Derived and Real Depreciation Area Concept (Enduser Documents)

Hi, We have a requirement in which we need to maintain following Depreciation
Areas:
1.Real Depreciation Area
2.Cost Accounting Depreciation Area
3.IFRS Depreciation Area
Can anybody please explain how many derived depreciation areas we need to maintain. And also please provide some examples of adjustment postings for real and derived depreciatin areas.
Thanks

Hello, Sandeep:
The message tells us that:
it doesn't make sense to allow negative value of acquisition for a REAL depreciation area, only meaningful for a derived area, as it might be the result of one real area minus another real area.
And if you set it as allow all value (as it is only a warning), the system cannot forbid the negative acquisition technically (negative acquisition doesn't make sense as we can see).
Hope it will help.
Best Regards, Lawrence

  • Indicator: Store real depreciation area

What the Indicator: Store real depreciation area is necessary for? Am I correctly understand, that if we put this indicator in any depreciation area or in all (in earlier versions it was possible to put only for one area in 6.0 for all) after, for example acquisition postings, I can see at once postings in any area with the given indicator (the sum on debit, the sum on credit) having failed at line in asset explorer, unlike early versions when for this purpose it was necessary to start ASKBN? Or I have passed something important?
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi,
We are in 4.7ee version, and able to choose real dep area for all of our dep areas.
    This is for your information.
Share with me about this, since i too need to know more about the significance of real dep area check box.
    Thanks,

  • Different Aquisition Value (APC) for group and local depreciation area?

    Hello,
Is it possible to have different APC/acquisition value in your group and local depreciation area? We want to book the net book value as APC for local depreciation area while gross APC and accumulated depreciation are recorded in group depreciation area.
    Group Depreciation Area
    APC- 100
    Accum Dep- 20
    Local Depreciation Area
    APC-80
I'd highly appreciate if you can give inputs.

    Hi,
You did exactly whats required to acheive your requirement.
There is no more further implications by removing the tick for a while and reverting after go live.
While doing AS91, if you enter the APC value for 01 area, then that value will be automatically populated to the other dependent areas of 01 area. ( In case, if your other areas are in diff currency also, system will converts the 01 area value in to other area's curr by taking the exch rate).
Here you can still change the APC values for the all other areas. (The other areas should have been unticked for Identical APC value check box in OABC).
So while creating AS91, in tkaover values tab, enter APC value 80 in your 01 area and manually change the value in your group area. (REmove 80 and enter 100).
For accum dep, in takeover values tab, enter accum dep 20 in group area only. (like OABC, in OABD also the other areas should be unticked for the identical value check box).
    This will resolve your issue.
    Thanks,
    Srinu

  • ABT1N and parallel depreciation area, receiving Asset with zero value

    Hello,
This is the case, ABT1N, same Chart of Depreciation. Transfer from Company A to B.
Values are copied for Depreciation Area 01 in Company B but not for Area 90 (Parallel Depreciation Area).  Zero Amounts in Area 90.
    Dep Area
    01     =>  Main Ledger 0L
    90     =>  Parallel Ledger L1
    91     =>  Delta 01-90
    I will appreciate any idea/clue.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Found it, Transfer Method in Transfer Variant should be '4' (Gross method with transfer of values to dependent areas).

  • Real Servers not connected to ACE VLAN and Real Servers are clients accessing the VIP

    Hi,
I have a very strange set up and need some help to get my config working
I have a ASA firewall with three VLANs
    VLAN 1 = Internet
    VLAN 2 = DMZ
VLAN 3 = Goes to ACE
On the ACE I have four VLANs
VLAN 3 = Goes to ASA
VALN 4 = Web Server Tier
    VALN 5 = DB Tier
    VALN 6 = VIPs
Our Application team have asked us to create a New VIP on the ACE with real servers in DMZ (Server A and Server B)
And they have told us that the cleints accessing the VIP will be Server A and Server B
I have always created VIPs with real servers directly connected to the ACE but not connected elsewhere.
I belive I have a big challenge of opening ports on the firewall etc to get this set up working. Also, should i use some sort of NAT / SNAT?
Could anyone guide me on this setup please?
    Raj

    Hi Raj,
First of all it is possible to add servers in ACE which are HOP away from ACE interfaces. Here servers are HOP away but there VIP is part of ACE interface subnet. The only need is that servers return traffic towards client should be passed through ACE (so that ACE can manitain states and chage the source IP of the reply packet from server IP to VIP on which client has requested the connection).
When servers are HOP away and ACE do not come in path between server and client then we have to to do SNAT for intial client request. This configuration will force the return traffic from server to ACE (as server will NAT IP as client IP).
In your case DMZ-VIP which is created for two real servers A and B, will be accesses by these servers only. So it is a situation of server accessing there own VIP. For this scenario to work we have to have SNAT (no matter whether servers are directly connected or HOP away). So best solution here is VIP in VLAN 3, Rserevrs for this VIP in DMZ, and SNAT client request, using free IP in VLAN 3.
Also you have to open ports on firewall for both "real server Probes" and actual application ports, moreover policies modification on firewall for allowing traffic from DMZ to ACE VIP, DMZ to NAT IP and there vice versa traffic.

  • Can a derived depreciation area be a real area for depreciation postings?

    Example :
    Book area 1 (real)        : $100,000
    Area 2 (not real)          : $120,000
Derived area                : Area 2 minus Area 1 = $20,000 (depreciation calculation based on this)
    Is above possible?

    Hi,
the F1 Help of the field "real depreciation area" says:
Set this indicator if you want the system to store the values of this depreciation area in the database (meaning that the area is not a derived depreciation area). The values in this area are then updated each time a posting is made, and can be immediately evaluated.

  • How to correct the derived depreciation area balances (Group Assets)

    Hi SAP Gurus....
Due to some wrong configurations for one derived depreciation area (Group Assets) values have not updated in that derived depreciation area and related group assets. Now how to update the same APC values in derived depreciation area and Group Assets from already posted APC values in real depreciation areas.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi All
    Any Comments.................

  • Deactivate a depreciation area (Real area but does not post)

    Hi Guys
I want to deactivate a depreciation area.
It is a real depreciation area but area does not post in GL.
Is there any risk in deactivating the depreciation area in the asset class ? We do not want to use this area any more '
    Thanks

    Thanks Anil
    But my question is
Should I only have  to deactivate the depreciation area in the asset class OAYZ ? In this case new asset won´t see this depreciation area , but old asset still show this depreciation area in AS03. It seems no issue with this approach.
Someone has suggested me also to deactivate it in OABN (but this depreciation area did not post) If I untick ordinary depreciation field  in OABN when I go to the asset I have an error message:
"You cannot manage ordinary depreciation in area 60
    Message no. AA656
    Diagnosis
According to Customizing settings, ordinary depreciation cannot be managed in area 60. The posting being processed changes ordinary depreciation.
    Procedure
Check the amount entered and the transaction type."
So, what is the safety procedure just go to OAYZ (I think this is the right way) and unclick the field "deact" ?
    "Indicator: Depreciation area is deactivated
Set this indicator if you want the depreciation area to be inactive in this asset class or asset (although it is defined in the chart of depreciation)."
    Any other suggestion ?

  • New GL Environment - Asset Management - Depreciation Areas

    Hi Folks
My client currently is on 4.6C R/3 platform. The asset management configuration for Depreciation Areas is such that the area 01 has been assigned to Local GAAP postings and has Real Time Posting flag set to yes. Area 20 has been assigned to IAS, but without Real Time Posting flag.
Going for New GL, the question is does SAP allow Leading Ledger (0L) to have a depreciation area (20 in our case) which is not configured for real time postings while allowing Non Leading Ledger (say X1) to have a depreciation area (01 in our case) which is configured for real time postings.
If SAP allows this, it is OK, we just migrate as it is.
If not, we need to swap configurations between the two depreciation areas and do a de-facto re implementation of AA module as a precursor to New GL migration.
Also, keeping this issue in mind, would it be better/ advisible to go in for New GL migration sometime middle of a year?
Any thoughts/ experiences/ advice on this situation?
    Regards
    Mandar

You can use derived depreciation area concept and can post to different ledgers.
One limitation is that the formula which you give is always 60=01-20 and not 20-01. Here 01, 20, 60 are depreciation areas. 60 is the derived depreciation area which is a standrd delivery.
You are not clear whether are you posting to 20 periodically or not? Or it is for only reporting?.
Assuming you are posting in 4.6C and want to continue the same, you can do so by the derived depreciation area.
You may be needing to configure your system for periodical posting (ASKBN) and you need to use FB50L for postings to specific Ledger or ledger groups. If you want to post all the ledgers same value but for the depreciation, you can use the old transactions.
you run your scenario in sand box and test your self before come to a conclusion.
The scenario what you are referring is a standard functionality.

  • Creating depreciation area for non leading ledger

    Hi,
I want to configurate a depreciation area for a non-leading ledger. This is my scenario:
01-Accounting area leading ledger. Group legder: 0L (on line)
02- Accounintg area non leading ledger. Group ledger N1 (Area posts APC only directly)
03-Depreciation non leading ledger. Grouo ledger N1 (Area posts depreciation only)
Is it correct to created this 2 areas for non leading ledger?
    Thanks,
    Cecilia

    Hi Cecilia,
    additionally to my colleagues:
For each additional set of accounting principles, you create one real  and one derived depreciation area.
    Real Depreciation Area:
    1. In Customizing for Financial Accounting (New), choose Asset Accounting  - Valuation  - Depreciation Areas  -Define Depreciation  Areas.
    2.  Assign both depreciation areas to the same ledger group.
The ledger group you assign them to is not allowed to contain the leading ledger.
    3.  In the Posting in G/L field, choose Area Posts Depreciation Only.
    Derived Depreciation Area:
It is easiest to create the derived depreciation area using the Wizard.
    4. In Customizing for Financial Accounting (New), choose Asset Accounting - Valuation - Depreciation Areas - Set Up Areas for Parallel Valuation.
    5. In the Posting in G/L field, choose Area Posts APC Only.  Specify that this derived depreciation area represents the difference between the real depreciation area for parallel accounting and the
    master depreciation area.
You do not have to set up a separate account set for these new depreciation areas. Instead you use the account set of the master depreciation area. In this scenario, you do not have to create any new  accounts in the chart of accounts or in the company code. You also do  not have to create a new financial statement version.
So a typical dep.area setting for a parallel ledger at you is like:
    T093
    AFABER ABVOR1 AFABE1 ABVOR2 AFABE2 BUHBKT LDGRP_GL
    01...............................00...........................00............1.............0L
    02...............................00...........................00............3.............N1
    03..................+...........01............ - ............02............6.............N1

  • YTD and accumul. depreciation have the same value when dpis is 2 years ago

    Hi all
I am using FA and i have some problems. I have just setup this module and now i want to migrate assets in the system. The customer gave me an excel with the following fields that want to be in the system like: asset cost, accumulated depreciation, date placed in service, ytd accumulation and so on.
    the problems are:
    1) when i want to enter new asset manually the ytd depreciation and accumulated depreciation are required to be equal. ok so far, i register new asset on test environment and when i enter the date placed in service for example two years ago (because that is the real date placed in service of the asset) and run depreciation, the system has calculated correctly the accumulated depreciation, but has calculated the same value even for YTD depreciation which is not true, because in this case accumulated depreciation and ytd depreciation are completely different. how to solve this problem? How can i put correct values in this fields?
    2) when i enter these assets directly in the fa_mass_additions table according to the fixed assets user guide, i have the following errors: when i put "ON HOLD" on queue name, and open these assets on the system, the on hold field has no value (is empty)
When i try to run post mass additions, the report is not finding the parameter (book) because the system is giving en error message telling me that there is no value in this list of values
please help to solve this problems because i am not being able to migrate assets for the company.
    Thank you and best regards

    gaskins,
You may have different Color Settings, and if you use Pantone you should be aware that the whole interpretation has changed (a number of times, most radically recently).
If you say more, more can be said.

  • Explain for me about depreciation areas

    Hi everybody
please explain for me about depreciation areas.
I see Depreciation 01: it'll post to GL
    How about depreciation areas?
    Thanks so much
    Ngocpt

    Hi
Depreciation areas are used for different scenarios for calculating your depreciation.   Normally you will have to calculate depreciation like book depreciation, tax depreciation, net worth depreciation, and like.  These can be represented in depreciation areas and the depreciation area 01 (book depreciation) posts in real time as you said.
    Am I clear ?

  • Error in ASKB after creating parallel & delta depreciation area

    Hi All,
We have APC and depreciation values in Area 1 for an Asset. Now I have created parallel depreciation area 70 and delta depreciation area 90. area 70 posting to parallel ledger. As soon as I created area 90, the following values are showing in AW01N
    01 - Dep Area
    APC - $45000
    Depreciation  - 1500
    70 - Depr Area
    APC - Null
    Depreciation - Null
    90  - Dep Area
    APC - $45000
    Depreciation  - 1500
So when I run ASKB it gives me an error saying 'Balancing field in Profit center in line item 001 not filled'. The ledger group it is trying to post is the non-leading ledger.
    Can you please help.

    Hi Murali & Vinod,
Thanks for your replies. The document splitting settings are fine. It was the issue corss-system depreciation are settings. The client had activated area 70 for an Asset in one company code, but did not have it in the transferred Asset in the other company code. It was an intercompany transfer. We fixed this activating area 70 and now it is ok.
Now the problem is after I run ASKB, and check ABST2, the reconciliation report shows a line item with
    Account : 1XXXXXX (Accum. Depr A/c)
Ledger : 3G (non leading ledger)
    Period : 999
    2ndLCGL :example 1000
    2ndLC in AA: 0
    2ndLC Delta : 1000
    3rdLCGL :example 1000
    3rdLC in AA: 0
    3rdLC Delta : 1000
Leading ledger postings reconcile properly. Non leading ledger APC values in all 3 currencies reconcile properly. Only for Depr A/c in non-leading ledger it is not posting to LC2 and LC3.
    Any thoughts?

  • Transaction OAYH (to link company code to depreciation area)

    Hi All,
I defined two new depreciation area for a particular chart of depreciation say 15 and 30. for a particular company code i want to change the currencybut when i go to transaction OAYH i can only see depreciation area 01, while 15 and 30 are not seen.
please suggest how to get depreication area 15 and 30 for a particulare company code.
    Thanks and Regards
    Reena

    Hi,
Please make sure that, for your new depreciation areas, the below were maintained or not.
    1) Transfer of APC values from 01 area (OABC)
    2) Transfer of depreciation terms from 01 area (OABD)
    3) new areas must be REAL depreciation areas

  • Parallel curency in depreciation area

    Hi expert,
I see a lot of posts concerning my problem... It helps me for one part....
With the new ledger, local and group currency are activated. So, i read from the forum that i have to create for depreciation area 01, one copy of this depreciation area with currency type 30. --> ok for depreciation area 01, it works
But the system gives me the same message for depreciation area 51 (system inconsistency), so i alsocreated a copy of it and tried to associate it the currency type 30. But it doesn't work.....
If i put the currency type 30, i have the following message:
Table TABWA is not part of the Customizing object VV_T093A_CURTPV
If i put nothing, i have the following message:
Parallel currency area (currency type 30) missing for area 51
    So I'm going crazy....
Maybe didn't I create the depreciation area 51 (invesment support) as it should be? I had to create it manually as it was not in the COD of my country.
    I don't know what to do ....
    Could you helpme ?
    Thanks in advance,
    Chris

    Hi Chris,
For parallel currency - in your system - check if 2 curriencies have been maintained or 3 curriencies have been maintained.
    Path:
SAP Customizing Implementation Guide - Financial Accounting (New) - Financial Accounting Global Settings - Company Code - Parallel Currencies - Define Additional Local Currencies / or / Define Additional Local Currencies for Ledgers
    Now in Asset Accounting:
Each type of real depreciation area that posts to the GL
    - be it to just the leading ledger or to non-leading ledgers
    and
    - even if it posts periodically
you need to create/maintain extra Depreciation Areas - maintained in these parallel currencies for value.
    For Example:
Wrt DA01 - for Book Area - which normally always post to GL
-> DA01 will normally be maintained in the Company Code currency
-> if you have maintained two parallel curiencies - you'll need to copy/maintain DA 30 in the second currency (group currency) as well.
-> if you have maintained two parallel curiencies - inaddition to  DA 30 in the second currency (group currency), you will also need to copy/maintain DA31 in the third parallel currency (hard currency)
Wrt DA51 - For Investment Support - which may have been configured to post to GL
-> Also copy/maintain additional DAs - maintained in the additional currency/currencies.
Check the currency set-up in AA using T.Codes OABT.
    Regards,
    Ruchi
