIOS update.
    http://www.toshiba.eu/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp
However, on Toshiba EU driver page you will find also the BIOS v3.0 for all European Tecra M10 units.
Anyway, back to the CTRL button issue: guess what, you should connect an external USB keyboard and should check how the CTRL button acts.
In case the USB keyboard would work properly, the CTRL button of internal keyboard is affected and you will need to replace the internal keyboard.
PS: it could be possible that the option "sticky keys" has been enabled. To disable this function, you have to press SHIFT button 5 times in the row.

  • How to get Depreciation key independant from Depreciation area

    Hello,
We are using two depreciation areas  01 book depreciation and 15 Tax, in our asset class we have put  for both the same depreciation key (GD50) but with a different uselife for every depreciation area
Now when we create a new asset (AS01) intially the correct uselife appears ( tab depreciation area) but apparently when i want to change the one for depreciation area 01 its also changed in depreciation area 15  - how can we avoid that 15 is 'linked' to 01?
    Many thanks

  • Transfer assets from one asset class to another having different depreciation keys.

    Hi Gurus,
I am a noob in FICO, and I am facing a problem while transferring assets from one asset class to another.
    Below is the scenario.
I created two assets 100000000000-0 under asset class 4690a and 200000000000-0 under asset class 4690b. And I am trying to transfer the
asset from class 4690b to 4690a by selecting the option ‘New Asset’ in the transaction ABUMN. While doing this, I am receiving an error message as below.
'Posting with trans. type 300 not possible (No acquisition posted).'
         Message No. AA324.
    Diagnosis:
Transaction type 300 belongs to a transaction type group, which can only be used to post to assets to which posting has already been performed. However, no postings have been made to this asset.
    Procedure:
Use a transaction type from a transactio type group, which can be used for the first acquisition to an asset.
The error is related to the transaction type which I hadn’t explicitly created anywhere. But, when checked in transaction AO76, the transaction  type 300 belongs to the transaction type group 30. In this group I am not able to find any solution related to the error.
Moreover, in some of the threads in SCN, I read that modifying the transaction type group might lead to something fatal.
Kindly help me in the below.
    1. What exactly the error message is related with?
    2. Is there any other method to transfer the asset to another class?
Please let me know if any further details are required regarding the scenario.

    Hi ,
I understand that you want to transfer the old asset to new asset with different asset class with different depreciation keys and the old asset is not yet capitalized and does not have any Asset Values.
Assuming that since the First Asset is not yet capitalized, that seems to be that its just that ASset Master is created and no Asset Values appear in the Asset.(in other words no acquisition, capitalization, no dep. start etc.)..
Alternatively this asset can be advised to be blocked and flagged for deletion and create a new Asset in the new Asset Class and then capitalize the new asset by doing the acquisition according to the business process i.e. either via PO based process(GR) or Non PO based process.
The transfer of asset is required incase the old asset still have the values and you are transferring the old asset to new one with the left over values.
Also would request you to kindly share some screenshots of the AW01n of the old asset and screenshots of the AS03 to have more idea on it and provide a better solution to the same..
    Warm Regards,
    Vineet

  • Setup one depreciation key

    Hi Gurus,
I have a scenario as below:
    1) Define one depreciation key that allow user to specify any of the useful life during asset master data creation
    2) Based of the useful life entered in the asset master data help to calculate planned/posted depreciation automatically
Instead of define all the posibility depreciation key, may I know if there is any flexible way that I could setup to cater for above scenario?
Pls advise and guide with sample example.
    Thanks & regards,
    Loi

    Loi,
    1) Define one depreciation key that allow user to specify any of the useful life during asset master data creation
        - During the creation of Asset Master data, you have the option to manually input the asset's useful life
        - If you want SAP uatomatically derive the useful life base on the asset class, you can maintain in in tcode OAYZ
          Chart of Depreciation
          Asset Class
          Depreciation Area
          Deprciation Key
          Useful life
          Period
          Layout
    2) Based of the useful life entered in the asset master data help to calculate planned/posted depreciation automatically
         - the planned depreciation will be automatically calculated base on the depreciation key (straight line/declining balance) also useful life is a factor
         - Base on the planned depreciation, actual depreciation will be posted to the asset when you execute "Depreciation Run" program tcode AFABN.
Instead of define all the posibility depreciation key, may I know if there is any flexible way that I could setup to cater for above scenario?
If you have existing depreciation key that will satisfy your depreciation calculation requirement, no need to create new one.
    Thanks!
