Descriptor File for HelloMIDlet

cut from a document with title "MIDP Setup Explained" (http://developer.java.sun.com/developer/technicalArticles/wireless/midpsetup/)
Writing the Descriptor File for HelloMIDlet
The descriptor file to run the HelloMIDlet example from the Introduction to Wireless Programming with the MID Profile article looks like this:
MIDlet-Name: HelloMIDlet
MIDlet-Version: 1.0.0
MIDlet-Vendor: Sun Microsystems, Inc.
MIDlet-Description: A Simple Example
MIDlet-Info-URL: http://java.sun.com/j2me/
MIDlet-Jar-URL: hello.jar
MIDlet-Jar-Size: 1063
MicroEdition-Profile: MIDP-1.0
MicroEdition-Configuration: CLDC-1.0
MIDlet-1: HelloMIDlet,, HelloMIDlet
although the content of the "Descriptor File" is given but how to create this "Descriptor File" ? (what is the name of the file ? where should the file be placed ?)

Hi Neo,
I have created the descriptor file with the content u post at the same folder of the HelloMDlet source code. However, i still cannot execute the prg. When i execute the prg,
follow errors are reported:
Error in application descriptor: MIDlet-Version must have a value.
Error in application descriptor: MicroEdition-Configuration must have a value.
Error in application descriptor: MIDlet-Jar-URL must have a value.
Error in application descriptor: MIDlet-Name must have a value.
Error in application descriptor: MIDlet-1 must have a value.
Error in application descriptor: MicroEdition-Profile must have a value.
Error in application descriptor: MIDlet-Vendor must have a value.
So i think my descriptor file still not work correctly. Do u have any idea ?
btw, I installed J2SE SDK1.3.1, Forte for Java CE Release2.0, J2ME Wireless Toolkit
1.0.2 Early Access and the Wireless Toolkit is integrated with Forte and i compile and execute the code in Forte. In Forte, I have already set the default compiler to JME wireless internal compilation and default executor to KVM Emulator so i think Forte should work properly with MIDP
finally, i also want to get your work example and u can send to [email protected]
thx a lot
regards,
Lok

    Guys,
When I start the Admin and Managed server ..I get below warning message.
    *<Warning> <Management> <BEA-141230> <Could Not locate descriptor file for System Resource : datasource1.>*

Is there any way to to get rid off from this error? I tried to delete datasource from weblogic Admin console, but get below error:

Are you starting servers with the root user? make sure that using whichever user you are starting server, it has full access on MW_Home and it's sub-directories. You may consider raising a support SR.

  • The Error Message 'Application descriptor file cannot be parsed' shows when compiling (Ctrl + Enter) Adobe AIR for Android applications on Flash Professional CS5.5

The Error Message 'Application descriptor file cannot be parsed' shows when compiling (Ctrl + Enter) Adobe AIR for Android applications on Flash Professional CS5.5
This is happening for most of the pupils and staff at our school and they are unable to complete their work.
This also happens on a fresh copy of windows and CS5.5 without any updates and also with all latest updates.
I have tried it on 32-bit and 64-bit CS5, Windows, Air and Java with the same error every time.
There are a small minority of users where this works fine for them with no issue.
I have tried re-setting user profiles.
I have tried a local admin and domain admin account with the same issue
I have noticed however that if the file is moved to the shared area it will compile. If it is on their documents area it will not compile. The users have full control in both locations. This is fine for staff but we are unable to give full control or modify access to the shared area for the pupil's
I have been through the online support section and it directed me to phone Adobe Customer care who informed me that all support has been discontinued for CS5, CS5.5 and CS6 and they will only support creative cloud.
Any ideas what to try next? There is no other information about this error and I cannot work out what is causing it.

I have tried and  able to package an apk using your XML file.Could you please make sure your XML file starting from line 1 and coloumn 0.Any space will results in the error (Application Descriptor file cannot be parsed)

  • Can no longer edit app descriptor file with 3.4 - really?

Until now, when publishing to AIR from Flash Professional, I could manually edit the app descriptor XML with a little workaround:
    1. Set up my publish settings in Flash Professional and click OK
    2. Then edit the XML file and save it
    3. Then Publish from Flash Professional WITHOUT opening the Publish Settings again (which would recreate the XML file).
This has been CRUCIAL to me in order to add certain elements to the XML file such as <extensions> I want to include with my project.
However, this seems impossible to do with the 3.4 AIR SDK release version. When I try, it ignores my manual edits of the XML file and simply removes them when I publish. This is a HUGE problem because now I can no longer add <extensions> in the app descriptor file (and this can't be done from the Flash Professional GUI).
Anyone have ANY idea how to keep adding my extensions to the app descriptor file?

    Hello,
I have the same problem, but not the same solution : I have an old air application under Air 2.0, with an automatic updater, and wanted to make an intermediate application as seen here : http://helpx.adobe.com/air/kb/update-air-2-or-earlier.html .
So I have to change the application descriptor by hand. But Flash CS6 always overwrite this descriptor with its own datas while exporting.
How can I change my application descriptor for this intermediate version ? I have Flash CS5, but not Flash CS5.5, and the extension for Flash CS5 doesn't exist anymore !
    Thanks !

  • SRWC 2.0 descriptor file and SUNWuttsc-kio not present

    Dear Forum users,
I have installed Solaris 10 11/06 OS in my SFV240 server. Also have installed the following:
    1) Latest Solaris 10 patch bundle
    2) SRSS 4.0 update 2 BETA.
    3) SRWC 2.0_15
I read through the SRWC Installation and Admin guide under Kiosk Session. There it mentioned about uttsc.conf descriptor file and uttsc script. In another page it says that SunRay Connector Kiosk Session installed automatically as part of SR Connector installation "SUNWuttsc-kio". The page mentioned to configure the Kiosk mode in SR Admin GUI and select Session "Sun Ray Connector for Windows OS".
Non of the said above files are in my system. The following files are missing:
    1) The descriptor uttsc.conf in /etc/opt/SUNWkio/sessions/.
    2) The script uttsc in /etc/opt/SUNWkio/sessions/uttsc/.
    3) No SUNWuttsc-kio package in the system.
    4) From SR Admin GUI, Advanced tab, Kiosk Mode tab, i sis not see the Sun Ray Connector for Windows OS option.
Why the above files are missing ? Do i have to install any packages ?
Waiting for help and thanks in advance.

    Hi Alisampras,
I had the same problem. Look in the main Sunray installation folder after you unzipped it, i.e: srss_4.0/Supplemental/Kiosk_Mode_4.0
...and go from there. I'm using SLES9, and it was a simple 'rpm -ivh' for me. It looks like the Solaris install might take a bit more effort....
    Hope this helps...

  • Package IPA file, *then* edit app descriptor file? - possible?

    Hi,
I've run into a problem. In order to support for Facebook connections in my app, I need to add some lines to my app descriptor file's <InfoAdditions> node:
However, the app descriptor file is generated when I package the IPA from Flash Professional, and there's to way to tell Flash to add something into the <InfoAdditions> node when generating the file. I've even tried to package the IPA, then unzip the IPA file, edit the app descriptor file and reinsert it into the IPA, but that causes the IPA file to become corrupted; apparently it checks for manual edits like these.
Is there any way to edit that <InfoAdditions> node in my app descriptor file before or after it is packaged into the IPA file? I sure don't hope the only way to do it is to use the ADT prompt or something. That tool is godawful and impossible to use (who's using a DOS prompt in 2012??).

Open your iOS settings to set everything else up, don't forget to check the box that says to remember your password. Close that dialog and then edit the app descriptor file to add the Facebook lines, and do a Save. Now select Publish from the File menu in Flash Pro. Don't go back into the iOS settings to publish, that would end up deleting the lines you have added.

Your 1-1 mapping must not be read-only.
deviceMapping.readOnly();Read-only means the mapping will not write the field, and should only be used when another mapping does write the field.

  • URGENT: Failed to parse descriptor file

I have a servlet which actually act as an EJB client. The ejb server application
is running on the same server(WL 7.0 SP4). The servlet was working fine when
we were using a policy file which give all permissions to the code. Now as per
customer requirement we changed the policy file to include only the permissions
that we require. It is throwing this exception after this policy file change.
What the code is doing is that using reflection, get the findByPrimaryKey method
and invoke it on the home interface.
    The exception is:
java.rmi.RemoteException: cannot unmarshaling return; nested exception is:
java.rmi.UnexpectedException: Failed to parse descriptor file; nested exception
    is:
org.xml.sax.SAXException: ResourceEntityResolver: did not resolve entity for
    publicId = -//BEA Systems, Inc.//RMI Runtime DTD 1.0//EN with resource name rmi.dtd
What permission I will need to give in the policy file inorder to fix this problem?
    Thanks in advance,

I found another thread which indicates explicitly including the JARs in the class path clears up this issue. I tried that and it looks like it is working.

  • Upload Error: Missing Application Descriptor File

    Hi,
I keep getting an error when trying to upload my AIR 2.5 app, specifically, "missing application descriptor file".  I've double checked the proper XML format for 2.5, as well as checking its location by changing AIR extension to ZIP, etc.  The application.xml file is in the proper format and location.
Any clues as to why this upload error is occurring?
    Thanks.

    Hello,
When uploading an application, the validation looks for the file "META-INF/AIR/application.xml". Is this where your application descriptor resides?
If your problem persists, we can help troubleshoot if you provide us with your AIR application.
    Thanks,
    Christine

  • WLST and JDBC Descriptor files

I'm trying to change the configuration of an portal domain. In 8.1 this was no problem, but in 9.X there's a notion of a JDBC Descriptor file to describe the JDBC connection.
    So when I run:
    readTemplate(r'/%bea_home%/weblogic92/common/templates/applications/wlp.jar')
    cd('JDBCSystemResource/portalDataSourceAlwaysXA')
When I look at this JDBC resource all it contains is a reference to a descriptor file.
How to I change these settings (we're using Oracle and not Pointbase)?
    Second question:
Where are all the other jdbc settings set? When I run the configuration wizard, I see a lot of data sources - among them a sample data source. These are no in the referenced JDBC descriptor files - so where do they come from? I'm talking about the following data sources which show up in the configuration wizard:
    - p13nDataSource
    - cgDataSource
    - cgDataSource-nonXA
    - samplesDataSource
As a sidenote - I think that BEA should document how one alters JDBC connections which are already defined inside a template. I haven't found any such documentation.

The problem with the IOException (Permission denied) is
solved. It arised when I tried to create the domain in my
ClearCase view. When doing the same thing in my home folder
    I didn't have this problem.
How about creating a JMSDestinationKey? Anyone having a
    solution for this?

    Some problems with configToScript (WLST).
    I have a config.xml which I run configToScript on.
It works fine and the message I get at the end is that I
should replace "ChangeME" to proper values. For my
JDBC Connection-pool, I replace it with a cleartext password.
But what should I replace it with for EmbeddedLDAP and
SecurityConfiguration? If I run the script
without changing it I get this critical error:
    <Jun 22, 2004 5:06:01 PM CEST> <Critical> <EmbeddedLDAP>
<BEA-171517><An error occurred while attempting to get
exclusive access to the embedded LDAP data files
directory - temp/myserver/ldap/ldapfiles. The exception thown
is java.io.IOException: Permission denied.>I haven't seen this myself and could not reproduce. It might
help if you remove the myResource.setCredential("changeME")
for the embedded ldap and security configuration from the
script. Server will assign a default value and you should be
    all set.
Another problem I have when running the generated script is
that it fails to create a JMSDestinationKey:
Error occured while performing create : Cannot create MBean
of type JMSDestinationKey. You can only create MBean's
children to the current cmo of type: Domain. Use dumpStack()
to view the error stack trace.Could you please attach your config.xml?
    Thanks,
    -satya
Even in interactive mode I have the same problem and the
    dumpStack() gives me zero.
I'm running on Linux RedHat using WebLogic 8.1SP2.
